GvG is a guild versus guild in a CONTROLLED environment within a BALANCED game. I know you all are trying to make it progress, but it’s just not gonna happen until you give credit where credit is due. You can’t have a guild ladder saying one guild is master just because he beat the #2 guild.
I don’t care how or when you use GvG, but as generic term it does state controlled.

I don’t really disagree with you on the ladder point. I agree with the people who say the historical record of fights is the most interesting part. And of course I don’t disagree that GW1 required more skill, especially since GvGs here are larger. I don’t really see why that’s an issue if most of the people here like larger sizes.

Windmill GvG is about as controlled as it can get without venturing into sPvP, which, let’s face it, is a dead horse debate. If sPvP was actually a good game mode then GW2 wouldn’t be a DOA “e-sport”. As for a game being balanced, well, that’s not really up to us.

If you want to make your own version of GvG feel free to start, otherwise you’re just getting bothered that someone disagrees with your “right” opinion.

Find a new name for GvG. Call it Zerg v Zerg. You can’t call a guild number one just because they were better button mashers than the latter. Try making a custom arena in tPvP. I am somewhat against this idea. There are many legitimate reasons why a guild may not be able to GvG during the week and any one of those reasons can be invented as an excuse for people who simply don’t want to fight you. The ratings will never be perfect because of it, and I don’t see why we’re not okay with it—everyone will be aware if #1 and #2 haven’t fought each other and it will call their statuses into question automatically.

It’s pretty easy to siege up and defend with 40v60. Maybe you should figure that part out.

This probably isn’t going to be a popular statement with a lot of you, but I’m all for getting the GvG comments out of the WvW forums. It’s pretty much irrelevant in a WvW matchup thread, although it does bring a certain amount of drama to the table. The drama I don’t mind, but all the high fives, GG’s, ect., ect. are quite boring.
That being said, I doubt Anet will giving anyone a GvG format and/or map to play on. They’ve got Spvp tournaments and you have the ability to PAY for your own areas to fight in. There’s your level playing field and your GvG format. I can almost guarantee that would be Anet’s standpoint as well. I’d be very surprised if they actually did create an actual GvG arena for free.

So as i understand SoJ adds another 10% damage reduction. So from example 1 to example 2 the 10% is almost the same as 500 armor and from example 2 to example 3 it is roughly 600 armor.

I believe the post marked as the answer is correct. The damage reduction on gw2buildcraft is just giving you the damage reduction compared to base/reference armor (1,836). For example if you have 3,000 armor and you take 1,000 damage, that’s 3,000,000 raw damage. To get the effective armor with Signet of Judgment you just divide 3,000,000/900 and get ~3,333. The damage reduction numbers on gw2buildcraft are (3,000-1,836)/3,000=38.8% and (3,333-1,836)/3,333=44.9%. Basically effective armor caused by % damage reduction has to be computed with respect to your current armor because 10% is not a fixed amount of armor for all possible values. It increases linearly as a function of armor.

I shouldn’t have been able to do that either but yay for 7 hour delays. I think we had some raids but I wasn’t there for any of them. My point was that the lower wvw rank indicates experience with that profession in a pvp scenario. I highly doubt an assaulter would be a regular spvp player. It happens, sure, but isnt the norm.

I disagree (unless we’re still talking about sPvP, but zzz). I got most of my 80s before ranks came out and got a decent amount of experience on them. I still main my ele so most of my WXP is on that character, but I would still feel bad if I was on my assaulter/invader ranked guardian/mesmer/thief/engineer and lost a 3v1.

It will be hard for JQ to survive in lower tiers, especially T3/T4, since constant GvG keeps lower tier guilds competitive.

I doubt it. We’re having queues now like we haven’t seen in quite some time (except for the past couple days with a six figure lead that is). It seems to have rejuvenated the community to have someone fresh to go up against. The competition has been no where near as competitive as BG & SoR, but it’s been fun. I think a lot of us are ready to get back to some competition again though, so hopefully the energy will sustain once we’re facing them again.

But that’s not how fairweathers work.

EDIT: tbh, I only watched the first two scenes and that was enough. If you don’t wipe the enemy on a jack in the box, you screwed the pooch hard. Then comes the part at SE camp where there’s 10 jq stacked and wiped in 5 seconds… I figured the rest of the 19 minutes wasn’t worth watching.

After reading all the chest thumping from mag in this thread i decided to check out the pvp leaderboard. To my surprise there is only 1 player from mag in the top 100. I was also surprised to see jq had the #2 and #3 player currently. I guess people on mag cant figure out that is also a game based on points not egos.

And Anvil Rock (last tier) has more top ranked sPvP players than most of the servers combined. Your point?
