Seph, so you’re saying it wouldn’t help if players are ACTUALLY LIMITED to only being able to have 30 people per BL map as opposed to 60-70 people? You’re saying this wouldn’t help with the blobbing issue? That fighting against 30 man groups isn’t any better or different from fighting 60-70 man groups (especially if you have around 15-20 people in your own zerg)?
Well if you limit people to 30 to a map, you’re gonna have a few roamers, few duelers, few scouts, few guild parties running around and some afks at spanw which means your blob is about 5-10 people.
5-10 people running around a map decreases fights due to the fact of less people on field. That doesn’t sound like WvW, that sounds like sPvP or a small GvG of pugs.
But for arguments sake, lets say everyone on map rallies on tag, what would you do with your 30 people? I bet you would do what the blob does already, go from one empty tower to the next in a vague attempt to level Elites.
It wouldn’t help.
Blobbing up is a player mentality and not an Anet design.
Safety in numbers I think is the saying and lets be honest, one of the appeals for WvW is MASSIVE PVP battles.
So if I understand this right… You are allowed to afk farm with pets, as long as you return to your pc every so often and tap “W” to move forward a little to prevent you being kicked out and that’s ok?
You’re just trying to find every excuse to say you shouldn’t get in trouble for it.
You must have missed the part of his/her post where the GM said
……Attempts by our GMs were made to contact you in-game to see if you were actively playing but there was no response. With that, we must assume that the actions were being automated while away from the computer……
If they send you a whisper and get no response, then come back later and you’re in that same location and still won’t respond to them, then they’re going to assume you’re not actually playing the game. So they didn’t suspend him/her just because the account seemed to have no activity. A GM in game actually went to the location of that player and tried to get him/her to respond in some way.
Exactly, if you’re around the PC and move forward every so often by pressing W then you can also clearly see the screen to reply to said messages…
Not trying to find excuses, it’s a loophole.
1) Using skill (1 or more) while AFK
2) AFKing in a place where it is beneficial for your character to be at
3) Unresponsive to interaction with GMsIf all 3 of these apply to what you are doing, you may get actioned for it.

I honestly don’t blame him. That matchmaking.
I get on, see how many people I know are on and who wants to group roam.
If no one on, I roam alone and take parts in all aspects of WvW, zerging if a zerg strolls by, dueling if I find duelers, grouping up with pugs to flip camps, sitting at enemy keep on thief and just keep it tagged for half hour while I eat something or I go out in tonic form and make friends with the enemy…
I rez people I see down, if there is enemy around I tend to fight them off first before trying to rez unless they are in downed state.
I throw lots of siege onto enemy players who gank me and fail and sometimes for lolz I can get a Golem v Golem going with an enemy or a 1v1v1 instead of a duel (much more fun)
Shatter builds are still strong.

shatter is not actually strong. It’s mediocore, neither good, nor bad. The only reason they appear strong is because the player is skilled, Or the opponent of the shatter mesmer is relatively unskilled. To have an power shatter appear strong the player’s skill level has to be so far above his opponent that he cannot allow himself to be hit more then twice. And has to play and know the class perfectly. The shatter has no condi cleanse aside from a sigil of generosity, It’s incredibly squishy with its 1888 armour. It has almost no might build up thus it’s overal dps is medicore safe for a few burst combo’s which you must pull of perfectly. Which is gonna be hard against most classes . Even if u know the class so well that u can dish out dps equal with that of the current meta builds. It still lacks quite a bit of survivability aside from 2 stealth skills. , condi cleanse on a generosity sigil which means u cleanse a condition by chance mind you, a distortion on sword skill 2, distortion on shatter skill f4 and a heal skill. It has no passive defences no protection, no aegis, no regenation, And sure u can say oh well it has blinds on shatter? That means nothing in a meta where u have bruisers who can cleanse them like nothing. So even that is highly dependent on the way u apply them.
Most shatters burst are mediocore safe for a few combo’s that require a quick vulneability build. Actually the few passive traits that it has such as powerblock and confounding suggestions are so hard to make use of since stability and stunbreaks are pretty much available to most builds espically those currently in meta.
Heck even moa got it’s duration nerfed considerly by nearly half. So even bursting a moa bird down which is not a surekill got much harder.
The Power Shatter is mediocore.
A strong power shatter= a good player or A strong Power shatter= relatively low skilled opponent.
It’s one of the few builds in wich the player has to do most of the work. Where the player has to rotate better then his opponents and know the maps better to kite since figthing on point is incredibly hard.
Good points if you refer to the meta build and I completely agree about the skill floor and knowledge needed to play the class effectively.

I bet OP plays a Condition chronomancer with staff and scepter/torch.
I don’t see anyone running away unless it’s from that build which most people know by now to never engage.

