Bamboo isn’t probably exclusive to Cantha you know. It’s not as if the plant is impossible to find outside Asia in our world too.

In fact, am I wrong or is there bamboo growing in the cliff map where the Zephyrites are docked? This place isn’t in Cantha.

The problem here is that there are several key spots in this puzzle, that a team can hold FOREVER. It is impossible to pass that point. And some of these guilds camp such a spot all day, just to be annoying and score cheap kills. No matter what army you bring to the well for example (see screenshot I posted earlier), you will all be dead by the time you reach the top. You can’t stealth your way past it either.

Well if they can hit you with AoEs, you can hit them back with the same skills.

Still I do not like that choke point and a couple others.

You read it badly. Forcing OCD completionists to subject themselves to open world PvP won’t make them like it. But having some people that didn’t try PvP yet get a hand at it and find they have fun doing it will.

Which is one of the reason there are achievements in the first place : to gently nudge players to try everything a game has to offer.

Buy a PvP salvage kit in the mists and salvage them with it. You can use the kit outside the mists too if you want and it counts for PvE monthly salvage achievement :p Didn’t try if it counts for the agent of entropy or daily salvage though.

You might have to play a game or two of PvP in the mists to get enough glory to buy a kit though. Those are very very cheap but still cost a little.

Well you DO proc confusion when you spam backstab to break through limited charge defense :p So it’s not actually free of drawbacks.

The notion of “an introduction to PvP” makes me laugh really. Devon is right, nobody should go into a PvP map without expecting to be killed by the other players.

This achievement goal isn’t to make people love PvP because it’s impossible. Most PvE players do not like getting killed at all and the very nature of PvP requires half the participants to lose in each fight. The goal of the achievement is to nudge PvE players to try PvP and see if maybe they like it after all. If they can get the achievement done, if they die, and die and kill, if they like the rush of adrenaline when you manage to get that kite or plain kill the guys bothering you, then those players will maybe get their hand in WvW next because the fear of PvP they had has been replaced.

And if the player REALLY doesn’t like that after all, well you cannot have everyone liking everything anyway. For those people, I’m sorry but this is a PvP achievement. If you don’t like PvP, don’t hurt yourself trying to make it. I know for sure I don’t even try doing the few achievements in places I don’t enjoy.

If changes have to happen in the SA traits, remember that this is not only our Stealth oriented trait line. It’s also our healing trait line. So instead of adding more traits that deal with stealth and removing the few that don’t, find a GM trait that works on healing or reducing damage somehow :p

Examples :
- “Shadow Form” receive 50% less damage while Revealed
- “Shroud of Distress” heal yourself (1000 HP?) when a blind opponent misses an attack on you (internal CD?)

It’s a very poor design to require players to perform a task they don’t want to in order to reach a goal and it’s certainly not a play-your-way design.

Said like that, any goal in the game should be done after the player do a task they decide themselves.

“Hey ANet, I want to be the owner of every Legendary in the game and the task for that is for me to say “Noob” in LA’s map chat. Hurry up I’m doing it in 10 minutes"

Anet is forcing WvW’ers to do something they don’t like to do….Camp the JP.

Why. Cause there’s only 2 ways a server increases their coverage. Buy it or recruit it from PvE. This gives a server, even one with lower population, a chance to prevent 2 other servers from gaining players. It’s not about the siege or the badges. It’s about making a PvE player’s experience so bad that they never go to WvW again, ever.

You can kill me in WvW 10,000 times, I’ll still show up the next night.

Deny one PvE player a perfect achievement score and they might never come back.

Don’t blame WvW players for playing the game the way they want to.

That’s getting REALLY far fetched.

Most of the players in the JP are there because you can get fights (well, except those that go there only to do the achievement). Fights that don’t even have much influence on the WvW part itself since the map was split from EB.

There’s no proc chance for venoms currently so I’m not sure how you could increase it.

In the betas, a venom buff would last as long as it’s CD but somehow, ANet decided it was a bad idea and made it 30s which is too short to chain use a venom even with the CD reducing trait.

I do have a collection of ideas that could be applied to make Venoms more useful without making them imba with or without venom share. Still working on it in my head though.

