Btw, Ive seen a lot of people crying because they didnt get precursos from chests and they really wanted. Well, those sound like spoiled kids to me. Random is suposed to be random. I have no complaints about the rewards (even though the best piece Ive got was worth less than 5g). The chest had epics and rares, which is better than 95% of the game content, that rewards loads of crap. Well, I would like to get a precursor, but wont cry because I didnt. I got 2 epics (4 if you count the bag and the karka jewel), a lvl 78 shield and a lvl 80 helm. That was good enough for me, even though the event was ultra boring.
I can understand if you complai about the stupid lag, the dy 2 event being canceled (and not a word about it – at least I didnt see), the final event being boring as hell, about the quests bugged, all of this makes sense to me. But complaining because you didnt get a drop from a chest and someone else did, well, this is just childish in my opinion. BTW, I didnt get no precursor and the highest value item ive got was worth less than 5g, but I wont be crying for this.
I got a lvl 78 exotic shield (sold in auction house), a lvl 76 yellow (sold in merchant) and a lvl 80 exotic light armor piece. Also got a lvl 80 rare (yellow) jewel (dont remember which).
If you didnt notice yet, Anet doesnt really care about what people think as long as the money keeps flowing.
Ok, instead of putting effort to solve all the bugs and glitches the game still have, many of them from day one, you decided to make a “once in a lifetime” event. That was not a bad idea, but had lots of problems.
First of all, thanks for making the new minis tradable, that was nice. Much better than the account bound halloween pets. And thanks for trying to make a good event and for releasing new content.
Bad thing is the event was released completly bugged, the day 1 was so laggy you canceled what you had planned for day 2 (I just cant believe that crappy thing was what you had planned for retake LA, so I believe you canceled because you wouldnt be able to make anything about the huge lag and thought that canceling it would be a smaller fail than what you did in day 1) and most part of the content was boring.
The new dungeon is nice (not even close to TSW dungeons, but you are getting better), the new grinding doesnt really bother me, even though you said you wouldnt make this. The new map is ok, lets see what happens to it after the event is done.
The final event, well, that was annoying. I expected for something epic, not 2 hours doing the same thing while walking in circles. At least we had decent loot, what is lacking in 95% of the game.
Id say this was a nice try and you should keep trying to make good events and should keep releasing new content (I really dont care about the fact of being grinding). Just need to do things without bugs and without this epic lag.
Not sure if this once in a lifetime thing is a good idea, since lots of people couldnt be there. I think the content could be repeatable (even if it is once per char/account) during certain time (like a week at least). Lets see what you bring us next.
What makes you think that it would work next week?
Oh thx for telling me that, I didnt know.
So, are they staying after the event? And if so, will commendations still be obtainable?
Yes, they should hire dozens of people to respond to every single forum post. Good call.
If thats what they need to answer costumers, then yes, they should.
thx anet for the fast response. your costumer support always amaze me.
First mistake – Taking time off work to play a video game
Second mistake – Thinking everything would work perfectly on the first dayThe games 2 months old and Anet are still getting used to how to do events properly and compensate for massive amounts of people flocking to them. If you just expect everything to work perfectly your going to be disappointed.
If you think you can do it better, apply to work there.
If not, relax, its just a game, dont take time off work to play a game..thats just silly
GW2 is 3 months old. GW1 is 7+ years. they should have learned in 7 years, but they keep failing. If I thought I could do a game, Id have my own company to make and sell, not work in a company who is delivering fail after fail since beta.
all the lag in the event was an epic fail. I wonder what will happen in final event with all the lag.
Ive made this same question 1 or 2 days ago and Im still waiting for the answer.
Well, I guess there wont be an anwer. SIlly me.
So, anyone can answer that before the event starts?
I wont promote not because of the gear grind, which was obvious when they implemented the level based item system, but because of the poor costumer support (poor being equal to very very crappy) and the bugs that are still there for months. I dont really mind grinding gear (even though I think 3 months is too soon to release new armor), but I wont tell friends to buy a game that has bugs and glitches that arent fixed in months. When I start to believe GW2 will have bugs fixed and a decent costumer support (or even a bad one, but not one that crappy), I might advertise the game for friends.