B2P doesn’t mean you get a name etched in stone forever… It means you can load up and play whenever.
Unfortunately there are tons of names in limbo on accounts that haven’t logged in for a long long time…
Name purges have been common among mmos so it will be ok.
From experience… Sometimes real life things happen, coming back to a game to have your name wiped is an instant “kitten this” and never play again….
I’m positive that Anet wants players who return to the game to have incentives to stay with the game, not reasons to uninstall.
Back in my day, you had to farm for 75 ectos and be rank 5 Deldrimor to be able to afford those.

Or if Re-link happens, give players who transferred in this time a choice to play on linked servers, so say if you came to DR, after re-link you could chose DR or Mag.

D/D is already strong, not META because it requires you to learn your rotations and combos but still very strong.
@Wolfric: “I would like to play arcane again” – Try a burn variant, on D/D. Fire runes + Arcane Power. Water top mid top – Arc top bot mid – Temp bot mid bot…. That’s going off memory tho, need those on hit condi crit applications lol.

I like diversity and dislike feeling forced into certain aspects. It reminds me of Cele + Ele.
I personally, prefer this new system over the old system. The only other option I could think of them doing, which is something everyone would rage against… it to delete the lower pop servers and force those players on the lesser populated servers.
I wouldn’t object to this if it’s across the board. Delete 12 servers, rename the remaining 12 and force everyone to reselect a Home World.
Not a bad idea since so many guilds are now cross server, they could all pick a server to be on as a guild and have some guild pride in guild wars.

Before you say something like “just cuz mes countered you” or something stupid like that, I have 4 Mesmers and have played class since beta.
Warrior uses merc, rev does too, guards, some Eles with arcane traits, seen a few evasion thiefs running it too and the trap ranger has been a pain in the kitten especially with a longbow and that vine crap.
The amulet itself is so strong there is no point in using other Amulets which doesn’t promote diversity at all.
Ok but if merchenary had to go , also paladin have to go, and i am a paladin user . It has the same issues of Mercenary …. damage and no risk ….

To be honest I thought the issue was because it offers both high power pressure and high condition pressure while maintaining decent defensive capabilities, not because it had toughness and vitality.
A Sage Amulet….. I’m on the wire about that one as it’s heals are only somewhat selective depending on class and don’t provide an advantage against both forms of damage sources.
Toughness negates power, vitality provides more ticks against conditions while heals are somewhat limited to class/build.
I think OP is in the situation I’m in….
I spent so long in PvP and roaming T1 before merger that I forgot how to fight people on my own. killing NPC’s at camps while avoiding massive blobs produced barely any fights which in turn decayed my skill levels… I transferred to Mag for the fights and to improve my skills but turns out I’m still a pro at dying and running away…… For now

I don’t get how the PvP NPCS are able to stomp themselves when they get downed…
I also don’t get how they can get up from being downed to stomp someone who is down before it kills them.
I think it’s great that there are enemies now on the borderlands…
they can defend a camp or a sentry or a tower or a yak as long as there are players on the map to fight against I don’t care what that they do or where they are.
The beauty of Alpine too is being able to see enemies to engage with in the first place, DBL made it impossible to find people and if you did it was because they were across a canyon that would take 5 mins to cross…
I roam all the time and I’m not even good lol got too used to fighting NPC’s… But the fights now <3
As far as I’m concerned they are achievements no different to a PvE player wearing his fancy titles and fancy gear with shiny legendaries leaving unnecessary particle effects everywhere.

Now the queues to borderlands can actually be longer than the queue to EB.
No ques on borderlands since HoT release – EB has 80 man Q.
Bring Alpine back: Ques on 2/3 borderlands, EB is empty.
The map is not outdated… It’s exactly what we need, open fields with open field fights, no map gimmicks to get in the way and no mazes to navigate to get to places.
Either way, it says a lot that before map switch the EB q was 70+ with empty borderlands but now the borderlands are qued while EB is mostly empty….
So with a map rotation system, stability fixes, balanced population, reward system, new scoring system and GvG support I’ll probably reinstall the game.
Seems you’re on the right track there besides for GvG support where nothing ever happens.

Here’s a MUCH better idea, that was stated countless times by countless people. Make the cities server based again. Then guilds could recruit people from their actual servers again, and servers could actually call in for backup again, and WvW could get influxes of new players again.
Or just LA would be nice, it’s a really laggy city anyway.
Reaper isn’t dead, just appears that way because people are intent on low risk high reward builds that generally rely on passives to carry them.
Mutaatti appears to be a player who played Necro before and after the bandwagon, he’s giving hints at other builds that pugs like us could use… My guess is something like this when he mentioned “team fight” build but I could be wrong, there are still a few viable builds left to choose from.

