Even if it is “50/50” (which I don’t believe, because the sample size is obviously small and flawed and does not take into account real Pvp players.), 50/50 is BAD.

Having HALF of your players forced to do something that completely craps in the face of skill and competitive balance is not good, that’s BAD.

I’d even go so far to say that 50/50 is more like 30/20/50, 30% not caring either way, 20% loving it, and 50% hating it, but of course I can’t prove this basic human nature to the flawed survey system that humans invented.

All the hardcore WvW people I know got their ascended sets very quickly and just moved on to play the game.

You’re obviously lying, or are confusing pve players with wvw players. The hard core wvw players I’m surrounded with do not have a full set of armour, or even close to a full set of armour.

Ascended gear has no impact on core WvW playerbase.

GvG/scrim/open field fight between a fully ascended guild, versus a fully exotic guild. And that’s just one hypothetical. Thank you for understanding.

Therefor it is completly optional

ps: U used a warrior as an example……..u can be in Masterworks and still be fine in any of the end game content using that class.

Reasons why Skyhammer needs to be removed

- Randomly take no fall damage.
- You can be stuck under the map for 30-60 seconds longer than you should be because of the above.
- Skyhammer bypasses the core mechanic of the game, dodging.
- Most users hate the map, why are they being forced to play this?
- Does not promote skillful play, promotes whoever can spam the most pushes/launches and gets lucky.

You gave the elites a 1 second “recharge” before being able to end the transformation, to avoid accidentally ending it by double tapping or whatever.

Why has Death Shroud not been given the same treatment?

Death Shroud needs 0.5 or 1 second where you cant accidentally cancel it instantly.

GW1 AI is the best AI in any game, ever, and probably for a long time to come.

They were constantly improving it:
- Spreading out from aoe
- Kiting
- Using their skills effectively
- Targeting specific classes with certain skills
- Interrupting skills
- The Charr frontliners in EOTN body blocking for their casters

And probably some more. They were ALWAYS tweaking these.

No game will ever have AI anywhere near as good as GW1 for a long time.

Yes all AI can be predictable and hard countered to an extent, but GW1 team did its best to make the AI not suck.

- Diminishing Returns (what a joke)
- Consistent lag on ANet’s side of the world, America refuses to provide good internet connections. (Level3, ALTERNet, both are ruining many gamers experience of GW2)

- Cheaters (hacks)
- Stockpiling limited time items to make a killing in a few months, market is broken.
- No guild halls

Bannering keep lord in eotm is broken

What makes warbanner so much better than all the other rez skills?

Cast time and benefits outside of being a res skill (pulsing boons, plus party-wide stability and swiftness if you pick it up), so you can equip it for far more uses outside of being a keep lord res. Unlike Ranger elite spirit, it can’t be killed prematurely either.

Except the time it takes to pick up + the cast time for swiftness or measly 3 second stability makes the entire endeavour pointless, hence 0% of warriors do it. Also by picking it up you lose all damage output and defensive utility, hence 0% of warriors pick it up.

So no, there is no real benefit compared to other classes, people just hate on warrior because its become the ‘cool’ thing to do, sickening.

The dagger skin without the tacky hearts would be utter beast mode to use, the design is flawless.

And alas, hidden behind overpriced mega gamble RNG box of unluckiness.

Reduce the gem prices of the entire gem store, or set a proper cost, and I’d actually spend money in the gem store.

$10 for a character slot? No thank you. Maybe $2, and I’d buy heaps of them, as would others.

$5 for an extra inventory bag slot? No thank you, that’s ridiculously overpriced, haven’t bought a single one. $0.50 or $1 each and I’ll fill up ALL my characters, so would a lot of other people.

And that is just an example.

You would actually make more money from the gem store this way, instead you’d rather turn people away. Your loss honestly, its mind boggling.

The eotm style colour match ups will either end up fixing ‘coverage wars’ by being implemented across the board, or wvw will be destroyed by ANet neglecting it again from here on out.

