I would like to see forced wp after 1 min of not being rezzed at cost with an addendum. If you are forced to wp you are shunted to another shard and lose credit for participating in the event. This would solve the tag and afk mentality of a lot of these event farmers who leech off the population actually trying to complete it.

i think your kind of player is the exact problem here, if someone has to wait more then 1 minute for someone to res then guess who is really the problem here.
death happens, just because someone died and waits for someone to res doesn’t make them a leech, don’t think so negative about ppl and start ressing if it bothers you so much.

if anything, they should make breathers global with an adaptive armor stat.
i think that’s better because then we only need one crafting station that actually makes sense, IMO leatherwork is the best fitting because cloth isn’t waterproof and i don’t think you want a heavy steel casing on your face underwater.

Surprisingly I didn’t find many of them to bad, but the worst one is by far the Silverwastes JP. By far the worst and hardest JP in the game, to make make it even worse almost all of the golden lost badges are located in there. The challenge was interesting enough, but never again. I can’t imagine how much gold I must have wasted porting back to a WP to try over.

of all the JP’s, it’s the only one that is actually a challenge to do and doesn’t have any traps or enemies in between, the one thing that removes the fun of a JP are enemies in between.
it’s a puzzle, not a battleground.

Traits Part 2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

what about a tier system that barely has any traits at all and only has the so called “global” traits, the current traits are based on some weapons, the new specialization system could actually be based on one trait for a whole line of skills.
something like a trait that focuses on AoE range, not just the small group of skills but every AoE skill you need to place on the ground.

for the necro this would mean that this one trait will make both all marks and all wells have more AoE range, they can always limit this with having a choice of ether AoE range or more damage.

they wanted to simplify this, that’s how it’s done properly.
they will all be unlocked from point one tho, no need to over-complicate a system that already has less traits to go for.

Cloth nodes - Why not in-game?

it’s a good trade off, cloth clothing is quite expensive even when crafted (i just have to get the TP up and ask globally for armor, the first page is practically heavy/leather-only)
add plants all around the world for cloth materials, we can easily get ore from the world in 3 ways and leather is not used as much as cloth. (leather even drops 3X more then cloth…….got enough frustrating times because of that >_< )

it can just as much be in an arena, that’s a form.

Well, the PoI showcased a fair amount of basic gliding, and mentioned updrafts, which will be available at the PAX East demos.

The endurance they showcased lasted about 10 seconds. These are after some Mastery abilities were unlocked (such as longer endurance, maybe). Also to note: as you fall after endurance runs out, you regenerate endurance, allowing you to pop your glider again as you fall.

seen that before, got enough endurance but not until i die falling, the reason why endurance with gliders are a horrible idea.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

sorudo.9054

Sure. They can add more PvE options but they should be on the more difficult scale as daily achievements go. People want more option? Okay. But they should not be ones that you can passively complete.

why, are you afraid you can’t show how l33t you are showing of daily completions?

the early ones were perfectly fine for PvE, the current ones are garbage.

You have the daily login reward system to be rewarded for hardly doing anything other than logging on once a day. They are trying to get people to break out of their routines and do things that they normally wouldn’t do. The daily system is doing just that for many people as evident by several posts by people in the forums and the chat within the game.

The daily system is not there to reward you for playing however you want. I’ve looked at daily systems in several games, including GW1 which this game is based off of, and none of them were passive “quests”. They were all specific.

firstly, there is no system in heaven or hell that Anet can add to get me anywhere near PvP, so that’s already failing there.
secondly, GW1 has more specific things but you don’t have to pay for traveling, some are even done within a few seconds if done right. (zen dajiun vanquish for instance)
in GW2 however, traveling already costs enough, let alone the part where you have no choice in the matter and you can’t save a daily for later use. (so you can get 3 of your favorites done when you have time)
also, in GW1 you have a choice of 3 kinds of things (quest, mission and bounty), in GW2 the choice is made by the game so something like 2X fracture dailies ruins this.

like i said, the previous system was fine the way it was for PvE, there is absolutely no reason to change it all of a sudden.
as said often enough, no point on fixing when there is nothing to fix.

That is your choice if you choice to limit your options by not doing PvP. You’re not being forced here.

