there’s a report feature in the game for a reason.
use it.
also, the 8th wonder of the world: the ignore feature.
…or the listings aren’t there because the requests get filled so quickly due to the number of people willing to do the other “less popular” dungeons.
Members of our guild regularly to runs of TA, and anytime we have to use LFG, we get pick ups in a matter of seconds. At times you barely have time to alt-tab back to the game.
A lot of this is just perception, and therefore isn’t really a fixable problem. I never go to CoF. It’s contested half the time. Give me a dungeon that’s just as easy and is less populated (HotW) anyday.
Pretty simple idea. I have over a hundred Transmutation Stones. I have 4 Transmutation Crystals. I need 2 more to transmute my exotic crafted armor (which I do not like the look of) to a different crafted set (which I do).
The gem store only sells crystals in bunches. I’d end up with extra, and presumably fall into a loop of not quite enough to too many.
Now, I don’t mind saving up gold and just purchasing the gems. I don’t mind just throwing a few bucks at the game. This is not what this is about.
I would like another option to get the crystals, that is still representative of the time and effort put into the game.
How about a mystic forge recipe that converts stacks of stones into a small number of crystals? How many stones should it take per crystal? do you need other components, like mystic forge stones or obsidian shards? It would make sense for everything involved to be account bound given the nature of the result, yes?
Thoughts? Who else would take advantage of this?
as a main guardian, I’d like to put my input on this.
I’ve never felt the guardian wasn’t mobile. I’ve rarely encountered a situation where I said “man I wish this enemy was crippled”
with just GS alone and 1 utility slot for a teleport-to-enemy skill, you have 3 closers. skill 2 to leap to, skill 5 to pull toward, and a utility to insta-melee. It’s all about the order you use the skills.
then there are alternative forms of crowd control, less direct than cripple or gap closers. staff 5, hammer 5, and other similar skills all produce the same end result: keeping your enemy where you want them.
while I do agree that Zeal could use some work, I find that traiting into raw power on a guardian just isn’t as effective as other classes. dump some extra into Radiance, and go full vitality. Don’t even use the grandmaster traits: all symbol effects. GS still does tons of damage and you don’t sacrifice party support.
CC has never been an issue with me. It’s boon removal or condition damage that is severely lacking on a guardian. You can CC all you like, but if they have stability, you kind of just have to outlast for a while.
Thanks for the reply.
As far as traits go, looking at the options I’m not sure which staff CD trait you are referring to.
For Inspiration I’m assuming you are using increased illusion health and warden’s feedback when you trait to 20 in that line, right?
In chaos the extra toughness trait with the staff is a no-brainer, but what else are you using? I don’t see the grandmaster trait options really viable here, since you aren’t cloaking or regularly interrupting.
Do you use the desperate decoy in the Dueling trait line? I don’t see the extra criticals as useful overall with a power increase instead. If you go 10 into Domination you can get the signet recharge reduction trait, which seems like it’d go well with boon copying in this set up. That way you can throw the extra 5 into Inspiration and have your long lasting phantasms doing more damage.
Thoughts?
Also: How are you getting your boon duration so high?

I’m a main Guardian, retaliation and symbol healing, and I run FOTM often. It’s been a nice relationship. I enjoy supporting my team and converting damage.
I started Mesmer and was blown away by the potential. Healtanking can get boring, and Mesmers are anything but a fire and forget. What a blast.
Having a hard time finding a good FOTM or dungeon build for my mesmer. I leveled up with a power crit build using GS and dual swords. The higher levels I’ve been using staff and scepter / focus. I’ve dabbled a little bit in the traits, but it’s all just a little confusing (no pun intended).
Whats your experience with Mesmer builds that have served you well, specifically in PvE dungeon or fractals content? Do you go all out beserker and rely on dodge mechanics? Do you tank and vit up and try to outlast? What works the most reliably? Any help would be appreciated!
Depends on where you are, really. If you are alone, you probably dont need it.
If you are in a dungeon group or large scale event, use it as often as possible.
10 stacks of might to everyone really helps dish out damage. You will lower your own DPS for a few seconds (3 or 4, now, I think), but everyone else’s DPS increase will more than make up for it.
If you are traited into AH, you wont need your healing skill any more.
whenever I see someone else chop down a tree they use a mining pick.
if they have this new one, will the tree be on fire too? >_<
was likely a problem with the recent leaderboard update, which just happened. I can log into both, but my wife in the same room cannot. its behaving strangley
they just updated the leaderboards. I couldnt log into the forum either, but now I can log into both just fine.
they just updated the leader boards. bet someone forgot a setting and it kicked some people off.
my wife lost connection and could not get back on while I was still in game, same router. Odd.
also, they are supposed to be doing server maintenance tonight, as well.
I’m pretty basic, I think. 12345 are unchanged. WASDQE are also unchanged. what I did do to change stuff…

