First off, I’ve made condi burst builds that can stack 4-5k ticks worth of burning within seconds. Most players will drop before they even know what hit em, especially if they are otherwise engaged which is what you want with this builds. Condition builds shouldn’t be able to burst. If we are to differentiate them, lets.
This says it all. In fact, if condi runners were not being shamelessly defending their opness they would acknowledge the blatant and simple fact that everywhere where condition is viable, its always worth it to run it over power.

Thief. check
Mesmer. check
Necromancer. check
Elementalist. Check
kitten even Dragon hunters run burning builds.If Thief Warrior and Dragon hunter dont run power, which are the quintessential power icon classes, who the kitten is supposed to run power?.
Lol. Power thief is considered better and most run power. Necro and Mesmer are condi but not always. Warrior it’s about 50/50. Elementalist mostly power. Most DH are still power.
Like more than 50% are running power but condi needs to be nerfed? Lol.

Reality on the other hand shows that the only classes running power are Scraper and SOME Dragon Hunters. Thats it.
if 5v5 required 5 man parties i think there would be very low amount of condi builds if any. but the way it is we some some here and there and definetly there is more power builds in the meta than condi, dont embarrasses yourself by disputing that.

I’m only in Gold but I agree, power is more effective with team play. Atleast with premade teams, you all know your roles, where you’re going and what you’re doing. The builds get interesting and start interlocking with each other for some good synergy between abilities and traits, the most common being a a resourceful way for all allies to cleanse each others conditions passively and covering each others weak spots.
I actually think it’s a fresh new perspective on conditions rather than just saying “OP NERF OMG”. Heard all the other arguments, but this perspective is relative in so many ways the more you think about it. Such a simple change, changed so much. It redefined classes as a whole as to what and how they should play as a solo/duo player rather than team player which can naturally favour condition builds.

Necro’d a thread on Necro
I do played almost all of the necro builds. I played mostly Corruption Mancer. But this photos are made with Minion Mancer and I can bravely say it still worth and its pretty strong and tanky with a decent team or even with a bad one.
My Menders transfusion necro gets quite a bit of rage too…..

Yea condi is much easier….
Plaguelands + epidemic = win.
2 buttons, win point against 3+ people.
Play Ele, use about 29 skills through 4 elements and 2 rotation cycles, still holding point waiting for allies to down something.
I played my placement matches on a berserker Ele, lost 5, still in Gold.
No challenge in ranked, where did all the good players go?
To other games the support a competitive environment and is supported by ESL. GW2 is one of the worst when it comes to it. But still GW2 is fun none the less, as long as you don’t have high expectations.
I mostly just play for fun but fun to me is a challenge.
I’m completely ignored on my staff ele with fire/air/temp build.

Excuse the poor quality and skill clicking but roaming was best 3 years ago when things like this happened every 2-5 minutes.
no more Ticket cap , i just got 14 tickets on the first Diamond Chest after finishing diamond tier.

ranger never really benefitted from celestial the biggest offenders were: ele, warrior and engi rifle – they were broken and overused. this was when s/d existed as well.
now with druid it could be different but not really, what made celestial so good was for hybrids with good power coefficients and condition dmg output with 25 might could output high condition damage on top of it and the amazing bunker that came with it…
with druid staff you have no conditions and the only pair off you could put with staff would be something like sword/warhorn or sword/dagger both of which are not condi heavy at all and provide mechanic sustain (evades) over any condition you would expect from it.
maybe a druid condi hybrid , but then you kind of lose the point of using celestial since if you use strict condi weapons, you have no power output.
druid/ranger has always suffered from this lack of hybrid synergy so celestial never worked in spvp (obviously you might be able to mix and match to achieve something in WvW)
condi will , again, do nothing but bring a handful of classes back to the top again and you’ll literally fall into the same hole you were in years ago only with HoT builds it was just be that much worse.
Druid celestial would be rather effective with Ancient Seeds, and thats only 1 trait.

Would this “spell-breaker” essentially ruin my Diviner Shout Guardian build?
I’ve found in this condi meta that my shout guard has been quite useful, my Ele has been having trouble with condi’s lately since my return but my guard is just breezing through it.
If I remember correctly Celestial was removed solely based on Celestial Elementalist D/D build with Cantrip Might stacking.
They have since removed the Cantrip Might build and Introduced an intense power creep with HoT.
I think it’s time to bring back Celestial, even for unranked purposes atleast.
(my ONLY concern with Celestial is in Conjunction with Druid and Warrior builds.)