Yes, but they only mention the Finale. I wanna know if the things that happen on days 16 and 17 will be repeatable (and 18 before they trigger the event chain) or if will it all be like the finale.
Will the event be repeatable (like MKT appearances) or only doable for people who log at 12pm? Is it possible to have an official answer on this?
you will probably meet your friends in the server called overflow. they are hosting an “once in a lifetime” event and giving free trial on the same weekend. expect full servers.
i dont think they will address that, they ade everything that was possible to make GW2 a simple game, I just dont see them making any changes to make something more complex. the item system is the simplest possible, the skill system is simpler than offline games, the foes have no more then 2 or 3 abilities and so on. but I would really like to see more chalenging battles, as in TSW.
Dude, the game has a level based item system and very few content. So yes, they will be adding armor because there will be nothing else to do other then grinding, at least until they release some expansion.
The game actually has a lot of content. Each zone has it’s own story, secrets, puzzles and big bosses. The problem is that ArenaNet decided to make Orr the only place where you can get lvl 80 gear and mats and the most karma. So people naturally go there and pretty much ignore the rest of the game unless they are leveling alts.
Armor with higher stats is not more content. They could’ve achieved the same effect by adding more dungeon specific exotics.
There are people who finished ALL content in less then 3 months. So no, there isnt a lot of content. You wouldnt be able to finish Prophecies content in 3 months (I dont mean the missions, I mean mission + quests + exploration + etc.).
There are people who will finish any content faster than the majority of the player base. They are called “content locusts.” It’s impossible to create enough content for them. No matter what you do, they will consume it at an alarming rate.
These same people will probably be done with the new dungeon and the new gear by the time the weekend event is over.
The content locusts finished the content in less then 1 month. GW2 lacks content. It has less content than prophecies alone.
Whether they have plans for that or not, it seems highly unlikely that they’d answer your request, op. Personally, I’d wager they’ll probably release all the ascended armor and weapons and then introduce more power creep with the first addon, but thats purely speculative for now.
Thats true, they dont seem to like answering questions, unless there are 2k people raging agaonst a stupid decision, then they come to say “oh, you shouldnt worry, we are doing exactly what you are saying you dont want and what we have said we wouldnt do, but we will say its not like this and you should think it is ok”.
BTW, I dont blame Anet for this, I believe this is due to NCsoft pressure. Since NCsoft bought Anet, things are getting worse everyday, specially costumer support, which went from “very good” to “completly disrespectuful”.
Can we plz focus on the topic, and it’s not about how much content this game has.
It’s about the key aspect of this game, ""no gear progression"", and I would really like to have an official response.@rtommaso I think they state that they won’t increase the level cap.
They have stated a lot of things.
GW1 wasn’t a level based system?
No, you could use any item at any level. You could use max armor at level 1 (all you needed was to get a run to the towns that sold it). You also could use max weapons on low level (as soon as you had at least 7 of weapons attribute, which I think you could get at level 4 or 5).
Items had no level requirement.
I don’t think they are gona raise the level cap( not if they want more riot..)
, but it would be appreciated if Devs can really answer this question, and stop playing hide and seek.
If this is indeed the last time, I would just view Ascended gears as a fix.
Game has a level based item system like WoW, Lotro, etc. So yes, you should expect them to raise level cap.

I wouldnt say it is fixed, it seems like they only have reset it and will eventually glitch again.
Warior aint OP, it is just easier to play.
The game has a level based system. So yes, level will be increased, like WoW, like Lotro, like all other titles with level based items. NCsoft saw Blizzard and Turbine making more money than they were and decided to use the same system. Forget GW. GW2 is another game. A game like WoW and Lotro, not a game like GW.
The vistas are much easier than jumping puzzles, and only vistas are required. They are the little maps floating around the place. Jumping puzzles are the 5-20 minute challenging puzzles that give an achievement and chest reward at the end.
Some vistas are in the same place of jumping puzzles.

