AG accepts free agents on NA, yes, but we are more or less a team tournament. The free agency part of it is just a small added bonus that I decided to include into the tournametns due to the removal of our former Free Agent Only tournaments that we ran back in December.

I do not believe EU will have FAs anytime soon because we usually get 16+ full teams that signup every week. We also get the same for NA.

I communicate with 16 teams at one time. I notify all teams who made it in. If you signed up 30 minutes before it started and didnt get a PM, don’t expect to be in. This tournament is ran by myself and 1 other admin. Things get complicated.

If you sign up 20 minutes before it starts and its full. The tourny fills up days before usually.

If you signup for a tournament that is full you won’t get in. ^^ I said that to both teams.

These are the only three weekly tournaments that are 5v5. Unfortunately there aren’t many other tournament organizers in PvP.

I have a question here. Excuse the potentially poor English, it isn’t exactly my strong point here. I’m a bit confused, I think I read that the first T.O.L EU match starts at the 6 ot 7th of june, but admittely I cannot remember that too well, I might as well have mixed that date up, So I’m asking you just to be sure, when will the first matches begin? And will al 64 EU teams attend those? Is there some kind of link to a page with all the match up dates or perhaps a match-up bracket? In which I can see the excat dates? I would appreciate it if this question can be answered as quickly as possible. thanx in advance.

Where was that heard? The EU ToL takes place on May 23rd and only that date. ^^

While the system isn’t perfect due to limitations on the number of teams that can participate in weeklies, I do want to point out that I am really glad to see that you guys are putting in so much effort into making this process.

In the past the teams seemed to be arbitrarily seeded and I think it’s amazing that you gave everyone fair warning of how it would be seeded and have a pretty solid process down. So yeah, while there are complaints here and there about it, I’d just like to remind you guys that what you’re doing is awesome and the transparency in the process is greatly appreciated.

Keep up the great work, love how you guys are managing the lead up to ToL3 thus far!

Yeah there is definitely a loop hole in the sense that there are limited spots for ESL and AG tournaments. Unfortunately there is no other tangible evidence of teams proving themselves, so it’s the best thing to go off of at this point in time.

If there are suggestions or ideas on other ways to go about it, we are definitely open to hearing them.

At least some of the tournaments that determine seeding get full pretty fast and some teams don’t know if they will have enough of their people on until day of and it ends up being full. Do teams that sign-up for the seeding tournaments but don’t get in because it is full get higher seeding than teams that didn’t sign-up at all? (like teams that lose first round)

also, any chance that team member’s leader-board status would be taken into consideration when seeding points are tied? (yeah I know the test is ending before the tournament and that it is a test)

Teams who signup and don’t get in are rewarded the same amount as teams who lose in the first round.

The leaderboard is not taken into consideration.

Also a another Q. I noticed quite a bunch of random newer teams in the esl cup, even though they most likly got destroyed, some of the teams might of picked up some seeding pts for participating, does this mean they cannot sign up for academy gaming even though they are a newer team and qualify to be in the academy gaming weeklies because of being newer to the scene as well as the esl ones because anyone can sign up, resulting in more seeding points than the would of had? If you win a series in ESL you cannot play in AG. If you participate in ESL but don’t win a series you can play in ESL.

Just wanted to make a post to convey my disappointment with this tournament. Two weeks in a row now my team as been denied a spot in participating in the Monday night competition. First time we were all signed up and ready to go (3 out of 5 of our players having taken work time off to make it) when we relieved a whisper sayings we could not participate due to a “miscommunication”. Being very discouraged we proceeded to whisper storm to ask if there was any way to for us in, but found the admins to be extremely unaccommodating despite the “miscommunication” which was admittedly on their side of things. Thus we didn’t get to play and we accepted that but decided to sign up for the next one (tomorrow’s). Again, we signed up, everyone tried to work their real life schedules around participating in the tourney, but then received a notification the night before that, again, we would not be able to play in it.

And so I believe that there needs to be some way of telling instantaneously upon signing up wether or not the tournament is full or not. Looking at the signup page, there is absolutely no indication of how many teams have signed up, which, in contrast to the go4gw2 ESL cups signup page, is terribly misleading.

