T1 had 3 GvGs this week (IRON/RISE, TW/RISE, CHOO/ESOL) taking out 1 hour for each match for each server, that’s 6 hours out of the week with a total of 504 hours (168 for each server). That’s like 1.1% of the time.

If someone knew what times these matches occurred, a simple check on http://mos.millenium.org before, during and after the match we could clearly see the effect, positive or negative, GvGs do have, if any, on T1 NA WvW.

This would actually prove or disprove the entire argument up until now, rather than throwing around pointless population numbers that no one has any clue about because ANet won’t release the information.

that is somewhat true but its also falsh as you need to eleminat all other things like pve events, RL problems and compare it to same time span other days and you might have somewhat bullet proof arguments else there are a few flawes in your arguemnts that will make your statistics worthless

Exactly. When people say PPT basically boils down to coverage, that includes many things, like everything you mentioned above. All of that factors into coverage. This thread was created entirely based on confirmation bias.

My guild has boomed recently in both PvP and WvW and we are now interested in starting up GvG. We are just at the stage of forming our classes/builds.

Right now I’m thinking 15 mesmers reflection/retaliation/mass invis builds. LOL just kidding but honestly we would appreciate some basic guidance in team composition and builds. Not asking for proprietary secrets etc just enough info to accelerate our upcoming appearance onto the GvG scene.

Thank you for taking a look into the GvG scene thread, you are the first to recognize our existence, I appreciate it. The reason GvG was being spammed all over is just because everyone before you simply ignores us.

I understand it’s really childish and the stream was not about GvG so our questions were out of place, I apologize, but is there any chance we will get an official reply if “Guild vs Guild” is something Anet is thinking about, considering at all?

I’m not on the design team, so I cannot reply for them. That being said, I can make note of it in my feedback reports.

We know Twitch chat doesn’t make it easy for everyone to be heard. And we know that it can seem that no one is watching these threads. The great thing is that for every respectful and constructive post & thread, it DOES get greater visibility.

With respect, people have been asking politely over and over and over for an entire year. You’re seeing a year of pent up frustration from people who have been patently ignored.

All we want is a real response. Do you plan on officially supporting GvG? Yes or no? One word. That’s all we want.

As things are going right now, I’d be happy with them just not actively destroying the scene.

Ever since we came to T1, it has been such a hassle with the server to schedule a GvG. Hell, in the middle of one of our GvGs, the server admin came into our locked channel and demanded us to cancel the GvG on the spot (RISE v EP) and said if we didn’t to “watch what will happen.” lol. That being said, we didn’t cancel and really didn’t have any fall out. What a joke.

They should just make that capture point 4x the size and then we can GvG on it. It has stands and everything!!

It’s something I wanted to try out if people would use it, unfortunatly it’s almost never used so it won’t come back on the new website.

The present system randomly progresses different servers every week. There’s no real game of “progression” anymore.

Sorry I keep responding to you and playing devils advocate. But there is kinda a importance to playing the PPT game with the current rating system. Take the last few weeks of T1/T2 starting with when JQ got matched with T2 servers. They won decisively while DB and TC had to deal with SoR and BG. Both servers did good but with the coverage gaps its clear they aren’t set for T1. JQ’s first week back they stomped BG into the ground! We lost so much rating that if this week would have gone that way, there would have been a high chance of BG dropping to T2 and the unbalanced matches would have started again. Playing PPT just enough to maintain the current SoR/JQ/BG match is important for the tier.

Yes, but GvG doesn’t affect PPT enough that it matters for what you’re talking about. There would have to be a significant, sustained point loss for rankings to be affected that much.

Guys, this GvG stuff is silly. Everyone knows real GvG is 80v80. T1 NA is the only place that does it right.

If you think they’re tearing the GvG people to shreds, you should ask them what they think about your T1 map “skill blobs”

I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the EP people trying to rez the thief just didn’t know better. It’ll be pretty obvious if he’s still in the guild or not next time we play TC and there are GvGs about.

This “rule” is why common/big/experienced names in WvW on a given server are always the people who are followed and trusted. They have “paid their dues” and “earned” their way there.

I have absolutely nothing against GvG, it is certainly more skillful than random zerging. This constant chest bumbing, self praise and most importantly thinking of it as the most elite PvP WvW has to offer is getting really old and makes you guys look not so good, tho.

I`m cringing inside when reading King Armadeus`posts, that arrogance… from someone who`s probably not able to hold his own in an environment where mechanical abilities are really needed to succeed. Just sad.

We don’t have population or really coverage imbalance in t1 NA saiyr. Since the change I think the only servers out of T1 we faced were TC and DB. We are all very high to full. So I guess its skill when we win against T1 or T2 servers right? lol

That may be true, that T1 doesn’t have population or coverage imbalance (I don’t believe it personally), so sure, maybe it comes down to relative skill in your tier, but your point has nothing to do with your original post, which claims there is some large skill gap between lower and higher tiers:

When it comes to the combat aspect some guild have large forces and some have small each work within their means. Some of the larger forces may be able to focus on fields and position alone the smaller forces however play out a lot like spvp. All the while big or small these forces have to be wary of their and the enemies position in respect to there objectives to make sure they are the hunters and not the hunted. Along with the other strategic aspects.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at. Every server has large and small groups. How are yours so much more special than ours in terms of skill? That’s what I want to know. When you play a T3 server, do you honestly think you’re winning purely from skill and not because of a vast population and coverage advantage?

Idk if this has been mentioned but there is a guild (which shall remain unnamed) that purposefully gets their characters close to leveling to help them win the first couple of rounds. This is very hard to prove (it was only confirmed to me by a member of that guild that I’m friends with).

Okay, you’re right about that, but all that is is dedication and willingness to rearrange your life around winning a video game. Waking up at 4 to play a video game is not about skill, it is once again about coverage. Maybe you guys enjoy that, but I certainly wouldn’t and I’m not sure I will ever completely understand people that do.

Pretty much every single GvG guild has done “real WvW” for many months now, and many of us are recognized for open field skill against large groups. I’ve played WvW almost every day of this game’s existence minus the short time it took me to reach Straits of Devastation and get bored of PvE, and most of it wasn’t spent in GvG. People like you who look down on non-T1 servers because you think it’s purely “skill” are completely mistaken. It’s like that one JQ guy who said “oh yeah Maguuma could beat JQ’s SEA zerg if only they had any skill”…what a joke. If you want to be taken seriously then please enlighten us on all this hard work you put into being T1 that isn’t recruiting more guilds to come to T1.

It takes allot to recruit guilds you have to show them you have a good program and that the alliance will be worth their time and gold. This is something that is only shown through months of effort along with the ability to share your vision.

I don’t expect foot soldiers to understand the plight of a generals, but in good communities it is something that is very apparent. We have people/guilds that pull all nighters, that go to sleep early so they can fight in other time zones, and lead everyday for the good of there community.The team work and efficiency on our servers is breathtaking. I could give you 1000 examples, but I could never portray the weight of the situations. When your doing something that means something to you and you overcome the odds it is undescribable.

I almost envy you guys I wish I was on a lower tiers so I could gather forces and kill the giants all over again, but I know I would prolly never find as good of a group of guys to play with as I have found on blackgate.

The intense dedication you have to “winning” this game is impressive if people really do pull all nighters and sleep weird hours to fight in other time zones. However that is still all about coverage and not skill, and isn’t something people with regular daytime jobs can do. It sounds to me like you’re saying your planning is about planning coverage and marketing tactics.
