So I’ve just gotten myself a self style hair kit with some gold I had lying around. 250 gems cost me 17 gold and 80 silver i believe. Seriously, This is starting to get ridiculous. I play this game all day every day and even I can hardly afford these prices. Imagine a casual player trying to get some of these items, the only choice they would have would be to actually spend real money on it and the entire point of the exchange is so we don’t have to do that. I’d rather spend real money on gems because I want to not because I have to. We need to fix this, obviously nerfing every possible way of making gold isn’t working and we need to try something else. Even if it mean making gold easier to come by and inflating prices slightly it would be better than prices inflating but actual income rate staying low.

Concerning Anet’s will, they have 2 ways of doing it: mannually setting the price of them (no one knows how the price fluctuation really works) or launching new items on cash store.
The market in GW2 completly sucks, and most part because of the poorly designed AH. I don’t think it will be removed, though.
Hello everyone, I just want to know if its a good idea to introduce GW2 to my 10 yrs. old son. I’ve been playing this game for the last 10 months and I really liked it. My son sees I played and he seems to be interested in it. He usually plays fps games. I’m sure he will like the asura engie class. Im afraid he will be too addicted to it like me. So what do you think, go or no go?
I don’t think this would be a problem. I don’t think the average age for the game is much more than that.
i have 9 characters, 8 of those are equiped with a full set of unlimited gathering tools, one of those characters has the 2 new tools and is still waiting for the unlimited axe to come out. now with this new update to make them acount bound i’d like to sell 23 of my 26 unlimited harvesting tools. PLEASE give me my gems back… you dont know how mad i am right now! i could have had a frkn legendary -.-

would be great if the support page was currently working properly. it doesn’t reset my password. i try to reset but never receive an email and now it tells my email hasn’t been verified (even though it was). i ask for a new “welcome email” and also never receive that one. when i decide to come back to the game after months, that makes me remember why i left: things never work properly.

I got 14 of them. My 15th (and last) character didn’t get it (god knows why, since it was created on the same day as all others). Now I have 13 useless Jennahs, waiting for the 14th useless one.
PS: no idea why this character didn’t get his gift since he was created on the same day as all the others.
Of my 15 characters, 14 got their gifts, only 1 didn’t. So I don’t think it has any kind of account limit, only crappy delivery.
Not that this is a big deal, since the gift is a piece of kitten (mini is nice, but I don’t need 15 of them).
Yes, I remember the tee. But I don’t think a minipet – which is one of the collector’s faorite items – can be compared to a t-shirt. One reason is the collector tab for minis.
When I bought GW2 I thougt: I will collect all the crap available – weapons, skins, cosmetics, useless items, dyes, everything. Specially minis (which I already collected in GW – had some expensive ones in my HoM, like Zhed, Naga, Oni, Yeti, Celestial Pig and so on).
With the skins inside lottery boxes, I gave up skins. With the t-shirt, I gave up cosmetics. If it is confirmed that this will not be available for players (note: it is account bound, I can’t even purchase it ingame like I could in GW), I’ll have nothing left to collect, since I won’t be able to have a complete collection of anything. As a result, I will probably never spend a single dime again in this game. And believe me, I’ve spent a decent ammount (15 characters, 12 of each unlimited tool, full bank, lots of characters extra bags and a bunch of other stuff).
There’s a good chance that the rewards are account related, being that everything in this game is very alt-forgiving such as account bound items and the account wallet. So it’s most likely going to reward you for being 1 year old since account creation, rather than 1 year old for characters.

It’s based on character. So you should get 8 mini Queen Jennahs, 8 exp scrolls and eight 24 hour boosters (probably all account bound).
I will have 15 account bound mini Jennah’s. 14 of them will be useless.
Make sure you check back here at 12:01 AM on the 25th to catch the first of many threads from people complaining that the gift wasn’t good enough and they feel the deserve more.
The gift is total crap, this is true. GW1 had a much better gift system. Unless they make something different than what was announced, it isn’t good enough.
I don’t see a big problem here since all the things in heroic edition can be obtained in other ways. I would see a big problem if those things were impossible to obtain in any other ways. As I understand, the legacy armor skin is the same of HoM. I have a 50/50 HoM, worked hard for it, but it doesn’t really upsets me if other people will have it without effort.
Will attending game industry events be the only way of getting it or will the collectors who live in other continents be able to get it somehow, like via cash store or purchasing streaming access to the events?