All and all I feel that this tournament is put together in a very unprofessional manor. And, as such I can simply refrain from participating. BUT, this tournament does count for seeding points in the upcoming ToL. So it presents a conflict as how our team can obtain seeding in a lower-medium level setting without participating in the AG weekly.

Your team had signed up for the EU weekly. By the time you had signed up for NA the tournament was full (16 teams). I had already told the other teams they were getting a spot by the time that it had came to my attention that your team signed up for EU.

This week we hit 16 teams on Friday. Your team signed up on Sunday. Tournament spots come on a first-come, first-served basis.

Teams are able to sign up for multiple weeks in advance. It looks like you have already signed up for next week along with 6 other teams.

Four out of five of the free agent teams made it to the second round. That is really solid considering all other teams were full premades. Nothing to be discouraged about!

We’re trying to increase the competitive scene by encouraging people to play competitive Guild Wars 2 in the Go4Cups and the Academy Gaming weeklies.

I’m aware of that. But problem is that newcomers will always play against best teams in those tournaments in the first round. They will always get rekt and they will have no motivation to keep trying.

Randomising would motivate new teams a lot more. Just like in GW1

This isn’t how seeding works, though. It wouldn’t create much of a tournament-like atmosphere if 50% of the top 8 teams are people who have never played in a tournament before.

If teams play in a tournament a week, essentially, they will be guaranteed to not go up against a really good team in the first round because odds are that other teams don’t play at all before ToL.

Essentially, Royal, if 128 teams are in the tournament, a good % of them won’t ever do an AG or ESL tournament. Those teams are randomly seeded. If we were to randomly seed the entire tournament, a team will still go up against teams like The Abjured and TCG..they will still more than likely lose. There isn’t much of a difference.

Can anyone explain me a little bit more detailled how participating in the other tournaments(acadamy,esl) will influence your first round?

Participating in any tournament gives you better seeding than teams that do not compete.

Placing well gives you better seeding that teams that placed below you.

Placing in ESL is more important than winning lesser tournaments. For example, placing 8th in ESL could give you better seeding points than placing first in AG or the AGG tourney.

I’m not affiliated w/ any of the admins or committees that run ToL or any of the other tourneys, so this is just my understanding as a player who tries to keep up w/ information.

You have the general idea of it down, but it also depends on the # of ESL teams that actually sign up. But yes, this is a good understanding.

PvPers dont need skins or legendaries, they play with standard models anyway.

Standard models only work for tournament settings enabled arenas. So, we do use them.

Again, teams drop out. A good number of them, so some teams who aren’t in right now more than likely will be down the road. It’s still a month out.

As for invites, I see what you’re saying and if we had as many teams that are “actual teams” as we had 6 months ago, I agree that would have been a wise decision. But given the fact that there are were very, very few stable teams prior to this week, that was just not possible. That would have been sending invites to individuals who would scrounge up 4 others as fast as they could, not sending out invites to invite a full team of 5.

And to be fair to you..and DPS…I don’t think anyone expected 64 teams within 7 hours. In future tournament, invites may be a solution for something like this.

It was announced on Monday what day and time signups would go live. I believe it hit the cap 6 or 7 hours after there were live.

Remember, a lot of teams will drop out and we will be needing those teams on waiting list.

I would like to see it expanded to 128 teams, but I’m not sure if that’s something that is doable.. we will have to see.

As for sending invites out to teams. Before this week there were maybe 2-3 teams on NA that were actually stable. Because of this, there is no knowing of who to even send invites out to. Most of these teams formed yesterday or today, no doubt. You can’t blame DPS for this.

Teams will drop. They always do. So don’t be discouraged from signing up!

And I do believe they are up!

It’s pretty broken and that fact is obvious because it’s the default amulet of most meta builds. It’s just so prevalent.
Guardians, mesmers, necromancers, rangers, thieves all use it as part of their meta build.
Heck, even warriors and elementalists have very strong builds that use it.

Will it ever be toned down to be more in line with celestial? I mean celestial is only usable on warrior, engineer, elementalist and perhaps rangers. That’s 3/8 compared to 5/8.

