I’ve lived with my girlfriend for nearly four years. I guess the novelty of real life lingerie has worn off.
I humbly request the resignation of your man-card now please, on behalf of all fans of slinky undergarments.
1: I believe so, yes.
2: not possible. character names are reserved globally. No one on Earth has the same name characters as you do, guaranteed.
we are in agreement. my charr has not changed underwear in half a year, and she wears heavy armor… >_<
I have an easy solution for it..
option to turn it off.
love this idea, please implement it.
1) Equip MedKit.
2) Run to a point.
3) Bandages everywhere.
4) Laugh madly even if enemy tosses you around like a ragdoll, when he realises he’s out of CC and you’re in full HP its already too late.
you forgot: 5) Proceed to prybar them in the face.
thanks for the replies.
I didn’t consider the healing skill recharge with the last trait there… good point.
conditions sounds like fun. think it’ll tweak a little bit and see what works. I much prefer the pistols over the shortbow, unless I’m fighting dredge >_<
Currently I can’t see reason to play PVE or PVP? Am I missing something?
Thank you.
Video Game. If you can’t answer that question I’m afraid you have already answered your own question. We hope you enjoy your stay and take home some memories of a good journey.
no. it’s just an arbitrary number anyway.
two handed focus… hmm…
ele: PBAoE damage / buff / debuff options
necro: ranged buff / regen / flying minion
mesmer: ranged ray attacks / crowd control KD/KB skills
guardian: long range single target attacks and ground-target buff/debuff
thief: teleports / long range AoE stealth / buff/debuff
something like that?
I have a thief in the early 30s, and I am enjoying it a lot, but I don’t feel I’m getting the most out of this class that I can. I realize that at lower levels its tough to judge how effective I will be without great armor and all the traits. I do alright against small groups, but when doing dungeons or large scale events I feel kind of useless. I’m used to playing healing / tanking roles and I’d like to branch out and try something a little different. This is for PvE.
the build I am going for is here:

I’m looking for advice! What would you change? Does it make sense? Am I totally off the mark for something that will be fun to play?
some sage-like advice for you that I wish I would have had:
1: stop and smell the lore. there are a lot of little things to explore out there that the game never bothers to show you.
2: go into structured PvP when you make a new class to check out all the skills and traits right away. get a feel for each profession before you level it too high and decide you don’t like it.
3: Skip Ascalon Catacombs as your first dungeon (although, it is much, MUCH easier than it was)
>_<
Rule #1 don’t pug.…that’s it.
How the hell are you supposed to get a group when you don’t have 4 people you know to go with you then?
And yes, I’m in a pretty active guild, but it still doesn’t mean there will always be people willing to go into a dungeon with me when I actually have the time to do so, or that there will be people to run a particular dungeon that isn’t CoF path 1 or 2.
Enlighten me.
wtb sarcasm filter
I’d say 226, just so people who could have gotten one today would have to wait another day.
honestly, IF they were laurel items they’d probably cost around 500 each, and they would be different
you would purchase the precursor or the weapon, you’d purchase a special consumable to turn any one weapon into a legendary type with special effects.
excellent, well thought out idea. love it. +1
Im not sure if there is a set time on it, TBH.
when farming in this game, the general rule of thumb has become “keep moving” Don’t stay in one area for far too long. Do every task once, then move on. Worry not, there are no T-rexes in Tyria. You don’t have to stand still.
yay, this thread again!
Hit “H”
Double click.
Can only be done out of combat anyway.
if its an offhand that can be used in your main hand, you right click then left click. same clicks either way.
I understand the desire for a “cool weapon swap” for eles and engis (I have an engineer), but its simply not needed. Why add something to the game for something you can already do, and very simply?
so… any word on that staff no one has found yet?
wow. don’t play ele or engineer, you’ll never unlock weapon swapping!
its a game! if you find it boring, go play something else.
our guild hosts “jump puzzle races” to kill the time.
no skills or speed boosts allowed, no traits to boost speed allowed. Just straight up running and jumping. its a lot of fun.
usually prizes for the first few finishers. spectral wall serves as a great finish line
You’re right that we do have a lot of currencies. We certainly know we could improve the experience here
Simply move all currencies (WvW Badges, Dungeon Tokens, Fractal Tokens) to to bottom of your inventory just like money, laurels and karma and stack via account not characters and we are good to go. This should have been in from the start.
