This ranked game mode now is a pip farm for elites, who are even make pre-made teams to… so how could a good solo player advance?! Watch Helseth?! That arrogant person shows what you want to see, blinds you like the media, he played some games solo, but he duo queued 50% of the time, and I even bet he 5 man pre-made many matches… there is no solo queue, only for the best players, who play several hours… so this" tournament" how Anet claims is a solo players joke, an insult..
HOW CAN BE THIS BE A TOURNAMENT, WHEN THERE IS A FULL PRE-MADE TEAM, AGAINST 5 MAN SOLO TEAM?! OH THERE IS A 2 PLAYER DUO TEAM! AND THEY CALL IT TOURNAMENT?! PHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
You know what is a tournament?! This is a “Cheating Tournament”, if you call it “tournament”. PPL asked pure solo queue, solo vs solo, ANET given us cats…
And want to ask me were I am, I am at ruby 28 pips, I played twice the entire season with 3 man pre-made, not more!
No one ever called it a tournament. It’s a called a season.

EU will be back next week with a pugquest format. Unfortunately no one wants to sign up as a team on EU. Well..only a few teams.

Definitely true. Remember this is back tomorrow!

Question,
We use to see the PvP AG tournaments at the top of the PvP page. Is there a reason GW2 took it down?
I feel Anet should show the GW2 tournaments on the actual GW2 forum page, just seems odd to me.
Unfortunately, I don’t know why the official tournaments post was taken down.
I’m not sure if it really grabbed any players/viewership anyhow.

No, we won’t watch your stream storm!!!! Jk, I am looking forward to it. Just wished it was postponed one hour.. but eh I can always watch the replay.
Haha, well are you talking about EU or NA? EU is coming back at the same time it was in the past.
The stream start time is generally an hour after it begins, but could take longer depending on how many teams sign up.

It’s been a while since I’ve made a post about the Academy Gaming PvP tournaments. Here’s a little bit of information on where I’m going with the weekly and reinstating the European side of things.
North America
The North American scene is still going strong with our Free Agency and premade teams. If you’re without a team, you can signup solo and be paired with four other people to play against another Free Agent team in the first round.
Most of our teams that participate are premades, so there is still plenty of competition. We also restrict all Pro League players (that have participated in more than 3 weeks) from participating.
Signups: http://battlefy.com/academy-gaming
Time: 5:30pm PST/8:30pm EST on Wednesdays

- 2nd: 800 gems per player + mini llama

Brief Rulings:
- No class stacking
- All players are required to use the Academy Gaming Teamspeak (listed on Battlefy)
For more in depth information, be sure to read all rulings on the signup page.
Europe
Europe has been on a break for a while now but is being brought back to life! The European region will allow any and all teams to participate. Solo signups are currently not allowed at this time, but will be brought into play in the coming weeks.
I’ve decided to allow everyone into this competition due to the lack of participation in any EU weekly at all. We’ll need as many teams as possible to try to bring a weekly back in the mix.

Interesting. I know of someone that did have issues, so just being cautious.
I used to run the Academy Gaming tournaments for GW2.
I know this was an issue during the previous season and would like to know if it still is (if anyone has tried it).
If I transfer from NA to EU will it keep my current pips, placement, etc? What if I transfer back to NA from EU after the first transfer?
Thanks.

Getting different answers from people.
Primordial Legend statws “cross 6 league division thresholds during a single pvp season”.
So technically when you get to Legendary x2 you should get the title since it’s a division threshold, not getting 6 Legendary prestige, correct?
As soon as I got to Legendary I was 2/6 which makes no sense.

@OP-
You must be new to how the competitive scene works in gaming. It’s not always fair. You’re not always paired with the same skill level because there’s not always enough people online in your current range. The leagues just came out, not everyone that would potentially be where you’re at has played enough matches to make it there.
A second note: League of Legends has nearly 70 million players and I am still paired up with people divisions above and below me…quite frequently I might add.
tldr: it will never be fair, so you shouldn’t have the mindset that it will.

I considered doing a stronghold tournament every third or fourth AG for NA. I’m not sure how much interest there is but I will send out a message to regular participants and get a feel for it. Thanks for bringing this back up!

Here’s a neat little trick:
I have three I use per week but only need them up for one day. Due to how arenas work, you can use 1 token for your arena (24 hours) and let it expire until you need to use it again.
If your arena is expired you have 2 weeks to add another token before it is deleted. If you let it sit for less than two weeks (any given amount of time) and add a token, all ‘debt’ is erased and your arena will work.
Example: If I let my three arenas expire and let them sit for 1 week and 3 days, adding a single token to them will make them available for 24 hours.

Two weeks is plenty. LoL players get patches in middle of their regular season. They had 2 weeks to adapt to the new patches before the LoL Worlds Championships.
I don’t think this is a huge issue.

