It’s apt of prep work and they don’t last forever, it’s cool for sure but not totally OP. Also I feel like simply having HT is strong enough, sure it’s destroyable but if someone kills it your using it wrong.

I would like to see more stability though, I mean warrior and guardian have access to 10-15 sec of stability and we get a crappy few seconds… lame.

I disagree that winning is the only thing that matters. Having fun is.
So say that you could win more pvp matches by just sitting on a point, seeing very few fights, and “taking one for the team”.

Sure sometimes you would do that, but that is why I see a lot of folks gather in the middle of a pvp battlefield and just go for slaughter v objectives. Sure it irritates some players, but there is a sense to it too. It just is more fun getting into fights!

Well Perplexity is PvE/WvW only so no point camping, but to address your comment. If its your job to sit on that point you kitten well better! tPvP is a TEAM “sport” and ill argue that it is more “fun” when played properly. Another football analogy (I watched the games last night) Sometimes a quarterback may want to run the ball in for a touchdown, because its more fun/glorious but they would never do it unless it was the best possible choice for… you guessed it winning.

PvP is based around competitive play and in a competition the “fun” comes from playing together… and winning.

To be fair all of the new healing skills pretty much suck in comparison to what was there, each class has its “best” healing skill and the others are relativity dumb. The only acception that i can think of is guardian, and maybe thief. Honestly even is A.E.D was fixed i would still use HT or Med Kit

Im a fan of PvE and WvW being in the same balance, it allows you to have something different than sPvP. Also crit damage is out of control atm, you know it, I know it…. let them fix it.

I play SD Engi and i can pretty much instagib whoever I want with my 115% crit damage and 3500 power, and there a builds that have better damage than i do.

An unexpected side effect of this however is that condition specs are going to be even more powerful in comparison.

In order for this skill to be worth while it needs to be an instant cast, and be able to be cast while stunned/disabled. The next patch will half the cast time and I think buff the heal (or how it scales with Hpower)

Even with a .25 sec cast it’s still junk because you have to use it while your getting focused and your more than likely stub locked for the kill so… Maybe it has it’s usefulness in pve to counteract intsakill mechanics?

I love the “Perplex is NOOB” posts people think its cheap… let me ask you something, What reason could you have for not being as absolutely strong as you can be in PvP. Gimmicky or not Perplexity is badkitten.

As an engineer that doesn’t use perplexity runes, if I see another engineer kill me in a 1 on 1 battle with those runes, I discredit them entirely. I’m not mad, I just shrug it off and I continue on, because I know without those runes the outcome may have been different. Having 12 stacks of confusion on me through out the fight is a huge disadvantage.

That being said, in my opinion perplexity runes are probably the best runes you could have on your Engineer.

Even he thinks perplexity runes are extremely over powered in a one on one battle, and are more acceptable in a 2 or 3 on 1 battle.

So, I actually run a SD build but if I did conditions I would go perplex. It’s PvP the honest fact is that some builds/setups are simply stronger. If you were coaching an NFL team and you were going to the Super Bowl, would you play your 2nd string?

I get the whole “this fight would have gone differently, if” or “they only won because of” argument but the truth is, they won… And winning IS fun. I like unique builds just as much as the next guy but in a PvP battle only one thing matters, duh winning!

All they need to do to fix this is allow ascended gear AND mats to be sold. I think this will happen but it’s going to be a while, I for one am just sitting on my mats (I made a bank toon just for ascends mats) when they allow me to sell them I’m going to move fast and make some cash lol.

The difference between ascended and exotic is laughable anyhow, it will have almost no herring on the outcome of a battle. The more skilled player will still win. And IMO the armor skins are lame, I like mine better.

Hey guys, I have been playing GW2 for a while but I never focused on crafting, with the ascended armor becoming more commen I feel like I need to invest now. The main question I have is simply how much gold would it take to level one craft from 0-500, I know it will very depending on server but I’m just looking for an overall average.

Also how long did it take you to gather the mats for your ascended gear, what’s the best way to farm?

Overall my point is that engineer is top tier dps, well above mesmer and thief. The idea predicated in some of the above posts was that engineer was almost last place in terms of dps ranking, all I’m really trying to say is this is simply not true.

Also I’m a server admin (RL jobs… Ugh) and I can tell you that while it’s not impossible to hack into antes servers, it would be quite a feat to find your data and change just that. Also there would be no “reporting” needed as Anet would be instantly aware of any changes made to server side data by a 3rd party.

Exploits are one thing, hacking is so improbable that it borders on impossible. It’s not hacking there’s absolutely no argument there, sorry.