If WP costs are an issue here then I really question how you’re playing. Unless you’re constantly porting all over the place without doing anything, you won’t suffer a loss. Even if you suffered a net loss through completing just the dailies, you’ll easily make it back within a matter of minutes doing almost anything in the game. WP costs are minuscule.

Yes, some GW vanquishes could be completed in minutes as the enemy count is influenced by various factors. These were only a handful across how many zones? Quite a lot. The breakdown type in GW1 doesn’t matter but since you brought it up. You listed three types in GW1. Well GW2 has three as well. Care to guess what they are?

again, firstly i don’t choose to limit my self, I HATE PVP.
clear enough for you….?
and again, secondly, the waypoint cost isn’t the point….i literally facepalmed this because it’s just to stupid to argue to you with such stupid comments.

oh and yeah, the three are 2X PvE and 1X PvP which you can SAVE EVERY DAY TO UP TO 3 QUESTS PER CATEGORY.

…..i am getting a headache because of this, do ppl even think or am i the only one using this grey mass in my head…..

would you like PVP in PVE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

sorudo.9054

Thats not exciting. That’s stressful. Do we really need to go over the vast number of people that don’t even get map completion because it involves going onto a map where they could potentially be “ganked”? They literally don’t want that so they stay out of the game mode it can happen in. Its not fun for them. It would be less fun if they were trying to do a JP and some tool comes out of stealth and kills them right before they finish it or hammers them from the top before they could open the chest. That isn’t thrilling and that would probably lead to the single largest decline in players GW2 has if they ever implemented that. Now if servers meant anything anymore and they wanted to make a server a PvP server where that could happen, then by all means, have at it. I’d love to see its actual population as compared to the others.

And therefore adds nothing. And hes right, tons of players wont ever get map completion because of WvW.

However, if you read the OP he does not suggest Open world PVP he suggests dueling areas added to the world, or in their own zones that would serve as pvp zones if you entered them. Not full map PVP, not open world PVP, but small areas in zones that serve as PVP dueling zones.

he just stated it does add something to pve, you may view it as stress, another exciting, but that still adds something to the experience.

and just because you have a whole bunch of pansies who are so afraid to get killed by another person while trying to get map completion doesnt mean you should cater to them. its not hard at all to get the wvw maps, it might take a few weeks of waiting for colors to switch. but really even at peak hours its not like everywhere you go is a zerg foaming at the mouth waiting for you.

i know full well what the OP stated, the convo has been going many ways. my comment about people who dont read the posts are aimed at people like Mojo Gris Gris above me.

and THIS is what i am talking about ppl, players who already like PvP constantly talking as if everyone has to play PvP.
when do ppl stop talking like they know what other players want and start thinking of other’s wishes, is it so hard to think for someone else’s sake?

no PvP in PvE is a no, what part of no is so confusing, the N or the O?

firefall doesn’t even have a glider endurance bar yet it works perfectly, i see no reason to add an endurance bar except to limit the players reaching further then intended.
then again, if they fear that, don’t add gliders in the first place.

People will always find creative uses of the glider, even with an endurance bar, and I don’t think ANet would be opposed to it. Breaking out of maps isn’t intended, but people do it and get away with it.

my point exactly, ppl will always find a way so adding such a bar has no use.

you have to realize that you can’t really fly, you go down slowly and never go up, all it does is enable players to glide down further without falling to your death.

Actually …

Gliding has many forms. Straight downward gliding assumes certain conditions and the type of glider used. You CAN actually “glide” upward if you can generate enough Lift to overcome your weight, and you do so by making use of air currents (if you’re gliding in a windy area, it’s entirely possible). This also has a fair bit to do with glider design, lift-to-drag ratios, etc, the basics of which can be simulated in a game. HoT will have wind currents as parts of its mastery, and DOES showcase flying upwards (ArenaNet’s trailers tend to be very similar to in-game footage, the only real difference is that some skills are one-shots whereas in game, it takes a lot more than one hit). If you have a powered glider which can produce a certain amount of thrust, then it can definitely fly upwards.

