PvE: Ranged build options?

in Guardian

Posted by: rogerwilko.6895

rogerwilko.6895

Thx Ragnar.
What I meant was PvE single target – dungeon bosses mainly. Is the Scepter dps output enough (yes I will help the party with wise support, but I don’t want to hit for crap anyway)?
For trash I will use GS or whatever else aoe cleave thingy (not fully documented on the Guardian tools yet).

Hi,
what kind of numbers do you get for unload vs single target (say dungeon bosses)?

PvE: Ranged build options?

Good day Guardians!
I would like to know if a Scepter/X build would be a Wise choice for running Dungeons. If the answer is Yes:
- What kind of numbers should I aim for?
- Zerk gear?
- Build if possible, since I never played Guardian.

If the answer is No:
- Why?

Thank you for your time, have a nice day.

PvE (dungeons) wise:

What Good options except Grenades (I dislike the lobbing) and Bombs (I find the idea of planting bombs that only damage the baddies silly) are there?

1). In the past one could make a rifle discharge build work (kinda). Is that gone?

2). What about Power + Condi Mix? Say Elixir gun + P/P? Would that come close to grenade spamming?

3). What about FT for Single Target? What kind of numbers do you guys see?

PvE build?

rogerwilko.6895

For a few days I have been experimenting with a P/P build full zerk gear & speed runes in PvE (dungeons / world bosses / random world events).
I can’t link the build, but it has 6 in Crit strikes (last trait is the life leech from crit) and 6 in Acrobatics. Here are my conclusions:

- no issue with conditions, the ones that are not cleansed by the 10s cooldown sigil of Purity I can heal with the life leech

- no mobility / dodge issues – I have that trait that returns a bit of endurance after a dodge

- mediocre (?) damage. Here I need your advice: in CoF my unloads can hit for 4-5-6k, no might stacks. I can do that this often: Unload – normal shot – normal shot – Unload. IMO that’s not so great, for single target. Can D/D or S/P do better? If so, how much better? I ask because I do not have enough dungeon tokens to buy the weapons and try it myself.

- world bosses, except the Mark2 Golem, all are ok. Huge issues at the mark2 golem, everyone seams to stack at 1200 range and pew pew, and the huge AoEs hit me pretty hard.

Questions:

1). regarding D/D single target choice for Dungeons: Why D/D? I will not be able to see which face the boss is facing at one time because of the explosions / other effects, so I will not be able to land Backstab consistently. Or should I not rely on BS?

2). regarding S/P single target choice for Dungeons: is this advisable?

3). regarding P/P choice for Dungeons, given a 5k unload without Might, should I try Might stacking via Food / Sigils? How much of a difference can that make?

Hello,
just started and I’d like to know in what order would it be wise to focus on the crafting professions? I chose Thief and at some point maybe I will want to craft my own armors / weapons.
Should I start with the Cook / crafting food? Since I guess that will help me on the way to 80 and after?
Any input is appreciated, thank you.

rogerwilko.6895

It’s likely Guild Wars 2 is the second most popular MMO on the market right now.

How can it not have a future?

Well you guys should know better than me, I’m just a random guy looking for information. I asked here because, as far as I know, during the last 2 years (I have been in gw2 since day one but I left at some point because I got kittened about a random patch that added skins and kitten and did not fixed any necro bug – long ago) AN did not:
- learn to talk more with it’s public / fanbase / gamers / whatever you want to call them
- add new dungeons / class / skills /traits (minor details like dhuumfire… come on)
- many of the issues are STILL HERE after 2 (TWO) years.

Now the thing is I have been working in the software business for the past 9 years. What I see here it’s… not normal
So IMO, either they lack funds / people to ‘fix’ what I (and many others apparently) think needs fixing, or they just don’t care (the game is running, funds are comming in from time to time, low investment as people / money & decent output.)

It’s more… Fun for me to play a game that I feel it’s not going down; that the developers / mother company still cares about, if you know what I mean.

Maybe I’m a niche, or whatever (random casual noob). Still. Asking here for opinions rewarded me with points of view so far, so it’s all good.

I really hope your primary source of information on the state of the game isn’t from these forums. Anyone who has played an MMO knows that the forums are a cesspool of gross exaggeration and conjecture….

You should log in and play the game if you really want to know.

I did.
I saw the same thing that I was there 1 year ago.
Same buggy AI in CoF.
Same zero AI for minions.
Same karma trains.
No new dungeons.
Some fixed skills and traits.
Same mindless zergs in WvW.
Better AH interface.
etc.

rogerwilko.6895

Hi,
I do not know the current state of the game.
I do know that issues that were back then were not ‘fixed’ (hobo sacks and others) so this can mean that AN does not want to fix them or it is unable to do so (not enough developers / etc).
I also know that there are no new dungeons… Now this is a big question mark.
Is this game going somewhere (better)?
I keep reading (I came back to take a look for myself, and I also read the forums a bit) that all AN cares is skins, money, and not game issues etc.
Is that just misinformation?

75% of the guardians I ran with during the last weeks used a staff exclusively. Most of them did not have zerk gear (it looked like PVT AC gear to me, but I did not ask / argue).
No, they did not buff might, they just bashed #1 most of the time.

Still I rather have a PVT guardian with staff than a SB ranger without spotter and Frost spirit… at least the guardian provides some healing / condi clean / etc…

The main problem is, in the case of Kohler, that when the party is all stacked in that small space I can’t see kitten. Back in the days when this “stacking” thing was not in use, I had no issue dodging him. But now, with all the big norn warriors and stuff + my explosions, I can’t see kitten.
Thx for the input so far, I will try to adapt.

Hello,
I pug a few (3-4) dungeons every day for a few tokens. I play an engi, zerk gear & bomb (melee-ish range).

In dungeons such as CoE I learned to dodge the subject afa AoEs, but not the ice elementals attacks or that first wolf boss. In AC I cannot find a way to anticipate Kohler’s attacks, and so on

Most of the warriors / guardians (that would be 90% of the players I guess) appear to have found a way to avoid /mitigate the damage.
For me, stacking is… dicey, depending on the boss.

Thank you for the tips.

  • Net Turret: Decreased the immobilize duration from 3 seconds to 2 seconds on the basic attack.

the line to p2w was already crossed with the ore-pack.
the line was already crossed with being able to buy gold for gems.
this and the pick are p2w by definition. t
hat the items (or the chance for items) you get by paying for gemshop stuff are not worth much does not change the fact that you can pay money (or buy “money (gems)” for gold, which systematically doesn’t matter in the end because someone else had to buy it) to generate numerical advatages ingame.
pay-to-win-an-insignificant-amount is still pay-to-win.

since p2w (as it’s defined by logic, people tend to have rude things called “opinions” apart from that) was included in this game from the beginning, i don’t care that much about that pick.
resignation makes indifferent.
just placing my post in this pot of “wrong direction, anet!”-shouters, so that maybe one day it might spill over.
