Only one way to break the zerker meta without introducing harder restrictions and that is to make the AI effective enough to counterplay it within the rulesets of the game.

- If players can dodge, so should a lot of the mobs, and should do it reactively and effectively.
- If players can lay down effective smoke fields and stack the opposition around the corner, mobs should be able to do this against players, reflects? mobs should be able to do this just as effectively.
- If players are capable of monster healing and effective water blasting etc, so should mobs.

Making the ai smarter does sound interesting when they encounter zerkers.

Hoping they do respond to this, we already got a confirmation that there isn’t a dungeon team. Knowing that whether activities are completely abandoned or if an activity team even exist will put some people at ease.

Still waiting on the fix for the Personal Story. It’s been months now and I think it’s time for a follow-through.

I agree, I’m somewhat avoiding the NPE until Personal Story lore issue is resolved.

I remember reading about this when GW2 launched there are npcs in Black Citadel and Divinty’s Reach that still talk about these activities (don’t delete them XD). It has been two years and several activities were delayed because “Lord Cadecus” is holding a party or something. For two years, he has been holding the same party. So my question is, will these activities come out one day or have they been permanently forgotten about? I was really looking forward to the Charr Battle Vehicle activity.

I think its confusing for all players, like a truck load of options. Either that or make the border around the attunment pop up selection thicker. Right now it is a thin white box indicating what attunment you’re in. I had to explain to several experience elementalist how to see which pop up is for them.

I’m not sure if this should go into suggestion or the Elementalist forums.
The Glpyh of Elementals elite skill pop up, covers the entire vertical portion of the screen when mouse over. It would be great if the pop up would only reflect what attunement you are in.

With the basic Non-expanded space you are given you can have 100 slots of inventory space if you have all size 20 bags. There are many awesome crafted (hidden) recipes for neat types of Bags:

Sure new players may not know all of this but when they get introduced to crafting they will likely notice it.

NPE Gemstore and GW1 Merchants

Hello ArenaNet,

While the focus is on the New Player Experience, I wanted to address the Gemstore. New players run into inventory issues fast because they do not know what to keep or not to keep. GW1 solved this problem by allowing new players to speak to merchants to buy Weapon Kits (to store their weapons in). In GW2, they are not able to expand the number of bags they carry unless they go through the Gemstore. Gold to gem costs have gone up but new players are still earning the same amount of gold they did in 2012. Allowing people to buy more inventory slots through a merchant with a constant fee would help ease players into GW2 more.

I’m still waiting for the story order to be resolved for the later chapters. So we don’t meet characters earlier than we should. ArenaNet said they would resolve this, I have no idea if they have done it or not. It wasn’t listed in any wiki game updates notes.

I still feel having the story in chapters up to Claw Island is fine but I would prefer the old way after Claw Island to resolve the story order issue. If its possibly to resolve the problem with the new chapter system, I’ll be fine with it too.

There is a node in Obsidian Sanctum Jumping Puzzle that says it is a Rich Orichalcum Node. However, it only allows us to collect 3 – 4 ori from it.

I read somewhere they wanted to redo underwater combat. Also, when we get the Deep Sea Dragon (2017+) there will probably be underwater cities and dungeons.

Botting is not the correct category, and I think Anet frowns upon false reports of botting. I know I would want the false accuser reprimanded if they were accusing me of botting when I wasn’t. Isn’t there an “Other” category to choose from where you can describe exactly what they are doing?

No there isn’t, that’s the problem I listed to ArenaNet and the PvP community responded to put it under botting. If there isn’t a right category to put it under, then I and others can’t say its a false report. If Anet doesn’t come out with the category of “leeching” as they did in GW1, then what other choice do we have than to report them as botting?

Leeching is basically botting but with no movement, so I agree with what the PvP Community is saying. Until ArenaNet gives us an “other” or “leeching” category.

They are worth a few silver, if you vendor them.

Then problem solved! What was all the hand wringing about?

