they like to hype up, we like to spend money.
both are not gonna happen if they keep this up, hype only works if there is something to be hyped about and the only to do that is by having info to base the hype on.
what we want is some real info, what they give is a lollipop they give to children.

Is GW2 Nordicist?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

ok, since no one here even has the slightest idea what nordic culture is, it’s clear no one has the right to judge (especially the OP with his offensive non-educational thoughts).

i have bin studying the nordic culture for quite some time, they are more the smart warriors then the barbaric lot ppl think they are.
you talk about slaughter?
look at the templars and say again how horrible the nordic warriors were, templars killed more in one week then nordic viking did in a year.
better yet, nordic vikings killed for loot, templars killed simply because others didn’t believe in their religion.

take some lessons of history before you talk bad about a culture, this simply shows how much a troll you really are.

oh and btw, the norns in nordic mytholigy are 3 women, past, present and future who hold every line of life.
when you are supposed to die, they are the ones to cut your life line, literally.

norns in game are based on nordic culture but have the religion of native americans, you can see it in they craftmanship.
nordic vikings have a certain kind of style with inscriptions, native americans like to decorate their weapons with feathers and straps.
just look at their weapons, they have both styles, decorations of native americans with inscriptions of nordic origin.

Intel Core i7 4790, 3.6GHz Quad Core with HT
Asus Z97-P, Intel Z97 Chipset

4GB EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked ACX
1TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64bit & 3 Year Premium Warranty
LN60300 550W Corsair VS, None-Modular, 80PLUS – Any Single Graphics Card

a personal note, avoid asus like the plague.
i have gone through 4 computers with asus build in and they simply lower the overall quality and constantly block the computer flow.
drivers that never work as intended, improper use of power flow, crashing all the time, shutting down for absolutely no reason and the list go’s on.

ether go for MSI or ASROCK, they never fail and all the drivers are from the official chipset manufacture. (like the vid card, asus uses it’s own driver but is outdated all the time, i used an nvidia card and when i switched to MSI the card worked perfectly on the official driver of nvidia.)
i know there are ppl who swear with asus but i never had any good experience with them, i build my computers my self so if anything goes wrong i know how to detect the problem.

Increase all running speed by 10%

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

i wonder why ppl have to run so fast, the faster you run through everything, the faster you get bored.

one thing that does bother me is the size of the world and how Anet made use of it, the size is actually quite big but because the low and mid level zones are everywhere the world seems so small.
just an example, right now you have 5 different starter areas with 5 different starter zones, that’s already 4 zones wasted on adding low and mid level areas.
if they did it right they could keep it to just 2 starter areas and keep them close by, when that happens they can fully use the space this game has.

for instance, what if divinity’s reach doesn’t exist and instead has ebon hawk as starter area, now have the exit of this city to plains of ashford.
now all of a sudden they have about 3 zones free to change in level and all because divinity’s reach is standing exactly on a place where things just don’t work as well.
now let’s change the position of hoelbark to the most northern part of wayfarer foothills and put an exit to dissa plateau, wayfarer foothills and snowden drifts.
now fuse dissa plateau and plains of ashford as one zone, the place where hoelbark normally stands is now a part of snowden drifts with a portal to lornar’s pass.

you might wonder what this has to do with the speed buff suggestion, it’s about the size of useless zones.
currently the low and mid level zones have about 75% of the map, if we lower that to a smaller 55% then all of a sudden you don’t really need much speed buff in PvE.
you’re more busy playing the game and have plenty of space to enjoy what is in the map, levels are then far better spread out.