They’ve taken a good step to show how the game can be made competitive again, whether they act on it only time will tell.

Oh believe me, I’m all for server pride, SOS is the greatest server in GW2, but I have no issues merging with other servers like in these colour match ups. If there is one thing I want from competitive game modes in any game, it is for an even playing field with skill being the deciding factor, 80 vs 20 is not fair.

You could just turn that around and argue that WvWers just have to learn the basics for dungeons or whatnot and then they’ll have a good time … they just need a little push and meet the right people.

The last time I played, WvW was just a lot of mindless zerging and useless running around. Commander orders people to run from point A to point B, everybody runs, we get overrun by enemy zerg, respawn, run again, die, etc etc. We spent more time running then actually doing something useful like capturing something. Might’ve been due to a bad commander, but still …

I don’t know whether some of those mighty WvW/PvP people have ever taken a step back and started reflecting on themselves and their behaviour, because I get the feeling the jerk density is pretty high amongst PvP players.

Anyways, I don’t think that anyone would win anything, if PvE’ers were forced even more into WvW.

The difference being that WvW players don’t come and whine on the forums for it to be made easier/removed from legendary requirements for no reason. The only time this is mentioned is after a pve player whines about the minimal wvw required for legendaries. WvW players simply adapt to the mode and get it done.

When a commander is driving a group made up entirely of militia (people not in teamspeak, so no coordination in fights) that’s generally what happens, point A to point B, and get wiped by a larger group or guild groups.

As someone who has played an extensive amount of all 3 GW2 game modes, PvE and sPvP are far worse in terms of jerks and abused/hatred.

A large % of PvE players spew forth words like STD covered knives if someone dares to kill a champion if the train isn’t there yet, if someone isn’t aware of the paths/skips in a dungeon, if someone isn’t using specific weapon sets, not using the ‘right’ consumables. Not to mention the amount of abuse in map chat at teq/wurm/marionette and Lions Arch. It is atrocious.

SPvP gets ragers and people who think they’re super elite and abuse the strangers on their team for no reason, but that’s the same with all competitive environments anywhere, you’ll always come across those people.

WvW being a competitive area can also suffer from the same types as SPvP. Personally on my server, I’ve found it to be very few and far between, our server is very welcoming of new players, and is willing to teach the basics if someone wants to learn, no server can do well without their casual players. A server that pushes their casual or pve players away will never do well, and also makes things exponentially harder for themselves.

There are a few logistical details to resolve beyond ‘throwing the big switch’ .

That hasn’t bothered the GW2 team ever, the most recent example being EOTM, look how many glaring bug fixes came out in the first few days.

Before that was probably the fractals update, bugs that forced people to restart their attempt!

I’d rather get my levels now and fix it later. It’s probably going to be released with bugs, may as well get it out of the way now.

I’ve been getting on my alts again recently in light of this eventual change, turns out so is the rest of my guild, so no one has any siege mastery let alone leech/fortitude. Still not worth playing an alt until its account bound.

I see a big problem a couple of other people have already mentioned but most have ignored. There are big differences between the mechanics behind PvE and WvW (duuh …), so these two can’t be compared as easily as it is done here. Simply saying that Rank X should be required, just because you assume it’s just as annoying for PvE’ers, as getting map completion was/is for you, is not a good idea.

Forcing people to do WvW will lead to longer queues, as there is a set number of players that can be on each map at the same time. This will probably spoil the fun for WvW’ers, as more and more PvE’ers move into WvW, a game mode they don’t really enjoy, therefore participating only half-heartedly.

You’re simply shooting yourself in the foot by demanding such a high threshold.

Most people who give wvw a proper go end up being a regular participant (not hardcore, but regular).

They join a WvW guild, they use the server comms, and they actually enjoy it when they learn how to play in the game mode effectively (ie, not full zerker/zerker traits/0 defensive utilities walking around as thief bait).

But most pve players refuse to give wvw a proper go, and base their dislike of it off of unsubstantiated bias and generalizations. Their misconceptions are a big ball of fluff, they’ve never tried to play the game mode in any sort of semi-proper way, or bother to learn the basics.