The gliding in Aion was straight downwards, but there were some clever tricks people used to gain a bit of height. Not a lot, but enough to glide slightly further.

if gliding works like firefall then you can’t get up, only down.
you are able to angle the gliding to a point that you can fly longer but when you go to high the game simply sends you straight down again, sort of like a punishment system when you try it anyway. (well, not straight down but in an eagle diving angle)

sorudo.9054

Okay so, I think we have made it clear that nobody here is seriously asking for open-world, free for all PvP. (And if you are, then you aren’t really contributing to the thread much.)

What is getting asked for is a PvP arena type area.
Okay… I get that.
What I don’t get is why the Heart of the Mists… a part of the game that has been set up /specifically/ just for this… is being ignored and dismissed out of hand.

Convenience?
HotM is one click away from anywhere in the game world. At worst, a newly minted character might have to run to Lion’s Arch and use the portal there. Easy, since every racial city that you start right outside of has a way to get to Lion’s Arch.

Lack of PvP modes?
If you have your own sPvP arena, who is forcing you to capture the control points rather then duel to your hearts content? Hell, the Courtyard doesn’t even have control points to bother with.

The only argument I am seeing that holds any real weight is the inability in sPvP to keep your Gear Stats/Runes/Sigils/Food Buffs/etc.
sPvP is designed to even the playing field for everyone, regardless of all that. And while I personally think that’s a good thing… if people really want a ‘Fight Club’ mode where you keep your Gear/Runes/Sigils/Food Buffs/etc, then why not propose such an option to be added in the Mists?

Why /must/ this sort of thing be implemented in a PvE zone?

i have asked this very question in every single thread about PvP in PvE but ppl just like to force crap on PvE players.

i never ever force PvE on players who simply don’t like PvE, i have no right to just say “play PvE for a bit” while they specifically say they don’t like it.
however, the PvP crowd doesn’t get the other way around, why would i ever play PvP if i don’t even want to get near it?
it’s really simple, PvP belongs where PvP is, PvE should NEVER be touched by the PvP-only crown.

saying this in general (so not directly pointed at quoted), if i don’t like PvP of any kind, don’t force it on me.
and i am certainly not the only one, if you like PvP then fine but don’t just say “i want duels in PvE area’s” and expect everyone the agree.
no is no, period.

Signature Weapons for each Profession

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

While a fun to think about premise, this is an incredibly bad idea in practice. Having single class weapons would result in major additional development costs for the art team because that would effectively double the number of different weapons they have to make skins for.

As it is each weapon currently is unique for each profession and weapons server no normal attack purpose to otherwise differentiate themselves. So having unique weapons would add very little to the game.

how many profs can use a longbow?
2 professions
how many profs can use the short bow?
again, 2 professions.

what is a waste of dev time again?
oh and btw, the new specialization has the exact same effect as new weapons, they still need their own unique skills just as a new weapon would need.

100% Map completition for Legendarys

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

So u guys and Anet considers PvE as Map completition with each char. Sry but this is for me and most players just a pain. And needs to be changed.

You don’t NEED a legendary, therefore the conditions to get one don’t NEED to change.

If you WANT a legendary, then WORK for it.

i have a job for that thank you very much, a game is there to enjoy and relax when i have some time off.
if you so much want to WORK, go and get a job but don’t be so “you can’t have this because bla bla bla” when you KNOW there are plenty of ppl who do NOT have the time to work for something like that.

To sum this up, you want everything in the game available if you want it, but you don’t want to have to invest time to get it? Why do you even play an MMO? Do you demand to get a short summary of a film so you don’t have to watch it? Read only the first and last chapter of a book because you don’t have time to read the rest? I’m pretty sure you don’t, because you enjoy doing these things, so why is GW2 not enjoyable for you if you can’t get all the shinies?
It sucks if you have to work kittenty hours, but it does not mean the legendary recipes should be changed to make the weapons super-easy to get. That’s what other skins are for. A legendary is called that because it’s (supposed to be, anyway) rare. You don’t need it to enjoy the game and relax while playing it. You sound like a spoiled child who saw a fancy toy and wants it right now, or else you’ll throw a tantrum. Guess what? Lots of us have jobs and legendaries, and we haven’t bought them off the TP with cash->gold. It took me months to gather all the mats, and that’s with farming, but I got it. And I was proud, even if everyone and their dog had a legendary at this point. Why? Because I’m not a mad gold farmer, not a powergamer, but I still got my shiny bow. It just took a while.
If I had just been able to farm some gold for a week or two and buy it, I wouldn’t have been so proud. It wouldn’t have been an accomplishment. Two nights ago, I decided on a whim to toss some mats I had collected and not sold in a while into the MF and get the Anomaly. That’s also nice, but nowhere near as good a feeling as getting Kudzu was.
If legendaries weren’t such a pain to get (for most folks who don’t get precursor drops left and right), they wouldn’t be as nice to have.
If you work so much that your gaming time is rather short, then that’s a sad fact of life. it does not entitle you to just getting anything you want because “it’s not fun to work for it”. It can be fun. Doesn’t have to be, though, and if it’s not fun for you, don’t do it, but don’t complain that you don’t get the reward for an effort you didn’t want to put into this game. Any game, really. Any_thing_.