TSW disappointed me, because of some of their design decisions. Claiming they didn’t have level and though going to experience points and skill unlocking was at the very least disingenuous. It’s leveling without putting a number to the level…but it’s still leveling.
Also the choice not to voice the main character made everything that happened to me a monologue. like I’m going through the game as a mute. Completely killed the game for me.
Agree about the level thing. Understand the criticism about not voice acting the character (even though I don’t think it is an issue).
But it has a complex build system (like GW1) and lots of innovations for a MMO, which makes it a great game for my personal taste. Everything I wanted to see in GW2 concerning build and item system is in TSW. And none of it is in GW2. If you could add some ramdomness to loot system (like GW1 max q7s and stuff like that) it would be the game of my dreams.
Btw: I still hope to see improvements in GW. Stuff that was promised by devs, like getting “elite” skills by killing bosses and stuff like that. I hope to see content that makes me want to explore the game. I want GW2 to make me want to hunt champions (not loot that I can purchase on AH, but fun stuff like GW1 elite capturing).

This is as much I think player overexpectation as anything else.
My expectations were based on GW1, which was a great and innovative game.
Currently Wildstar, Elder Scrolls Online and, particularly recently, EQNext are getting that treatement.
I’m not expecting much of those. I had great expectations about The Repopulation, but now I have my doubts if it will be that good.

I can accuse them right now. None of them seems to be innovative. All of them seem generic to me.
I think GW2 has done pretty well for itself. Then again I generally dont expect to much from a game before I play it. Its certianly has a different feel to most of the other MMOs Ive played.
It is a decent generic MMO. Better than the other generic MMOs. Worse than TSW. If TSW didn’t lack content, I wouldn’t even bother playing GW2. But since it doesn’t have a lot of content, I have time to play GW2 and other games.

You entered into an overflow map that was created too late. They just did a patch and when most people logged back on it was already past the timer. Leave that map and do something else until the next one pops.

Best way to get your precursors is buying on auction house (unless you are extremely lucky). Expensive? Well, Anet wants you to spend money to buy gold.

In other games, while doing dungeons, you need 3 types of people, a healer, a tank and a dps, main reason for that is because combat isn’t flexible, so you have to face tank the damage from any boss, not a lot of ways to evade and no ability to attack while moving, in gw2, we have tons of way to avoid taking damage and we can move while attacking so we don’t really need a healer or a tank, we just get dps, if you bring enough dps, you can take down any boss pretty quickly the whole encounter becomes a joke, that’s why zerk is considered better than most armor, because the more time you spend in a boss the higher the risk of wiping, and it’s not that hard taking down any boss with a full zerk party if they know the boss and understand his mechanics.
This doesn’t include fractals
zerk is not the best, it just happens to be the favorite for the e-pen kiddos because it does big dmg.

Something funny happening: they put mini pack in promotion, minis prices go up. They put dyes in promotion, dyes prices go up.
I wonder if I have no idea about how the market works or if prices in AH might have been manipulated somehow. Oh, but this is only a conspiracy theory., they would never manipulate the prices in AH just to make more money. There must be another explanation.
Eventhough they will always say they wont do it (and no one will ever know if they do), Anet/NCSoft can control the prices if they want. And they would do it for a simple reason: selling gems = money. They are here for business, you are here for fun. If they stop making money, they will leave the business. If you stop having fun, you can quit the game.
Ive spent 26g total to get the mini. Got the achievement with around 12g.
Tip: always bet on the same moa.
1- go to a low population server
2- go to a higher level area
3- waste your time killing holo creatures
Very unlikely that it will be one day only. Especially since the festival stays until the 9th and the release page says “Begins June 18” but no end-date (which the fireworks does)

My suggestion is to add a character based tab to the bank. A place where you can keep the soulbound stuff you wanna keep for the skin or your extra sets of armor. Could be a tab exclusively to place sb items. Can even be a separate bank, like guild bank.
That would be awesome since we have more and more items comming.
Also wanna endorse the wardrobe suggetsion for placing our town clothes and the minipet slot on hero pannel.

