Let us make child characters!

In the Never Ending Story, the hero was a child. And the empress was a child. There’s nothing wrong with fantasy characters being young heros.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_NeverEnding_Story_

It’s a huge problem when people can see them die and role play.

However I wish I could Make my character look older.

Yes i rather given the option to create old characters that looks like and sounds like one. A lot of game let us tune the voice younger or older. This may allow younger and older characters creation without a need to modify character creation screen.

The difference is, most games that have multiple voices only have various yells, grunts and spell casts voiced. GW2 has hundreds, maybe thousands of voiced dialogue lines for player characters making multiple VA’s for each race and gender incredibly expensive.

It kinda makes me lose hope in this community that so many of you are ok with idea of not killing Mordremoth, or at least concluding the Mordremoth story arch in HoT…. :’-(

Any living story after HoT release IS part of HoT, and I#d rather they didn’t put mordremoth in a personal story instance and make him die with 1 spam, please.

I want the Mordremoth fight to be awesome, epic and large-scale combat done via long term storytelling. If it’s all done within the personal story then some people will have killed mordremoth within a few weeks of the pact getting utterly annihilated and scattered through the jungle. That’s just not viable given the entire continent’s various factions had to band together just to take on Zhaitan.

The pact needs to regroup, recover, and set up shop in the jungle before they can even hope to focus on defeating Mordremoth. That is a long-term thing and realistically can’t be achieved swiftly.

I don’t see why you’d be disappointed, because if ele gets an offhand, they also get awesome new profession mechanics.

I will feel bad if ele don’t get sword for all those people who crafted bolt in readiness for it though, but this is a prime example of why you shouldn’t rely on datamining.

HoT is supposed to introduce Living Story Season 3, so I’d assume we won’t be taking down Morderemoth with any HoT personal story, but as the final episode of the HoT living story

But if it’s part of the expansion, it’s not LW, it’s the expansion.. LW eps are the releases between xpacs. Maybe I don’t understand exactly what you mean?…

The LW continues into HoT areas. To my undrestanding without HoT you will not have access to new LW episodes either. Thus further LW can be seen as part of HoT expansion.

It’s not really a big problem though, since most of the Korean and Japanese games have this kind of feature. People are complaining about the “ethical issue” of the game, but guess what, the US and some European countries have much higher adolescence crime rates/prostitution than Korean and Japanese!

This speaks volumes about some “western standard” being misleading propaganda and shows an essence of arrogance and ignorance.

People create child characters because they like children, not because they like seeing children suffered.

The simple fact is, ANet have an ESRB teen rating. They have to follow strict guidelines to maintain that rating.

As far as I’m aware, Tera is rated as Mature, and so will Blade and Soul be.

It’s nothing to do with real life ethics or morality, so stop bringing up something that has absolutely bugger all to do with the topic.

This is the list of the most profitable MMO there are and I will ask you this if any is gonna wanna watch it. What do most of those games have in common?

Revenue =/= profit.

Almost all on that list are competitive Multiplayer team games with corporate partnerships and international sponsored esports events. There is no gateway to entry because the normal playerbase have almost no impact at all on the game’s profits other than as consumers of advertising (skin sales and whatnot are a drop in the bucket compared to sponsorship deals)

Please let me know what happens to my GW2 if i am unable to afford expansion pack but wish to carry on playing GW2

I can’t believe that this expansion is pricing players out of the game. This game is truly becoming an art for elitists. Not just in price but in in- game politics too.

My heart simply saddens the more I learn about Heart of Thorns, as these thorns have truly scratched this gaming community. This will become a thorn in everyone’s side.

I can’t believe that there are people in the world without the money management skills to be able to afford to save up $50 over the course of the several months that it will take for HoT to release.

If you can’t afford to buy HoT, you likely have far more pressing things to be focusing on than playing GW2

The world is a big place and in some countries people get that much money after 8 days of work and that is in well off countries like Bulgaria and Russia in many others you need to work 1 month to get so many.
The life of those people should not be stress and struggle all the time they do not work less then any others and should relax with a video game also.

There are plenty of F2P games on the market. GW2 is B2P and the quality of it reflects that.

Anet will not make concessions for people too poor to purchase their product, because the majority of people that play have the means to keep playing (The joys of a B2P game).

If you are genuinely struggling with money, you can stay with the base GW2 game, nothing’s forcing anyone to upgrade.

If you are on a low income but love and want to support the game, then save up and learn money management, it’s not hard to do. I’m on a low income myself but I manage my money well and can easily afford to buy GW2 HoT ultimate on top of regularly buying gems.

