To clear up confusion….
Rapid fire is a channeling skill, if they start channeling with you as a target, it doesn’t matter what you do or where you go, the rapid fire will follow you.
It’s the same for other skills such as Mesmer scepter 3, the confusing beam will follow the opponent due to being a channeling skill.
It is not an exploit.
If you honestly think it’s bad, try playing a manipulation traited Mes and using Mass Invisibility during a Rapid fire or if you have duel line traited to reflect on dodge, it’s a real pain if you were already stealthed.

Yes you can get there from the forums. You don’t have to rank up to be able to take the poll. Anybody registered on the site can take the poll. What happens when you rank up in WvW is you get a message saying there is a poll… but it doesn’t matter even if you go into WvW at all.. you can still take the poll in the forums.
Alright – so then there’s the answer how anyone from the game could have their vote on what BL we should have and with that the “all wvw voted and 66% wanted the DBLs to stay” is probably exaggerated.
I said you needed to level up once and you said “No, you have to rank up” which to me is the same kitten, you completely missed the point that a PvE player can come in and vote on WvW changes, might aswell say “guys if you use a bank in LA, you get to vote on PvE changes.”
To over simplify with numbers.
10 players:
7 play PvE/PvX
2 play WvW
1 play PvP
Those 7 people might only do 1 hour of WvW a week in total, the 2 WvW players have been in WvW every day for 4 years.
A poll is brought out to get the WvW opinion, the 7 people vote for 1 thing not knowing any better while the 2 who WvW chose a vote thats best for the game mode via knowledge.
The group of 7 win the poll vote for WvW because of numbers, the poll is skewed and never reach the intended target audience.
66% of players might have voted the map in but it wasn’t 66% of WvW players and I’m sure you Jana have been a WvW player for quite some time so I’m surprised to even see you not understanding this.

Or maybe they should remove the map that no one likes and not change anything!
Do I need to link the poll results to you or you’ll change the “no one likes” part yourself?
majority of people doesnt like desert borderlands, it was implied by devs that if we vote no on the map it will affect future development effort in negative way
the map is dead second day after release already
66% of the people voted to keep it. If their motives was to hope for a new map other than the desert, they should just suck it up and ignore DBL existence instead of crying about it when they did voted to keep it.
Unless the people crying are on the 33% that voted for DBL termination, but then it’s the minority crying outloud and stating that they are “everyone”, which they aren’t.
I’m pretty sure you only needed to level up once to get a vote, which meant anyone could vote. Seeing as this game is PvE centric and WvW/PvP have smaller communities I’m sure you can see why Desert borderlands was brought back. In saying all that I think it’s fair for WvW players to be annoyed by this change.
The introduction of the Borderlands is a little iffy too, it’s someones empty borderlands which by nature causes imbalance to a match up. It’s not a separate map like EotM.

We’ve been talking about personal score a bit. I’m personally of the opinion that it isn’t representative of a player’s effort in a given match, and it also can be incredibly misleading and potentially lead to bad gameplay habits (5-capping home).
If you were to redesign personal score, what would you do? Does it track different types of stats? Would you want your personal stats displayed to other players?
I would get rid of personal score.
Keep the stats and the awards, but get rid of personal score. It’s a team game after all.
If you’re worried about not giving every kid a medal for their effort, the medal should be the win for team work and not personal score hunting. (english is bad but hopefully you understand)
I had a Warrior last game who said exactly “let him flip home and ill flip it back for points”…. We lost the game by 14 points trying to play around that Warriors logic.

I think the hammer is fantastic but the AA could definitely use a speed up as for the rest of skills, they could be updated but nothing extreme.
- this skill is amazing and does not need a change
- The projectile immobilized needs to be faster, people can side step it.
- banish is fantastic, maybe let it hit more than 1 person though?
- fantastic skill, no change needed. Especially not knockback, it’s good to trap people INSIDE the ring.

