Pretty much exactly this, I don’t see any valid or decent reason to make Rev a no-swap class, I feel like they’re forcing it purely because that way each armour weight has one class that can’t swap but it honestly is a terrible execution.
I wrote a topic along the lines of this, but it sadly got merged in to that hideous blob of a “revenant feedback” topic (Good luck to the devs deciphering that).
I feel tying legend swap to weapon swap would make the class feel much, much better to play.
I see no reason to restrict weapon swap just to have one heavy class without swap for the sake of the medium and light class without swap.
The current iteration of the legend swap mechanic does not in any way feel like a good substitute for weapon swapping due to how locked in each weapon is to a specific legend. Elementalist attunement swap means every weapon fits every attunement and Engineer kits mean your weapon choice is not a hugely impactful aspect of the class, but with Revenant as it is, each weapon is very clearly designed to be used exclusively with a specific legend, and it really doesn’t feel fun to play that way. If legend swapping also swapped weapons, it would alleviate this feeling greatly.
Currently, every weapon feels very solidly stuck exclusively to a specific legend, which is incredibly restrictive and doesn’t feel very good to play.
I’d suggest One of two options to remedy this:
1. Implementing a system akin to the elementalist where each weapon has a different skillset based on your currently active legend. It would make being unable to weapon swap feel much less restrictive and give the revenant a better feel.
Currently legend swapping is borderline pointless due to each weapon only being designed to work with one specific legend, and being unable to swap weapons out of combat means that legend swapping in combat will only serve to alter your utility skills (usually a bad thing without adjusting your build accordingly first).
2. Allowing weapon swap on legend swap (ie, having a weapon in the secondary weapon slot that got swapped to when swapping legends, and vice-versa). This I feel would be the more practical and easy to implement solution, requiring the least development time while still making legend swapping in combat feel much better than it currently does.

[Bug Report] Jalis>Ventari switch pink box
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: rapthorne.7345
Well, the pink box had writing on it telling me to report it as a bug if I see it, so yeah.
Simply put, it seems to only happen when swapping from Jalis/Dwarf to Ventari/Centaur. Tried other swaps and wasn’t able to replicate, so seems to be linked just to this one
Thoughts Thus Far:
First and foremost, Ventari base damage and healing is much, much too high. Of all the weapons, staff has much higher damage per second than hammer or mace/axe in full berserker, as well as insane healing rates on top of that which I was under the impression ANet didn’t want happening.
Jalis/Hammer just feels underwhelming all around, sadly. Poor damage, clunky skills and just doesn’t feel good to play at all in my opinion
Mallyx is super fun to play as a condi spec, but I feel his play style is a corruption necromancer on steroids. Mallyx in it’s current iteration will make playing a corruption necro completely pointless as Mallyx outclasses it in every way (Something that many Necromancer forumites predicted and has sadly come to pass)
Overall very mixed feelings about the Revenant right now, it seems the balance is completely all over the place
Only thing I want changed with current LA is for all of the banks and TP’s to be shown on the map. there’s several bank and TP NPC’s around that have no map marker
Will this event be getting streamed at all?
Hopefully we get to see much more content and maybe a few new reveals. Would be awesome.
Beta weekends are great, but we’re now…. 8 weeks (?) since our last spec reveal.
Hair in GW2 doesn’t use physics. It is most likely scripted or even manually animated to give the illusion of natural hair movement. It’s far cheaper on processing requirements that way. Unfortunately in a game with such a wide variety of body shapes and sizes, some hair styles won’t look 100% perfect.
Given how I’ve seen my sylvari’s hair react to movement and direction in almost the exact way my more flowing armour does, I strongly believe you are highly misinformed about this
Tome of knowledge=Ruining the experience?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: rapthorne.7345
eh, it depends. the levelling experience doesn’t really change all that much so after you’ve levelled a few different characters, then all it really is is repetition.
Pretty sure they have specified somewhere that each new elite specialisation will introduce only one new weapon to a class, so if ele do get warhorn they will not also be getting a mainhand
Is this actually working? i have yet to see chill stacking at all…
Also what’s up with necro’s trident #5 skill “Frozen Abyss” it says in the tooltip that it gives 7 stacks of chill but the cap is just 5 and right now it’s only giving 1???
The wording on the patch notes was just bad. they meant duration stacks, not intensity stacks.
It seems the developers, for some reason, suddenly hated necromancers. I got the strong feeling that after the rebalance necromancer become, in fact, the worst class in all aspects.
And now developers furiously hammer nails into the coffin of the poor necros…
It’s never been a “sudden” thing. Necromancer have been dumped on for a long, long time.
The blood magic change is the only good thing that’s happened to us since I started playing aside from the dagger cleave change which impacted multiple classes.
(edited by rapthorne.7345)
they are aware how strong chill is, thats why its so rare. They did say that in reaper’s stream
Except with the mobility skill change they removed a large chunk of chill’s power.
Where can I buy this with bills and coins?

