As our artists have also said in interviews that one of the purposes of concept art is that it is a way to convey mood to a viewer and to serve as inspiration for designers. Concept art is not necessarily a blueprint to follow by rote. There is stuff in the game that looks like the concept art, but just because something is depicted in the concept art doesn’t necessarily follow that it will make it into the game.

Can you explain as to why Anet insist on not having mounts? I seriously don’t understand what’s so terrible about it. Sure you skip content by using mount but if you can make a big game like guild wars 2, I’m pretty sure you can make mounts only usable for people who has completed 100% world completion.
After all, if we’ve already completed and visit the entire world once, the next time should be easier, right?
Plus, what do you do with gift of exploration anyway if you aren’t going to craft Legendary weapons?

I would be interested to see Arenanet’s data on the usage of Spirit Weapons. I bet nobody ever uses them. I firmly believe that all 4 should be replaced with useful skills and that as they stand they are pointless filler.

It pretty much rips all other builds to shreds (pre-patch) as not many people can avoid 2 spirit weapon that cause burning and knockdown + knock back with doubled durations. Seriously if you try the build in pvp now you can see a glimpse of what it was like back in the days.

Some karma jug, which you used to either make legendary or buy exotics. All appearals.
Some mystic coins, which you used to make legendary or exotic. All appearals and can be earned without dailies.
Laurel, which allows you to buy stuff that is 80 % appearal, and 19 % of the non-appearals can be bought with other currencies.
The one amulet that is limited to laurel you don’t really need it to compete.
Gold, which you use to buy appearals.
Honestly, how does ANYONE take dailies and monthlies seriously I have no idea. It’s a useless function and if you already have achievements I really don’t understand what its for, other than making people rage. (and play the game via the boring, grindy way)
Might as well remove it and save us all the breath wasted on debating about it.

All mmos forums are full of ridiculous senseless whiners, specially on the genral discussion section…. How can you possibly complain about a very small task for a monthly achievement.
Because while some people don’t mind all the content, others don’t like doing certain parts of the game, ie dungeons, W3, World Events, etc. Having a daily that can be done while doing any of these is great, but with how the monthly is set up now, people have to do parts of the game that they don’t want to do. It’s a legitimate complaint in regards to dailies/monthly. It’s only “crying” or “whining” to those who don’t mind doing it and can’t see past their little bubble and realize “Oh yeah, I can see their point, I wouldn’t want to have to do dungeons/W3/World Events (insert whatever) to complete a daily/monthly.”
It’s kinda ironic that you say people refuse to see from their point of view when you’re refusing to see it from the point of view of the others.
Lemme explain this to you. There are 3 different kind of people here on this forum:
1 : whiners who doesn’t want to do some dailies and are whining about them on forums.
2: People who don’t mind doing it and tell the whiners they don’t have to do it if they don’t want to…which is true.
3: People who doesn’t want to do some dailies, just like the whiners, but instead of whining they simply ignore the dailies altogether and do things they enjoy find it perfectly livable. They, in their spare time, decide to second the people from the 2nd category, telling the whiners it doesn’t have to be like that.
honest to god I can’t remember the last time I did a daily for the sake if doing it. I just did whatever I wanted and the dailies ended up getting completed. I never needed any reward from the daily to get my full exotic. I never needed daily to do anything in the game.
On the contrary, attempting to change the daily will never solves the problem because no one plays the game the same way so why bother?
Plus, they’re already introducing optional dailies + rotation.

They already did give a clear and precise statement that in the Reddit AMA right after the introduction of Ascended gear, but people tend to ignore these statement.
That agony resistance gear treadmill is for people who ENJOY a treadmill. Those players have a right to get some love from ANet, too. So, yes, I agree that ANet will give them another occasional treadmill in the future. Just as they occasionally release content for PvEers, for WvWers, for sPvPers, daisy pluckers, and so on. That’s just the way ANet wants their game to be, so we better get used to it (or play something different).
However, from all we know, and given all that content ANet has released since launch, I really cannot understand that people still come to the conclusion that, suddenly, ANet would start to ignore all of their customers beside “small customer group X” and only release content for that particular group in the future, when they can make much more money if they would’t.

Simply move on and try to live your life the best you can has always been the solution.
-Join a guild and get in goods with people
-Nag guildie for mats / farm yourself (takes twice as long if you wanna do it on your own, but that would be dumb as you don’t have to be. Plenty of current legendary holders were supported by their guilds)
-Have guildie portal you for jumping puzzle medals
-Save up all your jug of liquid karma and get a lot of karma booster (1 or 2 week worth + monthly)
Drop orichalcum recipe into forge
nag guildie for mats some more
Get lucky with Precursor / save up / borrow money from friend (I’ve seen people dropping 4 yellow into forge and get a dusk. Now does this happens often? No. But it does happen.)
farm some more if you happen to not get enough magic clover
Realistically speaking you should be able to get one within 1~2 month. (twice as long if you are doing it on your own)
Now the time it takes really wouldn’t be that long – the problem is getting there. Plenty of people have given up before they even start (myself included) not because the list of requirements is ridiculous, but because getting them is boring as hell.
It’s the same 6 month back. It’ll be the same 6 month from now on unless they specifically patch it to require less mats.

