Either a bounced projectile cannot be reflected again, or the second bounce restarts from the base projectile effect and so just picks up a new combo effect on the way while discarding the original. Or it bounces with the original combo effect attached and cannot pick up another one.

Daggerstorm is also a projectile reflect skill, and the projectiles you reflect can cause a projectile finisher :p

Agreed on reverting the overflow between DS and HP pool in PvE. This is a split that needs to happen.

Except that it was probably changed to prevent necros from surviving fatal falls. Especially when it allows them to exit the normal map area in some places.

Nerfing runes of Lyssa in any of the ways suggested would only nerf warriors (who have the lowest cooldown on their elite: 48s when traited for faster recharge of signets).

Thief got a kitten elite. Untraited even :p Can go down to 36s CD.

Edit : ok, the kitten filter is goind too far! I cannot even say that a skill got a cooldown of 45 now oO. This is beyond ridiculous.

Agreed. Also remember skyhammer will be in the rotation. I really dont want to play this against everyone’s skyhammer build with so much cheese. Same with spirit watch. I want someone to queue their normal builds and adapt to the environment. That shows skill more than the other way round.

You know which map it is when you are asked to enter from the mists the first time anyway. You can probably switch to an skyhammer specialised alt already even with a lock.

I was thinking myself about a couple changes for Venoms to try to make them more interesting and balanced with or without Venom Share.

- All venoms (except Basilisk maybe) are updated to apply 2 different conditions.
- Venom Share only shares the second venom condition to your team and does so on a much bigger radius.
- Great buff on the effect of the first condition to make it worth is used alone
- Venom charges reduced to 1 where it doesn’t matter much like Devourer which doesn’t stack anyway
- Residual Venom effect changed from +1 charge to “Venom charges do not dissipate if the attack is missed, blocked, evaded or invulnerable”

For example, Devourer Venom goes from 2 charges of 1s Immobilize that doesn’t stack to 1 charge of 3s Immobilize and 2s Cripple and only the Cripple part is shared with the trait.

Something will have to be done about the Leeching Venoms trait though. Not sure what. Maybe scale the healing based on how many charges each venom provides so that to balance them all with each other?

That won’t help, TBH. Most players aren’t proficient with multiple classes. If you get 2 players who primarily know Warrior, 2 who primarily know thief, and 1 who primarily knows Mesmer, who’s going to bunker?

And so what? The top spots in the soloQ leaderboards would be reserved to the most polyvalent players? Is it bad?

Having people queue with a role in mind will give us back all the failings of the trinity system with the 50 “full group looking for a tank/healer”.

I can already see it. Hey guys, I know I’m a zerk D/D thief and you expected a bunker but queue times are awful as a DPS you know so I checked the bunker role instead. Instant match find is much better!

Or they should copy DotA where you actually select what you play as after the teams are formed and you can start discussing strategy with your teammates :p

Unless you go from 0 to burning, poison, and twenty five stacks of bleeding in the span of one second, it is impossible to lose half your health bar (assuming you’re not a full zerk ele or thief) in 3 seconds to conditions.

In all technicality, in sPvP a zerk ele or thief has more HP than, say, a Rabid one or a Shaman one because Zerk amulet actually has some Vitality on it.

Well, having mace/shield is an advantage I’d say.

- Sword/shield and mace/mace both “need” the sigil of paralysation. Whereas the sword/mace setup doesn’t have a use for it so it can use one extra sigil

- I’d say that mace/shield is the melee weapon and sword/mace the long range weapon. By long range I mean the set to use to gap close or do stuff at range like tremor, or both. So you do that, gap close, mess up a little with them, skull crack, switch back to sword/mace, final thrust then get ready to get out.

Mace burst skill is a 1/2/3s stun, not daze. With sigil of para it gains like one full second at each stage too. This is the only dangerous warrior skill that has no telegraph at all but it’s range is very short.

But it only counters a couple AoE skills and hardly the most important like, say, Necro staff. Ranger Barrage for example is hardly worthy of the “OP” tag at all yet it’s hurt VERY hard by Retal.