IMO the speed buff is right now only needed to get somewhere really fast without paying for the way point, all because the distance from a low level zone to a higher level zone is long.
spread out the level range in zones and you’ll see that the space in a map is properly used, getting to a certain level range is easier because it’s easier to aim for that specific level range.

to say this simple, you rather travel to a place where your lvl 40 character can fight lvl 40 enemies with space to spare then having to port to a lvl 35 zone and only having a really small area to fight lvl 40 enemies, the whole reason why this scaling is here is because there are simply way to many zones where scaling is needed, honestly if they made GW2 as i described it above they would’ve had at least 3 lvl 80 zones from launch.

you ppl do realize that the DX only enhances the shader quality and need to make the right shaders to take advantage of this, for now all they have to do is add a higher resolution then 500X500 on their textures (like 1024) and the game already looks allot better. (often it feels like they take a texture of 200X200 and stretch it on a way to big area, it’s a pixel mess in the game)
oblivion is a much older game then GW2 and runs on DX9, this game has textures far higher in resolution then in the entire game of GW2.

it’s not the DX version you have to worry about, it’s the texture resolution.

LOL, traits and Legendary are two different things, you can not compare them.
I think the new legendary system is great, finally legendary is not all about gold farm anymore, I mean you still need to do alot of gold farm, but it’s not all that to it anymore.

…..missing the point much?
i never said they are the same, i said that it requires you to jump hoops just like traits.

if they added select attacks then dodge is completely worthless, this will force ppl on making their build more defense focused.
select attacks are attacks that ignores any movement, it go’s straight to the enemy and might even ignore armor. (like most spells do in GW1 of the necro, it works so well that you can attack from behind a wall.)

Sexier armor for males?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

heh, the problem here is that ppl confuse the term “sexy” with “cool”, a male character can be sexy but for the most part that’s not how a male character dresses.
in battle a male character doesn’t look sexy, they look cool as in, you look at him and you pee your pants from fear cool.

this picture shows a “sexy” male, dresses to impress the females by showing of muscles and prowess.
http://popori-cbt.narod.ru/armor-castanic/castanic-male-plate-03.jpg

this picture shows a “cool” male, armor that makes his enemies fear by just looking at him.
http://static-3.nexusmods.com/15/mods/110/images/12629-4-1331615305.jpg

ofcouse it’s each there own, one can call pic 1 sexy while someone else calls pic 2 sexy.
the point however is that, just because a bare chest is shown doesn’t make it sexy, i am to much a hetro and male )to understand what true sexy is for women but there is a difference.

when i look at female characters in this game none of them is truly sexy, some are in fantasy and others are cool but sexy they are not.

this armor is cool and fits the world, doesn’t make it sexy:
http://madartlab.com/files/2011/12/hildelarge.jpg

another this ppl confuse with is sexy and skimpy, sexy doesn’t have to show skin and skimpy doesn’t have to look sexy at all.

this is skimpy:
http://madartlab.com/files/2011/12/Screen-shot-2010-07-05-at-11.11.08-PM.png
only interested in showing skin and nothing else, it doesn’t even invites you.

this is sexy:
https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/66602/bs-female-design7.jpg
shows of here shape perfectly, doesn’t interest in showing skin but it invites you in.

it’s just that, ppl need to know the difference, sexy isn’t always skimpy, skimpy isn’t always sexy.
also, for male characters, sexy isn’t always cool and cool doesn’t have to be sexy.
the whole point of male characters is not to be a ken to barbie, the point is to make the male character look touch as nails to the point that he impresses not by sexyness but by showing of his experience.

-make the zodiac blue skin dye-able
-fix the dye brightness on the profane armor (it’s allot brighter then the color is suppose to be, this is from launch so it’s about time they fix this)

Why is there no controller support?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

for ppl who say that they can play DCUO with a controller, the whole reason is because the game was made around the PS3 controller and later made for PC use.
GW2 is made around PC use, anything beside that is obviously not supported.

it’s not what the company supports, it’s what kind of platform they are focusing on.
a game made for both a PC &console will always have a controller support, a game only made for a PC will (for the most part) always made with only KBM in mind.
it’s not rocket science….

the problem with the hype train they’re trying to make is that, we have bin asking for a change for almost a years and they have given us absolutely nothing.
players start to lose interest, they spend their money on something rewarding.
they rather spend $100 on a game that was just released then even $10 on GW2 because the new game at least has the info and gameplay they released on time, GW2 is for now nothing more then a dead waste of time to even spend any money on.

we want info, just 13 days away from making this problem a yearly discussion….literally.