Those PVE players wouldn’t do CoF path 1 with 5 people in tank gear/builds, they’d gear up for the occasion (read, full zerk) and stack on the boss. Same thing goes for WvW, gear up for occasion, learn the basics, and you’ll have a good time.

Without a little push, those people will never experience it or form a proper opinion on the format.

As for ‘queues’ you need to remember not everyone is a BG/JQ stacker.

The power of hammer trains is just incredibly hard to counter without an extremely organized group, what they need to add is a “crowded” debuff that either reduces your damage by 75% or makes you miss 75% of the time, that would kill WvW stacking.

Nah sorry having played GW1 since release, I’d rather not go back to the days where direct damage classes/builds are unable to play PvP since hex/condition casters are griefing the playground.

Nice try though. GW2 has its flaws but its PvP is way more balanced than GW1 ever was. “Go hex caster or log out” sums up GW1 PvP/alliance battles/JQ/FA.

(If you have no idea what in referring to, look up GW1 hexes and blind spams shutting down direct damage builds, permanently.)

As I wrote in the EotM forum, I think this update may, unintentionally, end up having a major negative impact on WvW as a whole. I’ve never seen such lopsided matchups in tier 1 and tier 2 in NA in the months since I started playing.

It makes sense on an individual level for people to prefer playing in EotM over getting destroyed in a matchup they can’t win. But it’s going to be really bad for WvW as a whole, due to guilds abandoning servers that aren’t even trying to win, and other effects. Especially tier 1, where we now have 2 dominant servers and no third to give them a run for their money.

Or it could be the wake up call the devs were searching for to end the ‘coverage wars’.

3 faction WvW, be it randomly assigned colour match ups, or people permanently choosing a faction/colour, is the only way to keep these 24 hour wars even remotely competitive.

After playing eotm a little, a few issues have come up. It is a blessing and a curse.

A blessing because I’m on a low population server, so when we’re outmanned we can go to eotm, but on the same token makes me wish wvw was like this as it seems to be balanced more so then normal wvw, and thus I can enjoy wvw even with people not from my server.

And a curse, because as low a population server, eotm splits us up even more. I’m already wanting to just stay in eotm more already. And it was a nice tie in with the supply in the citadel. So over all im happy, it just makes me wish normal wvw could find a more balanced solution that may or may not include server grouping by colour in the future. Also suggestion maybe eotm could be on a weekly rotating map change?

Not that I would care if someone said that, its a good indication they’re a pve-only player, so they don’t know what they’re talking about. But I can see how that would crap people off.

They spend hours in wvw fighting and upgrading etc, just for you to come in every now and again to see if there’s any map completion you can leech? Yeah, I understand why they cracked it at you.

Help out in wvw instead of leeching the map completion, not only will you have properly earned it, but also helped your server.

Let's Balance NA T1-3

(yeah I know, I was done here). While I usually disprove of “not playing to win” I would humbly suggest that any server that ends up in the T1 #3 hotseat considers going full EotM in protest until JQ and BG destack.
There is no point in building a “warchest” and trying to compete with their walls of text of QQ’ing, sandbagging, and birddogging.
I think the majority of TC and SoS want no part of their crap, and it appears that SoR is no longer in the hunt to stay there. So why play into it?

BG and JQ (of current) have 20x the amount of players SOS (and JQ) did in our brief few weeks at #1. Ps no one called for a de-stack (because it was never anywhere near as bad as you buyers are), and also, free transfers.

The one thing I’ve always found cute about T1 is how when a SoR player boasts about their bag farming of BG and JQ, BG and JQ players then say the exact same thing back at them. Obviously 2 of the 3 servers are lying or are boasting about their killing of pug pve casuals (which means nothing), or are blobbing around.

As a player who has been forced to verse all 3 of those servers on more occasions than I’d have liked to…… BG/JQ, you’re not fooling anyone when you pretend to bag farm any SoR guilds, sure maybe you blob some pve casuals, but frankly you shouldn’t boast about that, that’s embarrassing.