Its about how Ascended Items should be able to be salvage into materials for 475 crafting for level 500 jewelry so we can prepare for that day.

Ascended rings are still piling up for people that run fractals frequently. Can we please get some sort of option to salvage these items? If we get unique material for Jeweler 500 that would be great but its not required. Right now we just want more room in our banks before we have to sell them to the merchant for 2 silver. I have about 2 pane full of ascended rings lol.

I experienced this in Fractals also. The Charr Siege fractal would not allow me or anyone else change our skills once in the fractal but we could once out or in the next fractal.

This happen to us today in the Thaumnova Fractal. Also, during world boss runs we cannot change our skills when out of combat.

I just tried to help my sister with her story and got called a troll for asking if we could complete the event. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was reported for griefing.

Literally ONE person said they’d help us complete the event, everyone else shouted at us to go join another server because “this is the only one that has a farm on it.” We tried guesting onto other servers with lower population but they were all farming too.

Is there a way we could organize a server that completes the event and keeps it running as a public service? Or are we going to have to wait until this is nerfed?

Unfortunately with mega server this isn’t anymore. However, I would just complete the event and ignore map chat or say chat. Despite the people yelling at you, if you need help completing the LS event just messaged me in game. I’ll be glad to help with that event, no one should be stopped from progressing through their story.

My friend got kicked from guild for crashing to loot train for doing living story.He was unlucky that officer was on the train and forget to look at map chat /whisper.

I wouldn’t want to be a part of a guild that does that.

farmer toxicity is nothing new, its unfortunately occurs anywhere many ppl abuse a farm, orr, frostgorge. Last time I was in cursed shore, someone called out an event, they said no dont go there, train is at this event, I asked where that first event was that was called out because I didnt know where it was, I had no intention of interfering with their precious farm, but they got so defensive and paranoid, those jerks went on and on with their toxic laced reactions. Greed rots their minds. I also node farm in frostgorge, and I see this every single day with the champ farmers and the coil farmers, its really disgusting to see people act like this over virtual crap.

Its messed up you had to experience that.

The double professions and large amount of skills in GW1 is what also kept the game really unbalanced and the double professions and the large number of skills that came with it is also what made a lot players shy away from the game because it was to overwhelming for them (hints* why Anet dumb down GW2).

GW1 was more balanced than GW2 for the simple fact that for any given build, there was enough depth in the game to come up with a build that countered it. As for dumbing down, well I think most people would say they went way too far in the other direction.

For GW2, the same applies. In my opinion GW2 is more balance than GW1 skills. There were over 70+ skills that people did not use because they were poor or were just not favorable to use when compared to other skills. Nearly all of the skills in GW2, have uses that make them worthwhile to put on your utility bar depending on your playstyle. Those that aren’t worthwhile are corrected to resolve their deficiency bringing them more into balance and are not forgotten or ignored like many skills in GW1.

Huh, I can see how it would be frustrating for it to restart the spinning. Perhaps there is a happy middle ground where it starts out spinning then once you move the camera it stops.

I’m all for this! No longer spinning circles of death..reminds me of the mac spinning beach ball of…death x.x Connection!

GW2 is not an MMORPG. It is, maybe a MMOFPS. There is no RPG in GW2 because there is no freedom to create anything other than cookie cutter toons. And at that there is a desire to make all classes the same. Take away the holy-trinity and every toon just becomes same old same old.

GW1 had WAY more RPG to it, way more Co-op and WAY more community.

GW1 had a ton of cookie cutter toons, you load a build from a template code and you were ready to go. GW2 has more flexiblity because any class can be any part of the (former) holy trinity. Guardians can be tanks, healers, or dps; Same with other classes, there are even new combinations people are coming up with. GW1 was more restricted IMO following the holy trinity model.

this is not true, gw1 had tons and tons of builds and synergies, if we are going to define it by the cookie cutter builds,
gw2 usually has a slight variation on 2 to 3 cookie cutters per proffesion with 8 proffesions, lets call that 24 cookie cutters heck lets say there are 5, that would still only give us 40.