Edit: ah, I read your first post version. Disregard comment about proc chance.

I don’t like random chances to proc a venom. Too RNG for serious PvP for my taste. Crits are already borderline.

i joined normal pvp, i dindt wanna join tournament as i think i will pull down others in the team,

People see ranked games as something dead serious ! OMG, we are ranked, there’s a leaderboard ! I’ll annoy my teammates if I don’t tryhard.

WRONG! I see the ranked mode as the ideal mode for, well, for anyone short of the very very top players that might prefer organized tournaments. Ranked mode means the game has a rough idea of your skill level. It also means usually that it’ll find you a game with people of your own skill level too.

If you are someone that doesn’t really cares for the game and plays bad, you’ll get matched with similar minded people more or less so who would have a legitimate complaint about you then since they are supposed to be as “bad” as you? :p

We’re not asking for it to be removed. We’re requesting politely that they not put what is otherwise entirely PvE content in Obsidian Sanctum again. It’s not that much of a request.

An achievement isn’t PvE content, it can be anything. There’s PvP achievements, PvE outdoor achievements, social achievements, tutorial achievements, WvW achievements.

ANet placed a PvP achievement at the end of a PvP zone. It means : “Fight or sneak your way through all the hostile players in that map to find the kite at the end”

You have no right to demand that ANet cut down content for us that like PvP which is why people are annoyed by all the complaints.

I know that will happen but that scavenger hunt is still a good idea. A precursor is far too expensive to be given by chance like that. I prefer my RNG to be applied to many small value items it feels more fair.

Like I keep saying. It’s not the zergs that are the problem. It’s the griefing campers. that just sit there and hold known chokepoints for hours.

Well if you’ve got a problem with that, make a post on that subject instead of missing the point completely. I do agree that some spots in the JP are far too easy to block when you get there first and they could use a tweak.

Corrected correction: Anyone who doesn’t get the recipes for this gear won’t have this gear available as an option if the Trading Post runs out of them (currently a little over a silver each) until they decide to release it again.

And they’ll be forced to use a superior stat set because of that. Life is hard :’(

I like to think that that statement was said independently by one of the WvW guys and not the Living Story team.

But if they do it a third time then I’ll be forced to agree that the don’t know what they’re doing.

They know perfectly well what they are doing. They have that map, completely unique in itself since it’s a pure PvP roaming map at the core, they need to put rewards inside to attract people and make use of it but not something too rewarding so that you don’t really need it.

So they put something desirable but optional in it, say, and achievement. And it works, there’s life in the map at last and it’s some fun PvP and it’s still optional.

And there’s still some QQ but they know it’d happen. See, their desires are at odds with the OCD PvP haters in there. No matter what desirable thing they put inside, some OCD PvP hater will want it and will QQ. The only solution for that QQ problem is to not put anything of value inside at all, ie abandoning the map and the concept. They might as well close the place in fact.

Venom Share is fundamentally an offensive trait that I see more fitting in Deadly Arts than Shadow Arts.

If people want to play a pure venom share support build there’s already incentive enough to go in both trait lines anyway. Deadly Arts to get Residual Venoms, condition duration and reduced Venom CD and Shadow Arts to get Leeching Venoms and Venom Share.

Venom Share is worthy of a Grandmaster status, not because it’s strong but because it’s build defining. Such a shame that when I get 30 in SA it’s more to get another slot to put a 3rd minor trait

The Shadow Arts trait line needs an overhaul, it’s not done correctly and very OP. And Deadly Arts needs some better condition based benefits, it needs a buff in Venom effects I suppose. Residual Venoms does not cut it as a grandmaster trait.

Condition conversion into boon isn’t the same as condition removal. You’ll have to redo the tests.

Warrior’s warhorn isn’t a conversion to buff – its a straight single cleanse.

I considered asking to move Leeching Venoms but Leeching Venoms is a healing trait which fits inside Shadow Arts which is our healing branch.

The merge itself is kind of justified because I don’t see Residual Venoms to be worthy of at trait at all in it’s current form so might as well merge something useful in it.