You know what the problem with quality is? It is subjective as art is. You can not say objectively that GW2 as B2P is better then a F2P .
As I mentioned in another topic the most profitable MMO is F2P and has ten’s of millions of active players.

League gets it’s money from sponsorship deals and advertising contracts as well as ticket sales from it’s Esport events, it has almost nothing to do with the standard playerbase and everything to do with the pro scene.

Not sure what that has to do with what I’m saying, though.

Its not League of Legend that MMO I was reffering to. Also is not GW2 in the Esport thing?

GW2 has twitch streamed tournaments of a few thousand views. League (which is the most profitable MMO in the world, so you’re misinformed with whatever else you’re thinking) has stadiums full of people attending events to watch their tournaments live and millions of concurrent views worldwide when they host tournaments.

GW2 esports and LoL esports is like comparing a local club to an international all star team.

If you’re referring to Tera, which I think you may be, then tera’s success rides mostly on the nature of the game and the fact that it’s the first of it’s genre (ie, a “true” action MMORPG) but tera is steadily losing players over the grind and the fact that the era of the action game has arrived. There are new action MMO’s being released every month, and a myriad of martial arts MMO’s released last year (at least 5 I can think of off the top of my head).

Tera is also not truly F2P, it’s a freemium game that used to be subscription based (ie, free but with optional subscription, but used to be mandatory sub). And Tera has about 18 million registrations, but that’s worldwide and includes every bot account ever banned, every person that registered but never tried it, and every person that’s quit, not active players

Firstly, we don’t know whether or not there will be dungeons. While not confirmed, we can assume the ‘challenging group content’ they’ve yet to go into is instanced content:

Simply put: we haven’t announced it yet – when we’re ready to show everything about our plans for challenging content for HoT, we’ll announce it.

Though it isn’t the “challenging content” feature discussed in our announcement – I will add we want our open world content experience to be more challenging as well just in general.

As for the data-mining, everyone assumed that Ele was going to be getting a main-hand sword, but now new data-mining throws up the speculation that they may be getting a warhorn.

Not to mention this.

This.

Data mining is extraction of in-progress work from the client. It could change at any time for any reason. Anyone taking datamining as absolute fact will, sooner or later, be very sorely disappointed.

Always be speculative and careful with datamined info, as it is absolutely never set in stone. Look at the recent switch in speculation from tempest sword to WH at the moment, for example. In the end, who knows – Ele might even get a pistol and toolkits (Doubt it, but it’s always a possibility)

To maintain the Teen rating GW2 has, they can’t allow people to play as children in life threatening situations, where your child character can “die” and has interaction options with alcohol and innuendo.

It also utterly goes against the lore of the game. Sylvari doesn’t have children, and the children of the other races are very clearly just normal kids minding their own business and doing kid stuff, with exception to one or two asuran progeny

Everyone’s entitled to their religious beliefs, but that doesn’t mean everyone else should dance around them for the pure sake of not offending them. If that was the way the world worked, a vast amount of everyday things would be off-limits.

I respect people’s personal religious beliefs, but religious people should respect that not everyone believes as they do, it’s quite simple really

So you are saying, if you had a gay friend that got married, and he/she gets stoned to death because of it (since that’s the punishment), you would respect it and won’t say anything?

Not at all, but I would respect the rights of people to disapprove of it, freedom of expression is a two way street. Taking it to the extremes of being stoned is obviously completely blowing what I’m saying out of context and proportion.

I support LGBT rights, I always have, but I also respect religious freedom though I am not religious in any way, shape or form myself.

People have the right to believe that something is wrong, same as I have the right to disagree with their beliefs.

People have the right to Gay Marriage, and people have the right to disagree with gay marriage.

I think the best way to put it is a quote by Evelyn Beatrice Hall: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”

As long as someone’s personal beliefs stay personal, and they don’t try to push what they believe on to the lives of someone else, then all is well and good.

What if someone is muslim? Their religion does not allow gay marriage and it’s a serious offense.

I’m guessing from what I’ve read in this thread so far, the majority would simply say that some opinions are right and some are wrong, so being a Muslim is just wrong.

LGBT is a community that supports the equal rights of people who do not fall in to the heterosexual spectrum, but that doesn’t mean LGBT supporters are against heterosexuality at all.

I’m Heterosexual, but a big advocate for LGBT rights (And equal rights as a whole, which we have a long way to go on).