In GW2 you basically choose which weapon you want to play, – and that’s pretty much the build. (Calling things “builds” in this game, actually kind of sickens me)
A GS on a warrior has 5 skills, you can’t change those, you build around them as best as you can. So a GS warrior will always work like a GS warrior…
In GW1, you were able to pick your skills… so potentially two warriors with a sword/shield would have completely different builds and would work in different manners. And that’s not even getting into having the ability to switch between secondary professions…
Sorry but the skill/build system in GW1 has way more depth than GW2.

And like phys also mentioned. The intent of having such an over-simplified system for GW2 was to make it easier to balance things – which, let’s be honest, they’re failing at (+ considering that noteworthy balance changes come at 6 month iterations… ).

Basically, GW2 as a successor lacks depth in very department (story, builds, even endgame) in comparison to it’s predecessor GW1.
Many GW1 fans, including myself, fell for the GuildWars title in the GuildWars 2. Hence the frustration for what could have been.

In reference to PvX Wiki: Of those 133 builds many of them would be deemed outdated or no longer in use due to the constant nerfs and buffs Anet had to do to skills to keep them balance. Rits, Dervishes, and more were all buffed and nerfed over the yeah. Assassian’s Shadow Form caused new enemies to be introduce into underworld after several nerfs failed to address player work arounds. Anet does not want history to repeat with GW2, at least not to the severity of GW1 skill imbalances.

Looking at GW2 skills and comparing them with GW1 is a wrong comparison imo. Its like apples to oranges. GW2 relies on traits to change those skills functionality and usage; Also, GW2 still has more skills than prophecies when you include in traits. Equpping a weapon does not make a build far from it. Also, the reference about synergy with other players is still possible in GW2 with CC and Combos. This post is all in my opinion.

I kind of liked solo’ing stuff in GW1. Something that’s hard/ineffective to do in GW2. Kind of allowed me to play whenever, for however long. With GW2 if I want to do a dungeon I have to find a group of people (hopefully competent enough), and then I can’t exactly ditch them half way through (some paths are too long, would feel bad considering how long it took to assemble a group) if I had to go do something else (life calls).

I miss that choice to be able to play with others or just do it yourself: open world is open to all, the whole MMO aspect but dungeons are not. I miss being able to run it myself (with or without a party) as I could in GW. I miss that choice.

You can solo dungeons, there are plenty of Twitch streams that have people Soloing Arah and more rather easily with practice.

its not rather easily, and its fairly time consuming, also, if you dont sell dungeon paths, its a general loss of money. I dont think you can really compare gw2 solo sub culture, with gw1 solo/small group accessibility

I still play GW1 and feel the same.

For any reason they did the exact opposite of their GW2 trailer video.
This one where they say they take everything good from GW1 and mix it with new awesome ideas.

What they actually did is they too everything cool from GW1 out of the game and mixed it with some new but not working ideas.

-Multiple skills to choose from
-Bring back death penalty
-Bring back Monster Necros who raise stuff from our bodys
-Take away reviving from everyone but Guardian and Necro
- Bring back Cantha and Elona

I feel equally attach to my GW1 and GW2 characters in terms of story.
I feel we have enough skills to keep the game balance, GW1 had a horrible time balancing skills. The skills range from fantastic, nice but don’t use, don’t use at all. In GW2, they’re trying to make all the skills useful.

Death Penalty? We have downed penalty, don’t want death penalty at all. I agree with Anet decision about Death Penalty, they felt it was further punishing a player for dying. In GW2, when we die we get broken armor and a downed penalty. To me that’s fine having Death Penalty (for those that don’t know, it reduces your health and the amount of times you can use skills [energy]), Downed Penalty, and Broken Armor is overkill. But to your credit, you’re the only person I met so far that wanted to have death penalty back XD.