Hi everyone, Storm here to inform you of some major changes that are coming to Academy Gaming for both NA and EU over the next month.
For those of you that are new to Guild Wars 2 or are unsure of what Academy Gaming is, read the paragraph below. If you’re familiar with us, feel free to skip over it.
Academy Gaming has been host to one of the most popular weekly tournaments for nearly 10 months now. Our tournaments are aimed at the low to mid tier players and have a strict policy on keeping the higher tier players out of our tournaments. We currently host one 5v5 conquest tournament every Monday evening for EU and NA (one for each), all details of such can be found at battlefy.com/academy-gaming.
With the recent announcement of Pro Leagues, obviously a lot will be changing with competitive Guild Wars 2 as well as our tournaments. While NA and EU differ slightly in rules and participation, we are aiming to stay in sync with one another.
Day change: Beginning on November 18th, we will be moving both our NA and EU weekly tournaments to Wednesday evenings. The times will remains the same for both of these. This decision is, of course, due to the ESL Pro Leagues being held on Mondays which wouldn’t make sense to interfere with.
Eligibility: The finer details of eligibility are still being worked out and will be updated when Pro Leagues come around, but the general ruling as of now is that no team or player participating in Pro Leagues will be allowed to play in AG. Further restrictions may be imposed when more details on the guild leaderboard are introduced (ex. the top 5 teams on the leaderboard are ineligible).
Our aim: One thing I have noticed over the last 10 months is how confused many players are with what is going on in top tier tournaments. With the recent influx of players I am going to make it our aim to change the style of our commentating for strictly AG. This style would include, but is not limited to, a more new-player-friendly approach explaining basic decision making and more or less a less chaotic experience. With this in mind, I hope to make Academy Gaming more true to its nature.
If someone should have any questions or concerns feel free to reply and let me know!
Note: Free Agents will still be allowed for the NA tournaments.

Because, as the rules say, this is a tournament for all players. There are no restrictions this week since there is only one stronghold tournament.

Also your suggestions/complaints/random comments on the game mode are completely irrelevant to the subject.
Looking forward to it

A replay function in competitive matches I take it? Meaning during our post-game analysis having a replay to go back on?
This takes a dedicated crew behind the scenes to put something together very quickly during the game and with the very limited amount of time after the game before it’d be brought on screen.
I don’t foresee anything like this happening for pro leagues on a weekly basis, but it’s something I’d like to see for the season finals and world championships.

What are your guidelines for the use of terrain? I’ve been in servers where players will constantly use skills like Blink and Lighting Flash to reach areas that melee focused builds generally can’t deal with.
The rocks on the side of the water near both spawns and even the “stands” in the middle of Legacy are often used to break LoS and imo makes fights much less interesting. Even hugging those pillars can make ranged builds and AoE builds have a big advantage.
Some argue that using the map takes skill but I believe that a duel should be like a boxing match where it’s just you and your opponent.
We don’t really need to worry about this. It’s the beach on Forest. We’ll outline it before it begins.

Great feedback. I’m sorry taunt in banned. The last tournament have 3/4 rangers in the final due to taunt.

After a recent trial run a couple of weeks ago I’m happy to say we’re beginning a 1v1 cup. To be clear, this will be held on North American servers, open to all players, and will be held bi-monthly.
The reason for this not being held every week is due to it relying heavily on community-funding and it is a lot of work. We’re just trying to give players something fresh every couple of months.
ALL rulings are located in the Battlefy rulings, so get familiar with them if you plan on participating.
FAQs:
Q: Why aren’t you allowing Carrion and Rabid?
A: We’re allowing 32 players, potentially 64, in a double elimination format and we’d like to get this finished in a timely manner. Also, it ruins the nature of a “glassy-builds” 1v1 tournament.
Q: How can I donate to the prize pool?
A: Send donations for the prize pool to Tichorum.2415 in-game. Also, please refer to the “Prizing” section on Battlefy for the specifics.
Q: So if I signup now I’m guaranteed a spot?
A: No. As the rulings say, the first 32 to check-in, which begins 30 minutes before the tournament begins, are guaranteed a spot. This is so we do not have to deal with no-shows.
All rules are final. If you aren’t happy with them, I apologize, but they will not be changed unless there are serious concerns.
If you have any legit concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know. This is for fun, so please treat it as that, thanks!

Shortly after that the shoutcaster trash talks the ranger class despite the ranger playing doing amazing as an underdog.
Awesome presentation of Gw2 PvP. I guess we see the real face of things and player’s thoughts. Last tournament I ever watch.
Nos was a guest on the show and as a player I do not believe he has to reserve his opinions on classes.
Players trash talk each other all of the time. We can only hold them back so much. Should I ban players for saying bad words? If I start banning everyone for saying a few words there won’t be much of a tournament anymore.