Gift of Battle rank requirement update

See that’s how I feel overall about this. You already have to get world completion, including in WvW, to get your Gift of Exploration for your legendary weapon(s). Considering that this means you have to have gotten inside all of the keeps/towers/camps/Stonemist, you have already participated in battles in WvW. If you had never steped foot in WvW before going for your wvw map completion, the WvW experience you will have gained from joining the fights alone should have gotten you ALOT of WvW exp. (and lets not forget that you get free 15 minute WvW exp boosters in your first 5 levels/ranks)

See, the problem with this is, one can simply avoid participation in wvw to get the map completion, they can keep checking the maps to see if something is owned (flipped, karma train, colour rotation), and then go there, which is what MOST of them do/have done.

WvW map completion is not hard. Rank 30 is not hard (follow karma train, buy with laurels). There needs to be some kind of implementation that is some kind of measure that this person has been in wvw long enough to actually KNOW and have PLAYED the game mode, pve only players have it so easy, and yet they complain so loud and so much, it is quite shameful.

Gift of Battle rank requirement update

We will be removing all rank requirements for the Gift of Battle in the February 18th build and further evaluate what those requirements will be. We do not currently have an ETA for when rank requirements will be reinstated.

Just to be clear – there was some confusion around the requirement and how it is messaged in-game, which is part of why it is being temporarily removed.

The removal is to address the manner in which it is communicated in game. There will be a requirement to reach a rank in WvW prior to purchasing the Gift when we are able to provide adequate messaging to let players know why they can’t purchase it and what they need to do in order to be able to purchase it.

Communication issue? Let’s see here:

“You need to be rank 30 to buy the Gift of Battle.”

Where exactly does this message get mistranslated and interpreted to anything other than reach rank 30 in WvW?

Or are you implying that PvE-only players literally need you to hold their hand through such a simple endeavour???? If so, that is quite sad.

If you remove the requirement, for any amount of time, they are just going to go in and buy 4 gifts of battle with the badges “earned” (lol) through AP chests, and never need to rank up, ever.

The last 2 days I have helped a person from SOS to finish his/her wvw map completion, as well as help them in gaining ranks.

I have never met this person before this, and this person has stated on more than one occasion that they HATE WvW, even though they haven’t really given it a proper go. This person was rank 5 or 6 after completing all 4 WvW map explorations. He/she is now rank 17 (mostly in a few hours).

Rank 30 is not hard to reach. Both “wvw requirements” for legendaries are negligible (you made badges negligible) compared to what wvw players need to do in pve, let alone to make any kind of money, let alone combat the ever inflating trading post prices on EVERYTHING.

Do not remove the rank requirement, it isn’t bugged, nor is it hard to understand. Remove it and you may as well never bring it back.

Even if SOMEHOW a person fails to understand they need rank 30, they will ask in map chat or guild chat or check the wiki and find out in a matter of seconds. DO NOT REMOVE IT.

^ This needs to be implemented if you are SERIOUS about making legendaries require “mastery” of all game modes.

Also, the rank requirement should be 120 not a measly 30.

The only NA servers that are constantly queued are Jade Quarry and Black Gate, aka the 2 super stacked band wagon servers.

The rest of the NA servers get maybe 1 queue for an hour at a certain time, and 2 on a really good day, so being made to “give queuers something to do” is pretty irrelevant, since any server aside from JQ/BG can just join one of the other borderlands….

Yeah because more inflation is a good thing…

Because lets not give WvWers any money, ever.

WvW required to spend money on:
- Objective Upgrades
- Food
- Repairs

All whilst making next to no money, in a much harder game mode than pve.

While PvE is required to spend money on:
- Way Points
- Nothing else

While making 100x more money than WvW for 1/10th of the effort.

1-3 gold for a 4 hour match based on participation is the least they could do (To be honest 1-3g for a full 4 hour commitment is way too low)
