i know the movie but it has nothing to do with GW lore, every single mini has at least something that connects it to the world, this mini just exists because. (just like the mosquito, exists but has no real reason to life)
then isn’t it time for them to hinder the braindead DPS playstyle and focus on a more strategic battlefield, isn’t it time they gave up on their “but it’s fine the way it is” crap and actually change the battle system so players need to think before they act.
really, if there is one thing this game is good at it’s the auto-pilot battles, i know the original GW has plenty of auto skills but GW2 just adds a whole different level of lazy fighters.
i actually hate the blacklist system, if they really are concerned about leaking then don’t keep old passwords in the system……SERIOUSLY!!!
i have one password in several different ways (and there are allot), there is no way that i am ever gonna change my password ever again with this crap system. The reason for the blacklisting is other people leaking their password list and way too many people having the tendency to use either the same password or the same password with minor changes for multiple things.
and who’s problem is that, exactly…..
if you can’t shut up about your own pass then it’s not for Anet to fix things, i have never bin hacked even ones ever but i really don’t like this blacklisting at all.
what if i have no choice in the matter and Anet forces everyone to change the pass, if that happens i am screwed.
remove the blacklist part, i hate the whole system, i had to change my pass to something completely unknown because of that piece of crap system.
A vast majority of the playerbase complains about the PVE in this game. Most people do not like the fact that everyone has to run zerkers and it’s all about doing as much DPS as possible. A lot of people complain about this to ANET. The only way they could possibly fix this is make tanking/healing viable so that not everything is a dps-fest.
With the introduction of a 6 second taunt on revenant, and class specializations, specifically druid ranger, I’m hoping anet is moving towards the holy trinity. This would open up so many more options for types of gameplay and builds. I know anet started out not wanting a trinity but in reality, you need it in MMOs or everything will just be DPS-fest.
In this video there is a bar under the NPCs health that changes when it is being taunted by the player. Is this a new sort of aggro system? I truly hope so.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7zkWJxYqUATo all that are going to say you don’t want tanks/healers, then you also can’t complain about everyone running zerkers and dps spamming through dungeons, because that’s what we got for not having a trinity.
First, you don’t know or speak for the vast majority of the playerbase.
Second, going full trinity isn’t even close to the only way they could “fix” the zerk/dps meta.
Third, Taunt in GW2 does not function like Taunting abilities do in trinity MMOs.
Someone is in denial. Every day I see people saying how garbage the pve is on reddit, these forums, and in-game map chat. at pax they say they hope the expansion will bring “pve content that isn’t terrible”.
reddit is what, ~1% of the game’s community?
hardly a place to use and say it’s a fact, i happen to enjoy PvE as much as i can and you know what, i hate zergs ruining parts of the fun.
i actually hate the blacklist system, if they really are concerned about leaking then don’t keep old passwords in the system……SERIOUSLY!!!
i have one password in several different ways (and there are allot), there is no way that i am ever gonna change my password ever again with this crap system.
I’m curious why you’re hiding all of your weapon skills and utilities but not that mistfire wolf elite.
If any of them were to be embarrassing, it’d probably be that one.
in a time when you don’t have any other elite unlocked, i hardly see that as anything embarrassing. (why ppl are ashamed of their build is a serious X-files case becuase it just makes no sense)
anyway, if they made all armor stats flat out and not put it on higher tiers then they would not be so useless…..and they wonder why the grind is so high -_-
[…]
Though nobody ever seems to get it, if you stand behind them and zoom in, it works. I don’t know why everybody seems to think face to face is the way to see anything without first person or screen shot mode xD
[…]That is horribly annoying. And it doesn’t work if they are in front of some surface that blocks the camera. You have to do gymnastics to move the camera close enough, and you may only get a sideways view.