I don’t think any character that appears in Personal Storyline will be killed outside Personal Storyline.

As you can complete events in the Living Story before the Personal Storyline, it would be really confusing, so I doubt they will kill her, Anisse or any important character from there (and I think this is exactly why Caudecus wasn’t the boss we had to kill in his own dungeon).

Corollary, I don’t think any character that appears outside the Personal Storyline will be killed inside the Personal Storyline :p

Jennah is now for all purposes immortal!

Traherne isn’t though.

What about Flamethrower autoattack? Grenade kit into a zerg? Ranger Barrage into a zerg?

There’s very few instances where Retaliation feels like it worked correctly and many instances where it feels like it’s wrong having to do that much effect.

This is really the only good point anyone has made in the thread. Despite the OP’s rediculous claims to the contrary, Dagger builds are the least punished by retal as long as they stick to sneak attacks (which they do). This has the effect of encouraging more people to play backstab builds, which has a net negative impact on the entire GW2 community because of the way Anet implemented unlimited in-combat stealth.

You see, my point has another implication which is why I think Retaliation in it’s current form is broken. People say it’s meant to counter strong multihit attacks. Sure, it does work well for that.

But let’s be honest here, Unload deserves such a harsh counter? Pistol Whip? There is a big problem here with Retaliation as a counter for those attacks. The problem is that those attacks are all rather weak in the first place!

There’s little reason for them to regress. They got contacts with Asura and Charr technology for a sufficiently long time that they can have their own scientists of their own and start creating their own signature stuff :p

Technology is charr? What are the Asuras doing then? :p

Besides, it makes little sense to have the humans basically worthless in the setting of the game. They are supposed to be one of the 5 major powers in the fight against the Elder Dragons. Charrs got a strong military backed by a very advanced industrial society. Asuras are very advanced technologically, the pale tree is basically designed to mass produce intelligent troops immune to the dragon corruption along with their ability linked to the Dream.

And humans got what? They got gods that don’t really talk to them and used to give them strong magic but not anymore. It’s like when the big 5 have a meeting and the Charr ambasadors is like, hey, why do we allow the humans here? And the others say : “well better them than the Scritt, the Hylek, the Ogres or the Quaggans”

Now, they talk about Magitek armors and a military group. Seems like an interesting development for the human lore and role in Guild Wars 2

Yeah I’m sure ANet cannot wait to assassinate the Queen and redo all the personal story quests that reference her, including one where we save her from death at the hands of a Risen maniac. And plain remove Caduceus Manor from the game since the story part just makes no sense without Jennah.

From a game development point of view, the Cantha District existed and was replaced by the great collapse before the game release.

BUT, from a game lore/game history point of view, what existed before the great collapse was not at all related to Cantha. It was called the Arts District officially.

I’ll have to remind people here that a thief can use at best 4 skills before he’s out of initiative (cheapest skill costs 3, init bar =12), other classes can use 8 by using a weapon swap.

Reducing the thief initiative regen is aking or chill preventing others from weapon swaping/atunement swap/kit swap.

A little earlier it was mentioned that the initiative recharge rate of thieves was at one point changed from 1 to 1.33. What if chilled brought it back to 1 for the duration of the chill

I think we can all agree that initiative has different properties and these need to be taken into account when considering what to do with chill but that to simply say “lets not have it affect skills 1-5” when all other classes are affected by it is silly

1 to 1.33 was a nerf. Before thief would regen 1 initiative every 1s, now it’s 1 every 1.33s

GW2 has to compete with MOBAs and I’ve watched MOBA streams of games I haven’t even played and sat at the edge of my seat , OMFG-beaming at all the clutch plays scattered across the battlefield… the difference between that and GW2 is just outrageous. In GW2 the casters seem lucky to even notice a single ‘OMFG’ play in an entire match…

oh yeah, i watched a lot of MOBAs recently because there are so many players like you stating the fantastic side of how fascinating it is to watch on stream.
so i found my self every other day watching MOBAs for 15mins and suddenly snoring away into my dreamland.
i say to myself: “concentrate!! watch it!! if they say, there has to be some truth in it!!” and i go on watching people doing last hits on minions, [aaahhhh….]and snoring away again.