Traits Part 2

sorudo.9054

Wait…let me get this straight (since i’ve not logged into the game for a couple of days): the April Fools joke this year has to do with airplanes?

Wow.

OK.

Oh, and hello Q2. How you doin’?

Everyone is running around in an aviator cap, with their arms outstretched, making “NYEEEEEEER” noises, and there’s a jaunty silent-movie-era tune that plays when you die. I seriously hope they add in the emote /plane for use in the game. It’s amusing. I’ve been jumping off the side of Rata Sum just to hear the music. I don’t understand why people want to make it political, when it’s obviously not.

So, on that note: It’s now April. Any chance we could have some real, concrete information about what is being done to fix the trait debacle? 2 weeks away from the one-year anniversary.

Aaaah, okie. Yeah, I can’t really see the outrage RE: the joke. I think people would have been more kittened off is a zombie Gwen sprung to life to rain down death on them at all of the home cities.

That being said, yes i’d love to know if we are hearing anything by the time the anniversary of this trait nonsense.

makes me want a zombie event where all enemy humanoids are changed in classic zombies :P (not risen btw, they will only make things worse)

firstly, let me say that the reason why it already took me a long time to go from XP to WIN7 is because i hate the whole “let’s change everything and restrict access” crap.
also, as long as any of the newer wins are made for tablets and NOT for the PC it’s a no go, keep your android on the phone, i want an actual windows OS.(and one that doesn’t use up over 2GB RAM space, win XP only used 450-500MB including my own programs in the background)

secondly, DX isn’t something you can just put in the game overnight, it’s an integrated system specifically made for the engine.
if an engine is based on 1 certain DX, making it compatible for a newer version means they need to completely rewrite the core of the engine.
if you have a car engine and there is a different engine with better performance, the only way to improve the car is to completely remove the old engine and place the new and improved one, you can’t just put parts of the new engine an the old one because it simply doesn’t fit.
it works exactly the same way in game engines, an engine build around DX9 can only handle DX9, anything newer doesn’t work.

LOL coming from somone who works on Old Muscle cars with his Dad and is very well Mechanically Inclined i will inform you an engine swap can be done in a weekend you make it sound like its a Year long job LMFAO. also its not the same thing.

an engine swap in a car is done in a week because all the parts are universal, game engines are everything except universal.
you make it sound like you even have the slightest idea what i am talking about, i never said switching an engine takes a long time, i said it’s not possible to just slam 2 different engines in to one.

and no, crafting isn’t fast at all, you first need to have the mats in the first place and getting gold is difficult enough so again no, buying mat’s isn’t a solution for this.
tomes are faster, doesn’t cost anything (well, maybe my hand for an hour) and doesn’t require anything other then the tomes.

ESO brought me back to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

What it will come down to is people playing ESO long enough to see the flaws, which are bound to still be there, albeit different flaws than launch.

People here who are saying ESO is refreshing, many of them anyway, are in the new game honeymoon phase, which passes eventually.

I’m sure it is a nice diversion though. I’ll wait for it to be cheap before I get it myself however.

it’s the same with GW2 vayne, after playing GW2 for almost 3 years now i see way to many flaws to ignore them, the difference is if the flaws are game breaking or not.

in GW2 the best part is the unexpected events happening, play for a long time and you eventually don’t care anymore putting quite a huge damper on the fun.
the best thing about ESO is the deep story line, the problem is that ones you got through it all you just skip everything to get to a higher level.

in GW2’s case it removes a whole part of the game, something you don’t care about anymore is simply something you don’t like.
in ESO’s case it’s something you can ignore or skip dialogs at any time, this doesn’t really remove the fun, it makes things go faster.

i’m not saying ESO is “better” then GW2, i am not even saying that ESO is superior to GW2.
what i’m saying is that what Anet made as it’s strong point eventually became it’s weak point, what zenimax made as it’s strong point eventually became a side thing to do.
why do you think there are players saying that all they do is fractures or dungeons, i really see that as a waste of time developing such a huge world and only a small part of the crowd actually plays in them.

the bottom line is simple, even while GW2 has plenty of good stuff to have fun with, it doesn’t make it the crown jewel ppl make it out to be.
i know there are plenty of MMO’s that are allot worse then any of the popular games, doesn’t mean GW2 is the best of them all.
it’s unique in it’s own way, ESO is also unique on it’s own way, doesn’t make them better then the rest.