This exactly. This. Please. Unless there are plans for said tokens to be traded, sold or otherwise used, there is no reason for them to be in inventory space.
from what I can tell the duration stacks, but not the intensity of each player’s stacks.
I set poison for 5 seconds, I have + cond damage. (= 10 dmg per sec)
2 second pass
You set poison for 5 seconds, you have no cond damage buffs. (= 5 dmg per sec)
it should look like this:
Second 1: 10 damage
Second 2: 10 damage
Second 3: 15 damage
Second 4: 15 damage
Second 5: 15 damage
Second 6: 5 damage
Second 7: 5 damage
OR, your duration is stacked on mine, and they are played out in order entirely, meaning:
Second 1: 10 damage
Second 2: 10 damage
Second 3: 10 damage
Second 4: 10 damage
Second 5: 10 damage
Second 6: 5 damage
Second 7: 5 damage
Second 8: 5 damage
Second 9: 5 damage
Second 10: 5 damage
you get the same total damage either way but, its interesting to see how they interact. does anyone know which it is?
challenge accepted:

with 10 more trait points, I can push Radiance to 15, which would allow me to, on each individual mob death:
spread AoE Might to all allies
spread extended burning to all enemies (through allies’ next attacks)
heal myself per stack of might, per ally
and still keep all my utilities and healing skill on stand by to remove conditions (and heal myself)
without the might/burning spam the build works just fine, but with that, it means that as long as things are getting killed everyone will have max might, the guardian will always have full health, the enemies will all always be on fire, there will be few if any conditions on the party, and everyone will have almost every boon. all the time.
without those 10 extra points Id be forced to choose on or the other.
(edit: I didnt include these in the actual build, but signet for heal and all shouts otherwise. figure it’s sort of assumed with the traits, and since we’re focusing on traits, thats what I built)

thats funny. I still think that people active on the forums are still a minority of players. Ive run into people in game that didnt even know where was an official forum..
a mesmer using sig of inspiration with a staff guardian on their team is a team player.
Im not too familiar with others, but know that signets have their uses. they just arent popular because they are seen as “lazy” or they truly aren’t as effective. its not as cut and dry as you initially put it, hence our “yelling at you” or whatever you want to call it.
gratz on hitting 80 OP. hope you enjoyed the ride. feel free to hang around the parkground and check out some of our smaller attractions, or perhaps try one of our other rides as a different person? be sure to also visit our gift shop on your way out and see our collectibles!
so… I’ve never seen the point to this argument. to me an MMO is just like a rollercoaster at a theme park. You have a lot of ups and downs in a thrill ride going from start to end, and you have a great time. Everything else feels tame in comparison once finishing the big ride. What I usually do is just do the ride again, or leave the theme park. Where’s the confusion here?
ahh, I remember the flame shaman in PoA during beta. holy cow that guy was tough then.
in all honesty, isn’t it a little early for one of these? it still feels like the game has barely really arrived…
25 stacks of bleeding.
this is true for anything that stacks (confusion, might, vuln, etc…)
everything else just stacks in duration. the condition is either ON or OFF.
>_<
nothing wrong with signets. don’t use just signets.
I know this isnt a good ruleset, but from my own experience there are different rules:
Rule #1 don’t pug.
…that’s it.
whats wrong with a free 2-week trial to see if you’re interested?
lmao, this thread!
I think all bushes are suspicious by their very nature, don’t you? I know I cant see one irl without wanting to poke at it with something.
on a related note, I want to harvest every small, skinny tree I see now…
OoW: Summon an Apple Cart illusion that takes your place in battle. you gain stability and immunity, but can take no actions until someone tries to buy an apple or offers you a drink.
Priory: Unleash an energy wave that pulses every second for 10 seconds. it does little damage, provides random boons and buffs, but it looks really showy and it will force enemies to talk about how cool it looked until the end of combat.