I have 5 Elementalists and 4 Guardians because they ARE the most versatile classes and I can use almost all the utilities depending on the build I’m aiming for in the game mode I’m playing (WvW/PvP)
I’d be more concerned for Warrior and Thief… But that’s my personal opinion because I don’t play those classes much and I feel forced into certain builds/traits and weapons just to be able to do anything. (more experienced players with these classes would be able to tell me otherwise)
I play only Guardian and I tested many builds in every aspect, as well as studied other professions to compare certain things.
You must have enormous luck to find yourself in encounters that make you think that almost every Guardian utility is working just fine.
I know that in WvW Guard is doing pretty well, but I’d be eager to see how you run raid with different utilities other than meta, or how well Spirit Weapons/
Shouts/Consecrations/Signets might work out in a pvp match in your hands.
No sarcasm, I am actually wondering. I find most of the Guardian’s playerbase to be dissatisfied with the current state of this profession.
Though people say that for every rule there is an exception
Consecrations are more burns, condi removal and projectile reflects… I found a Merc Amulet to go well with consecrations. (sanctuary only good for rez/stomps)
Spirit weapons – again this is a Merc Amulet build but you need to be using burns. (the sword is useless, but the bow and hammer serve well)
Shouts work really well with a clerics build combined with the extra vitality trait, running mace/shield. It can be your downfall when facing 2 necro or more due to boon corruption so you have to play smart and time which boons are applied. (refer to pics below, 1000 boons applied, 500k healing, 18 kills)
Can’t say much about signants except every class has a set of abilities that are not as great as the rest.
I am not unhappy with guard, I think it’s a fantastic class and it’s in a good spot right now. It offers different sorts of play styles, some harder to play than others to be just as effective but it’s worth the pay off when “skilled enemies” expect you to be meta and use meta combo wombos.
I’m not in the “Pro” league like the rest of the forum base but I do enjoy what get’s me a win in my “baddie” league.

I’ll have to disagree on arcane skills. You’re arguing from a point of ‘defensive’ utilities, which is TOTALLY NOT what arcane skills are all about. And no, arcane skills are not meant for raw damage either.

Sorry, I assumed too much about your Ele knowledge. So let me clarify that for you.
It’s 1 stack of burn, or 1s of immob. The lowest cooldown Arcane skill is 16s. Do you really think you would ever take a grand master trait that gives you a 1s immob every 16s? Not counting that you have to manage your attunement cooldown so you land in Earth every 16s.
What if you combined that with Magnetic Aura shout and Earth Dagger 3 or staff 5 with an earth overload and some Arcane power?
Pretty sure you can pulsate 12s or more of immobilise with that combination…

They can easily get in guilds.
For 1g they would just make their own 1 man guild.
Would the next step be to block all players unless they are in a 100+ member guild? Would that 100+ member guild all have to sign an agreement to actively present themselves on the field each day?
How would this work? How would there be enemies or players? Would it be limited to roaming guilds? Would it be limited to bigger guilds? What would be the point of a single guild on 1 server when multiple guilds are needed to upgrade and buff structures like SM and Keep, would it all be owned by one guild and then upgrades limited to how much a WvW guild was able to PvE for guild upgrades?
I use blast gyro for:
Superspeed heals + AoE Stunbreak from Toolbelt.
Activating traps on points.
Decapping.
Blowing up people who are trying to rez.
On Thieves.
On anyone on Foefire charging at me.
On an Enemy Stealth Gyro to separate it from the user.
On anyone chasing me while I try to refresh.
If I’m charging into 2 people or more I like to use it on a wall, without something to track it follows you like a bomb so if you charge onto point with it against a small group you blow everyone off point.

I don’t believe in this night capper crap and I don’t think it will be fair for OCX players BUT if people are going to crash on this topic over and over and over and over again I might aswell join in and give a solution I think might help all who play WvW and want their contribution to count the same as others.
It’s not my idea, I read it about 2 years ago and always thought it was a great idea.
Make WvW into 3 time blocks that resets every 8 hours then distribute points accordingly.
EG:
1st 8 hours;
Server A – 8,953
Server B – 7,400
Server C – 1,400
When it ends:
Server A – 3 Points
Server B – 2 Points
Server C – 1 point
Next 8 hours the score resets back to 0.
Same scoring system again, winner takes 3 points, loser takes 1 point.
At the end of each match up for the week, the winner is decided by who has the most points.
A system like this might prevent run away matches and might be able to give the losing server a chance to recover after the weekend rush, it might also help with this whole “my points are worth more because it’s prime time” rubbish.

No to open world (cities) dueling.
The game has provided a space for dueling; no need for others.
PvP has PvP gear, I’m not in a big guild, only 7 of us lol so we don’t even have a guild arena and in WvW i’m only limited to what’s available across 2 servers.
Is the OS a megaserver? could duel there? Or is there an Arena somewhere in Orr that allows duels? Or an instance somewhere?
I’m bad when it comes to PvE stuff so I wouldn’t know if there was a viable option out there available to everyone but if you could point me in that direction that would be awsome thanks
