Hello, quick poll for a gaming thing, guess you could consider it journalism. Anyways respond however you feel, don’t turn this into a flame war. Thanks.
1. Which class do you consider to be the “most overpowered”?
2. Which class do you consider to be the “most underpowered”?
3. Which aspect of the game do you think needs the most work done? (sPvP, PvE dungeons, PvE open world, WvW)
4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being good and 1 being bad, how would you rate the in game economy?
5. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being a lot and 1 being very few, how would you rate the amount of bugs/glitches in the current build of the game?
6. Which aspect of the game do you want to do more, but have no reason to currently do so? (sPvP, PvE dungeons, PvE open world, WvW)
7. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being great and 1 being the worst, how would you rate the community interaction between players? (things such as parties, dungeons, etc)
Thank you for your time
1: someone skilled
2: someone who thinks the game is something else
3: WvW, by far.
4: Economy = 4. easy enough to use, and easily one of my favorite features of the game, but broken from a casual stand point.
5: Bugs = 3. Theres a few here and there but nothing too game breaking, and they are fixing them regularly. Monthly updates is amazing for a game of this scale.
6: WvW, see question 3.
7: Community = 8. Never had a problem finding a group or helping or getting help from anyone, organized or not. Almost no negative experiences whatsoever. (Fort Aspenwood)
casual player here. I really don’t care about the ascended tier of equipment. Im still using Rare armor and Masterwork accessories, with mostly Exotic weapons. I haven’t noticed my game play experience suffering for it in the slightest. I don’t plan on doing Fractals into Agony, and I haven’t met a dungeon path I can’t do yet.
people crying about stuff they don’t need is silly. if you WANT it, set a goal and go for it. don’t blame the system for your schedule.
If you’ve never used it, what are you basing your comparison from? Finishing a dungeon =/= no need for better equipments. I don’t understand how your personal experience trivializes the legitimacy of the complaints here.
what does everyone need the extra stat boosts for? why are ascended items so important? anyone can play the game without them. we did for months.. I fail to see why this is such an issue with everyone.

it remembers all those pop-ups. they are in the “Hints” section. There’s a button for it on the top menu there.
they won’t appear for her when she needs them, but she can read them all there for reference.
the darker orange color notification that appears:
so and so faction is doing this against so and so place
this area is quiet
this thing has been sighted recently
those are group events.
hope this helps.
I see a solution for smaller guilds until this is addressed from Anet. smaller guilds should all ban together to increase each other’s log in counts for the day. strength in numbers, and all that. just takes a few moments, and you can belong to multiple guilds.
Im in a small-ish guild too. we normally have 8-15 people on in peak hours out of 40, and our influence has been hovering around 14-17K for months after we unlocked all our upgrades. I’m sure it will take us a while to unlock all the nice new features, but maybe it will increase activity in the guild.
Give me your account for a day. I will gladly take your money and craft a new toon for you to level 80. It takes about an hour per crafting discipline. Cooking takes 3 for additional resource gathering. I charge 20 bucks an hour.
lmao this post. play the game man. if you just want max level, go to PvP. if you want it in PvE, play the game, hurr durr!
Sounds great! Other than that is against the terms of service!
Anet has done a good job, I think, of eliminating most of the reasons to go to gold farmers / character levelers. This should just be another way.
BTW I do sPvP all the time. I have one level 80 and 7 level 2s. See Anet, I love giving you my money for things like character slots!
Running a level 10 in WvW is just not an option- or at least, not a good one.
I am playing the game, almost daily, for a few precious hours. I just want to be able to give more money to Anet to play the aspects of their game I want to play.
Yeah, I’m aware of the terms of service. I would not do this for you regardless. I have my own account. Sarcasm abound!
The journey is part of the experience man. Why pay to skip over half the fun?

Reduced the number of maximum of stacks of Retaliation allowed to five (was 25). Duration still stacks.
