Looking at the leaderboard I got a feeling in the not too distant future it will more or less resemble the team arena leaderboard for the top 100. The pvp community is so small, those that pvp on a ‘hardcore’ basis will eventually settle at the top. They also probably have each other on friends list and know when the ‘optimal’ time to queue is (syncing or anti-syncing i.e avoiding each other).

Well SoloQ is a game of individual skill and a game of luck rolled into one. Seems the No.1 guy has both going for him in spades. I would say its kind of suspicious but since I can’t prove anything may as well give him the benefit of the doubt. He obviously has not had the misfortune of being in a game with a ‘first timer’ who does not know what score wins the game and does not even know what a skyhammer is.

Completely understood. I won’t lie, I don’t seem to have been with anyone who is a first-timer. But I’ve went against some very good players.

It was nothing personal. Winning 11 games and losing none in a game that requires a strong team seemed suspicious.

Anyway, as you can see I later acknowledged the post that said the #1 player is a good guy.

I mean.. I believe I’m fairly known to a lot of the teams, seeing as vVv has proven to be strong.

I just think it’s kind of obnoxious seeing “sync sync sync” all over the forums.

Any accusations that were made are no big deal to me, I’d probably be the same way if the guy that went 11-0 didn’t explain anything.

And once again.. no, I didn’t sync. The reason I said “call it what you want” is because people will complain regardless of what is said.

I will say I got some good pairings such as Eurantein a few times, Cruuk once, and a couple of others. However, on the flip side, I’ve been with some no-names against Hman, Shan, and Davinci, and won quite significantly. So it’s unfair for one to accuse me of syncing when I’ve been on both sides of the field as far as getting with good players and getting with players I’ve never heard of going against some of the best in the game.

That being said, those that don’t get so fortunate will complain and accuse those that do get fortunate of syncing… which just isn’t true.

Whatever the build meta ends up being will be interesting for sure. I myself have a sustained damage ranger build that has proven to be a lot of fun in hotjoin that I plan on trying in SoloQ.

My biggest question is will the leader board rank still be contingent on winning the match or will it be based on personal score or some combination thereof?

I am of the school that it should be based on match wins, though I know that some may not agree with that.

The decay system actually works, but it’s just very slow. Eventually they’ll go out of the boards though if they don’t play.

I think the decay system should work more like SC2. Not playing gets you punished much, much quicker.

Invisibility does NOT need to be removed. Thieves just need to be punished or have a barrier that holds them back from engaging, disengaging+healing+ability cooldowns, reengage, continue the cycle..

I’m not a die-hard “NEED TO GET TO THE TOP” leaderboard player, but I do enjoy working my way up and progressing through it. This is more of a complaint on my end rather than a “take them off so I can move up” statement. Obviously my skill will move me up.

However, aside from that, I know I’m not the only one who thinks there are major flaws in the leaderboard. Of course skill is not seen 100% through your rankings, though these things need to be fixed…

1. Remove anyone from the top 1000 that hasn’t played XXX amount of games. I don’t understand why people who are 8-4, 7-5, 12-6, etc.. are on there. Sure, they are alt accounts for those that are already high, but I find it extremely abusive to the system by giving those that just log in to play 15 games and never get on that account again, a spot in the top 1000 (heck, top 100 if you look at it). They will never log in to those accounts to play tpvp games again.. which brings me to my next point..

2. Seeing as they never have to log in to those accounts again because of the awful system put in to play with players dropping out over time, they can just leave them there. I have a few friends who are in the top 100 that have not been in a tpvp match for MONTHS. I understand you want to “preserve them” and “let them keep their spot because what if they take a 6 month long vacation”, but that’s a video game.. you can’t allow players to not take action and keep their spot.

Perhaps I’m viewing it all wrong and have the wrong idea about how it works… but that’s just how I see it.

TL;DR – Remove people from the leaderboard that haven’t played XXX games. Remove people who the leaderboard faster who are inactive with tpvp.

Yeah, today’s matches were mostly lopsided and I don’t think I saw too many close matches in the 400-500 range. Hoping tomorrow’s will be more exciting.