Hi there,
First, here’s the a recent post on the topic:
With the start of Season 4, we’ll be returning to Season 1’s style of matchmaking which focuses on creating the most balanced teams from the players queueing within your pip range. This change may widen the skill range of players in each division, but we feel that increased match quality is worth the trade-off of reduced prestige for this season. During Season 2 and 3 we added two league features that greatly impacted your ability to climb: start-of-season division placement based on previous season performance and win/lose streak pips, and both of these features will remain enabled for Season 4.
Season 4 matchmaking is already using MMR to create the most balanced teams possible. Teams are no longer “stacked” as they were in Season 2 and 3.
The problem (that we’re solving for S5) is that we’re currently searching for players close to your division to match you against. This means that the pool of players that we can pull from to create a match is much smaller than if we were using the entire pool of players. A player may have a high-enough MMR to put them in the top 100, but if they’re in Sapphire they’re only going to get matched with players that are in or around Sapphire. Season 5 will use the entire pool of players for creating matches – this should help the system create more balanced matches and improve queue times.
As for the “forced 50/50”, there’s nothing on the backend that forces a certain win-rate. This is a byproduct of your MMR settling.
I don’t believe this byproduct….
I win a few games with team mates who know what they are doing, they have a minimum of 12k AP each…. A few wins later I’m on a team that doesn’t even have a total of 6k AP…..
The system forces losses so everyone can have medal and it’s kittening bullkitten.

I just hate the protection uptime that Scrapper has, its unnecessary to have permanent protection and regen at the same time, then we have the Elixir S trait, some take double Elixir S, Moa is annoying too… Zzz… They’re ‘OK’, whats not fine is how much sustain they have, takes 2 or 3 to take down 1, they can bunker a point almost indefenitely and do disgusting damage
Elixer S is a death sentence if you have conditions on you.
Would you mind sharing this OP build?

I laughed about the gift of battle… Remember when map completion was tied to WvW?
Gw2 has a bad design system in some aspects, such as PvE legendaries earnt in WvW or WvW guild upgrades for WvW guilds to be earnt in PvE.
Also for point 1: The zerg sounds like it was on TS and you weren’t? You’ll find WvW has TS so it’s worth asking for details because that comm most likely said “bomb the AC and move back” and the people without TS might have thought “tag moved, lets push”.

I put these up in another thread a while ago.
This might help, it may not. I don’t understand the issue personally. As annoying as it is, Guards need all those passive blocks and Aegis just to stay relevant atm.
-Dodge through traps, double dodge if you have too.
-Notice where the DH stands, most likely that’s where his traps are. If not, they are between you both somewhere, so go in on the sides.
-The Trap rarely covers the whole point, use the sides to cap assuming you have killed the DH
-If you see a DH drop 3 traps, let your team know. (assuming you died)
- Use range weapons that have no reflect, it’s limited but do-able.
- Use skills that are unblockable
- Boon strip once f3 is popped
- AoE the 3x block shield
- Damage mitigation – This includes a combo of protection/regen and frost aura. Gather other sources if possible.
- Ontop of damage mitigation you also need to further decrease your opponents DPS output by applying Weakness and blind. Weakness is especially important against a DH.
- Don’t stand on red circles
- If you’re on point and a DH is charging you, if he has Judges Intervention then assume he will use it with a trap bomb so just dodge once you think he’s about to engage (800-1000 range away generally)… It’s a game of chance but its much better to randomly dodge a burst than what it is to soak up a burst.
-Any class with Ai can be used to activate traps before engaging, this includes Gyros, Pets, Minions and Clones
-Most classes with evades for skills can dodge traps, say a GS3 from a Warrior or that hammer trick from a Rev (not a pro on rev but even I know that hammer can proc safely)
-If a DH throws his F1 at you, pop stab or get behind something that will obstruct the pull, some examples would be Nhifil and mid point, just back up a little down the ramp, that alone is enough to stop the pull (although this one sometimes shoots you up in the air and you will die to fall damage lol)… better yet are those pillars or the corners of the walls depending on the DH and your positioning.. Point is, use obstructables to counter the pull.
-Kiting a DH and range pressure will be DH downfall in the end, it’s more important to kill the person on cap point then take it rather than previous seasons where we all face tank and push people off point.
Obviously everyone has different styles of play and different amounts of experience, but this is just some of the things that help me and I mostly run Viper/Marauder builds. I do die to DH from time to time, but it’s always my fault or mistake.