What’s that even mean?
means you have to be careful about which skills or combos you use to stack retaliation. You cannot endlessly combo retaliation to last minutes any more. (which is good, that means bosses cannot either)
skill a applies 10 secs of retaliation
skill b applies 3 secs
combo hit and you get 12 stacks of 4 second each.
you end up with a LOT of retaliation time, which is OP.
with a 5 stack limit, the amount of time the boon can be up is effectively capped. if you have 5 stacks of short durations it wont last as long as if you have 5 stacks of longer durations.
I’m thinking of building a scepter/torch crit guardian and would like to have a sigil of fire for the flame blast AOE. Will the sigil of fire trigger for the scepter or torch if I equip it on my second weapon set, or would I have to insert it into the weapon set I want it to trigger with?
Thanks.
re: crit guardian, you are a brace man.
no, it will only trigger on the weapon set currently in use. main or off hand does not matter. it just has to be out.
yes, its possible. I have done this twice on my warrior with a full set of armor already.
wait as long as you can to conserve your transmutation stones. If you need more in a hurry and you have a character slot open, start a new character and explore 2 or 3 home cities. there’s enough trans stones for all armor pieces and it takes under an hour.
your numbers are sound if doing events are the only way you are getting influence.
you can also convert coin into influence, and gems into coin, and therefore real money into guild influence, anytime you want.
it’s not pay to win, its pay to be lazy.
1: yes, I am in such a guild. we have a site: http://thegothicembrace.com/ and we also have a facebook group. we’re on Fort Aspenwood. We PvE mostly, dungeon and end-game focus, with some hardcore WvW members. we have a private chat server. check us out. (end shameless plug)
2: all classes are useful, but just don’t ask anyone playing that class. Everyone has their place. GW2 doesn’t have a holy trinity, so everyone is more accountable for their own actions. based on your experience you will be fine regardless of your choice. When is a tough dungeon, a Guardian is an always welcome addition to a group, and they are fun to play too.
3: I’d go High Population, but its not much of an issue in the end. guesting is free, and you can play with anyone on another server if you stay out of WvW (thats for your home server only) FA has a good community and strong support. the official forums are here: http://www.fort-aspenwood.com/
and finally, welcome to the game! we hope you enjoy your stay!
I like the idea, but Id rather see more weapons.
adding abilities to existing weapons and allowing people to change them will severely effect how some traits work. Thats a lot of rebalancing.
introducing new weapons types simply augment existing traits with extra inclusions for alike-weapons. (greatsword and harpoon damage increase now also effects halbred) things like that.
they way the system is set up, it just makes sense that this would be the route they went IF they expand non utility skills for anyone.
this thread should also be called “People stuck at work who really want to play”
amirite?
elite kurzick necromancer female
-While entering fractals , you could choose the facets you want
I would pay for this feature, even if it were just optional. If I have to fight those dredge again I’m going to puke.
Good post. Most people just don’t the the flavor of a “living world”. It’s supposed to have a little chaos.
12345 are normal.
6 is mouse thumb side
7 is mouse thumb lower
8 is mouse thumb upper
9 is mouse wheel scroll left (usually my ‘Im in trouble’ utility)
0 is mouse wheel scroll right
weapon swap is bottom mouse button (app switcher by default)
z is “toggle walk”
shift is “dodge”
v is “stow / draw weapons”
c is “target nearest”
x is “swim down”
using a logitech mouse, nothing too fancy.
This has been suggested a lot of times.
They can do just fine swapping weapons out of combat through their inventory. As it stands now, Elementalists have 20 weapon skills in combat, which any other profession has to exit combat and swap both of their weapon sets through their inventory to match.
Yes. OUT of combat swapping is being requested. How many weapon skills they have IN combat is irrelevant to the topic.
To swap now out of combat the ele/engie must
1) stop moving
2) open inventory
3) look for the weapon(s) wanted
4) put new weapon in place and put the old weapon in a spot where it won’t accidently get sold because its mixed in with weapons picked up as a drop.
5) close inventoryNot only does this take time, but it’s not particularly a good thing to be standing still in a PvP area with the inventory covering your screen while you dig around in it. An out of combat weapon swap is badly needed for the them.
those 5 steps are very complicated. As an engineer here’s how I do it.
hit H (or I)
double click (or right click then left click)
hit Esc. (or click the X at the top)
either way, same number of button presses.
its really not a bother at all, IMO. And yes, this has been suggested many times. People who don’t know how to use the interface or manage their inventory want a lot of easy options and make it out to sound a lot harder than it is.
