Funny, I found my Asura more annoying than usual during JP because the camera would jerk around weirdly each time I did a tight jump.
Ah ah, I was sure Meteor Storm didn’t show any red circles :p
Walk out of big red circle on ground?
Not hard, easy to avoid, staff mobility is meh.Just seems like you are trying to put other weapon skills together and think its OP.
I don’t think Meteor Storm makes circles on the ground.
What you see as an attempt to get people into WvW I see as a friendly gesture to those who want a Legendary but don’t like WvW.
What you see as a gesture towards players that don’t want to WvW at all and still want their legendary (since the badges are kind of easier to get than the map completion), I see it as diversifying the AP rewards so that all parts of the game get something. WvW gets tokens and sPvP gets skins which are the only valuable items in sPvP anyway.
Solution is simple, add retaliation to more mobs
Zerk builds will then think twice before they start bursting things.
The best way to counter retaliation when you cannot remove it is to hit so hard that it doesn’t matter :p
The reasons why zerg gear seems overpowered:
(…)
- bosses are immune to CC and other effects, so only damage works against them.
Except that no gear in the game improves CC. So even if you could CC a boss, the guy doing it might as well be full zerk too to improve his DPS. Especially considering a CCed boss cannot attack at all.
Removing Defiant = making zerk gear even more useful than it is currently
Celestial was obsolete.
The solution is simple here. Just make Stealth attacks unblockable and the problem is fixed.
The game needs it badly but instead we get new ridiculously priced items (with juicy RNG) in gem store. Look at Skyrim for example, not only the game looks significantly better (modded of course) but in same amount of time they’ve achieved ~double frame rate. Time to optimize gw2, this is not a looker like Crysis 3 and should run waaay better than it is.
It’s easy to achieve double frame rate when you released your game with most compiler optimizations disabled.
exactly, in pve all you need is zerker gear cause dps is the only viable set to run. the gw2 trinity was supposed to be dps, control, and support. but the thing is, it’s not necessary to run anything aside from dps.
Or rather, there’s no gear that improves control and support so you might as well build them in DPS too.
No, “MR. Bad-kittenhiney”, it´s because DPS is “always” king, making for very boring game play.
Why? You’d rather have a tank, a healer and 3 DPS instead?
DPS is king because the only role to fill in this game is utilitarian DPS builds. You gear up for DPS and select utilities that fit the fight.
And that’s a good thing. What is boring gameplay?
- Oh look, that boss is throwing that attack, quick we need to step out of the circle/dodge/stun him/press those two buttons at once/use a reflect utility.
And killing of tactical combat with 3 “jobs” to chose from to only be left with one is more interesting how?
I´m not trying to defend the crusty holy trinity either, but killing it completely and just have ´zerker´s DPS left over really isn´t a more fun option.
But that discussion is really off topic in here.
Those two roles are boring. Stats do not make a role.
What kind of gear stat is there in the game? Tankiness, healing and DPS.
Will ANet make a dungeon fight that plain requires tankiness to succeed? If yes, they created a fight that needs a tank. So they won’t do it.
Will ANet make a dungeon fight that requires healing to succeed? If yes this fight requires healers. It won’t happen.
See, the removal of the trinity means the removal of the need for tankiness and healing gear in PvE and there’s no way to cut it. PVT gear is like training wheels on a bicycle : all they do is it make it safer and slower to do something you don’t need them for.
And stats do not make roles. Do you need some specific stats to handle the molten lava pots in the dredge fractal boss? No. Do you need toughness to cycle reflect utilities? Neither.
In fact, if we normalized the gear more, ANet could better work to tune the dungeon encounters instead of having to create challenge both for ultra high DPS Zerkers down to unkillable Soldiers.
Wohoo, we got a Bad-kittenhiney over here.

- Oh look, that boss is throwing that attack! Fortunately, with my set of immortality I’m like a rock that does not hurt, does not die, does not move, does not attack, does nothing in fact! I won’t die. But could you please hit the boss a little harder? We’ve been at it for 2 hours already.
I’ve made my choice. The trinity is out, DPS is the way to go.
Berserker gear is the real cancer to the game and removing it will be the single greatest thing ArenaNet will ever do.
Why? Too scared to use the best PvE gear in the game?
1. Map for GvG.
GvG has little to do with WvW anyway.
Zerker works in all dungeons :o
And it’s fine really. Tanks get mitigation gear, healers get healing power gear and DPS get DPS gear. There’s no tanks and no healers in this game so everyone should get zerk (or rampager for condition builds) once they become good.
There’s no gold find in gear. If there was it’d get the same treatment as MF.
kitten …
So now i won’t be able to use MF gear, and link berserker gear in CoF P1?
The removal of MF gear is specially tailored for people like you
I’m an Ele, and I wont lie, I vape form back through portals every chance i get. I agree that they should probably change it so you can’t go through portals.