I love my Cabbages, what can I say? A human revenant doesn’t appeal to me, and as I understand it during the stress tests only human Revenant was available.
Will we have multiple race options open to us for the upcoming revenant test and other beta weekends, or just human as in the stress tests/demo?
Given the sheer amount of dust some people have stockpiled, and the fact that the ascended eaters can give some pretty nifty loot, I don’t see this as a good idea.
Ascended mats are not designed for us as a consumable currency for the eaters, the eaters were designed as a way to lessen daily excess.
In the competitive community there will always be kittenbags, it’s unavoidable.
I have not ever had a bad experience in PvE in terms of community in the 10 months I’ve been here (regularly playing every day) except in the case of speed run dungeon groups, which can get a little hostile at times. Speed running is entirely optional and the best way to run dungeons in my opinion is with a casual pug or in a guild group with friends. GW2 is a very social game and the gameplay design itself even promotes social play and cooperation.
It sounds to me like you’ve just had a run of bad luck encountering kittens.
if you’re aiming this as a response to WP, I’d advise visiting his subreddit and posting there
I myself really enjoy games that fuse together technology and magic. Final Fantasy is a franchise that does this fantastically and I feel like GW2 has managed it very well in a unique, steampunkish, style.
No
if you’re going to try and rely on Death Perception for crits then there’s no point going condi necro as Dhuumfire is a terrible trait right now, shroud has terrible condi application, and I strongly suspect reaper shroud condi will also be crap.
Hybrid builds might seem like a good idea in theory but they really, really aren’t except in one or two very niche cases
There’s a list of apps and websites using the API on the wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:List_of_applications
I’ve added the 3 sites above but anyone (including app/site authors) can edit the page to add and complete information!
any chance of getting the sticky at the top of this forum either updated or unstickied?
Why do I bother? Because I genuinely find Necromancer to be the most fun class to play, both thematically and mechanically.
in PvP necro is a class that can turn your skills against you and turn buffs on their heads, send a fleshy undead army against you or simply pummel you in to submission, and in pve they’re good all rounders that offer excellent damage while being reasonably tanky. Let’s not forget the EotM feartrolling, which is a sport in and of itself.
About the only thing I dislike about necro is the colour scheme, because Green just isn’t a colour I like
Honestly the guy in that video seems like a whiny kitten.
Levelling feels grindy? I mean really? GW2 has the least grindy leveling experience in the industry, in my opinion. The very fact that the reknown hearts ALL have multiple ways to complete them makes it less grindy. the dynamic events are fun when groups get involved.
This guy clearly doesn’t have the attitude for MMO gaming
Fashion and what looks “good” are incredibly subjective.
As for Aion, ArenaNet and NCSoft are entirely different companies and Aion is a korean port game. NCSoft is the owner of ANet, doesn’t mean anything has to be similar.
I for one enjoy having a game where not every armour makes you half naked and glowing with about 100 different particle effects and auras.

of course content creators/streamers will be given preference, because it means free advertising for Anet when the content creators stream/post videos.
I also have to watch my bandwidth. standard play will go through ~50/60MB an hour, intensive play (WvW zerging for example) can go through 150~200 MB/hour.
You will at best get 20 hours of play from 1GB, not including any other things you want to use your mobile data for
one of every class, all level 80. See no reason to have any more than one of each.
EU has to pay VAT on digital purchases, USA does not, so we pay 20~25% more, yes.
You can get around this by asking a trusted USA friend to purchase a key for you, and paypaling the funds to them, though.
Yes this is true. I’m not griping about the price U.s>U.k because this has always existed, just the disparity between the Uk and the rest of europe.
probably something to do with pound to euro conversion rate fees, as we have to pay through digital river Ireland, who deal in euro, not pounds.

