I feel like the classes that are good at condis can throw out lots of them really fast. Thief/ware have maybe 1-2 condis that are spamable.
You call them auxiliary conditions, to me they are conditions. Sure, I’ve seen a lot of dps negated by weakness, but I play a burst thief and have minimal condi Reno al so I very rarely stand in condis.
I feel like direct damage can’t keep up with condi spam. Thief/ warr/ele don’t really have lots of condi spam. Necros are getting nerfed? Maybe they could just rework the rest of the classes to keep up with them. Still there is engis and rangers. Guards have lots of burning but easy to clear 1 condi. Engi hits you with nades and your toast or marks from necro
I think the match maker had problems when there is not a lot of people doing tournies.
I got put up against number one team while solo queuing and I’m not even on leader boards. Jumpers team crushed us.
If I was given a popup ahead of time telling me that there were no players my rank to fight and that they would have to pair me up against the number one team I would have declined.
I think it’s time anet put these in the game. It’s so annoying having to rebuild and redo all sigils/runes, leaving your match to do so.
You should be able to choose the template you want before the match starts or even after a death (hot joins only on death).
With the addition to sky hammer which requires a completely different build than other maps I find it very annoying this isn’t in the game yet.
Can you please push your devs a little harder this month and put this task at the top of the priority list ? It would be a huge boon to everyone who plays spvp.
Currently, condi is king. Are there any plans for anet to balance this out?
Engi, ranger, necro are all rediciulusly strong when built around condis.
As a thief if like to see builds like the x/30/30/x/x be able to compete in damage against the condi builds.
Condi thief is ok in hot joins but in tpvp pretty bad. If we can’t have directe damage buffed, can we get our condis buffed?
I play thief so I mention thief but every class had option of condi or dd.
Condis are clearly more powerful than direct damage at the moment. Even if your class is built for condi clearing, you just can’t keep up.
Anyone else feel this way or is it just me?
I prefer 10/30/0/0/30 build. High burst with moderate survivability.
Burst lands way more often because of the daze. Only thing I don’t like is poor condi removal.

I main a thief. The only way to stand and fight a condi build anything is by going 30sa. Huge waste of dps and against a good player it will be a stalemate. Burst/power build thief gets owned by condi build because they just stun break and then apply 4-6 co do in like 2 hits and we die.
I’m not asking for nerf to condis. I asking for buff to burst/power builds. Currently, condi builds don’t have a natural enemy. It takes more than 1 person to deal with them..

He did not use runes and vengeance. He never got to vengeance because it wasn’t up. I downed him. I bp’d. He ported to the doorway. I ran to him and bp’d just as his friend came to revive. It was 100% a hack. No one else has seen this before in hot joins?
I entered my first tourney ever on my OP necro. I figured maybe I would get to play against some noobs since I’m only in the 90%’s.
Instead I got to fight against jumpers pre-made. Last I check he was rank 1-2. I was not grouped with anyone. We got destroyed.
I’d rather not play than be matched against the #1 team. I’m not that serious lol. Match making logic needs to be changes IMO.
There was no one else around. This was in the middle of the boat on capricorn. The 2nd warrior walked in later and revived him because he magically ported over to the doorway where he could be seen from the inside where he was about to be stomped.

He died, but then because of his hacking he was revived by a teammate and then I got killed by both of them.
The other guy who was doing it a few days died tho, but because of his hacking he was able to vengeance every single time.
I don’t know how they are doing it, but there is a teleport lag hack people are using.

My first chest I got a Zenith dagger. I wanted to upgrade my wvw weapon first. So I used it in wvw on my thief.
I just got another chest that has every other single weapon skin EXCEPT dagger.
I wanted to get some pvp daggers now but it looks like it’s broken.

So far only downside to playing the 30/30/10 necro is that you can disengage from getting zerged. You can get away from 1-2 guys tho with the right placement of spectral wall and some fear, etc. I am running spirit walk also so the swiftness helps too.
Possibly strongest class in GW2 atm.