That said, never has my vaping back into the tower really been a game changing move. It may deny someone a kill, and it may keep you alive a little longer, but if you’re getting dropped in front of your tower chances are that you vaping back in isn’t going to stop the door from going down.
Is vaper forming back into portals annoying? Yes
…is it game changing? No, not really.
Well, try to solo defend a tower as an engineer by killing the flame ram a small 3-4 man group puts down to break the gate. It is game changing.
How about less PVE in a map, and more focused pvp. This company is a joke. Started off solid, absolutely BLOWN it since then. The guy who said people gonna start leaving? Already happening. Look at the forums, hayday there was like 15-20 pages per matchup, now its like 4-5.
Do you think it could be because in the summer, people go in vacations?
No it won’t. All PvE content is doable with the current armor sets, and those armor sets in no way affect your performance against another player. There is no game mode where you are required to get this armor to succeed. You can get it to exceed your performance in previous content and ease future content, but that’s your choice and nothing requires that you do so. If you don’t enjoy maxing out your characters, then… don’t.
Yes right, except that this is not how the stat scaling work. If I level to 100 without changing my gear and go in one of the existing instances and get downscaled to level 35, the game will notice I’m using suboptimal gear and will lower my stats more than if I remain level 80 with the same gear. Same in WvW.
Let’s not even mention the fallacy about “all PvE content is doable in crap gear” because there is a huge performance difference when you get 10 levels outdated gear already.
Don’t insult me, please. It is sad threads get derailed into futile discussions by your prescence time and time again.
Read the above sentence again. The bug I am talking about: correctly using your stunbreaker, but still remaining unable to control you character.
The part where you remain rooted and unable to move while standing is when you use a teleport skill which is notorious for breaking all animations and stealth effect visuals. If you use a stun breaker that doesn’t teleport you, you’ll notice it didn’t do anything at all. You are still stuned.
There’s no excuse for that shoddy implementation of stun breaker skills against Blowout effects. If there is a real technical reason why you cannot use them while you are flying through the air, the MINIMUM is to allow us to stand back up immediately once we land.
I have yet to see a person give a reasonable answer about why raising the max level is so bad. It will affect nothing. All people have been able to say is that there’s no reason to. And you know what? You’re right! This is also a game, an entirely superfluous part of your daily life, excepting enjoyment there is no ‘reason’ to do any of it. Some people enjoy that push to max out their characters, and GW2 has set up a system that they can do so without any effect on those who don’t care for that push. So why does it matter if they do?
It’ll force me to regrind all my armors, weapons and trikets, some of those ascended, all that on 5 characters. This is Bad™

stats at will its not something with low impact on the game.
just think how some professions can change from roaming to siege to zerg to defence with it in www.
The ability to change on the fly the stats of your weapon only is a very low impact feature. Most of your stats come from your trinkets anyway.
Ascended items should have that feature and the same stats as exotics. It would have been the perfect way to make them :’(
The reason some of us may be saying “useless” is maybe because a lot of us already have spare sets of armor, with any stat we would want, the only reason we have or MF set is for the sake of MF, once the stat becomes something else, it becomes nothing but a waste of space, as we probably wont use it if we already have other sets with our ideal stats on them.
Life is hard. Try salvaging them for account based MF bonuses then :o
And I have one of those full MF sets too and I don’t care that it’ll probably be promoted into a stat set I already own. There’s the chance it’ll become a stat set for a different build anyway and ANet will not destroy the expensive skins I put on those items anyway.
I love how people say the sets will become useless. Guys, ANet will not just remove the stat and leave you with 2 stats ascended items! The items will be changed into a new stat set, fixed or selectable as you want or something.
removing magic find entirely as an item stat and turning it into account stat that improved the odds of rare drops for all your characters.
I knew I had a good reason to keep all those RNG fractal rings with Magic Find I got \o/
I swear, half the rings the FotM gave me where the Magic Find types. I got multiples of all of those :’(
Like if thieves didn’t had weapons enough…
Thief is the second worse class as for weapon choice on the same spot as the Elementalist with 3.5 weapons to choose from whereas engineer is the worse at 3 weapons.
If you want to level, go axe or greatsword or both. It WILL be boring.
If you want to have fun, go hammer or mainhand mace and stun stuff again and again. Nothing like charging into a pack of silver mobs with Earthshaker for your team to DPS safely!
This skill is one I’d rather forgo any notion of target and just fire in front of me no matter what. It’s annoying in the current state.
Hammer builds only get that much crit chance on already stunned enemies. Earthshaker is your stun.
According to a 6 month old post of someone that made lots of tests, Earthshaker stuns before applying damage so anything that isn’t under stability should get the 50% crit chance bonus applied.
I kinda disagree with last stand since 90 second cd is so long… i’d go for sure footed esp since you’re running three stances, but that’s just me…
Ah right, maybe but this particular trait isn’t the core of the build I’d say so it can be easily changed. I’ll try to tweak it as you say.