Maybe buff celestial so the other classes can benefit from it.

If one amulet gets nerfed, another will become the meta. Every time.

Yes that is fine. Generally speaking..fill in your information, then leave the rest empty. Regardless, reading the Free Agent rules in its entirety is more important than your email address since it states instructions for proceeding beyond registration.

I went with a friend of mine to test the EU meta as it is quite interesting and different from NA meta. I want to join the Academy Gaming, as the name suggests, to experience their rotations and builds and playstyles to just generally improve as a player and have fun. However, I don’t want to farm gems from EU and NA so I am only doing this purely for experience…and signing up as a free agent with potentially 3/4 pugs will most likely not effect the top 2 winners of the tournament and I will have a fun time experiencing the EU meta…and having free agent will really help me achieve that .

EU free agency is in the works but isn’t out just yet. We’ve got new technology to test out this upcoming week for our tournament to go in a very smooth manner. After that, we will look deeper into FA.

Trust me, I am on top of trying to get this fixed ASAP. There was some miscommunication between what was supposed to happen.

Hello, I have one complaint about EU Academy gaming. How come it doesn’t have Free agents in it? I find it difficult to participate in EU Academy Gaming because I have no team in EU.

Signing up referring to be placed onto a team. You used to signup and rules are still be switched over to our new system.

The words under “Free Agents” is the strict ruleset. Why is it strict? Because if you’re not on time, you won’t be put onto a team.

The ruleset being that you show up on teamspeak as a free agent .The rest is implied that you’re online, etc.

There really aren’t many rules…the only rule is to be on teamspeak. It is what it says. It’s all there. Just takes a read.

Again..you dont sign up..you come onto teamspeak. It says that directly under Free Agents. It says it in the forum post as well.

I apologize that it states “ruleset” rather than “rules”. There used to be a ruleset but they were removed and the word stayed as is.

First and foremost, make sure you have registered an account with battlefy and are logged into the site before you sign up for the pvp events.

AspectGG and Academy Gaming are two different pvp organizations, so they will have two different websites:

battlefy.com/aspectgg
battlefy.com/academy-gaming

Once on either of those pages, you scroll down to the events listed. Click on any upcoming tournament you wish to play in. The tournaments will have titles and dates.

After doing that, you should see a JOIN button around the top left.
Hopefully that helps.

AG’s signups have changed as it states on the Guildwars2.com blog post, the AG forum post, the AG website, and the AG battlefy site. All linking directly to digitalprosports.com.

But yes, very simple to register. If people read up on our ruleset it may be easier for them to understand what is going on.

Under the Free Agents rules it states..

“All free-agent players must report to the Academy Gaming Teamspeak server (meatyfrog [dot] com:1337) by 5:00pm Pacific/8:00pm Eastern; failure to do so will result in you not being put on to a team.”

You no longer register if you’re a free agent. We will register for you so long as you show up at the designated time.

And yes, skullmount, we changed websites for registration because digitalprosports.com allows for more versatility on our end and much simple signups.

You can’t play in the AG if you place in the top 8 of ESL, assuming there are more than 8 teams in the ESL.

Right now it states anyone who has won an ESL series cannot play in the AG tournament. We are expecting more than 8 teams in all tournaments now that the llama announcement and ToL are released.

Placing in the top 8 in ESL is worth more than 1st in AG, you are correct on that. ESL skill level is significantly higher.

Hey, how can PvE player earn miniLlamas? The news post only listed PvP methods and many of us have zero interest in PvP (and it’s not a “Green Eggs and Ham” thing, please respect our gameplay preferences).

It seems like the only current way to do this is through PvP. There are a lot of things I would love from PvE but I have zero interest in it. =/

I’m sure down the road PvE will be included in it.

I have read some of the tournaments that are to be taking place, now some of their rules have limited the winner from previous tournament (in the finals or have won a round beside it) can not participate.

Now unfortunately that mean that we are not allowed to attempt every tournament there is. If that is the case then how are we supposed to obtained 27…. YES 27 llama to obtain the final form?

For Academy Gaming tournaments..

If you win a round in the ESL tournament there is no need to play in AG for a llama since you cannot get more than one a week anyhow.