15) Final considerations
Overall, GW2 is a good game. Not great, but good. I believe that it can be a great game someday, but unfortunatly, with this new armor thing, I think that Anet is walking in the oposite way. I expected a lot of inovations, and didnt see that. Ive seen a better version of Lotro, with some Ryft touches. It lacks a solid build system, it lacks content (some people have made nearly everything in less then 3 months) and it is a shame how Anet is not able to fix bugs/glitches in months. Instead of fixing problems, Anet choses to release new (and I believe bad) content, making high end armor obsolete in less then 3 months and promising there will be more armor soon. Worst of all, except for the lore and the music, it lacks GW, which was my favorite game for a long while.
I will keep playing the game, want to finish more achievements, complete more jumping puzzles and do more dungeons. But I really hope that Anet opens their eyes for the bugs and glitches and think again if they are moving the game on the right direction.
By the way, I didnt mention PvP or WvW because I havent played them long enough. Actually, I didnt even touch PvP and my 1st impressions of WvW werent good (too much walking, but I didnt play it a lot, so maybe its me doing something wrong).
Ill eventually come back here to add things I think are relevant. A lot of the things Ive said in here, Ive said after beta, but Anet either didnt read or just ignored, so I decided to register them again. This way, I feel like doing my part to make GW2 better.
6) Graphics
The game is beautiful. It is easy to see that you put a lot of effort in details. Lions Arch is astonishing, the explorable maps have stuff that make you feel like “wow, look at this”, the underwater areas are well constructed and there is not much to complain about graphics. There are some clipping issues (like any other game) and some minor bugs (on the 1st days I had some pants that had norn size while using in a human, which made me look like having a huge butt), but overall you did a great work.
7) Sounds/Music
Well, the same as GW. So I can say they are very good. Not much to tell about this. Also a great job.
8) Explorable areas
Well, they are beatiful, but rather small. You can fully explore an area very fastly, which was ok for GW (instanced areas), but they could be a lot bigger in GW2. Other then that, I can say they are beautiful, but too easy to explore most of the times.
9) Quests
Well, here we have problems. The main story quests, as I mentioned before, are really boring. They just cant be compared to Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall. Maybe to Eye of the North, but they are much worse. Main quests are really boring in general. The heart quests are generally boring too. Lots of grinding if you decide to stop to complete a heart and they completely lack a story, what brings immersion problems. I just cant feel like being part of a story because a dont see a story happening. The dynamic events are great sometimes and boring some others. I just dont participate in the boring ones, so this is not a problem. They are where the game gets good. Not all of them, but the bigger chains are fun to do. Dynamic events is where you join the epic battles, where you feel part of a comunity. But that happens in bigger servers. In the smaller ones, it is not common to find a zerg to kill the bad dragon or the champion grawl.
10) Jumping puzzles
While my 1st impression of them wasnt good, now I like them. They are fun, sometimes challenging (sometimes frustrating, like the Halloween one, which took me 4 hours to finish) and a breath of fresh air in the game.
11) Skill/Trait system
Disappointing. You had a huge skill system in GW, with a load of build possibilities, and again you decided to make it simpler, like the item system. You gave us an incredible small pool of skills with huge limitations. This is my biggest disappointment with GW2 and I hope you fix this. WHere is the “hunt the bosses to get new traits” thing that you have announced during beta? Where is the hunt for elite skills? Or even to new common skills? Your skill system is an epic fail if compared to GW. The only reason I can see for this is lazyness to balance PvP with a bigger pool of skills and traits.
12) Guild
Ok, we have a chat and some bonuses. Is that it? No content for guilds? No GvG? No AB? No group quests for guilds? No Guild Hall?
13) Bugs and glitches
Ok, this is where we have the biggest problems. The game is crowded with glitches and bugs. Dynamic events that just stop in the middle, underwater foes that goes invencible for no reason, glitched hearts, glitched skill chalenges, there is a huge list. Every game has problems on their release, says the fanboys. Well, the release was 3 months ago. There a bugs and glitches who wasnt fixed in 3 months. Some of them ae game breaking. Some of them are in dungeons. Some of them makes impossible to earn achievements. And what we get from Anet team? Silence. I will not invite any friend to the free weekend or to any free weekend until the game is fixed.