If you wanted to create a guild openly advocating heterosexual relationship rights (Of which there are a myriad anyway) then go for it, that’s your business. I just don’t see what purpose it would serve other than as a thinly veiled childish jab at the LGBT movement.

It saddens me to see how many people are split on this issue of treating people as equal to one another.

Perhaps society hasn’t advanced all too much in the past century, after all. Everyone should have the right to have their love and relationship recognised by society and now, at least in America, that will happen. About bloody time, I say.

As for this being about politics: it isn’t. It’s about narrow religious beliefs and, fundamentally, Church and State are supposed to be separate so let’s be real here; this is not about politics, it’s about people of specific religious views being offended that something that goes against their religious belief system (regardless of how biggoted and narrow minded it is) has been recognised by society and is being supported across the country by a multitude of companies and corporations. Even facebook and twitter are letting you publicly show your support for this great victory in the battle for equality for all.

Now if ANet had tweeted something to do with confederate flag, that’s something I’d be entirely against. As it is, Anet simply tweeted their support of equality for all. Good on them

Tomes of knowledge still exist, and if you tome yourself to 80 (thereby avoiding the “repetitive grind” you seem to dislike) you will have enough HP to unlock absolutely everything in the core class. every skill, every trait, just by being level 80.

This is vastly superior to the old system, where you could tome to 80 and have nothing unlocked at all, and still have to shell out gold and skill points for traits.

Now just by virtue of being level 80, you can get everything currently available to your class at no extra cost.

Best power necro dungeon specs?

in Necromancer

Posted by: rapthorne.7345

rapthorne.7345

Why are some people using warhorn over focus? Locust Swarm does about the same damage as Reaper’s Touch except it has double the cooldown and doesn’t apply vulnerability.

Then again, I’m also not really sure why some people are taking staff and the Death Shroud traits. Dagger is still better single-target DPS. Changing to staff for mediocre Life Blast damage isn’t worth it.

WH5 has a kittenload of damage ticks, so it’s great for easily negating blind and also procs vampiric presence on every single damage tick/hit (Which is a flat damage buff on top of any damage tick, as well as huge sustain).

Focus would probably be better in a single target situation, but the low cd daze and utility from WH5 VP makes WH outshine focus right now (at least for me).

DS as a whole has become more popular due to the BM line and it’s per-tick damage modifier, so skills with loads of ticks like DS4 and WH5 have actually received a significant damage increase from VP.

Probably is still better to remain out of DS using d/wh/f, but overall, given the downscaling nerfs and indirect massive buffs to condi using dungeon mobs, deathshroud is much more attractive right now than it was before the patch.

Both sets should be released for permanent purchase in the Gem Store.

They probably won;t be, though, as the 24 hour surprise sales induce impulse buying of gems that otherwise wouldn’t have happened if they were there permanently due to 500 gems being very little gold to farm up over a few days. Thieving from Thieves - PS Dialogue bug

In the mission Thieving From Thieves (Skritt choice steal black powder from centaurs), Tybalt displays Forgal’s dialogue, and also speaks in Forgal’s Voice in some parts of it (Ambient mission dialogue, not cutscenes)

One such instances is the “Why do we bother to try” line

I absolutely love these little troublemakers, big thanks to whoever took the time and effort in to adding these guys and all their interactions in the game.

It’s also super awesome that they even use the waypoints to get around.

What interactions have people seen thus far with them? I’ve seen them make off with an apple, investigate that shady inn and a few other things

half an hour on a live server is equivalent to several months of focused QA testing.

Many issues in QA never actually appear or can be replicated outside of a live test scenario.

don’t know what on earth makes you think either of those two swords are even remotely tempest/ele themed. They look far more thematically suited to revenant, to me.

I for one am very impressed by ANet making such huge changes and being willing to shake things up. Most devs wouldn’t have the balls to change things so much and this causes stagnation (Need I remind people of the countless complaints there have been about the berserker meta being the only one viable in PvE?).

Good on you guys, ANet, for being willing to change it up. Condi is definitely erring a little on the strong side for the moment but in the case of world bosses I beg you to increase their scaling rather than introduce any significant nerfs to condi. Don’t make Condi’s glory die in days when Berserker has had years.

Also please look at each specific condition, rather than blanket nerf them all. Burning is by far and away the most ridiculously overpowered of the conditions right now and burn damage most definitely needs to be nerfed, but please for the love of whatever you hold most dear, don’t nerf condi necro super hard by just blanket nerfing all conditions, we’ve needed love for a long time, and this has finally given us some decent viability in various game modes.
