Only negative feedback I can think of is:
Mid-size and smaller guilds have not been invited to the beta

our guild usually runs 15ish people and about 10 were invited in the second and third stress test

As many are noting, we have years of anecdotal evidence from other games showing that, while some would use them to improve the game, the vocal majority would just use them as a tool to incite drama, encourage exclusionary behavior, and put people down. I realize some of that happens already, but it isnt something Anet should support in any way.

As useful as the information might be, the positives simply do not outweigh the negatives.

I’d agree with this also.

While I would want to have it mainly so I can tweak my own performance and build. I would also use it to see how others are performing and would form negative opinions about under performing individuals. Its human nature and thus serves as a divisive tool. Currently, if a group under performs you shrug it off since you can’t really pinpoint who the weak links are and in the end you benefit from it by having less stress.

GW2 is a game made for casuals so that any random group of people can join together and beat content. Content is made with this in mind and doesn’t require people to be running only the most optimal builds to beat it and I prefer it stay that way. Having a DPS meter encourages elitism and I’m guilty of this myself when I played WoW.

Of course raid leaders could request that you share that information, but then it is YOUR choice to share it.

My Opinion

Problem with this is already evident in the current game.
Lfg: Ping gear on join.
Player: I don’t want to.
Group: kicks player.

Then someone says, well you should read. Eventually 90% of the ad postings say ping gear or run meta build. So now, the player has only one choice if they want to do the content. Ping their gear or can’t do the content because there are barely any ads that don’t ask for them to ping their gear. Also, profession limitations as well:

LFG: No necro or ranger.
Player: But they’re my main character!
Group: kicks player.

There will be lfg ads saying, your personal DPS rating must be greater than ____ to join us. That kinda sounds somewhat ok for raids but players won’t use it just for raids. It will leak into various lfg ads. When everyone does the same thing, new solutions are not always found. People become content with the status quo and new solutions to harder content are only found by a minority of players. Then this information is eventually shared or leaked to the community. But again, I understand how it will be useful in raids but not in other areas of the game.

Nah i just think they are nerfing it because they want people to buy xpac. More ways to earn gold in xpax, not so much in core game.

Most people that do dungeons for fun, will do it several times before stopping. However, a lot of people play dungeons now to farm. Dungeons are a core part of Central Tyria. If dungeons rewards are “significantly” less, that may lead to an increase downfall of dungeons like in GW1. Where it was harder to find groups dedicated to completing a specific dungeon due to players being involved with other areas of the game. However, if dungeons gold is only slightly nerfed I don’t see a problem. Feel free to voice your thoughts.

I’ve asked around and everyone agrees it’s intended.

No it def isn’t if it were intended there would be a task bar available displaying it. Not be some secret thing that you find out by accident or testing (like finding out a skill hits more than once or the cd is broken) there would also probably be traits for it. I’m not saying it’s an exploit I’m just saying its a function that is currently not working as intended.

the only people who will say that it’s meant to be that way are people who like taking advantage of it.

In my opinion, this is not a bug but a class mechanic that should go on the Ranger’s forum for people to discuss. Rangers downed state has been this way since 2012. It’s something that is special to a range because they have pets. The other professions don’t have pets. To me the feature makes sense, just because your downed you should be able to give vocal commands to your pet. Being downed doesn’t silence your voice xD.

I get what you’re saying but again I feel like this mechanic isn’t lost when a ranger is downed…you call your pet to res you…and it can actually fully res you which is more than many other downstate abilities can do…so in turn the synergy with the pet is still there with the down state skill. I’m aware it has been s way since 2012 and I’m dares sing it now bc I noticed nothing had been done about it….my view is this, either you add a taskbar in downstate to specifically to show it is a mechanic not just in regular combat but in downstate or fix it so that like every other class this unique mechanic only works in normal combat.

Because anet has never acknowledged this with the taskbar and no one has ever really brought it up anet has just failed to notice…and this happens….I mean the tonic exploit is still doable and they supposedly fixed it but no ones really spoken about it so anet hasn’t notice….I bring it to the attention of anet on this forum not to complain but for it to be fixed….either to show it that this IS the way that it’s intended and showing us evidence not just having it be a hidden thing to discover or remove that function from the downstate because that isn’t how it was intended…it’s not a cry to remove it just simply to address it in a clear manner.

Only negative feedback I can think of is:
Mid-size and smaller guilds have not been invited to the beta, that I know of, to test these maps havoc or small group roaming gameplay. Instead bigger guilds or WvW only guilds are being invited to give their feedback. The same circumstances occurred with Edge of the Mists. Not all servers have 24 hour zerg coverage, when the zerg isn’t around it is up to scouts and havoc groups to maintain the map. However, many mid to smaller WvW guilds feel neglected. Like their feedback is less relevant than bigger WvW guilds.