…talk about taking it way to far, all i am saying is that i don’t want to WORK for it.
i never ever said i should not do something big to get a legendary, 100% map completion on PvE-only maps is still good but since i can’t stand even a single bit of PvP i would never play WvW, even if it’s just for a little while.

effort within fun=good
effort within work=not good

3. after a sure amount of times X item not dropping, the drop is guaranteed for the next Y amount.

to explain this, precursors are extremely rare so they could drop 1:1.000.000 exotics, when it still doesn’t drop within the lines, it will drop within the next 500 exotic drops.
something more simple like a black lion key could have a drop scale of 1:40.000 black lion chests, if it still doesn’t drop within the lines it will drop within the next 50 black lion chests.

so in the end, the rarity is still there but after a while the game will take over the drop rate to a much more aggressive degree.

disclaimer: all drop rate examples are not a suggestion, it’s only to point out how the system works

personally, i would not even make a new character unless they ether change the trait system so much it’s no brainer easy to use or if they add a retrain profession token, with the later it makes me able to simply use a grandfathered character so trait unlock doesn’t exist anymore for me.

Losing your level number in HoT...

then answer me this, how can i see how many mastery points someone has earned when about 95% of the game downscales everyone, changing the level of everyone in the area?
it can only display one thing, it makes no sense to hide someone’s level when they get downscaled to a much lower level.

Will HoT include LS2?

easy fix ppl, have a special edition that gives you some nice in-game stuff and all S2LS chapters.

But that sounds like it would cost more. The whole idea is to help out people that want to buy the expansion, not the expansion + LS2. They could buy LS2 right now if they could afford that.

if they get the expansion + LS2 cheaper then what it costs to buy the LS chapters on it’s own then it will actually attract players that way, you still pay more then the basic price of the expansion but it’s cheaper for total new players.

they can make a new threat all they like, as long as we know nothing about specialization it changes nothing and we have nothing to discuss.

Character Creation Options You Want

part 2:

  • eye detail: changing the pupil and allot more eye colors.
  • multiple hair colors: being able to use more then one tone of colors in any hair style, new or old.
  • hair length control: being able to adjust the length of any hair style. (within reason)
  • animation control: being able to choose how you run/walk to match the age/style of your character. (like a more assassin style run or an old wizard-like walk, it can even extent to current and straight up standing charrs)
  • voice choice per age: to make voice per race makes it really stressful but at least have 3 different voices by age, a character designed to be an old man should sound like that and it’s the same for an older girl. (around 14-16 years old)
    that’s it for now.

they said they would redesign old maps in one way or another, i think the ones who would own HoT would be able to reach things you can only get to with gliders, including on old maps.

How to make gold?

Do some mining, collect gold ores then smelt them into gold coins = profit

if only that would actually work, i would farm the hell out of gold nodes….

it would be better if the key’s dropped more often, it’s pretty much a drop rate of 10.000/1 compared to key’s….

for one, i would like to customize my character’s body, not just the face.
ESO, rift, AION, BDO, all examples how it can be done.

i would also like to add scars, make-up, face patterns, all without changing the face.

more control over the shape of eyes, there is only one asian themed face and that one is to doll-like IMO.

allot more hair styles, even some hair styles from other races. (like the really long pony tail of the norn for humans etc…)

and FYI, all within new character creation, i still think it’s ridicules that we have to buy a total makeover kit after making the character. (it’s expensive enough to buy a character slot….)