No tips or advice will help to fight a DH because it’s a different encounter every time. DH is just simply broken. You give all these tips but truthfully, if the DH know how to play the class then he/she has already won. They don’t work for their wins, they make YOU work for your win. Simple as that. I expect DH to get nerfed hard as well as Thief because if we’ve all learned something, it’s that it’s never a GW2 balance update unless you nerf Thief.
The tips here are a general tip list for most encounters, not all guardians take judges intervention and not all take virtues to boon strip on F3… You need to decide what’s best. Some of the tips are a necessary though such as applying weakness and giving yourself protection if you decide to face tank.
A good DH should make me work for a win, as should any other player that’s good on their class.

the only fix for wings I can think of, they float on a Charrs back… Not by much, but enough to see. (refer to last pic)
Also, all of the pics you guys presented are taken in combat stance mode, how often do you guys find yourself in combat mode but not using any skills? Because the wings react to your skills and movement.

All seriousness.. Would be nice if they gave Rangers the spirits can follow trait back.
It was probably an issue once Anet found out that people were using spirits to soak up enemy AoE caps, but I’m sure they could work a fix around that.

Condition builds are hard capped by the class, low risk but high reward. Power builds are capped by the players skill.
….. And Elementalist.
A mesmer does boonshare if you run that, portal or veil and then generally has poor options for getting lootbags. This ties to what I and others have said, classes with pet mechanics suffer from lower coefficients and do a lot less damage in zergs vs equivalent specs on other classes.
actually it’s not that bad with the chrono. Lately i’m seeing a lot of Well chronos reking zergs when they drop the elite and calamity at the same spot twice in a row. Chrono is the lowest dps but you only need 18k dps to instakill an average player.
You can drop Well Of Calamity 4 times onto a zerg as a mesmer if running Mimic.
Continuum Split > Mimic > Well > Well > Continuum Split > Mimic > Well > Well.
Running Mimic lets you drop 4x Anything.

this is so embarssing ""balance"" @anouther bad seasonit’s funny what you are saying because guardian is a really good counter to condi mesmer and you see a lot more DH than condi mesmers playing ranked
Viper Mesmer beats DH hands down anyday.
You would have to be a terrible Mesmer to die in this meta to anything besides a thief too with the lack of condition removal and tanky amulets.
Also the counter to DH hasn’t changed in 4 seasons, it’s still as basic as using clones, gryos, pets or what ever to activate traps before engaging. Or even a dodge if you feel like wasting one.

Is it not better carrion for condi mesmer ? I main an engi but i play also mesmer quite a lot and i don’t have great problems against DH. Blink … staff 2 … distortion, sword 2 … shield … mesmer has many way to avoid traps and to kill a dh … i don’t see dh as an impossible match up. I have much more problem against some warriors condi … than against dh for their cc
It could be actually… My mes is not meta I don’t think, it’s a Manipulation/PU/shatter build with a Greatsword instead of Staff and seeing those nasty as crits ontop of 10+ confusion/torment is just melting everything. Exactly like you said, warriors are more of a problem through stances, but warriors can be kited through blinks and map terrain. Thief is hard with gap closers if they can focus quick enough.
I’m not pro or ESL either, so my opponents wouldn’t be either. You can hit pretty hard with the combo of Mimic/Continuum Shift and Well of calamity too with your berserkers and 2x Mindwrack/Cry Of Frustration. (troll build which lead to my current build)

There’s always /bow…
Most players know /bow means “duel” with no stomping. It’s been this way for 4 years now despite the “1v1 shouldn’t happen in wvw at all” nonsense.
Actually, I thought “/bow” means “well played”, but that’s because (a) I don’t duel so (b) I don’t pay attention to any presumed etiquette. It’s WvW and I’ll help out my teammates who are being attacked, especially when they are along the primary routes to objectives. If someone reminds me that they might be dueling, then, sure, I’ll hold back.
Never presume that other people share the same etiquette as you do.
I never do, If they don’t bow back, I quaggan stomp them. If they do, I duel.
Or I just follow enemy zergs as a Quaggan or sit in enemy keeps as Quaggan until enemy Quaggans join me. So far only SF has killed solo Quaggans in groups. Even most of YB/SoS let me follow them.