Doesn’t count.
like it or not, in FP you will see less then in TP with such a situation, like you said it’s practically standing with the face against a wall.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39_Pu1U7tIMSo . . . you want a ugly version of the Sims? Um . . . no thank you again.
it’s better then GW2 has to offer so thnx for pointing out how ugly GW2 really is……
I want an impressive pistol. Like a .50 cal. Something Dirty Harry would be proud of. Or something that would fit in with Judge Dredd.
so…you want a sniper rifle that is designed to destroy a heavy armored tank made in the late 90’s?
you do realize that’s not only ridicules, it doesn’t even fit the game at all….Already a sniper rifle in game, so I don’t know what you are babbling about. And what is so ridiculous about the S&W 500?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_%26_Wesson_Model_500
I just want a pistol that is a bit bulkier.
what’s ridicules is that you’re asking for an anti-tank sniper rifle made in modern times, the hunter and predator are both made in a more medieval style.
the gun you’re talking about is really modern, guns in this game doesn’t go further then the civil war times. You didn’t click the link. You have no idea what you are talking about. You don’t even play the same game as the rest of us as far as I can tell. Did you get lost?
designed: 2002-2003
build time: 2003-present
don’t defend when you lost, i told you it’s to modern and was right.
i have every way i know about, yes i clicked the link and yes i read, if you want to do it properly try to at least link a more ancient weapon.

here, i did you a favor, now quit defending the obvious endless whine.moving on, you remember the times when a weapon like Excalibur was seen as legendary?
no special particle effects, no bling bling everywhere, just a legendary powerful weapon honoring it’s name. You are insane. Glyphic guns, the weapons from super adventure box, the hunter, the predator. Asuran and Charr tech is way beyond civil war. They have tanks and guass cannons. Seriously, do you guys even look around? Do you do anything other than wvw? It’s like you have no idea what is in the game.
the hunter and preditor are based on charr tec, not a .50 call.
asura tec is magic, do you have a magic well in your backyard….no?……exactly.
oh and one more thing, i think you’re the one playing a different game, this isn’t COD kid.
FYI, there are more guns in history then post 2000, learn your history.
in GW1 you can do the exact same thing, better yet, in GW2 they actually hold ppl back by forcing you to do the whole PS for instance from the very start.
in GW1 you can just go to certain mission and end up finishing the game in about 3 missions, dungeons can be done even easier since you just need to run there to get in.
i even ones made a character, got it to lvl 20 without doing even one single dungeon/mission and then runned all the way to the end.
the only single chapter that doesn’t support that is factions but then again, this place is an annoying chapter.
i rather them letting players decide what they play then limiting everything behind crap story reasons, i can’t stand that one part of nightfall that you need to do the entire isle just to get off the isle in the first place.
they did ones say that they are planning on releasing the core systems before HoT, this includes specialization and masteries.
why the hell would i care if someone else looks at my character’s face, as long as i like it screw them.

Well if the Ele does specialize with a sword, that will mean 7 out of 9 will use a sword…
I see no problem with this as it’s probably Anets goal to add all weapons to all professions over time. Sooner or later this will happen anyway. I’ll get excited when one profession has all weapons as this might mean that the next specialisation will use entirely new weapons.
I agree. I don’t understand people that say too many professions have similar weapons, so don’t put it on this one too. The argument seems so weak. Greatsword on a heavy armored profession makes sense, anyway. Just like currently how every spellcasting class has access to the Staff.
this problem exists simply because most weapons suck regardless, no one is gonna use a weapon that never worked properly anyway.
for instance, the scepter for necro, it just slows you and everybody down, you’re better of taking ether the staff or dagger (can be off dagger or off horn).
Anet first needs to improve the weapon skills of each and every profession when a weapon is barely to never used, only then ppl can complain about “prof X uses weapon Y way to many times”
i have legendary sunspear and i am the kind of player who can’t stand such grind, it’s the easiest title there is.
go to the kodash bazaar, exit to forum highlands and keep on going down to the portal while killing hylecs.
enter the portal and enter it again, now do the same in reverse.
it nets you about 800+ points within 20 minutes (bin a while tho so i can be off), it go’s allot faster when you wait till a weekend event for double sunspear points.
if i had that much gold i would wonder how i even got that much in the first place, i am broke most of the time because to me 1G is already quite allot.
maybe so many ppl have 2K at minimum but i barely hit the 30G….
actually, it’s really good for PvE too, there are plenty of monsters that can’t be KD/KB and are immune to any interrupt.
this change makes sure that when such an enemy can KB/KD a player they can do something about it, just try to attack centaurs when you just got KD, i was ones KD 3X in a row and there was nothing i could do about it.
i found out that alt-tab is only bad when you’re playing in cantha, anywhere else (especially in proph) this issue barely to never happens.