This thread is for some serious thoughtful advice on how to win your games in the new soloQ games…where you might have some people who don’t have any experience yet doing anything other than follow a zerg and DPS from range.

I’m positive it still places other around your PvP level with you. So unsure of how any higher leveled players will be with inexperienced players. =/

Haha I’ll root for the underdogs, but we’ll see if Jumper can be stopped finally with good strats. But even if he wins, hopes it warrants a slight nerf for evade thieves :P jk Thieves are ok.

Solo queue will still be based upon your rank, I assume. It has nothing to do with ELO as far as I am aware.

Regardless of whether or not CC waited to see if it was to their advantage, rules are rules. The announcer can’t just change them because he’s announcing and wants to see a longer match. The rules clearly stated all matches at BO3. That’s the fault of Grouch…and MistLeague for not correcting it.

Honestly what was said in map chat doesn’t matter. It’s the official rules that do. I didn’t see the finals, but if CC won the first two out of three games, and I were ArenaNet, I’d send CC to PAX, not TP.

-Pvp is still very bad.
-Only 1 pvp mode (No guild vs guild, no deathmatch), which is awful and boring to play, not to mention to watch (250 viewers daily @ twitch, when diablo 3 has nearly no pvp and has constant 4k+)
-The useless traits and skills released in the beginning, havent been changed, being this coming patch a very narrow modify to 5% of them.
-The actual pvp mode is in itself very bad, being no real solo q, matching casuals against teams. Poor development.

I bought it in the release, played active for 5 months, when I saw the slow progress of patching, I decided to quit, and it was a good decision.
For what i keep watching in the patches from time to time, the progress to develop the game is very bad in terms of quality but also slow.
I think the game will have the necessary health and care in 2-3 years more (and maybe some features will never be released), considering the speed of introducing stuff.
The thing is by that time, there will be so nice games out there in the market that most pvpers won´t even remember gw2. But I will remember gw1, that was a real pvp game, fun and competitive.

Maybe it’s just me, but I found 8-team tournaments to be so much more exciting. There’s a sense of advancement with them and you feel more accomplished winning one of those than you do a 2-team tournament.

Sure, keep 2-team tournaments, but what is the harm in having an 8-team tournament available for those that wish to participate? Make the rewards greater for those that do these instead of the 2-team tournaments like it used to be. I just don’t get it.

SURE, they are. But points don’t prove that. Hell, I can get 500 points on my warrior and look at them. It’s because some people know how to do well in the 8v8 matchups. It’s really not difficult at all.

PvE – They’re amazing. Why would you want a nerf when they can’t kill you in PvE.

PvP – Is this a joke? Warriors are the worst class in PvP. Go look at the PvP forum and the topic that says “Tier List” and 99% of the posts say warriors are the worst PvP class. So easily predictable.

If only we could know what teams still exist. After the 3 round tournaments got thrown out (for the time being..) there’s really no way to gauge who is still around. =/

TL:DR – Conquest is great to some, like myself, while others hate it.

This isn’t WoW – No trinity so it’s not revolved around a bunker, healers, and dps; that would make deathmatch incredibly boring and no one would ever die.

Game modes take longer to make than you think. You want to know why WoW can bring out new maps, etc, whenever they want? Because it’s INCREDIBLY unbalanced. You get 1 shotted as a newbie going into any WoW BG just because of heirlooms and the incredible unbalance-ness of the game.

I’m glad they got the leaderboards up, it’s a start. But the fact that people with 6 wins and 5 losses are on there, even within the top 100, is absurd. They need to implement some ranking system immediately, before anything else.

I agree with a lot of your points, however, burst on the warrior is ridiculous; THE PROBLEM WITH IT IS THE FACT THAT IS CAN BE DODGED/BLOCKED WAY TOO EASILY.

Any bad PvPer that doesn’t dodge/block my frenzy 100b takes up to 16k crits from my build at the end. That’s ridiculous. The problem is 90% of the time the 100b doesn’t finish because it’s dodged out of, evaded, blocked, etc.