14) Costumer support
Well, this part makes me angry. Because I have spent 250 bucks in this game so far, and when I needed the costumer support, all I got was pasted stupid messages who didnt even adrress my question. It is the WORST costumer support I have EVER seen in a game. In the last years you could easily see in GW that the support was terrible (while in the beggining it was very good), but not even in my nightmares I could expect a suport so stupid, so disrespectuful as the one I see in GW2.
Hey Anet people, I dont think you will answer this, but I believe there is a small chance you will read at least. I will leave here my feedback about the game, from what I have seen so far. As this is a personal feedback thread (if this is not the right place, please move it) destinated to Anet, and not to the game community, I will probably not answer to the comments about the topic, unless they bring something relevant to my points. I will certainly NOT answer fanboys, neither the ones who say the game is perfect, nor the ones who say “it is better than WoW”, “go away”, “quit the game”. You can cry all you want, I will just ignore you.
1) Item system
I personally do not like the level based item system that you have implemented in GW2. Actually, I dont like your item system at all. It is the same old system used in WoW, Lotro and dozens of older titles. I loved the original GW item system, specially the way weapons worked. You had random factors (requirement, stats, damage, etc.), the possibility to add/change upgrades to fit your needs and the chance of having a very unique item (those req 7 15^50 celestial daggers or the perfect q7 vs demons outcast shield). In GW2 you have what you have. No random stats, level based items, nothing is really unique. That (amongst with a lot of other things) leaves me the impression that you wanted to make the game with a simple database, with zero chance of having unique items (I dont mean the green ones, I think you got this). That is one of the things you copied from other games that you shouldnt. You could have mantained the GW system or, if you wanted to copy a different system, you could have implemented something like the Diablo system. Of course, not that random, what would be crazy for a MMO, but with some random stats. I would stick to GW system though.
2) Crafting
As a consequence of a poor item system, you have a boring crafting system. Not sure what was the 1st game using this, but your system is based in the Lotro system, which is pretty boring. You add new stuff, like the mystic forge, which is cool, the discovery system, which is also nice (even though some crafts require the “physical” recipe, which sounds stupid to me), but the “refine, craft hal weapon, craft other half, put them together” is boring. As it was in Lotro. Again, the complete lack of random components in your item system makes craft not fun in general.
3) Story line
I thought about not commenting this part, becuase it might sound like I hate the game, which is not true. It is a good game. But the story line is just stupid. The 1st part of it is kitten (oh, I am a poor idiot in a small village in the middle of nothing who have some minor personal problems that I need to solve while dragons eat the land). The acting is bad, the texts are bad, everything is bad. While it starts to go epikittentle by little, the pace is so slow that when you go kill a dragon it just dont look like something important. It sounds like finding a lost heirloom or finding your dead parents graves. This is the 1st game I play I dont want to read/listen to the text for quests. It completly lacks meaning. In GW (in all 4 campaigns) you had a good story, with a good pace. In GW2 you did a terrible job with this.
4) Dungeons
I havent done all dungeons yet, but mostly they feel like EotN dunegons. AC was really boring, but SE was really fun to do. So I believe there are dungeons for all tastes. But so far I havent seen anything as cool as FoW or Underworld. Lets wait for future dungeons. And as your item system (again) lacks personality, I miss having “exclusive” skins for each place, like you had in FoW, UW, The Deep and so on. ATtleast I didnt notice anything like that. Also miss somthing like Sorrow’s Furnace, which was awesome.
5) Auction House/Trading Post
Ok, you dont have many new things to do to an auction house, but lets see what we have. Actually, I will comment all the Black Lion thing. The possibility to place buying orders is very cool and the “home broker” feeling of it is very nice. The possibility to get the things with any character is also very nice, so you dont have to map from the other side of the world to trading post just to get your item/cash. Also great to be able to browse and place orders from anywhere (of course that lacks realism, but come on, it is a game). Although, there are some problems. One of them is the terrible browsing system. It lacks filters (light armor, medium armor, heavy armor, “usable”, etc.) and it is really boring when it resets while tabbing (sometimes I want to check the item I have a buying order to compare to the one Im looking and the form resets and I have to search again). Also, the trade gems for gold thing is terrible. It is not market based, since you cannot place buy/sell orders like normal items. So, if you want to set conversion rates, just do it openly, you dont need to fake a market based system where you dont have one.