Well, it’s a mixed bag. Most invisibility forms break on attacking, using an item or using an ability. But not all.

Smoke of Deceit doesn’t break on using abilities or items.
Shadow Dance doesn’t ever break so you can actually attack someone while remaining invisible.
Getting hit or damaged doesn’t break invisibility.
Damaging auras that are already turned on will damage people around you without making you visible.

So as I said, DotA allows you to use abilities, get hit and even attack without getting revealed.

A possible solution for epidemics that comes from a DotA item : make the mobs affected by epidemics immune to it for a certain duration. That way, one cannot exponentially multiply conditions just by casting it alternatively on two mobs.

Why aren’t there groups replacing one warrior by a condition necro then?

Although one possible issue with the idea is Epidemics. This skill might need special cap rules on how much conditions it can multiply because 5 necros would instantly burst kill a pack of trash mobs with that. But the issue is the insane synergy this utility gets in that 5 necro situation, synergy that is only kept in check by the condition cap.

why will i not run with 5 condi necro`s cof 1 and not 5 zerker warriors?

Because it’ll still be a worse DPS than with zerk warriors/thieves.

What about the population that isn’t bothered by the PvP in the JP but didn’t think it was worth it going there? The achievement is for those people too.

There’s a tutorial NPC that explains all the important WvW parts at each entrance :/ How can you make it more obvious short of putting a big non interactive tutorial as a gate before you are even allowed to enter WvW and even so most players will plain forget all it says 5 minutes later.

You could do :

In PvE, when you apply a stack of condition that goes above the cap, the stack that is dropped will instantly apply all it’s damage potential at once.

Should be rather balanced since as far as I know, ANet didn’t balance a single class or build with the condition cap in mind.

ANet, what the hell are you smoking to keep putting it here? There’s a kitten good reason why nobody does Obsidian, and it’s because of griefers, campers, etc.

Obviously, ANet saw that as a problem. The goal for that map IS a PvP fest. And the lack of participants can only be fixed by giving better rewards inside, which is exactly what ANet did. In a way that you cannot exploit those rewards in anyway and you are not losing much by not doing it. It’s genius really.

If you plan that well, the mesmers are already in place and it can be done in a minute or two. If you do that the Friday before the reset, the score might already be fixed anyway and you won’t care much for what you lose or that you might not get back to the EB map.

3 blueprints aren’t much. Now funnel the whole EB zerg through mesmer portals and you are looking at a quick way to get a lot of siege for your server.

The Instant death on this map is too random and favors even more certain builds. It’s not a competitive map.

It won’t be the first map that warrants adapting your build to the situation at hand.

I can’t wait to try it with the Warrior Rampage elite which sux in all other situations :p

It does rip all the boons and conditions, just one at a time. The real mistake is the field duration which isn’t 7s but more like 5s indeed.

The problem of Null Field is that it forces you to stick in a not that big zone to get it’s benefits. You’ll be vulnerable to the other player carpet bombing that space with AoE skills when you use it.

Not when the blue icon rushes at a gate with no siege equipment and gets pinched on two sides by a giant zerg that shows out of nowhere- all the time yelling TimeWarp in map chat as if that would help when you are standing in overlaping red cricles fighting off a sea of reds- urrrgghhh.
I did manage to kill a thief though- but no bag since we were all dead from standing at the gate twiddling our thumbs, including the blue icon I might add.
So what does he do? way points and rushes right back at the same gate- repeat

Well, to me it seems you already learned something : not every blue badge is worth following. Remember his name and pick someone else, maybe on another map.

Null field does NOT remove all conditions. It removes one per second for 5 seconds. Which, if bleeds are applied to you as autoattacks, will probably mean 5 stacks of bleed of total will be lost and that’s all.

WvW is not friendly to newcomers- it is confusing and unclear and just as you think you see where you should go a giant zerg shows up and crushes you.
Then it is all the way back to a way point just to rinse and repeat.

I like the idea of WvW, the reality just sucks

WvW is very friendly to newcomers. Just follow the blue icon around and shot the red names and loot the bags. You’ll pick up the rest over time.