For the same reason that “Fear me!” misses while blinded : ANet trollogic
It’s official, I’ve fallen in love with that build! (well a close one, with fixed sigils on weaponsà
I know the matchmaking is very random but now that I got a hang of it and what to do, my win rate has gone up a lot. Like from close to 0% to close to 100% on my warrior :p
My ranking was probably overinflated from my days of FOTM noob necro winner though so it made it painful to switch to my more enjoyable warrior but now it’s back in business!
That’s because all stun and daze durations seem to be rounded up to the next second. 1.5s of Daze on tactical strike only becomes 1.725s with paralisation and so it rounds at 2s, same than without the sigil.
But take any stun of a round duration and the sigil is an instant +1s duration plain and simple.
Same for Pistol Whip : 0.5s stun by base rounded up to 1s in practice. With sigil it becomes 0.575s stun rounded to 1s too so no effect.
Paralysation works for Tactical Strike in PvE and WvW because the base duration is 2s there.
Headshot : 0.25s base rounded to 1s with or without the sigil.
Basilisk Venom isn’t a stun or a daze it seems. It’s is own thing.

The meta kite achievement is a mixed one. It’s not pure PvE it requires just like the legendaries to handle all (most) the aspects of the game : outdoor PvE, jumping puzzles, dungeons (fractals of the mists) and PvP in the Obsidian Sanctum.
Even if you don’t like the skins, 15g for 5000 points is small? 30g for 10000 points is small? By the time you’ve reached 10000 points you’ll be handed a total of 70g for literally “doing nothing”.
Yes. 15g for 5k points is small. 30g for 10k points is small.
That’s pitiful levels of chump change for achievements that take thousands of hours to get.
That 15g for 5k will be very liked by myself I must say. It’s always nice to get free gold like that.
I doubt 5k AP takes thousands of hours to get btw.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Immobilize Wiki claims it stacks in duration. Obviously the wiki is not 100% accurate, but it seems counter-intuitive to have a weapon capable of negating large portions of your own CC.
The wiki doesn’t claim it stacks in duration. In fact it says the contrary. The part at the top of the page is a direct quote from the game signed “In-game description”. The bug section of the page mentions the effect.
I’m amazed though that you can overwrite a long duration immobilize with a shorter duration one :/
I could see PW working in coordinated zerg busting groups
I can see the image perfectly. The 3 thieves come out of hiding, start their mean (3 targets) AoE cleave attack.
And they all die halfway through the channeling because the 3 targets they hit 8 times each all had retaliation as is common in zergs.
That build uses a Sigil of Paralysation on the S/M weapon set but there’s no skill that gets improved by it in this setup.
Plenty of glowy particle effects on gear cause that when you get transparent like in stealth or with a few PvE effects on you.
Rally memory should be a lot shorter in WvW. There’s nothing more infuriating than starting a 1v1 fight on the side of a zerg that ends 20s later, you are about to down the guy and then he suddenly goes up for whatever reason.
The players/mobs he damaged more than 5s ago shouldn’t count for rally.
I still like S/D better in PvE for the amazing condition removal you get with 10 or 20 points in SA. But that’s mostly dungeon and group play PvE. Outdoor situations aren’t as demanding.
(edited by stof.9341)
I’m talking about the cast time before the stun.
Still what you say about trickery is true, I haven’t given it a chance since the big buffs from last patch.
PW is hardly an on-demand stun when it got such a long cast time. And it’s melee on top of it. If you want an on-demand interrupt you got Head Shot for that.
In my opinion, FS > PW by far because I take S/D so that I get access to FS, and I take S/P so that I get access to Headshot and Blackpowder. Having to deal with Pistol Whip then is a side effect.
Yes it’s true. And then again we got :
FS : steals 2 boons
PW : doesn’t steal 2 boon
FS is a clear winner as for the better skill by far.
Marks are a 1200 range AoE attacks. Having them show a visible delay would only put them on par with the projectile attacks in the game.
S/P is an incredibly powerful set, both in PvP and in PvE.
The “autoattack deals more damage” argument has been proved to be stupid enough.
FS, even after the buff, always dealt about the damage of autoattack, but nobody seems to be complaining about the set because of the dual skill.
Because obviously FS is much better than PW.
FS : tracks your target on first part and second can be used on the move
PW : second place roots you in place making it more likely to miss part of the damage
FS : two strong hits
PW : suicide by retaliation
FS : evades 1/2s at the start of the skill, you can use the evade reactively
PW : evades somewhere in the middle of the effect after a cast time, evades while the target is stunned even
What kind of game allows you to use abilities or get hit during stealth and not get revealed?
DotA
You’ve played a very different DotA than me then, because attacking did break stealth.
Besides, DotA had actual anti-stealth mechanics, unlike GW2. Dust and the true sight gem.
I already explained. There’s forms of Stealth in DotA that do not break on ability usage. There’s ALSO a couple stealths that don’t break on attacks. Also, every single stealths remains active while you apply aura damage like Radiance.
