Does anyone feel the meta has improved?

The might nerf went after a couple builds that were overperforming with their combination of celestial amulet and weapon ‘swap’ availability more often than other professions (ele, engi, war can all spam swaps and abuse cele). Every build that has been making fair use of “Might” for over 2 years gets nerfed.

What I’ve seen:

Still as many cele spam builds. Cele dd, cele shoutbow war, cele engi. Boring, ridiculous to fight against.

As many or more Air/Fire zerker builds. I love the feeling of not knowing whether that auto attack will hit me for 1k or 6k.

Condition spam builds. Just keep spamming out those conditions as enemies remove them 3 at a time, eventually there will be too many.

Are we E-Sports yet? Boston will be great to watch just like China.

Of course the meta didn’t change. All the change did was reduce power from might stacking. They obviously didn’t change celestial amulet, so it remains strong. Cele ele and war are not “as strong” as they were, but still the best. And for your sake, cele staff ele is just as annoying to fight. :S

You can still do up to 10v10 in custom arenas.

Played in a pug last night. Fought 5 longbow power rangers. That’s the lamest build ever. They won just by pressing #2. Once their bugged skill starts casting there is no dodging. You are F*****D. You have to burn all your endurance to avoid ONE ability. This is beyond stupid.

If you burn all your endurance on that one skill, they can only keep auto attacking…

…which hit for 2-4k.

Still just as laggy today. No fix yet.

I currently run the Academy Gaming tournaments which provide a new kind of incentive: lesser experienced players and teams get a chance to play in an orderly fashion, on stream, to have fun and improve their play in a legitimate setting unlike unranked and ranked queues.

There is no way for AG, Mistpedia, or ESL tournaments to provide more incentive to players. Mistpedia and ESL tournaments are literally cash and gem farming tournaments for the top 4-5 teams. It would be nice to see some new form of incentive given to players.

In the future it would be nice to see the the larger tournaments return because it provided a reason to ALL players to join, not just the best because they can reap the rewards.

Has anyone been getting massive lag in PvP over the past few days, especially tonight?

I was on Forest and attempted to stomp someone on the steps at the mid node. A few seconds later his body was on the other side of the map. Not to mention many, many more lag spikes.

@Crell – those who are over qualified know that they are over qualified. Nothing you need to worry about unless you place high in ESL cups. The ruling on this stuff will be changed to make it more clear in the future.

I will be putting the no-gold tournament on for February 14th and will be allowing free agents. Be sure to read up on the new rules that I’ll have out later this week/early next week.

I believe it was due to their not being one last week or this upcoming week. I am also at a standstill with tournament funding seeing as my partner has now seemingly left GW2. If I am unable to get funding for them they will no longer be continued.

Once again, there will be no AG weekly this Saturday, February 7th, due to the WTS qualifier.

If this follows standard single elim tourney rules (I have not checked) the semi-finals will be Abjured vs the Dankening and Radioactive vs DoD. Meaning that Abjured and DoD will most likely be going to Boston.

The seeding seems unfair though because DoD had an almost complete roster change, if I am not mistaken, they should be a much lower seed.

It’s double elim.

Who kittening cares? Meta is an unbalanced snoozefest and conquest only just makes it worse. There’s a reason games like Paper Mario and SimCity typically have more viewers than these events.

Actually GW2 is the most balanced MMO there is.

I actually believe the opposite. Unranked is to test things out and hotjoin is for new people.

People do care about conquest.

There will not be a tournament this Saturday.

People who say 2v2 and 3v3 don’t work without healers make no sense. Both already work in Guild Wars 2. Conquest is entirely about winning these types of skirmishes.

And possibly the fact no balance is based on 2v2 and 3v3..

PvP changes seem bad! Even with the new specializations and the new class and the effect it will have on the meta, the game mode will still be boring, old, stale, un-esports conquest! Meanwhile the new game mode is even less PvP than conquest! It’s practically PvE! Where are the arenas! Where is true PvP!

The tournament structure has been changed.

We are no longer allowing for individuals who have participated in that week’s previous ESL Weekly Cup to participate nor are we allowing any individual deemed as “over qualified” to participate. The tournament is aiming toward lesser practiced teams.

I host a weekly 5v5 tournament that is open to casual PvP teams (actually…we encourage it..) and “free agents”, or solo queuers, which may help you find a team. Look for my stickied post in the PvP section titled “Academy Gaming”.

Does anyone know if that was all of the balance changes, it seem majorly small compared to what they normally release in terms of balance. Really didn’t do much….

They’re not going to release a major patch just before WTS.

Impossible kill warrior except all 5 play hit him. they have the best HP on game and the best armor bonus, passive immune against conditions passive god mod, 8+ sec CC AOE with hammer, passive 100% critical chance amd best one hit damage, can run away like no other, best healing skill of the game (10-12k).
why not change the game name to Guild Warrior?

Hammer warrior? You can dodge. Actually easy to beat now.

Very minor changes , waiting 6 months for this is sad. Cele still has 800 more stats. You should just do a general discussion at the end of each month with ESL Monthly winners from NA and EU and makes some changes every month based on their opinion.

Not sure if this is true but someone had once said Abjured said cele was fine.

ELE will still be good.

It just has to be casted in a broader perspective. Paying attention to individual skills like is done in LoL is impossible with what is going on. Understanding the big picture of why they did things and good moves for them to do next in a match is better for viewership.

So we had a test season. Now we’re having an “off-season”. What exactly is the difference?