I’m hoping they can use territories in conjunction with the out manned buff. If implemented the right way, it could potentially encourage zergs to split up and create smaller squads running around the map, similar to what it was like before they put golems on the trading post and created the tower champ train we know today.

Start in fire and attune to earth to get earth 1+2 and fire 4+5.
When attunement swap is up cast ring of fire, switch to water.You now have water 1+2 and earth 4+5, use your 2 earth blasts.
As soon as you can switch to fully water and use frozen burst. If you time it all right you should get 3 blasts inside ring of fire. You might even be able to get a dodge roll in earth into it all for another blast.

They are still useful, a while back like 1+ years ago, I remember a commander on my side asked everyone to put on fall damage trait when we were defending hills, then we all jumped on the enemy group that was clumped near their catas at cata wall. Quite a few of them got thrown off the cliff and many of those remaining we’re either low health or downed.
So in your 2-3 years playtime of gw2 this trait was useful once, thanks to crazy coordination of a group…

Personally I think with gliding, most people might end up running fall damage after they die a few times from……… fall damage!

it’s not gonna be able to. D/D ele still dead, at least as we know it now. Especially with shocking aura going away most of the time. Hopefully a brand new play style develops that fills the same role, or at least a role other than healbot for pvp.
I must have missed this memo about D/D being dead… how does 20s of shocking aura go away? how is Ele locked into healbot? what?

in pvp d/d ele is dead, at least at the higher tiers, and is only run for fun, it doesn’t compete with other meta builds at a viable level. i meant shocking aura on air 3 for dagger will be really hard to gain access to on weaver seeing as you have to swap to air twice. also the shocking aura from overload and from elite will be gone so no more crazy shocking aura uptime, but that’s not d/d specific.
I didn’t realise we had a viable level, it carried me to platinum before I had an extended break and thought that was sufficient enough from a scrubs point of view but I guess not lol.
I get what you mean by Aura now… Weaver might actually gut my D/D build if might stacking can’t work AND the downtime on Aura, I usually rely on Lightning Rod trait
to proc on auras for that extra damage.

I use this skill quite a bit in conjunction with Hunters Fortification, Pure Of Heart, Retributive Armour, Might Of The Protector, Unscathed Contender, Amplified Wrath, Shattered Aegis or Wrathful Spirit depending on the build I’m using.
The skill itself can work wonders with trait lines….
Pretty good for stomping, initiating first fight, rezzing, eh list goes on….

I think he’s talking about Kraalle playing on Helio’s account and Karina playing on Throwny’s account. That, however, was Jeff’s team, which got 3rd/4th, not the second place team. Still an issue, but at least they didn’t take money for it, I guess…
So if it’s common to share accounts among you guys, why were Abj banned and shamed for their actions? Everyone seems pretty upset that they shared accounts but don’t really seem to bat an eye at others doing it?

If there is no pros, then there is nothing to watch. I don’t know how that effects your viewership, but lets hope I’m the only sole person who thinks this way.

I’ve only just started getting back into the game again.
D/D Mender Ele, Lightning Rod build with Aura share and condition cleansing via runes/sigils… They can’t touch me or my team without stunning themselves (static aura spam).
In short, they are useless and easily countered.

There’s no definite proof of match manipulation in that way so, it just wont get reported unless there’s substantial evidence…. but such evidence revolves around the user admitting it in actual in-game chat =/

2v2 would be a nice addition to the pvp queues.
I don’t mind if they just get rid of 5v5 conquest, don’t think it’s good enough to be a PvP game mode for a couple of reasons, don’t think it would be played if 2v2 get support and I think that 2v2 is far better for the competitiveness that PvP players are asking.

He clearly said he’s CC’d and getting CC’d. He can’t dodge when he’s already stunned.
One of my builds for Warrior is control Hammer with Mace/Shield, bulls charge and headbutt and the whole point of that build is to pick a necro and keep him perma knocked down until the damage kills him.