Because they couldnt name it Lotro 2
That is why I dont play WoW.
There are bugs in Wow 7 years later.
Yeah, I didnt mention the dozens of broken dynamic events due to the fact they are not that gamebreaking, but there are a lot of those too.
I’ve seen an escort quest in Gendarran Fields being broken pretty much every time I’ve gone through that area, ever since it was added during a BWE.
Always the same place too, they stop on the bridge and the pirates never show up to attack them.
For months, maybe years, when you guys were asked when GW2 would be released, the answer was always “when it’s ready”. I have been playing the game, trying to complete and fully explore everything, as I did in GW. My first impressions of the game were not good, so I decided to give it a break in early september and came back a couple of weeks ago. Well, my impressions about the game in general are better, even though I expected a way better game. Maybe because of the overhype, maybe because I was a huge fan of GW and expected GW2 to have more of GW in it, I dont know. Well, those are frustrations based in personal opinions, which are normally not welcome on those forums (unless they say the game is perfect and awesome, but when you say something is wrong you make some people rage real bad).
The point is, in those 2 weeks I have been playing, the game was more fun than in the first times I have played it (during beta and the first few days after release). But unfortunatly the game has bunches of gamebreaking glitches and bugs. And they are everywhere. And devs dont seem to care a lot. An example is the skill challenge “defeat the ancient sharks”, which is bugged for months. Yes, I said months. It is not acceptable (at least for my stardards, some people are just satisfied with everything) that a glitch like that takes so long to get fixed.
During my walks, Ive found bugged quests (the hearts things), glitched monsters, had lots of battles against “invulnerable” foes (who should not be invulnerable), specially underwater, and so on. Now you send me an e-mail asking me for inviting 3 friends for a free weekend of GW2. Well, I am sorry to say I would be ashamed to invite a friend to play a game with so many problems. There are bugs and glitches everywhere.
I followed GW2 for a long while. Looked at beta videos, read all the interviews avaiable, kept a close eye to everything. I remeber something about killing bosses to get special traits, learning elite skills from them (using scrools or something like this if Im not mistaken), wepons that had different attributes during day and night and so many more cool things. I see none of those in game. What I see is a dumbed down and more beautiful GW, but that is not my point here.
All of this makes me think that you had to hurry up, probably due to the pressure of investitors, and because of that, you have released a game that was not complete. It is not a bad game, even though I dont think it is an awesome game for it’s time (like GW was), but the way you treat customers, the way you deal with bugs and glitches, the time you take to solve issues are just not good. In fact, you are doing a terrible job in those aspects.
Anyway, I still want to like this game as I liked GW, please help me doing so. Please, pay attention to yous costumers concerns. I know it is better to read the fanboys, but you cannot (or should not) ignore the unsatisfied players. I know you have already pocketed your money, but we can still bring more people and spend money in cash store. Fix the glitches, fix the bugs, answer the tickets.
I can understand you released the game before it was ready, but I cannot understand why it is taking so long to make it ready. And I am sorry, but I will not invite anyone to play the game before I feel it is ready, even though I think you really dont care.
BTW: I will gladly answer whoever wants to agree/disagree with anything I said here, but I will not answer fanboy’s posts, because I have learned that arguing with fundamentalists is pointless. So, please, go rage somewhere else.
it is shameful that after months that problem is still there. i just cant believe devs are ignoring the problem. actually, there are a lot of bugged quests. yesterday i found a bugged heart which i had to find the one and only ghost not glitched to complete it. today, another major glitch. come on, we gave you money, now fix the game.
The Karma vendor Vasher Shadowsinner, who sells tailor recipes, has a recipe with the wrong name. He has 2x the Recipe: Ash Legion’s Coat, but one of them is for gloves, not coat. The recipe makes you learn the correct recipe (gloves), but the guy who ctrl+v’ed the text forgot to change from coat to gloves.