Man there is a lot of here say and assumption going on here, to try and clarify what I mean I was talking about sustainable DPS not just a burst combo. Sure s/x ele has crazy burst but throughout a dungeon or event staff will far surpass the DPS. Shatter Mesmer have a little spike but Mesmer is a utility class, I was being sarcastic when I was asking who you ran with.

If you compare a 5 second burst, or 10 seconds for someone to kill a giant that’s not dps. I argue that DPS who ident even be measures under ideal circumstances but rather average circumstances.

I forgot to factor in the +10% tool belt recharge but remembered straight after posting. :P

I could continue arguing points, but truth is your points are as valid as mine.
Opting for different traits/utilities has trade offs, but I stand by my selection as I think it better suits my playstyle.

I encourage players to sub utilities where they see fit, because ultimately it probably better suits their playstyle, regardless of potential performance.

I won’t criticize your build, if it works for you then it works, right.

I also want to add that mod ammo is a really nice trait, sure all by yourself it’s only going to consistently add 4-6% damage but often times yiur fighting a target with others and this trait can sassily add 20%+ damage. Sitting duck IMO is inferior to rifle mod, I co pair it to rifle mod because I consider rifled berrals to be irreplaceable for my playstyle, range = survival.

If I read this right you think ENG is last place in terms of DPS? Fot PvE!? This is not a true statement at all, ENG is currently tied with Warrior for the #2 spot in DPS (albeit harder to play than WAR (squishy)) The #1 going to Staff ELE currently. Its all about the gear, ENG really shines at top tier DPS and with the changes to crit damage our ranking “should” stay about the same.

Now if your running a hybrid build that relies a bit on conditions ill bet your DPS is ranked close to the bottom but that’s true of any class/build that’s not optimized properly.

I read a topic in the Necromancer forums about Engineer having faster/more sustainable condition application. My main is necro but i have been wanting to play my engi again. Is this true, if so whats the current PvP Condition spike meta build (if one exists)

I have heard HGH builds are great but i can only even manager to maintain like 9-12 stacks of might, thoughts?

The whip nerf was just a re work, they never said it would cost “more” initiative just that the cost would be split. Also having the stun and the bust split could be usefull in situations.

The only nerf I saw was the nerf to choking gas and Poison is getting changed across all classes.

Ill agree that THF has some issues but its really good at its job… being annoying!

For WvW? Tbh I wouldnt bother, and I main a ranger and play WvW most times. Better off with another class that a commander will ask for.

well in wvw 80% of zergz use hammers, with a healthy dose of meteor showers and veils.
=> you got 4 choices, and 3 if you want to make lots of bags.

Im rolling a ranger for my 5th alt and im planning on running a condition bunker build, this is for WvW primarily small groups and roaming. I just had a few questions about current builds, I was thinking of running a spirit build is this still strong or is there a current “meta” for condition rangers.

Also is there a current best player? someone i should be watching stream or looking at old videos?

You can hardly call Spirit of Nature “Changes” a nerf, it now does what the tool tip said it does and 320 HPS is still quite strong.

I don’t think they nerfed rangers at all, more like fixed some unintended bugs, one of them was beneficial. Spirit builds will literally not even see a difference.

If you build for conditions then yes… A little. Overall pow/crit will still be king, even in the live stream they said berzerker will still be BiS for dps

I think P/S will remain a fave for condition specs, especially in PvP. Us rifle useres are excited though, also interested to see what combos splitting up the cool downs will open up.

Remember they are nerfing damage by 10% across the board too so the impact isn’t quite as great.

As for me, I am thinking that condition damage 6% and bleed on swap might be the best combo for a condi engie.

To be specific they are nerfing critical damage bonuses from gear not overall damage, and the major focus of the “reworking” seemed to be on runes not sigils. Maybe i missed something buy that’s what i understood from the live stream.

Also the condi sigil idea you had is great, kudos.

Overall this was a minor hit to supply drop, not many engis have room on there bar for net turret anyways. It just sucks that we don’t have access to another form of CC like knockback or knockdown, stun, chill, imbob, or daze… Oh wait

IMO this change does nothing to effect playstyle at all, even if you ran net turret.

^well that is certainly unorthodox lol I hope it works out well for you.

The 2 sigil this is going to be great, they also said that sigil would not share cool downs with anything but themselfs, I.e. Sigil of air and sigil of fire could proc at the same time. I don’t know what the best combo would be heat but overall it’s a win for my SD build.

I’m also afraid of the new ferocity stat.