Do you remember when eles was literally Unkillable? ANet had to rebuild a class just to make eles killable! (Necromancer with boon corruption skills/spam)

Do you remember guardian bunker?Actually there’s only elementalists that can be called Tank, but if compared to what they was back in time they’re support build damage oriented, not tank. (still if in this meta they’re damage is poor if compared to all the other classes)
If you don’t pay attention and don’t active your defensive skills you die (the only one that really use a passive defensive skill is the Warrior). 90% of the actual builds are Damage Dealer builds focusing on DPS.
Defensive stats and things like regeneration don’t mean anything now because can’t mitigate the damage output of the classes enough to keep you alive, the same is for the amount of HP (example: necromancers have tons of hp but are really easy to kill because don’t have any kind of Block/Immunity skill).The actual meta is DPS and I really like it.
If you want more fast death, ask to increase the damage of the classes so everyone can die in 2 seconds if don’t dodge. But that is not an answer to our problems, only one more.
Eles were only unkillable to those newer players who didn’t possess the right knowledge on how to beat an Ele….. (CC + poison)

so why do they even have the water bar on ele ,i put healing power i sacrifice damage to give sustain on the team and they end up dead like i casted nothing.

I find it easier if you pretend that your team mates are useless despite how much support you could potentially bring.
My Staff Ele is Fire/Air/temp and nuking a point quickly is much more effective than healing your team in a prolonged fight. It’s also alot more fun considering the match becomes a survival contest.
Mind you, I don’t take this game seriously anymore.
Or you use your signet to remove immob, or perhaps you play with the dodgeroll heal, or you teleport away with your shadowsteps which will likely make immob run out before they reach you again oooor…… Surprise: just dodge the immob to begin with. It can’t be that hard with a gazillion dodges, right?
Yep, here is prime example of a person that doesn’t play a thief but somehow thinks he is an expert. Thief does not have gazillion dodges. But they supposed to dodge everything somehow. Or blow really long CDs to deal with really short CD, yeah sure. You know immob is not only tool other classes have to keep someone in place. What else would you suggest?
P.S. just fyi, dodgeroll heal is called Withdraw and can’t be used when stunned/dazed which occurs a lot when you fight mesmer for example.
I rarely play thief but even I’m not delusional enough to say thief isn’t over packed with dodges and immob clears….
Get some adventure runes or what ever, energy sigil, withdraw and acro and you can dodge all day.
If a necro is on point he is a free kill because he can’t kite.
I find that if a necro utilizes chill, or grasping hand, or spectral walk, they can kite a bit…maybe not as much as most classes but they can still kite a bit.
But when you’re on a point you can’t kite.
You can’t kite when confined to a point because you are working in a confined zone. Hence a necro on point is a free kill.
You can still kite on point as necro, you don’t have to facetank everything lol
As said already most likely…. CHILL, spectral walk, Flesh Wurm, Fear, cripple, Immobilise, Shroud 2, 3 and 5, Marks that involve chill and fear, boon corruption on stability and so.
The strongest roamers are the ones who dedicate themselves to fighting.
So many roamers in WvW are only there for the sentries/camps or +4 kills, it’s why they usually run or stare at you till someone comes and helps them.
They should have forum moderators handle in game reports, I bet half the community would get banned at the drop of a pin.

So… You’re making a thread to tell the players who genuinely enjoy the game as it is to stop saying they enjoy the game as it is when other players are saying that they don’t enjoy the game as it is because obviously™ the vast majority of players don’t enjoy the game as it is ?
More seriously though, there isn’t 2 camps of Anet-blind-fanboys and players wanting change. For each arguments, there will be people having varied opinions regardless of where they stand. Not everyone enjoys the same thing and everyone’s ‘perfect world’ is different.
New people who have just started to PvP may very well enjoy it but to the people who aren’t new, they have a better time to reflect upon, a comparison to make between the games current state and previous state.
Well the reasons for that “reflection” are much harder to quantify then as stated. When a game like railraod tycoon came out, I played the thing to death. The second iteration was good as well but time the third came out it lost its lustre. This does not mean RR Tycoon 1 was the better game.
The nature of PvP and WvW in the GW2 context is that people have already spent many thousands of hours breaking down the skills and tryng to learn what works best with what and which builds have the maximum potential to defeat another given build.
To the new player this is all new so it retains that lustre. To the old player it is a "been there done that " mindset. If a persons only focus is the win and not trying out different things just for the sake of the challenge or because it might be more fun , than there going to be much less “game” overall and when speaking to PvP players are very often mixed in with different types of players ie those who focus on winning which can lead to acrimony.
This is something that is not unique to GW2. It happens in the real world too where some want to play a sport to have fun where the focus is just on the play and others want to play sports just to win where the focus the trophy. Mixing the two types together often does not work out very well.
This is not so much an ANET problem as it a people problem. This does not mean there something WRONG with those people, it only means we are all different and have different likes and it hard to develop a team based online game that can appeal to all .

Anet has stated repeatedly that the vast majority of PvP players plays solo. You sure see how this contradicts your argument.