It’s pointless to debate about skill numbers and usage. Eles have 20 skills by default once all elemental attunements are unlocked. Engineers have access to up to 3 or 4 other 5-skill weapon sets on almost no recharge, depending on skills equipped.
it’s not needed. period. stop being lazy.
regen never stacks that way anyway, its only duration. its passive healing over time.
you can’t ever have “5 stacks of regen” the same way bleeding works..
seems to work fine for me. 0.125 health power x 130 (at 80th) doesn’t increase that much, but every little bit helps over time.
Regen counters pressure. nothing wrong with it.
things that would make the home instance better:
travel to and from is free from anywhere, or a simple flat rate not based on distance.
contains trading post, bank, guild storage, merchants, armor / weapon vendors and various karma merchants.
vendors in the area that represent your advancement in your respective crafting discipline, race, profession, story choices and so on.
rename them Guild Halls.
this should be required reading for those coming from WoW. I’m sorry, but there are so many players out there with this “play a role” mindset that its easy to forget what this game is really about.
6 for me. only one at 80. I am a much more casual player.
Guardian was a blast, warrior and necro have been fun so far, and Im really enjoying the engineer and mesmer. Ele and ranger hold no appeal to me at all.
I had the most fun on the Guardian so far. Very rewarding experience thus far.
this is awesome. finally something for PvE stats. nice find!
I do not see them adding the other 4 classic classes from GW1. Paragon went to Guardian. Assassin went to Thief. Dervish also kind of went to Guardian and Human skills. Ritualist got lumped into Necromancer….kind of. If anything that one has the best shot.
I seriously doubt we will ever see new professions.
New weapons and utility skills, however, now that’s easy to do. And more Elites, for sure. I think we’d see a new race before we saw a new profession..
wow. I haven’t even done all the dungeons and paths yet. take your time mate!
I’d love a hard mode option too, as long as it’s not just “MORE HEALTH” or “MORE TOUGHNESS”. Has to be done right..
bring back Prince Rurik!
you can already solo some of the dungeons. bring a warrior in to AC or for a bigger challenge, do Arah solo on a guardian. it’s possible, and it takes forever, but it is possible.
I think what you are going for is solo player content that is challenging but not super difficult, am i right?
this sounds like an awesome idea, and I’d love to see it.
when doing this on my engi, I’ve found enabling the option for “fast cast ground targets skills” helps… a little. you have to pay attention to your mouse, normally at the cost of your camera, but it speeds things up a bit. nothing will feel better than underwater tho.
Ahoy the mates.
This post is not meant to be a flame or whatever.
Its only a small feedback.
I like it that Arena.net trying to find ther own mmorpg way and make something unique. But I realy miss the classic healer and tank class in this game.
I am playing anyways to 95%+ only in the WvW, but that ther arnt any realy tank (taunt) or healer class in this game is the main resson why I dont go on dungeon runs or PvE raids.just my 2 cents
(sorry about my bad english)
roll a guardian. enjoy life.
I play both, have a guardian at 80 and a warrior in the 50s somewhere.
guardian: feels like a more active support role.
warrior: feels like more damage and offensive focused.
doing support on a warrior is effective, but it feels more passive.
doing offense on a guardian is also effective, but it feels less powerful.
they are both fun, but few things are as entertaining as a quickened hundred-blades
love the idea, simple, and no negatives. +1 for sure.
now…about having more town clothes options in game, and the ability to craft our own….
…and while I can just use the bank to transfer more of it…
you answered your own question with this.
Gold is easy, and karma is even movable between characters in the form of containers. The only thing that sticks is the XP. Finish the daily on the character you want the bar of xp for. Simple.
I like the idea, but it does feel a little “mesmerish” to me.
How about, instead of living physical things that manifest and last for a short while, you have each attack draw from a different being, that only comes into existence for the skill animation? For more powerful, tier 3 utilities and an elite, you get a permanent pet with numerous abilities, or a form elite that replaces you in combat with the summoned creature (ala FFX or similar instances..)