Vigil: Shout to affect all allies with 3 random boons (but its always just might, fury and swiftness) You can no longer move, but all enemies will now be forced to rush you right away.
are you blind? there’s different colors everywhere >_< look around!
guardians certainly have a good base for self rally with downed skill #3. And it’s aoe to boot, so if someone else happens to go down next to you, they should thank you.
guardians have traits to take less damage while downed, do more damage while downed, and so on. also traits to reflect attacks or provide res-er and res-ee boons during revival. They make excellent mistake correctors if they are paying attention to the battlefield.
I believe necros also have similar trait lines. Their AoE regen certainly doesn’t hurt, and their skill 1 while downed drains life. a skilled necro can properly time all their downed skills to keep an enemy on their toes for an extended time.
Warriors of course have an insta-res button on their downed bar, making it cute to finish off a fight. when traited, as long as they finish their target off they will no go back down, 100% chance. Easily the best way to self res yourself when not facing a world event boss or something that’s more than 30 seconds from defeat.
I’m not too familiar with the other professions downed mechanics yet.
all of the above specced with more healing and toughness will only prolong your survival while downed. whether you need that much attention just for a “once in a while” event is up for debate.
look up to find out. you can never tell just looking at the ground >_<
in my experience ghastly weapon effects appear when you draw them.
I love this idea. sadly, I bet we won’t ever see it happen.
how about this: for every piece of armor you don’t wear, you can spend more trait points? (not effected by accessories or underwater breather)
oh, and gold dots on maps for guildies not currently in your party. option to turn off, of course. larger guilds, would be very cluttered. >_<
i have one to add that’s a minor point of frustration…
when you go to the gold exchange and enter in how much gold for gems you want, you can scroll with the mouse wheel to increase or decrease the amounts.
Let me do this on my bank tab or in guild storage. Having to switch between windows repeatedly is not a huge annoyance, but things would be easier if I could simply scroll to deposit or withdraw from the storage areas.
I use a full set of these.
The healing is a nice stack if you enjoy seeing larger green numbers.
Boon duration is always nice on a guardian.
But to be honest I haven’t really noticed the might and fury buffs. I rarely if ever actually use my healing skill because of how I’m traited. IIRC its 10 seconds, but don’t quote me on that.
Id love that option as well, but for now we have PrtScn
Wouldn’t the sharing of dungeon tokens open up more options for gold sellers to make money off of? “$20 for 2000 dungeon tokens, real cheap!” Or something along those lines.
Not if you can’t associate a price with them or sell them on the trading post.
Who would pay for something that can be given away for free?
I want to just give them away. I agree other uses wouldn’t work.
I don’t see what the problem is with Fractals… its a classic arcade style game in a modern MMO. It ’s random and keeps getting harder and harder until you die. Just like real life.
Rewards should take a while to earn.
You could use the tokens for legendary weapon materials
that’s not the point. I could also get any old reward and salvage it or transmute it to another character.
I have items I do not have a use for, that I can do nothing with because of account locking. Give me the option to benefit another player instead of just destroying content. This isn’t limited to just dungeon tokens.
all great ideas, save the in person trading. we have the TP, we have mail system.
had an instance where an asura friend bugged out and I could walk underneath him on my charr. was halarious. might have a screen somewhere…
>_<
this doesn’t have anything to do with WvW.
Its for PvE. A place for servers to have to discuss what’s going on on their server. (ie, upcoming server wide access Guild Missions in an open world)
For example: we have a guild member who’s wife does hardcore WvW on another server. He resides on her server as well, but he spends most his in game time guesting on our server. If there were a single server you could see on the forum, he wouldn’t see the one he needed.
I think servers should have homes on the official forum is all.
I want to see:
More dynamic events related to this new melting ice cream story line.
More numerous and more specific options for daily achievements. (If there ever is one that reads “kill this many grawl” I will be doing that one every day. I hate grawl, they killed my grandmother)
WvW fixed to the point where I feel like I can tell what’s going on with my just-above-minimum-reqs video card.
it’s true tho. finishing the personal story will get rid of it. there’s no way to hide it otherwise.
Finish the daily, it goes away. finish the monthly? it’s gone too.
I will enjoy playing the rest of the month each day after I’m done with my daily. The screen will be less cluttered for a couple weeks.
this was in gw1 but was changed to only work in explorable instances due to exploiting (gambling) in communal outposts.
as long as it’s used properly I don’t see a reason not to.
Are you saying GW1 was a crap game?
ICWDT =)