It is nice, that bigger guilds get feedback and practice on the new map before they’re released. However, it just mean many mid to small size guilds will be clueless when these maps are released on October 23rd.

capes worked in gw1 due to the fact we could only play as a human race in gw2 we have charr and we all know if they made capes and a charr had one people would moan about the tail clipping through it

I’d say the tail isn’t the issue.

How to drape it over a hunchback is the issue…

Tail clipping = make the cape shorter on charr.

Hunchback = the guild backpack has a small banner that flaps on it, that lays on the backpack just fine on charr, thus they CAN rig it to not clip through the charr’s hunch.

Really there is no reason to not have them in the game. They would look infinitely better than most of the back items we have cluttering our screens as it is.

If you mean the guild backpack with the flag…that does not look natural, in my opinion. That cape is perpendicular to the character’s back which is way easier to implement than a cape that is parallel. If you meant the guild bookbag, that back piece doesn’t move at all. It’s like having a baby karka stuck to your back XD. Anet, did say the problem with capes is all the clipping issues with various character models. A developer was working on capes in their free time but ran into the previously mention issues. If I had choose between HoT and capes, I would choose HoT.

Either this is some ruse to throw people off, or anet have really just thrown all the old lore out and are just making up nonsense now. If these things were created 300 years ago then why did glint never mention them, why did we never see them in gw1?

But they were there all along! loooool, pls hire new lore writers anet.

Glint lived for thousands of years, there is no way she would tell us everything in one to three encounters. Our minds wouldn’t be able to absorb everything she knows.

anyone else find that the LS is too hard? ..I don’t mind the achievements being hard, I can live without the ap, but it’s pretty frustrating to not be able to complete an episode or if it to take so long that it becomes boring.

the chapt 8, dragon boss, I can not beat. I don’t have a bunch of people I can team up with…..and even if I did..it shouldn;t “require” that.

anyway,,,what I am wondering, is not whether people like the encounter or didn’t find it challenging, I’m wondering if there others who felt it’s too hard…that anet has starting to push to offering “challenging” encounters for those asking for it, but isn’t thinking about those who haven’t.

Again, I’m ok with the achieves being challenging…but the first run through shouldn’t be.

The current Living Story Season 2 has been nerfed severely since 2014. However, if you would like some help with a particular mission…feel free to message me.

From all the rest of possibilites that are there I think the only ones that ever should become playable are:

  • Tengus
  • Largos (after a redesign)

I would rather the Largos not be redesign but to stay as is. With that being said, they’re original design would not fit our current characters armors. There would be horrible clipping issues with the wings. The Charr are not happy about their tail and horns clipping issues. There will be legions of players against the Largos’ wings clipping issues.

we do not need mounts, we have waypoints
creatures ingame do use beasts for cargo transport but riding them seems not ok.

2 months later we see mordrem guards on mounts. Can we have mounts now?

No.

For benefit of GW2 and its population, i hope ANet one day comes to realize that mounts should be added in the game.

Just not for WvWvW, and in Pve should give no extra speed or any other additional benefit. But people should be able to have them.

Mounts are a great part of any other AAA mmorpg D&D tittle.

We have swiftness for speed. Although, I’m not opposed to GW1 mounts like the ones that were used in missions only.

What do I need for my lvl 80 ranger to activate the druid elite specialization? Do I need for instance a minimum amount of hero points? etc.

You’ll need hero points, they have yet to tell us how many. I hope we find out before the week of launch.

Yay! I was able to join a party this evening while tagged up.

Yes, that works just fine. People that join your squad will no longer be in a party.

It’s back to ‘normal’ for now. Squads will be just a tag and added chat channel till HoT is out, or perhaps some pre-HoT update to prepare for its release.

Once all of the invite/join features are enabled and the UI fully implmeneted, the new squad system should be completely on-par with the party system. So being tagged up will just mean a bigger “party” with a different UI. There won’t be any reason to be in a party as well as your squad, since the squad replaces all party functionality.

during the last beta weekend we had different music in the main menu and even that felt kind of exciting and refreshing. It would be cool to as well have a brand new character select screen when the expansion hits. I’m thinking darker colors, dark brown, black, lots of green and vines strewn about everywhere. What do you think?

Well, you’re training him. He needs to get a tag in order to get credit, and thus xp for the victory.

Yes, that does make sense logically but players are normally in kill mode when they see enemies xD.

The problem arises in almost every escort type event. People tend to go more and more ahead of the NPC. In the end either the NPC will be stuck in weird spots or it will wait for fights forever.
Best example is probably the escort close to meddler’s summit in Cursed Shore, or that quaggan in Snowden drift.
Sometimes making mobs kill the NPC unfreezes the event but it doesn’t always work.
I hope Anet will eventually review those type of events and add a reset option in the code for the already existing and new escorts as these can stall meta event forever…

I ran into several events where killing the NPC was the most optimal way to restart the event. But then a random player will come along, kill the enemy and save the NPC lol. I feel for Faren’s event, one Bongo NPC should be invulnerable for a few seconds so Faren is guaranteed to hit it. That may help with older escorts events too, in my opinion.