Seems redundant. It’s good to use from the start of the battle, and you need to keep battling to refil…
So when you leave combat it, what, refills itself? Or does it empty? Enter combat it automatically fills?
What you’re really suggesting, once you remove the adrenaline terminology, is a recharge rate that is determined by your speed of skill usage. Which means that any build that does not involve quickness is underpowered to any build that does.
The Initiative system is not like the energy system that we have for Revenants – nor is it akin to the energy system that was around at launch (which was shared between all skill usage and the dodge bar!) If you must compare it to the initiative system, it would be like that if you start each weapon swap at 50% (so basically if you had that initiative-on-weapon-swap trait). But unlike the thief weapon skills, revenant legend skills have recharge times, I believe.
you clearly didn’t read it and just skimmed through it so i will slowly explain what was already explained, special for you.
you can use the skill from point one.
when you hit an enemy you gain an adrenaline point.
each skill has their own adrenaline point cost.
in order to recharge them you need to fight enemies because guess what, you hit enemies when you do, weird right?
when you are outside battle mode, so when that little yellow background behind your skills is not there anymore, it recharges on it’s own.
i can try to do it even more patronizing but then i scoop to seasame street level.
….i seriously hope you’re not suggesting big flat screens all over LA……to much football-like for me….ugh…
stealth doesn’t mean immune to blindness/fear/anything really, it’s just an invisibility power that is being exploited against unskilled players.
a skilled enough necro can take down a thief 1v1 anytime, the sad part is just that most (not all) necro players don’t know the difference between fighting to win and fighting to get out alive.
As we all know, the revanant is going to have an energy bar.
I personally find that a big step back to how they started GW2, they didn’t remove the energy bar from casters for nothing.
So what I am about to suggest will do away with the energy bar and instead give the players more control over what you spend on skills, I call this the reverse adrenaline system.
Reverse adrenaline system:
this system allows you to recharge your skills by fighting enemies, to explain this I have to explain some things.
In GW1 there is adrenaline, this fills a skill based on adrenaline and when it’s full you can use that skill.
As you already guessed, this is quite a hamper on the start of a fight.
That’s why this is a reverse system, the skill is already full from the get go but as long as you’re in battle mode you need to fight to recharge skills.
So it go’s like this:
- your skills (on weapon) are useable from the start.
- when you use the skill you spend the adrenaline of that skill.
- in order to reuse the skill again while in battle mode you have to fight your enemies.
when you get out of battle mode your skills will be recharged just like your health, the length of time depends on how much the skill costs. (a skill of 4 adrenaline is just a few seconds while a powerful one of 8 takes about 5 seconds to recharge.)
the reason why I rather want this?
This will not overall depend on one energy bar but instead gives the player the choice on what skill they use, only having to pay the cost of that one skill.
They already made this mistake with the thief, it’s a horrible system and only the most patient players are able to handle that profession.
Don’t make the same mistake all over again, it’s bad enough it has a big limit on utility skills, healing skills and the elite slot, not to mention the lack of weapon swap, don’t make it the most frustrating and limiting profession in the game.
I like control, consider the cost of each skill and go with that.
I know you like to have full control over your character, if you really do then you can at least agree that the current revanant is more limited then you will ever like.
control>controlled
I have morrowind right infront of me its rated 12+ it did not get the M rating until Oblivion because of the lucien scene.
oops, my bad…..played to much skyrim to realize that :P
even while i am probably gonna hate the profession, my plan is ether making my ritualist or a female asura.
I think this is a fantastic idea, Because of how kitten everyone is getting over it alone. Real world issues aside this is a GAME. Morrowind for example had slavery in it and you could run around and free the argonians and khajit from the racist dark elves. It made the world darker and more realistic and this game is very PC as it is story wise and could use something like this to make people think about there actions when they are not playing it.
elder scrolls games have always bin 18+ games, this is a teen/13+ game, total different crowd.
the necro gets spit on from the get go and no one bats an eye, the sylvari has one single turn of event and everyone loses their mind.
new meta?
you mean new joke, it has all the bad sides and none of the good sides.
energy – same as initiative which i can’t stand.
no weapon swap – worse then engineer and they have kits to lower the problem.
linked utility skills – as if we don’t have enough limits.
take that and add the problem that their health bar is med, it’s gonna be a fun ride seeing ppl getting so exited for this profession and ending up dying more often then they like to.
at least remove the energy dependent part and the blow isn’t that hard, for now it’s allot worse then the thief and that profession is broken beyond believe.