Guild wars 2 should release an expansion contain purely of jumping puzzles. Honestly this is probably one of the game’s greatest saving grace.

The people using “forced” or “mandatory” are using the terms in their technical and contextual sense. When you choose vertical progression to give players a sense of progression you are instituting a non-optional gear grind. The stat variance of the initial pieces is irrelevant to the issue. Vertical progression progresses. You either chase the stats or slowly become unable to play the game.
Then we should just remove the dailies and get it over with.
No more people getting tricked into thinking that they were forced.
No more whining about having to do boring stuff.
At this point removing daily and monthly seem to me the ideal solution, and for the love of me I don’t even know why it’s there in the first place.

Tbh Spirit weapon WAS kinda overpowered in sPvP solo. You can’t damage them. Spec into eternal + burning + 100% burn on block (or Aoe Justice burn ) you’re basically producing an endless flaming apocalypse that refuse to go away for a good ten twenty second. Did i I mention 2 active knock downs and continuous knock back from the hammer?
All in all i understand why the nerf happened.
I just wasn’t expecting it to get nerfed so severely. Now the spirits weapon barely makes it pass 10 seconds. Spirit weapon build is kinda hardcore now, and not in a good way.

All i ever do is pvp all day. Do I complain about not having enough pvp related daily? No. Because I understand what dailies are meant to do : Anytime I decide I’m too bored to pvp anymore the dailies are there, giving ideas and rewards as to what to do.
Do I have to do them? No.
Do I do them all? No. I hate pve that much.
Do I find them chores? No.
Why not? Because I didn’t do them – instead I just do what I want and play how I like, and I’m never ever punished for it. Once or twice I finished a few mob killing ones. I did them when I’m bored of pvping and I’m happy to say they provided adequate distraction.
As for saying everything in a game is supposed to be fun, that’s pure utopia. name a game that is 100% fun, and I can guarantee you there will be someone who doesn’t like it.

but this kinda validates my point. gaming shouldnt be about doing your chores before being able to have fun. maybe this is coming from folk who are under the control of parents etc that make them do some chores before being allowed to game. So they accept it.

Fair enough. In your case it probably would be better to remove the daily entirely because you’re under the impression that Daily is the game – not the act of doing daily themselves.
Anet is trying to encourage different type of plays with their daily rotation. Pvpers who dislike anything pve will have incentive to go out and kill stuff ( then come on forum to complain about daily), just as pve player now has incentive to pvp.
Daily is not the game. To complete your daily is not the goal of your play – having fun is. If for any reason you feel like a certain daily ain’t worth your time you can and should just stop doing them. You are never obliged to finish dailies, nor do you need to as you can obtain max gear in this game quickly enough and every reward after you get exotic/ascended is pretty superficial imo. The dailys are only there so people will go out of their way to try different things.
Daily is not a chore and shouldn’t be. Daily is " hey you get this if you do this". You don’t get penalty for not doing them and they reset everyday. You can do the ones you like and leave the ones you hate. Dislike everything? don’t do em.
And since dailies apparently “forces” (massive quotation marks there) SOME people out of their preferred style of play, naturally people thought they’re boring.
Really, if today Anet make new dailies tailored to your needs, others will be crying about it just like you are because it’s “forcing” them to play according to your playstyle – so really no adjustment will ever please everyone.

yeah its true.
i was waiting for those earth elementals to spawn so i could kill them in 2-3 swings of GS.i was letting the refugees get hurt so i could heal them because if i defend them they will succeed everytime.
i was repairing post signs, but then realize they suddenly stop, so i didnt get to see where the refugees come from (but thats probably later in the story).
all in all, i didnt feel heroic.
my head couldnt create a cool story with that.
there was also a flame legion camp near the road.
i stormed it. stayed in the center, pulled everybody and spin to win.
spit on the corpses, took a few trinkets, copper pieces, and went back to check if the elementals had spawn back.im all for the open world stuff, but unfortunately it doesnt cut it as endgame.
instead the prelude could have been an instanced mini area/dungeon in which everybody is pumped to 80 (a mini fractal).and it would have been better imo.
true story.
how are you supposed to feel heroic when the event re trigger every 20 minute?
Peasant : Help ! There’s a giant attacking our town!
Hero : *kills the giant *
Peasant : oh thank you, kind sir ! you are a true hero!
Hero : no worries, mate. I’m just a good Samaritan passing by. So long!
(comes back 10 minute later and found the town in ruin.)