Wand would be ranged attacks similar to necro axe, applying a number of conditions and utility with more raw damage. Maybe an actual charged skill with greater effect the longer you prepare it (and the stronger, perhaps more opaque the summon results)
Focus would compliment with tougher defensive abilities, like a reflect projectiles ability and a ground targeted buff/debuff.
Dagger for this I see as a melee option, but with less of a focus on damage and more condition stacking. Mostly AoE and dodge mechanics.
Other weapons, not sure what I’d see here.
Utilities could include Summons (which produce a short lived offensive ally that floats around a fixed position near you at all times, does damage and each provides a different boon or condition); Bundles (like signets, but while holding them you gain passive benefits and replace your skill bar, or perhaps just your off hand skill bar, and would spread passive boons if traited properly. When dropped they produce a larger effect. (lots of damage, lots of protection, lots of conditions, etc.)) I think they would also have a channeling type of utility along with something else new, perhaps something more environmental (skill behavior changes depending on location?)
Elites could be much stronger versions of these; a highly powerful bundle, an awesome signet, a devastating short-term summon replacement (summon an ancient warrior or a small dragon, things like that)
With this in mind, it feels like it would play similarly to either a minionmancer, or a spiritmancer guardian, but would instead focus on building up to spike or anti-spike like a mesmer instead of pressure and condition focus. Sounds interesting to me. (also reminds me a lot of ritualist, but different)
The profession mechanic is a tricky one, but maybe something like F1, F2, and F3, and each triggers a short burst of a summon type. Something damaging, something protective, and something field control.
Every profession needs it’s “thing” tho. It’s unique catch that all other classes do not share. Thieves can steal. Engineers carry kits and have unique skills per other skill equipped. Eles swap attunements, and so on. The summoner would need something very unique as a class mechanic. Looking at what we already have, and the flavor of the class so far, I think it should be more environmental. Skills, or at least profession mechanic skills, change depending on your location. The damage skill would do burning if you’re near lava, or provide poison while in a swamp, and so on.

Advice for new MMO Player:
Please spend as much time away from the forums as possible. They do not represent a majority of the in-game population and will bring you down if you stay too long.
Enjoy the game!
Im looking forward to something new. I hope we can unlock a guild speed booster or waypoint reduction fee fairly cheaply.
if this were in effect I’d already be trolling your prying eyes. I transmuted my gear and the name and stats no longer match! take that!
I hit 80 after 121 hours, and did no crafting. sold most of my collectibles at that point and was able to afford max armor. There were a few binge weekends in there but normally about 2-4 hours every other day.
ok, I’m going to play skeptic here and say “you must have just recently gathered something or got them as drops from mobs, and didn’t notice them in your inventory”
I’m hopeful that you can actually get dyes from salvaging, but at the same time I’d like some proof.
midnight sky, black, and fog on vigil. charr. I like it.

If you have someone on your friends list, a message will appear if you have system messages on when they log on.
You can transfer a portion of your karma to your other characters by buying the new orrian jewelry boxes.
How expensive is this? And how much can you transfer? Should be free tho
with a guild karma booster active, a guild flag karma booster, a personal karma booster all going at once…
you get about 3K karma back for every 4K+ you spend per jewelry box.
You can also “transfer” karma by saving daily and monthly reward jugs and transferring them between characters.
yes. it is already being added. wait like, a week and you’ll be able to do this.
I just blew 15 laurels on 30 dyes. Was it worth it? Yes. Yes, it was.
I did this too. Was totally worth it. Made over 10 gold.
nice turn around for just doing the daily. I run with Rare armor and Masterwork accessories. no problems surviving content for me…
the fact that 2 different flat bonus sigils stack for 2 weapons makes me wish you could apply 2 sigils to two-handed weapons…
Add C.O.D. (gold on delivery) to mail system. Problem solved.
que griefing for supposed “free” trades and offering someone something with a ridiculous fee. oh, ya, I’ll give you those consumables if you can pay 500g. thanks for clearing up the space in my inventory, sucker!