“This test will be conducted on a special server with limited space and will be by special invitation only.”
One of the reasons I prepurchased was for the beta access. I will be very upset if prepurchase owners are not part of the “special invitations”
It’s an understandable concern. ANet need to get their fingers out and give us info. They need to stop with this utterly absurd “We’re only going to talk about things when they’re 100% iron clad and set in stone” policy and just talk to us.
I’d imagine it’s also horrifically frustrating for the Anet staff too but they need to speak up against their senior’s policies and a lot of people won’t do that for fear of their job security.
The silence policy from ANet has driven off quite a number from my guild and even I am slowly becoming more and more frustrated with the drips, not even trickles, of info we’re getting.
I was under the impression reveals would speed up after they announced prepurchases but clearly I was wrong. Now we’re getting info about some new tweak to the pvp map rather than the content that so, SO many people have cried out that they want to know about.
Anet: Please for the love of all you hold dear, give us the challenging group content info ASAP at the very least. Hold off on other things if you have to, but my guild and I are growing incredibly restless and increasingly disinterested.
I have been in love with GW2 since the day I started playing and I’ve defended Anet where I’ve seen I should and criticised where I thought it needed, and right now severe criticism, change and growth is in dire need.
As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I’m assuming the Greatsword trait won’t apply in reaper shroud, so we won’t get heals from hitting things with that.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t. One of the (very few) plus points to axe before the trait rework (not sure about after, I don’t use axe, myself) was that the damage bonus from the axe trait applied even while in DS, so people would swap to axe mainhand to pop DS
Dhuumfire is meh anyway. even as a condi build the damage is negligible as the burn doesn’t last long enough to stack decently.
I myself am leaning towards giving up Spite for Reaper to run a Reaper/Soul Reaping/Blood Magic build given that the Reaper line (in the iteration we saw last) has plenty of modifiers for damage on it’s own, and given how strong Vital Persistence will likely be when coupled with the LF generation of Reaper Shroud 1 (Permashroud, anyone?).
I’m aiming for general effectiveness in HoT PvE and WvW, rather than dungeon speed clears.
Thoughts? Opinions? What will you be giving up and why?
As I recall from the PoI, the tour guide is a parody of the various criticisms the ANet staff threw at each other while designing various aspects of LA. Having her with one name may ruin that “group collective” symbolism
Might as well post again, my necro main, currently wearing abyssal dwayna outfit until I get the TA light armour unlocked.
As a sidenote, the top of Phoenix Roost provides an awesome “selfie” screenshot area
You’re either picking the wrong parties or not using your class well.
I never have a problem picking up pug groups as a necro in any dungeon I want to run. Just don’t join those groups that demand “80 only ping zerk gear 6kAP+”, because they will likely kick anyone who pugs with them on the first miss-step.
So what would happen if ANet had a Patreon?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: rapthorne.7345
As much as I would enjoy more ways to support ANet, Patreon would not be the way to go. I believe one of the stipulations of using Patreon is that donators have to receive some sort of exclusive benefits or goody of some sort, which would not sit well with people.
You will not receive access to: Revenant, Heart of Maguuma, Elite Specialisations, story updates beyond LS2, possibly guild halls (citation needed), the mastery system, etc.
Essentially, you can still continue to access the game in it’s current form, but that’s it.
Some of the VA’s do get a bit graating after several months, yes I suggest swapping to the sylvari master race, whose voices are always awesome no matter what.
The short version is: You can continue playing, but will not receive any content updates outside the original game up to LS2 nor be able to access HoT content except that which is made available to all (like the new WvW and PvP maps)
Personally, I wouldn’t mind an optional sub with benefits akin to tera/rift (ie benefits that are purely convenience/luxury, not out of the reach of non-sub player), but I don’t think it’s a good idea to go with due to the sheer number of people that player this game BECAUSE it’s not a sub game (optional or not).
I mean I buy enough gems in a month to cover a standard sub fee several times over, so I’d be happy to sub and support the game that way, but many never spend another penny after original purchase.
I hope so! I want one of those little raptors!
Sadly, the average gamer is becoming more casual (In terms of demographic) so games are incentivised to create content with a casual approach in mind.
It sucks, but unless the average gamer suddenly becomes more in to hardcore content, it won’t change. GW2 caters to casuals and I doubt even the “challenging group content” will actually be all that challenging.
I love GW2 to death, but it really does need to broaden it’s horizons in terms of making the game engage you more

(edited by rapthorne.7345)
I don’t anticipate any huge performance bumps, with exception to heavy smoke/particle effect scenes that some older cards have always struggled with. As far as I’m aware Anet are aiming to not increase the system requirements to let as many people as possible continue playing. To my knowledge this has always been one of their core aims with how wide the quality settings (from 2002 early PS2 graphics on low to the beautiful screenshots and videos you can get on everything maxed on everything maxed) to make the game as available as possible to people across a wide variety of system specs.
I think a warhorn used as a channeling tool to call down storms on people sounds pretty epic.
Current itterations of WH skills aren’t amazing, I’ll give you that (Though I eprsonally enjoy Necro WH) but that doesn’t mean that Tempest’s WH (if indeed it even IS a WH) won’t be