ESO brought me back to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

sorudo.9054

GW2 has absolutely none of that, what are you complaining about anyway.
the quests are dynamic (unlike dynamic events in GW2), the story is interesting (unlike GW2’s personal story) and the world is actually immersive (again, unlike GW2).
at least you have 2 guilds and you can join both of them, in GW2 you can only choose one and have no access to any of the other two. (this is NPC guilds, not player guilds )

if anything ESO actually has a true battle system, in GW2 all we have is “press button and auto pilot through enemies”.
it has the player skill part done right, GW2 is more like WoW where everything is based on gear and levels, skill has nothing to do with it.
i am quite skill-less with a warrior but i take down enemies blindfolded, try that in ESO and you’re dead regardless of your gear.

ESO: more skill based, just as GW1 is.
GW2: more gear based, just as WoW is.

just one question: what are you smoking?

GW2 is gear based, even though it’s a horizontal progression game? -_-
In what part of the game are you running into major gear differences pray tell me?

Also in ESO run a vamp/ werewolf combination, stand in Cyrodil and laugh at those silly 30 people trying to take you down.

….i really don’t care about PvP, try again…..
oh and since you’re asking, let’s get in a team of dungeon runners as a necro, i bet you will simply waste your time.
no major gear difference you say?
or what about the part where war’s and guar’s are pretty much the most powerful of all GW2 professions, in ESO you have full control over what you wear and how you fight, no one class is more powerful then others.

Heavy, Medium, Light Armor - why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sorudo.9054

sorudo.9054

even with the armor differences, you can’t simply see the difference between a necro and an ele.
if it was done like GW1 then you could but they decided to make all armor classes global so light armor is all with light armor and not necro armor and ele armor, personally i think they should remove the visual limit and simply make all armor classes stat wise-only.

the big problem here is that Anet (and some other dev teams) care to much about glitches, armor can glitch through other armor parts.
i would say let the player decide, it’s not up to the dev to decide what we like and what we can see as acceptable.

ESO brought me back to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

sorudo.9054

it’s from the guys that made Skyrim.

And this was your first mistake. It’s published by Bethesda, but that’s about it.

Personally, while I’m not “coming to GW2 from ESO”, I actually really liked ESO’s questing, and skills and combat were so-so. The one unforgivable crime that I wouldn’t abide for is that even after four major patches (back when I tried it) and even now after six major patches, they still haven’t put in guilds that should have been in on day one, no exceptions (Thieves’ Guild and Dark Brotherhood). I mean, what the hell? You only have four ‘classes’ and everyone playing a shadowblade can just kitten off? Oh, just join the fighter’s guild, yeah, right. Who even cared about the fighter’s guilds in any Elder Scrolls game? Skyrim didn’t even really have one, considering the Companions were really just a werewolf questline in disguise.

I mean, okay, fine, they finally got around to introducing the Justice system so you can actually steal things. The guilds are obviously coming, but they completely and utterly failed hard by not including them release, and not having them on the re-release is even more ridiculous. I’ll try it again when they finally get around to having at least the bare minimum of content for everyone.

GW2 has absolutely none of that, what are you complaining about anyway.

i love ESO, the lore is interesting, the quests are dynamic, the world is alive all the time.
it even has a battle system that can be used by your self, unlike GW2 it’s not all autopilot.

it’s still to each their own but to say it’s a bad game shows ignorance, clearly there are plenty of ppl saying the exact same thing about GW2 and do like ESO.
i like both, GW2 for the fantasy settings and fast battles and ESO for the lush world and self control of battles.

if anything, GW2 is less what GW1 is while ESO is more so, based on player skill not time and gear.

cute, however what was said beyond the whole “second profession” thing is something completely different said by colin him self:

“Now that the HOT is out of the bag, we’re able to update this thread with more details. With the introduction of the new account based mastery system for end-game progression and growth in PvE, we’ll also be re-evaluating our other systems of character progression to ensure they match our over-all pillars and goals for Gw2.