on the otherhand, yesterday was an amazing to watch tournament. even my cousin who is not a single bit into gw2 has enjoyed watching this tourney and was amazed especially about the 5 last matches

…but… just my 2 cents…

You must have watched the wrong games. Most pro level games in DotA are VERY aggressive right from the first 10s :p

The problem is the haysack, not the needle.

Oh and the cursor gets invisible when you move the camera which makes is extra harder to find it in a big fight :p

Maybe IF our attacks (for condi weapon sets) also deal increased damage? Because pretty much that’s all there is, without stacking bleeds / poison there is no damage going (not everyone plays dhuunfire).

Maybe you shouldn’t expect doing much direct damage if you just use a Rabid amulet which is pretty defensive in itself :p Want more? Try the Rampager amulet maybe?

As expected, the thieves have their panties in a bunch. Notice how all of them are “Oh, no, chill would totally destroy us because it would be so much more powerful on us than on any other class because reasons and bla bla bla”

I’m just pointing up that initiative and weapon cooldowns are different enough already you cannot just say : “Initiative is the thief CD so Chilled should affect it” without some serious justification.

Also, I’m not playing a thief in PvP. Warrior is more fun.

I want them to change the daily PvP capture the point task. I don’t like staying on a point with others just so that I can get that part done :/ But it’s entirely possible when playing well to go by through 4-5 games without capturing a single point and still having your team wining.

Chill should affect initiative regen the same way it affects weapon skill recharge for other classes, period.

For the “mailbox full” hint, I had the issue and I solved it by deleting all the NPC/System mails. They seemed to be interfering with the hint. You need to have your mailbox full of 10 player generated mails only.

For the broken armor hint, there’s already a hint for the damaged armor (yellow shield), make sure you got an armor part at the broken status (red shield) for the second hint.

Also,while i agree retal,clones,whatever are not best designed,thieves should literally not complain about almost…anything…whole class is badly designed with worst stealth design ever seen in any MMO so far.

Yeah, thieves shouldn’t complain that their non stealth included weapon sets (S/P and P/P) get destroyed by Retaliation! It’s almost as if exploiting that “broken” stealth was the only way to go.

If you want to judge this game by the standards of an RPG then the system in place is fine. But, if you want to judge it by the standards of an esport MOBA it is not fine.

You mean like in DotA 2 where you right click the enemy once and your hero will autoturn, automove in range and autoattack to victory until the target is dead?

Maybe you were thinking of FPS and not MOBA?

Also, this game ground target AoEs (Necro staff) aren’t OP enough for you? We need to nerf every other skill in the game?

If you cannot get those two, get a Zerk back piece. The stats on it don’t matter THAT much and you’ll not have to replace it when you switch to an actually useful power based build :p

But seriously, just get the exotic rabid backpiece from the Orr karma temple.

Condition damage is countered by all the things that counter power damage, but with the addition of condition removal… and yet somehow, having MORE options to deal with something makes it… harder to deal with it?
I don’t think I quite follow your logic.

I wasn’t aware that Toughness, Protection and Weakness countered Condition damage. This new insight will allow me to soar to the top of the food chain in PvP!

They’ll always cry for nerf against builds they don’t want to adapt to or builds they don’t know how to counter.

When ‘adapting’ and ‘countering’ is entirely revolving around ‘having stability/stunbreaks’ and in the end only grossly limiting what specs you can actually play…

Yeah, no.

Funny, I think the same thing when my whole builds at time revolve around countering conditions and squeezing a tiny bit of utility/damage now and then.

Venom Share biggest problem is the small radius and the fact it’s not that strong with it :p

And yet venoms and venom share got constantly nerfed in the beta :/ And we got no real buffs since then.