Necros being able to make minions from bodies again..I’m totally fine with lol.
Reviving for only Guardian and Necro? No way, that’s going the Monk route we’ll get LF1Monk Only requests all over again. Sure we get that sometimes now but it wasn’t as bad as in GW1, where it was mandatory to have a healer in a dungeon or mission (imo).

Cantha and Elona, yes, I agree to bringing them back. If there are IRL issues with Cantha still and other cultures then do Elona first instead. The Pact already stated they were considering going after Kralkatorrik in the Crystal Desert so releasing Elona first would make sense (lore wise).

To give the idea of guild halls more functionality than just a meeting place

PROPOSAL FUNCTIONALITY

GvG airship battles with characters jumping accross to each other, Pirates of the carribean style, siege cannons blasting, mid flight battles through clouds, the epicness we all hoped for when we first saw airships in the trailer.

Upgrade and kit your Guild airship out with siege, repair crews, medical crews, pilots and the like to ready yourselves to set sail!

Take your guild on an airship journy through the mists to discover new undiscovered lands and dungeons! Explore the mysteries and dangers within as a guild group! Beware enemy guilds also discovering these pockets of reality!

Possibilities for expansion are pretty awesome.

Woot, why not have the best of both modes? A guild hall where your AirShip docks at! Guildies will board the ship and set off to special instance or open world Guild Missions. The Aetherblades probably have some airships we can “repossess” hehe.

1) Guild Halls (with airships??) and GvG (since GvG use to take place at Guild Halls)
2) Expanded Guild Missions (doesn’t have to be more types, just more location variety to areas of Tyria that have less people, like Timberline Falls).
3) I’ve been playing GW1 more lately due to less areas to explore in GW2’s Tyria. Somehow, I got the following idea from GW1 and combined it with GW2:
A guild npc in the home instance that will let players travel immediately to the Guild Hall. Guild Hall travel should still have a travel to guild hall button when pressing the G key but having an NPC that can take your entire party to the guild hall (in your home instance) would be appreciated

Meanwhile I just want to communicate with certainty that NPE was not implemented in order to increase monetization from the BLT. It was designed for brand new players to the game. And it is for that reason that we are working with you to understand how to better refine the system.

PLEASE FIX THE PERSONAL STORY

Why remove the “Greatest Fear” storyline?
Why mix up the order when it makes no sense?

Also, please change traits back to the way they were.

I’m fine with the traits, just not ok with the personal story order. I wonder if them releasing the personal story in chapters would make it easy for them to make the story repeatable. If so, that would be great to be able to do the personal story several times. What isn’t so great is the story being out of order.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
It would be great to only have the beginning of Personal Story told in chapters for the new players. But revert Personal Story to its previous iteration after the Battle of Claw Island, that would solve a lot of the out of order issues imo.

From my experience playing a new character:

4. Some world-building dialogue/heart quest options have been removed (the inquest no longer try to recruit you, no golem chess, you can’t feed bear cubs or play as a sylvan hound). What drew me to gw2 was its world, characters, visuals. These charming details help it stand out from the “kill 45 crawfish to proceed” competitors. Their absence is missed.

I hope the heart quest weren’t change that much! For the record, I dislike most heart quest but being able to play as a Sylvari hound was fun. Having the inquest try to recruit me was lore inspiring. Also, being able to feed the cows in queensdale was also appeasing as a new player. But in regards to the inquest and sylvari hound, if those two were removed please bring them back. Two years later, I still remember those experiences I had as a new player.

Salvage-O-matic has made my life a lot easier. But yeah It can get frustrating. Especially when your vault can’t carry any more stacks of those ascended mats and you have to keep deleting them. I would love to see ascended mats turned into currency or something just so we don’t have to worry about that jazz.

At least, Mawdrey II eats Bloodstone dust and turns it into items

Doesn’t target change prioritize on the player after the update? Don’t remember.