The warhorn sounds are embarrassingly bad. I’m really, really hoping it’s placeholder stuff.

I hope so too, I remember on a livestream they said the warhorn would get a unique audio sound for the tempest. That was around BWE1 time.

OP, i feel your pain. It is MMORPG, the second M is “multiplayer”, it is not “social”, then it would be MSORPG. Secondly the R stands for “role” and lone wolf is a perfect role. I typically also prefer to roam around on my own, sometimes in a small guild group.
I do however hope that the new maps are full of solo-explorable places (or at least some, that you can get to with the people you meet randomly). On the BW3 at last I felt I could participate in most event flows as a single player. Raids will be a problem, but they will be a problem anyways.

Solo activities will be in Verdant Brink and the other new maps on release.

This bug was brought up during BWE2 but it has returned for BWE3. When Lord Master Faren does not hit a single, “Bongo the One-Eyed” clone, the entire event freezes. To make sure the event doesn’t break, we had to tell people to let Faren hit one of the " Bongo the One-Eyed" clone. I hope this is helpful for solving the bug with this event.

For BWE3, we were unable to break the breakbar of the Wyvern during Swordmaster Faren’s escort. We had over 30 people and the breakbar only went down 3-4 cms before it took off. We also coordinate our CCs, I’m unsure whether to put this in the bug forum or here.

A mesmer playing the new traitline is still a mesmer, so why the new icon? I don’t understand the need for these new profession icons. Especially in pvp, they actually remove an element of gameplay I like: the element of surprise. Sure, there are some traitlines in the game you can identify just by selecting the player (Marksmanship because of Opening Strike, for example), but in most cases, you can not. Discovering too late that a thief plays Critical Strikes, or that a mesmer plays Illusions can lead to a rapid death.

Guild Wars 2 always had this idea of forcing players to pay attention to what’s going on in the fight, to read their opponent. To be honest, I don’t like this extra pre-fight information. What do you think?

The new elite specializations are almost like getting a new profession. So they probably felt it was wise to give them their own icons. There is still the element of surprise because you don’t know what role that elite spec is specializing for. I’m fine with either with or without icons, since I don’t know how the player set their build.

I don’t think it was ever explained what happened to her in season 1. She escaped into the edge of the mist to work on things for scarlet but after that she just poof.

Do you think she will appear in HoT?

Mai Trinn, simply escaped to the Mists. She didn’t mention anything about working for Scarlet anymore. The aetherblades seem to be free from Scarlet’s influence imo.

The number of bombs required takes way too long, its like that little boy next to the maw that want salvage scraps. Most people turn in one item, then leave and let others do it. As a result, it takes even LONGER to complete this event. Several people felt the event was bugged and left it. In BWE2, this event wasn’t abandoned as much as it was in BWE3.

In general , I’m starting to like the Tempest more. I still haven’t used attunement overloading much but that’s ok. I feel, I would use them more in Raids. However, I want to say Lightning Orb seems weaker in dps for a 25 second CD.

Tried to combo with Napalam (fire field) + Rocket Charge several times but could not receive might when leaping through the field. I notice you receive might when you land, not when you leap. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not.

Update:
Someone pointed out to me that Rocket Charge is a Leap Finisher not a blast. I’m not sure how I received might (sometimes).

The tempest warhorn is using the whoopie cushion sound effect from a few months ago. The warhorn sound was made better last month but not the whoopie cushion.

As cool as that would be, both Kurzick’s and Luxson’s and been crushed and brought back in to the Dragon Empire. So Alliance battles would not make much sense.

Fort Aspenwood is basically in GW2 now as Champion’s Dawn.

Ok, first of all, I know the devs are aware of this, but if the 53-page, two-year-old thread doesn’t have enough weight yet, let me just pile on a bit more on the “We Want Cantha” side of things.

You need new races? I’ve got three.
1. Tengu.
I haven’t even read this thread but I would be flabbergasted to learn if nobody had suggested this before.

2. Kurzick.

3: Luxons.

There you go, if the reason we don’t have Cantha in the works was because you didn’t want to make two different groups of Humans, I just fixed it, free of charge.

Kurzick and Luxons are no more, they brought to an end by the Kaineng Emperor.

Its fine that ele’s can’t stay as top dps class forever, but it would be nice if eles had other roles we could fall back on in pve. Defiance negates a focus on CC, Aura’s are personal and has minor effects, and healing is not a thing. Maybe if PS warriors didn’t exist then might stacking could be their thing, but as it is we don’t have a trait that give party might without a ICD.

I did multiple trials and ask around in Heart of the Mists but none were able to get the combo Regeneration to work with the Mortar kit. We tried using #5 then fire at an ally and ourselves. No one received the health regeneration boon.