Imagine the thief teleport on a warrior, exactly that like.
100% sure he was a warrior. 100% sure they don’t “teleport” away from me until AFTER I drop the black powder.
I’ve seen even some warrior teleport 2-3 times while downed, not just once. During the match these players play normal.
I’m thinking maybe this is some sort of lag or packet hack…

Your thief gets the 1v1 farming perk. You can give up your cheesy stealth and stupid burst damage for team utility if you want, but you don’t get to have both.
the way I see it as a thief you either choose to be a 1v1er (0/30/30/10/0 or variants thereof)
or burst (10/30/0/0/30 or 25/30/0/0/15) which is not good at 1v1 with poor condi removal

4s revealed needs to go IMO. There really isn’t any point to it. D/d got killed by it and so did s/d stealth builds.
Thieves can’t run 10/30/30/0/0 anymore and insta gib people.
I’m sure the new 10/30/0/0/30 build will get nerfed next patch. Just like s/d and d/d after people started using it.
I think anet needs to make spvp players able to gain xp, gear, and everything u can get in pve while doing spvp. I honestly have no clue how to get that done but the rewards and progression in spvp are painfully slow. The only thing I look forward too are the finishers. Otherwise, I could careless what rank I am.
There’s 2 sides to this story. Pvers don’t come to spvp because they don’t get any rewards for thier main style of play. Pvpers don’t pve/wvw because they don’t get rewards for pvping that allow them to wvw/pve.
The pvp reward system is screwed up no matter what kind of player you are. If they fixed it this would be a much better game for everyone.
I didn’t look at your build but the d/p 10/30/0/0/30 build is pretty good at dropping bunkers.

We do see teams shift their comps around for certain maps (and it seems to be very effective), would this not be along the same lines?

The build is hilarious. You don’t actually fight people. You just pull them into a trap that’s on a panel.
Obviously, only works on skyhamner.
I really like this map.
At first I hated it because I didn’t understand it, but now I love it.
It’s about using the environment to win instead of just zerging and assisting and killing people.
Don’t take the map out of rotation, it’s fun.
It also promotes build diversity. I run a completely different build for this map.
Traps + SW instead of the usual 10/30/0/0/30 burst build with shadowstep/refuge/assasin signet etc.
It’s a good change from the usual gameplay, IMO.
Traps and Scorpion Wire…
I have made a lot of people mad with this build. Sad they are taking skyhammer out of rotation. I like it.
Basically, you stay away from point B and the cannon. You roam A and C. Put traps on the panels that disappear. Then you pull the enemy into that trap with scorpion wire. Needle trap will immob them and trip wire will KD for 3s. The panel will explode and they will die.
You pull them into the trap is the key. You can also just walk on the panel and stand close enuff to the edge and use SW but that takes more practice and it’s a little harder. The trap stops the enemy in the middle of the pull and they just fall.
When they have stability just use S/D to strip it.
Use perma stealt from D/P to lay your trap and throw the SW from stealth and they will have no clue what just happened to them.

I’d go d/p and not use s/d. It got nerfed too hard.
This guy is clearly complaining about wvw.
WvW stealthing every 3-4s is crucial for landing backstabs every 3-4s.
In sPvP it’s a whole different story.
Skyhammer is a terrible map for everyone imo.
Ranger pets pretty much useless with the jump pads.
I stole from a necro and then feared him off the cannon and he splatted.
Remember that good thieves will stealth every 3-4s. Interrupt the heart seeker.
Gs #5 does interrupt stealthing players. I hate that ability. Interrupts me a lot even while stealthed.

The best thing you can do is go to spvp and duel other thieves on a dueling server. Get some practice.
Scholar runes offer higher dps than ogre assuming you don’t get hit.
But the 10/30/0/0/30 build is kinda fun. Been using d/d with it but really any weapon set other than p/x goes well with it.
Condis are cleared by what was last applied. Whatever condi is the most recent is cleared first. Anet stated this in one of the sotg.

Yuirs, you must play wvw only. Mh dagger does not need a nerf at all. In wvw it seems strong because 90% of thieves are glass cannon build or at least running full berserkers.
Spvp thief backstab is pretty much a joke unless you have 20 stacks of might from signets of power. Which means you are running 4 signets and no good utilities.
I haven’t been playing as much because I’m frustrated with the way anet has been patching lately. Every patch it’s a huge nerf to one play style or another that uses to be a fairly popular style. This patch s/d got kitten d. Shortbow got kitten d over 2 patches.

Why any of these nerfs? Thieves are not OP. They are strong in wvw because of pve gear stars and the high crit rate/power they can get combined with superior mobility and fact that 90% of wvw players are noobs.
I seriously enjoy playing diablo 3 more than gw2 atm because of anet and thier patches.

I have been using hard to catch as my auto stun break. Works nicely except vs basi venom. You have condi removal and regen in stealth.
Sb as second weapon for when you need quick escape.
It doesn’t work against basi venom. Every other stun or cc, yes.
Been using this with a condition build and haven’t been running any stun breaks because I’ve got hard to catch. It’s really cool except vs basi venom.
Pretty sure this is a bug, but this is anet we are dealing with. They could go either way on it.
