This has happened to me before and many others where we get a queue pop when were in the middle of a match.

This just happened where the entire enemy team had another queue pop, hit accept, and all left the game. So it was 5-0 from 14min on out.

Possibly want to look into that.

I have been trying to be optimistic about this update, but I can’t anymore. The quality of the matches since the update have been the worst I can recall experiencing in Gw2. There is more waiting than ever, and less competitive play than ever. The only thing amusing me is that I can play skyhammer, spirit watch or courtyard with my friends in queue now.

The old system was perfect, you only needed to work on addressing issues like 4v5, the incredibly flawed leaderboard rewarding inactivity and mediocre records, and the game’s balance.

Time to end the E-Sports honeymoon and actually consider the health of your game here. Has anyone’s PvP experience really improved since the update?

p.s. These queue times are on a weekend! People are mostly home from work and school.

I keep trying to say the matchmaking it going to work out but I have to agree with this. The old matchmaking was perfect. I really like the unranked and ranked. All they needed to do was keep the old system of matching us with people but put the unranked and ranked queues in with it.

I think you should get dishonor. GW2’s playerbase is small enough to where you get continuously get the same troll in your queue over and over again. Dishonor changed a lot so it’s a fairly small amount. To the normal player that has something pop up and leaves the queue, by the time you’re back your dishonor will be gone. But for the trolls, if they repetitively decline it will rapidly add up. It won’t be an issue.

Correct. Right now ranked and unranked are the same, essentially. Dec. 16th will change that when the LB is back.

II. The problem is that I can’t queue up in Arenas straight from hotjoin. I have to leave match and then queue up.

The only other games that are eSports and are even worth a discussion are Starcraft, CSGO, and Dota. SC2 is dominated by Asia, both EU and NA are out of the discussion. I don’t know/care about CSGO, an outdated FPS with graphics from 1999 (literally, from the original CS). I don’t watch Dota .

People judge the value of ‘eSports’ by the fanbase. Both LoL and Hearthstone are the most popular video games being viewed on a daily basis… both being dominated by NA as of late.

celestial is currently the cause of the most imbalanced builds in the meta, d/d ele and rifle engie.

Celestial is fine, it SHOULD have more total stats because the stats aren’t specialized in any way. Its the whole “jack of all trades, master of none.” By being an “all-arounder” you are above average at everything, but not great at anything. It makes sense there is a price to specializing in specific direction.

Just try to play cele engie/ele without battle sigils and see how much weaker they are. Yes, you can purposely use your skill to might-stack, but that decreases your efficiency a bunch and you can’t get as high.

Now try playing any other build with an alternative sigil and see it doesn’t change your effectiveness that much.

Methinks the problem is battle sigil…

Note: This assumes you also don’t lightning-whip stow, which is a pretty stupid mechanic.

Great points at the start. The only issue is….classes who use cele ARE “Great” at nearly everything. Team support, damage, disengaging, etc. Like Arken said, though, the classes need the nerf more-so than the amulet. Though I’d like to see both.

Why does ANET continue to push skyhammer when the majority of players do not like it? You guys have done a lot of great work and that is starting to be overshadowed by this skyhammer conversation. Just remove it from the ranked arena and leave it in the other places.

sPvP wouldn’t exist if they listened to the majority of players. It’d be GvG and PvE.

I would like to know if we are getting any disciplinary features for people who purposefully AFK in a match due to anger issues, trying to spoil it for the rest of the team, etc.

In all honesty I have had more people AFK before a match is over (when the game isn’t even lost) than I have people not show up to make it a 4v5 from the start.

It’s still strange that there’s not even a report option for this. People who ruin the experience for others because they “feel like it” is not an excusable thing in sPvP in my opinion.

For example, this literally just happened in my solo queue where we had a two cap with the third node being decapped, down 450-400. The thief on my team decided to purposefully AFK because of a player on our team doing poorly. How is that fair to the rest of us that he gets off free for ruining it for the rest of us?

Also note, there’s a difference between people who altf4 the game and people who sit in the base and do nothing and do not get penalized. Both should be treated equally but nothing is/can be done about the latter. I’ve asked this question before but it was misunderstood.

What other games have you been competitive in? Any experience in GW2? Can’t find your name on a leaderboard so not sure what your experience is like.

So I don’t ever do PVP because there is no way to have a variation of gear set ups. The ability to mix my gear around instead of all one kind would take the skill to the next level. Theory crafting is a big deal and its the reason I’d rather duel in Obsiden Sanctum or in WvW. I’ve talked to a lot of people who feel the same. I’ve also worked hard in game to get full ascended gear for all of my characters which is also useless in PvP but helps in WvW…

I don’t do PVE stuff aside from taking camps and such in WvW, I’d love to get in to PVP but unless I can truely customize my gear set ups, I just can’t see the point. I’m not alone in this either, I’ve talked to a lot of WvW players who see this the exact same way.

Is any kind of customization going to be in the PVP future or should I not hold my breath?

Leaving the PvP lobby will remove you from the queue.

Justin, the way you word this confuses me. The word “queue” makes me think that once we are in the game we are still in a queue. Do we have to accept something to make the game start when we are put into the match?

So say I am on my engineer, accept the queue, and the game starts. If I leave the game to go play thief, I will not be able to return and will be treated as a leaver, correct?

Let’s say my team isn’t on. There’s no way in hell I’m played ranked solo because of the risk of going up against trio, quad, and even five man teams (when people online is scarce). I imagine the same for many others who will eventually care about their rank when it matters with a new system coming.

Lol, far from it. Great to see it get money, I’m all for GW2 PvP going big…but 2,000 viewers for a tournament that decides who goes for $50,000? Take away precursor/llama giveaways and you can take a zero off.

GvG would be a waste of time and trash in GW2. People want GvG because you can screw up and no one noticed because it’s 20v20 anyways. That way your lack of skill won’t show like it does in sPvP.

If you look at League of Legends, this is how they advertise:

- Tweets days and DAYS ahead of time scheduled matches. Hours before scheduled matches. Minutes before matches.

I do not play lol but i have been playing SMITE (first person WSAD moba) and GW2…and i can tell you SMITE pvp is much more deep than gw2….a lot of items(not 3 traits based on class)…a lot of gods(gods=class, 58gods and more are realsing) not 8 class…..many game modes…1 change every week based on player feedback….and all this things overall give you a better competitive evolving environment….and smite is a FTP game. Ppl dont like gw 2 anymore beacuse its stale, after 2 year ( same age of smite) its the same pvp…