[EDIT]: I use regular ground targeting, because it all depends on the profession and skill. when I’m on my engineer, I turn on fast cast ground targeting to follow the mouse. Otherwise its normal.

actually, considering the usefulness of the ranger profession in it’s current state, Faux Pas fits. >_<
I prefer the idea that was mentioned in a previous thread, where every tick, the disease and any remaining ticks minus 1 is spread “Nearby”, and so on, and so on, until everyone ends up with 1 tick on the outside. The ticks do not recognize friend or foe.
The only trouble is, having one class be the only way to give it. Holy unbalanced.
True, not every profession can deal out every condition or boon, but none of them are completely exclusive.
Also: Whatever we get access to, the enemies do too. That doesn’t work in reverse.
To OP:
they do. they are called testers. there are dozens of them. they do this 8 hours a day with breaks.
devs do play the game. on off hours even. its crazy. it’s like, a company of people that like MMOs and want to play in their own world, and share it with everyone, without monthly fees like the games they didn’t like.
you could almost say, they are….gamers!
I like this. The should name it “Space Cadet”, because you jump a lot, and that’s the space bar! haha! get it?
most of the answers here are correct.
in my own experience thief and mesmer are the best. I havent played ranger or ele above lvl 15 (didn’t enjoy them myself)
just about every class can be mobile, but from what you are describing, I do have one piece of advice.
do NOT roll a guardian if you want to be mobile!
I’ve never had trouble with this in the game, but I also don’t want a legendary.
I salvage almost everything and I don’t craft anything unless it’s part of the daily. Anytime I need money for something expensive I just sell off my more expensive materials on the Trading Post. I got my first rare set of order armor this way (8g88s), and my first set of exotic armor this way as well (3.5 to 4g per piece, x6, before runes)
If you are really hurting and just impatient, or dont have the time to play, set aside like, 20 bucks and convert the gems.
This hasn’t happened to me yet. True, I was in Betas and Headstart access, but I’ve never run into this problem in any mmo with a name reign on it.
I almost always throw a small, little accent word between two name words. zu, tal, tek, bal, etc… 2 or 3 letter words with no more than one vowel. its trope’d high fantasy naming at its most common, but it will get you playing the game.
Problem solved for me: Wife plays when I do.
no one has, because there would be little point in charting a completely random occurrence. Ecto drops are RNG, and that means luck.
Typically I salvage everything green or under, golds I sell on TP unless its high level (76+) and then master salvage for ecto / upgrades. Anything exotic, if I cannot use it, gets sold on the TP if the price is higher than ecto. Any named exotic never gets salvaged. Its either sold on TP at top dollar or soulbound.
My materials storage is full and I have no shortage of coin. Been working quite well for me.
if you explore every starter city and LA and map complete each single lvl 1 to whatever map outside of these zones, you will be just above level 20. more if you gather and focus on events as you come by them.
If you are staying in your area for role playing or personal reasons (which makes sense), you will be a little underleveled for your personal story. Some races makes it easier than others. Norn or Charr, for example, have their own flavored zones all the way up to 80. The other races have to share maps.
I like it when hostile mobs get hungry and assault the local ambient wildlife. Just yesterday I saw two wolves stalk and pounce on a rabbit. Then I slew the wolves and avenged the bunny, cause cats don’t like dogs, and we have to look out for our furry friends.
Been playing since BWE1. Haven’t seen one yet.
Got a midnight fire on my first week.
Got a black a few months ago.
I spend almost all my laurels on dyes and have not seen an Abyss or Celestial yet.
they made it so people stop complaining about how difficult is to get laurel and instead start to complain now how easy are to get.
I look forward to when we can complain that there are too many ways to get them too!
invite them into your guild.
they can represent while you attempt guild missions. everyone benefits.
I hope they introduce Alliance features, but this likely won’t happen until they provide guild halls and GvG.

As a guardian, I can say that Toughness is way more important for me. I boost vitality in my traits, but not on equipment at all. Damage reduction goes a long way overall and yes conditions hurt my health pool, but I have so many ways to remove them it’s a moot point.
As a theif? Toughness is next to useless. More health, more healing, more vitality. The more the better. I’d lower my toughness to sub par levels to get more vitality.
The game is slowly and gently heading in a good direction and taking it’s sweet time. You haven’t missed out on any Flame and Frost content yet.
If you leave for 3 more months the return will be all the sweeter, but still not a huge list of major overhauls.
I’d like this too, simply for organization. I really don’t change my weapons enough for it to be a hassle, and clicking and dragging isn’t that tough.
Would be nice to see at least separate sections for “armors, weapons, upgrades”

you can download many free ones.