….AFK is kicked already after 15 minutes, lowering the time is only hurting ppl who just need to go to the toilet.
would you like it if you just got all your friend gathered up, you have to go to the toilet before moving out and getting back and being kicked because you get kicked earlier in the SW then anywhere else?
i hope there is also the other way around, a caster rather have the enemy attack their summon first so the DPS is applied before the summon dies.
There are alot of counters against stealth… l2p…
Couldn’t help but notice you didn’t mention any of them.
Sic em, whatever the engie “sic em” is called, interrupting d/p HS in BP, pbaoe after they stealth, immoblizations, running in the opposite direction so they’re forced to use a shadowstep. block/aegis and dodgeing after you see aegis strip. there are likely more that im forgetting, be creative.
Dont complain about having to slot a skill specifically to counter a theif, we’ve had to slot daggerstorm ever since the RF buff just to have a chance of not dying immediatly to rangers.
Now that I play a thief, I can honestly say that those don’t work worth a kitten .
Sic’em? Can’t stop me from entering stealth. In fact, going into stealth will cancel the effect of the shout. Interrupts? That’s the beauty of the initiative system. Spam-ability. Interrupting is a temporary draw back. Blinding Powder also works no matter what state I’m in. I also hope that interrupt is a ranged one. Black powder will blind you and your attempt to interrupt my HS will miss. However, being D/P, I will probably be on you so even if you are ranged, my BP will still blind you and your ranged interrupt will still miss.
If you depend on DS to counter RF you are doing something wrong. Although I have an advantage here. I run dagger/pistol so Head Shot = RF canceled. Also don’t stealth on an RF. Dodge (twice if you have to) and then stealth. By the time you come back out your endurance should be good for one more dodge. Assuming you even need to the moment you come out.
be my guess
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Reaper%27s_Mark
because of all the crafting professions, tailor is the most expensive. (which is weird tho, you need allot more steel then cloth to make armor.)
heh, i dunno about you but stealth has always bin useless in this game to me, way to short and anyone skilled enough can crush me before i even get close.
love the assassin allot more, no need for stealth but instead it has good survival skills mid battle, they can even heal them selves while attacking.
assassin>thief
so….another profession i am gonna hate, it’s bad enough to have an energy bar on the thief, now they are making the exact same mistake with the new guy.
worse, they even make it more limited then the engineer and that’s already bad enough, no weapon swap with such a utility skill limit is really the worst they can do.
personal use is a term that’s used so only you are able to use it in the way you want it, when you put it in a public game it’s not on personal use anymore now is it.
if i take a wallpaper of GW2 and modify it the way i like it, no one is gonna stop it but the moment i use it in a game that right stops right there.
i think it’s all subjective tho, wait for Anet to comment and we’ll see.
if jumping puzzles actually drop some exotics for the character’s weight class it would make JP’s allot more fun to do, some rares for a weight class i don’t even use and on a lower level then i am is putting ppl off.
I agree with the OP. I am also completely against jump puzzles in dungeons and fractals. They make me literally sick and triggers massive headaches. I remember they said it would be optional content, it doesn’t feel like that anymore.
Well luckily there aren’t any JPs in dungeons or fractals. So you’re good.
Uncategorized Fractal says hello. Mad King’s Clock Tower says hello.
mad king clock isn’t a jumping puzzle, it’s a jumping race.
big difference there.
It’s not like dolyaks drop slabs of red meat or anything… say, have you tried my recipe for dolyak steak?
with pepper or do you have different spices?
sigh…here we go…
specialization has nothing to do with masteries, it will completely replace the trait system and thus it would be foolish to use it post-lvl 80.
in terms of traits it will unlock way earlier then lvl 80 (i don’t know the exact level but i hope ether around lvl 15 or as it is now on lvl 30), in terms of weapon specialization it’s for now post-lvl 80 only. (since HoT is based on lvl 80 content and the release specialization for weapons can only be gained through HoT)
I want an impressive pistol. Like a .50 cal. Something Dirty Harry would be proud of. Or something that would fit in with Judge Dredd.
so…you want a sniper rifle that is designed to destroy a heavy armored tank made in the late 90’s?
you do realize that’s not only ridicules, it doesn’t even fit the game at all….
but i actually help players get back up, it’s called cooperation, look it up when you feel generous for ones…..