In doing so: we’re going to be removing the current trait unlocking system currently on live and replacing it with a more simplified system that supports where skills-traits-specializations are going in the future. We’ll go into more details between now and the release of HOT on how skills, traits, and specializations will work in the new Gw2 world."

we don’t have enough details but he surely said it will completely replace the trait system.

till the time i can take my necro and solo a dungeon i say BS, it’s not solo-able.
would love it tho, the whole reason why i never play dungeons anymore is because teams are to restricted and players are nowadays not patient enough to slow down and enjoy the time in a dungeon.

Heart of Thorns Beta Hype!

All those people who are super excited to “play” the beta and to get a key are probably the wrong group for testing the expansion anyway.

I have not signed up for the newsletter, even though I have tons of experience with beta testing and QA. Would I take a spot and do the job if necessary? Sure. But right now I just enjoy the idea of playing the expansion around the release, enjoying all the new stuff without being spoiled and burned out before it is actually available.

Beta testing comes with a high price, but many people are too blinded by the hype to see that. It is like opening a gift before christmas, only to see that it is not yet what you want. It no longer matters if you actually get what you want for christmas afterwards, as the damage is already done.

Be careful for what you wish for. My advice, if you get a spot, try to test as if you got paid for it. Try to put on a professional mindset. Wait a day before you start to nerd-rage. If you cannot handle it, stop beta-testing.

the ones who play are the ones they actually need, if you don’t “play” the beta then what are you doing, standing around talking about it?
sure, i am the kind of player that tests while having a glass half empty thought behind it so any disappointment doesn’t surprise me, often try all kinds of things to crash the game or to exploit the game to oblivion.
that doesn’t mean they only need that kind of tester, they need testers of any type, even the ones who only want to get in to “play” the expansion.

like if you only take vets in the beta, they already know how the game works so anything new is quickly old.
add some new faces in it and the opinions are different, they barely know how to play the game and start to see things as if it’s the way it was always meant to be.

don’t dismiss one kind of testers just because you think it’s not a good idea, any tester is a good idea regardless of their intentions.
the whole idea is to test if it’s play ready, if someone plays it as a normal run-off-the-mill player then this player is playing it the way Anet designed it.

a few things i do have to ask to Anet, how does this beta work?
do we use an existing character or are you gonna clone ours, is it on the same server or are you planning to do this on a completely different server like a PTS, is the beta going to be timed or done throughout a whole day or so?

“Specializing keeps base profession skills and traits in addition to the new ones provided by that specialization”

ppl really need to read some before asking for something, specialization is more then just some pretty weapons.
it will completely replace the trait system and i find that allot more important then any new weapon set, i like to see if they actually fix their own mistake or if they made it even worse.

craft masterwork and higher armor and almost every single armor gives you luck, most mats can be gained really easy and even the lower level armors give you luck.
that’s the cheapest to get a high luck rate, anything else will cost you or takes allot longer.

I’d consider AP or played time a better measure to reward loyalty than just signing in to a mailing list

Honestly I read “customer loyalty” as “amount spent on GemStore”! :p

Don’t mind though. Fingers crossed.

all are a bad idea, you need both veteran and newbies in a beta to kitten the difficulty of something new.

bin in plenty of beta’s, some bad, some really good, some good at the start.
one thing i always love to do to beta’s like this, to exploit flaws in a map and see if i can get past walls and walk right through objects, best part is when i know a way to crash the game. :P

i barely hit the 4K AP yet i am more skilled them most necro players, i see the AP more as a measurement to see how much they are addicted rather then their player skill.
saved more players then died, was seen as unskilled yet saved a whole group from dying, a group with at least 10K AP each.

AP = addiction