I’d be all for this if it were a cash shop item.
NEW: Asura Transmogrifying Timebender Daily Augmentation Extender. One time use for an extra 30 minutes of time to accomplish daily tasks.
Cost: 150 gems
0.0000000025% chance drop from BLK chests.
I’d like another heavy class option, but it needs its own flavor apart from other classes. Look at it this way:
Guardians: burning / boon management
Warriors: might/fury / conditions and damage
I’d like to see: chill + fear / position management (controlling enemy locations with traps, pulls and pushes)
if you could teleport to work, the store, the bar, out to eat, visit family around the country, anytime you wanted, for less than the cost of a gallon of gas per use, would you honestly still use a car for anything, ever?
Shout based Guardian with all 4 shouts :Q__
That’s the first place I went. “Holy” overpowerd! haha!
if it’s an exploit, yes.
otherwise, no. you farmers can do what you want. I’ve never done that path so I’m not familiar with it, but if you have fun doing it without taking advantage, so be it. Sometimes I like to stand in one place and stare at a wall for a while. Does no harm.
Yeah…I don’t think I’d call this a stealth nerf. This is a stealth fix. if they said at all on the patch notes “made improvements to dungeons”, this qualifies and stating it.
Keep in mind, you paid for this game, but there’s no monthly fee. They don’t have to tell us anything about what they do to the game. They also don’t have to read our thoughts and arguments on the forum and even chime in to talk to us directly. They also don’t have to read their personal message folder, but they do.
I think this team is doing great work with the community of players. One exploit closed and they didn’t tell anyone about it? Was it really that much of a surprise? Cmon..
>_<
MUST HAS OMG
I’m also a former CoH player.
Roll up an Ele. Humans will feel the most familiar. Try it to level 15 or so. You’ll know if you like it by then or not, and that’s not a huge time investment.
Every class can be used as a “blaster” type (high damage, low health, low armor) It’s much more in the playstle of each profession. They are all very different.
In my experience, I get the most blaster feeling off my mesmer going all power and precision. Plus you can teleport.
I’m using Fog for my white, because I am also cheap. I also got lucky with a Black drop a while back (my dye luck is crazy).
Check out the following link for color-code accurate representations of all the colors in the game.
http://www.dragonsworn.net/dyes/
The main difference between Celestial and White is the material. Celestial is Metallic. White is Leather. This will affect how it reflects light off different materials.
Hope this helps!
whats the point in running fractals after you got your rings + backpeice + infused? I think it only took lvl 30 (running 26/10 dailies aswell) to get to that point. I was about fed up with fractals at lvl 10 for christ sakes.
What’s the point of playing Tetris if you know it will never stop or end until you die, with no end in sight? Same can be said for PacMan, or any number of other classic arcade games.
This is what Fractals is.
oh boy.
yeah, it looks different. I like the in game world shot better, actually.
it will match when you are in a well-lit area. not at night under a mountain.
reduce your graphics settings and turn of shadows.
the quickness nerf is obvious everyone.
they only increased the duration on skills that also came with a penalty.
any other method of quickness was simply nerfed. its a “win” button. this is a good thing.
the markets being global makes sense. why would segregating them make any sense except for your “1 minute too long” load time.
stop standing in LA and playing the trading post all day long and do some gaming instead.
re: names
they are globally reserved. one name per planet, regardless of server. if you are named mr hot potato, you are the only one in the world.
this makes it much tougher to get the names you want.
as far as playstyles and professions go, here’s my experience:
guardian feels tanky, supportive, and kind of boring at times, but fun overall.
mesmer is really exciting to play, even if the appeal isn’t there. I had no interest in the class at all and after 30 levels Im considering naming it my new main.
necromancer is a good challenge with a balance of everything. you can do it all, but none of it’s spoon fed to you.
warriors are easy to play fire and forget style in every build ive tried so far.
engineers are clunky and tricky, but have been getting a lot of fixes recently. hope you enjoy targeting the map more than enemies.

Uncheck “Show All Player Names”
while I like the idea of community and players helping each other out, you should not place a limit on this kind of thing. Bad idea IMO.
I have a secondary guild of my own, with only me in it, for storage reasons only. I only represent it when I’m accessing my separate storage. If this gets dissolved I lose all my stuff. They should make bank access cheaper imo, but whatever, thats up to them.
Smaller guilds are great. Don’t force them to join huge mobs of guilds with no community feeling whatsoever.
The larger the guild, I find, the less helpful everyone is as a whole.