I think it’s funny to see Anet trying to get us to do an obscene amount of things for 1 reward. Someone in that company needs to learn the balance between labor and gain.

Some form of speed increase is pretty much mandatory for my characters.
My thief and ranger both always use the signets.
On my warrior for my general use build I have +20% swiftness duration from two runes of the pack, +20% boon duration from 20 points in tactics and +20% boon duration from omnomberry cream food just so I can have perma Signet Of Rage swiftness when doing open world stuff. Can’t stand to play him without it.
If I couldn’t obtain some form of permanent speed increase and was stuck to anets default turtle speed I just wouldn’t bother playing. It’s that infuriating.

100b isn’t even that good, any half decent player has learned to counter/dodge that ages a go.
You can totally see it coming and prevent it unlike other spike damage, say mug+cnd+backstab, or a ranged stun then spike from a mesmer.
Not when you’re already engaged. That’s pretty much the entire point of the post…OP is tired of playing like a thief, waiting for someone to start engaging and jump them unsuspected.
I say nerf 100b and buff survive so they can go up front and tangle like a true warrior.
Except there’s no need to because we only ever get 5 utility and we have like 25 of them. Utility slot is precious – we know that without the signet. The handicap/sacrifice is completely unnecessary, and gaining 1 more skill that isn’t essentially useless in combat – save for the 5 sec blind if you call that useful – can also give player more rotation possibilities.
SoS is not a special case. Every single skill you equip is at the cost of another skill. SoS is no different. I personally have 6 skills, not healing or Elite, that I want to have equipped, and SoS is not one of them. I have to pick my skills at the cost of all the others I want.
SoS is nice to have, but it is far from necessary. Do you want speed, or a teleport? A teleport or a pull? A pull or a stealth? A stealth or something more offensive?
Anything is better than SoS.
But I’m not just talking about soS only.
All signet/skills with passive speed buff should go.
It’s a skill that’s useful out of combat, but it’s hardly worth getting for combat and if combat finds you with SoS/ other Passive speed on you have 1 less utility to work with.
True your build wont be broken without it – that’s the point. It’s a useless skill for combat. Why not have something that you can get a kick out of instead of something you use only to get around?
Why do this, when you can get cool mounts that dismount you when engaged?

You don’t even understand exactly what make 100b so deadly.
It’s not the damage. It’s the stun and haste that comes before. SoMI see a thief backstabs me for 6k I drop a block/blind/whatever that stops him and that thief’s a goner. He can’t dodge, he stealth for like 3 second, and he has absolutely no survivability.
I see a warrior using 100b, I can’t, most probably because I’ve already used my stun break. Even if I haven’t used my stun break that’s 1 skill I have to use before I can use another to stop the actual 100b —- hasted. Meaning harder to move out of.
With thief, I’ll just have to stop the actual attack and it’d be enough.
You want warrior to not hit and run, sure. I want the same thing. Every warrior is 100b these days.

Anwyay, you’re right, I did say that. But now that you mentioned “compromisation” I personally would give up the high end burst of 100b for more control and survivability with immunities. This would make a warrior more of a warrior instead of a melee glass cannon lol. I just think it’s silly. The playstyle literally only works in pugs or free tournaments. once you go into paid, the game is VERY different. When playing against top teams, if you try your stun and 100b, you’re going to die verrrrry fast.
Now we are talking constructively. Yes that would indeed make warrior more like a warrior and it’s something I’ve been opting for. Buff survive, nerf 100b.
But some warrior cling on to it like its their last ray of hopes, so you get a bunch of people asking for more viable warrior playstyle other than 100b, and all chickening out to defend their 100b build when someone askes for a 100b nerf.
Honestly, if they’re so sick of 100b why are they all wetting themselves when someone suggest a nerf? I think everyone knows the answer.
They just want their class buffed so they get more toys to blast people with.

Warrior needs more viable playstle than just 100b rush.
Imo We can start by reducing the damage they do with 100b ( or longer cd ) and buff the survivability of gs/som builds. (give debuff removers)
This way we get less cheese warrior and more people willing to try other builds. And then we can buff other warrior builds from there so people actually have a choice with warriors.

Other builds need a buff, the only concern is that in buffing other weapons/builds they dont somehow allow for a combo w the existing 100b spec to become OP.
If 100b doesn’t get nerfed – no matter how slightly – even if you do buff other builds ( unless to the same calibre as 100b build where you still get a decent burst while becoming more survivable.) people will be more inclined to play 100b build (newb at least). Why press several buttons to kill someone when you can press 3?

PS. I thought you want other builds buff because you only got 100b to play with? if you’re so sick of 100b why do you go into defensive mode when people ask for 100b nerf, especially when you’re getting what you want : that is buff to other warrior builds? Something ain’t right here….