Let’s say you’re on an elevator with 12 other people. You see somebody running down the hallway to catch the elevator. Do you hold it?
You might say, “Yes, because I’m generous and nice and you’re a jerk who won’t hold the elevator.”
To which I say, “Sure, but you’re making the decision to delay the elevator for twelve other people. Does their time not also matter?”
Using words like “generous” has no place in this discussion as it is entirely subjective. By ignoring the fight to help a defeated player, you are helping that individual while also hurting the whole group.
if an event is build on “everyone pulling their weight” then i seriously doubt it’s the problem of one single player, it’s more likely the event is simply not designed properly.
seriously, if one player, just ONE single player, hurts the entire even, i will simply say “suck it” and leave.
it’s the problem of even scaling, not players kittens a player.
it’s one player less for about 15-20 second and 2 more players hence forth, that’s a win-win in my mind.
what is a flashy risen called?……
Michael!!!
would love to max size my GS on my asura, it’s the whole reason why i made a guardian asura…..
i hope the GS is gonna be a big DPS weapon for them, they are spit on long enough, it’s time necro’s crush enemies like nobody’s business.
S1 ruined kessex hills, i wish they never did anything like that…..EVER!!!!!!!!!
war does more dmg, guar has a higher survival chance, choose what you care most about.
Frankly, gaile should change the thread title so people can get off of it and onto the topic at hand itself.
With all due respect Aidan, the topic at hand IS the traits system. Full stop. This thread was created after the original 10 month long 83 pages thread that was on this forum was closed/removed.
The topic has only ever been the traits system, except now we have been told something is coming and that’s it. No more info other than:
Colin recently shared some information related to the Traits system. In addition our article on Masteries provided other early info that could be part of any conversation about traits or character progression. (Edit: I don’t mean to suggest that the two topics are intertwined, only to point you to two discussions about character progression that have been released in recent days.)
Here’s a sparkly new thread to discuss the subject. Please read the post and article linked above. We’d also encourage you to keep up on future information releases so that this thread can be of the greatest value and relevance to other forum members and, of course, to the dev team as well.
Thank you.
The bold should be of interest for you. (Also gaile, you forgot that ‘discussion’ should have been plural
)
Sorudo, when they say simplifying the trait system, I dont think THAT was how they intended to simplify it. Currently the effects of traits are about as simple as they can get without merging traits and needing to create more to fill the gap. Like the engineer’s trait for example, that gives pistol skills (at least the autoattack) piercing, literally states “pistol skills pierce.” Cant get any simpler. I’m under the impression, and the implication of what’s been stated so far seems to support it, is that they’re simplifying the system of obtaining traits, while retaining the ability to buy traits still. There’s definitely things they can do to adjust traits themselves to make them better (like selectable minor traits so power builds can take something other than the “I cant inflict good condi so I’ll overwrite yours and laugh” traits), but those are ideas for another thread.
uhmm, 2 different traits for the same thing isn’t my idea of “simple”, it’s an unnecessary fill of traits.
i rather have about 20 traits across the entire trait system then plenty with double functions, it’s pretty much factions all over again and they fixed some of the skills they doubled.
i think your kind of player is the exact problem here, if someone has to wait more then 1 minute for someone to res then guess who is really the problem here.
During an event like Teq or THW burn phase, its the person lying around completely down on the ground, the reasons have been explained ad nauseam above.
death happens, just because someone died and waits for someone to res doesn’t make them a leech, don’t think so negative about ppl and start ressing if it bothers you so much.
Yes and I do rez people in the open world if I happen to come across them, but that is not what I am talking about. The discussion was about people lying dead during events waiting for rez and those people who rez them are now not doing DPS. People should help the downed every time unless it will cause them to die during big bosses but not dead.
The FULLY DOWNED should have the consideration for the other players to WP and run back. This is something that really hasnt been brought up much this thread, is how inconsiderate those who sit around waiting for rez are being to everyone else who are contributing to the success of the event.
a dead player is a dead player, we have ress for a reason.
maybe i am one of the odd balls here but i actually help players get back up, it’s called cooperation, look it up when you feel generous for ones…..