Terrormancer is still strong as hell, there have been some nerfs but overall the build was unedected. You lost a bleed stack from MoB but really it’s just one, weakening shroud was a bit but with your trait setup it’s a wash.

MMs have been seeing some love and a lot of necros play them in tPvP but that doesn’t make terrormancer any less effective.

Perplexity runes are nice, that setup is hard to beat 1v1 if your good at it. Also scavenger runes are good with an HGH build (I run mine with a mostly dire condition bunker)

I run a SD build on my engi and it’s a blast. I’m a little glassy atm but you can build a bit at mire while your learning. My mobility is probably my favorite part of the build.

In a team fight people switch targets often, overall it’s a good tactic you do to want to get tied down to someone and waste time on them while they are immune or too far away. You can manipulate this tactic to stay alive as an engi simply with effective positioning. Use rocket boots… You will thank me lol

But on more constructive feedback, here is my advice anet:

Allow mortar to be affected by turret traits and+900 range from rifled turret barrels.

What would it do?: Allow turrets to be placed from a safer place while actually still able to hit the enemy. I can’t say how many times I have been forced to put the mortar right in front of a tower gate just to have it destroyed by aoe. And if placed any further it cannot hit anything.

Allow the mortar to crit and scale with power
What would it do?: Skill #1 would actually be dangerous and it combined with the previous suggestion would allow for new builds: The rise of mortar engineers.

This skill is an elite skill and should be treated kitten. Its great that the jamming on mortar was fixed but it still needs a lot of work, and I feel these two will make a huge impact on the skill (with still an easy counter of just coming up to it and destroying it in 2-3 hits). Trust me anet, I’m an engineer.

Leveling Build

Hello to all.

Is there a good way for an Engineer to Level in terms of focusing on a specific aspect? Is there an “easy mode” leveling build like there has been for other classes?

Bomb Kit = easy mode
The other utility’s are up to you (I recommend Rocket Boots and/or Slick Shoes)

The Idea is to constantly be moving, pull a large pack of mobs and kite kite kite leeaving little suprises for them as they chase you.

First 10 points into Explosives for Forceful Explosives
Next 10 points into Tools for Speedy Kits
Then just putt 10 points into Alchemy for Invigorating Speed

The rest of the points you can place wherever you like for leveling it wont matter and it largely depends on what other utilities you take.

Animations are one thing but all ground targeted abilities are stealth for every class. If they could see where we were about to cat the mark that would be game breaking.

I commend the effort but that’s not the right solution, unfortunately.

If you make Revealed 10s, you are removing the Stealth Attack from being viable and breaking a lot of Thief builds. You did not address this issue.

What needs to happen to reduce the reliance on stealth is to change Stealth Attack to Flanking Attack — meaning it doesn’t require stealth and can only be used if attacking from side or back of target. Of course, you get 360 degree flanking status when in stealth, thus you can use the skill even if you’re in front of the enemy.

If Anet do this, there will be more builds not relying on stealth because even if they make stealth non-stackable and 10s revealed like you suggested, it wouldn’t matter much because it will not lock us out from our best source of burst damage.

We can adapt when it comes to survivability, what we cannot handle is the continue nerfing of our damage, our broken animations, and buggy skill/trait functionality.

Yeah be sure to add in a CD (a long one) and your golden “Backstab” should just require a back… its not called “Stealthstab”

Yeah, nothing worse than a 2s cast that’s our only real CC (aside from the rather lackluster Basi Venom) that involves holding you hands above your head like you’re trying to hold up Simba and sing “The Circle of Life” before a large dark pulse moves out in a radius with a fear that doesn’t match the wiki description and can be stunbroken fairly easily since we have so few CCs.

Um… why would THF need more CC!?

If all the daze/stuns you had were not enough in the first place (and they are) explain what you would use it for as a perma stealth class. IMO having the ability to restart a fight at will or escape almost any fight that’s not going your way far outweighs some extra CC.

My comment was really intended as sarcasm, IDC if THF gets access to a fear (it adds to the annoying) but overall its not broken or anything.

Depends on the build.

The more cc you have, the easier it gets.

True but the more CC you have the more open you are to counters by good players, its harder on Necro but a good THF or ENGI will dance around your CC all day and your left with nothing.

Overall War is ok, not weak or anything but as a whole class certainly not OP. HS is a bit strong but if you nerf that it causes HUGE problems for warrior as a whole.

Also note that this change is aimed at PvE, if it has adverse implications in a PvP environment it would be easy enough for Anet to exclude PvP from the change.