I didnt pay attention to drop rates, but there was some sort of ninja change to holo creatures. Ive noticed that now they become invulnerable for a few seconds, what didnt happen before. But a ninja change to drop rates would make sense, since the coffers drop tickets and NCsoft is all about making money. They might wanna boost the lottery boxes sales.
More about the event:
1) The holografic mobs are kind of fun and rewarding. It was fun to do and got me a ton of boxes. Opened till I got the 2 minis I needed, opened a bunch more to see if I get the wings, till I found out it is better to just sell the boxes and buy the wings. Will buy them soon.
2) Fireworks achievement was a bit boring.
3) The pinata achievement was also a bit boring, but rewarded candies for each “kill” made it more acceptable, since it was like running 2 achievements at once. Nice move.
4) The LA celebration was the lamest celebration ever. I was expecting a GW1-like event, with stuff to do, prizes and a real celebration. I didnt believe it was only this. Same as the end of Flame and Frost, very frustrating. But nice to get 1 of each type of helm. Too bad it is not repeatable, since I would like to have some extras.
i never buy them, since i think they are a theft. i dont like to be robbed, so i gave up collecting skins. sticking to minis and town clothes. until they put those in rng boxes too. then i quit the game.
Ive been very critic to most of the content released by now, even though I keep playing and spending money on the game. There are still stuff to change, but there are some stuff that I like (didnt play all the content yet, will come back when Im done with it). Ill bring 2 of them to this topic for now:
1) The new arena is fun. Much more (MUCH) than the annoying crab thing. We are properly rewarded (coffers) and it is fun. As fun as GW1 arenas were (specially the Christmas one).
2) Minis. We can directly buy them (no RNG for heavens sake!) and gem buyers even got a pack for “free”. That was an awesome move. About the other minis, Moa is a pain in the kitten to get, but not bound, so it is ok. Same for the dragon (already got one from coffers I got from arena) – even though it is adquired via RNG boxes, the drop rate is fair and can also be purchased. The colossus is cool too, since all you need is a box of minis and an extra one.
Regarding the skins, I thing that will never change. It is a pain for collectors, but I just decided Im not collecting skins.
In time: thx anet for the “free” minis and for the free back item. We are moving in the right direction.
I have the same problem. Want to buy an extra pack to craft the other pet (got one pack by mail), but the pack is not available on cash store.
You were probably hit by a stone so that you can’t use a skill for a short time. I only experienced lag on day 1, which was fixed quite fast.
No, sir. the skill is designed in a way you stay “frozen” in place for a while after the speed boon. Took me a little while to understand that (and lots of other people as you can see on forums).

Again, if you read the forums, you will see that A LOT of people understood you needed to be the last person with the crab in your hands when the match ends.
And you shouldn’t play the game if you’re doing it for the rewards imho.

yeah this seems like a very badly designed reward. you have an exotic mini that has a much lower supply than the fine ones (barbie and ken). reminds me some of gw1 minis rarity… like the pig, which costed like 1k each because there was huge supply while some purples like naga, yeti and oni were way more valuable than most of the green/gold.
Space should never have cost gems. It completely screws new players.
new players dont need space. and, if they need, they can buy.
ArenaNet does not control Gold to Gem prices players do.

I rly need some extra bankslots and i decided to look how much it would cost me. I was pretty shocked when i saw the price has gone up to 21g for 1 slot.
They still cost the same ammount of USD to me. And Im pretty sure Anet/NC$oft want to make money from them. Otherwise you would start with a huge bank and wouldnt have to buy them.
There are other games where you pay a fixed ammount of gold for the bank slots. All you have to do is pay a monthly fee to play them.
