How to fix 'Nightcap'

Servers doens’t have a “owner” who decides when its nightprimer. If anyone want “own” their server, play 24hrs with your zerg. Or do pvp matches, so when the someone win the matche the instance is closed.

As geographical exploration fan I would be happy if it happened. But being realistic it will be extremely difficult to add a new continent and fill them with areas without losing quality of map design, and im not favor of loss of quality.

HoT set up a new dividing line.

When I notice any pve of other games, i do not see more action, I feel like those other games were just doing standing to reap mobs like harvesting trees.

What I liked most was that I was “forced” to optimize my old berserker warrior and try new build. Now i have more action.

Unfortunately I do not have much time, if I had, I would open a blog or YouTube channel with videos, discuss builds etc.

Even in Core Tyria u miss the HoT action.

WvW has so much potential, and is a major selling point of GW2. It needs to be accessible and meaningful. Server identity and loyalty should matter.

WvW is addictive when there’s action at a certain pace.

All we want is great armies and great wars, our enemy, that is between us and these epic is just empty maps where we only walking around.

One syndrome longtime WvW players, is to think that everything can be strategically combined. I prefer to think that the population of the servers is something that really is out of my control. No rules, no limites, anyone can play on map on its desires. I must be prepared for what lies ahead.

When people say the only way to farm gold in the game is SW trains, and when I tell them i make 100-200g a day they call me gem buyer, then yes, they lack brain cells

Agreed too. Auric Basin farms, is very less confuse and more rewarding than SW.

-You wanna get a legendary? Play 10 mins a day and save gold for it. In 3 years you’ll have it. You wanna get it tomorrow? Then yes, it’s a huge kittening grind.

like i make my full ascend. gear. the time gated items was near 30, so i made it in spared 30 days. with a goal to make 10gold per day to buy Silk Scraps to made at least 1 bolt of damask each day. no drama needed, and it was not “impossible”.

even “wvw population is low” can be on the list.

The WvW pre hot was:

a) Eternal Battlegrounds the most active map side by side with Edge of The Mists.
b) The Bordelands maps with low pop., sometimes, rare see some roamers with +10 ppl. Sometimes randomly someone put a commander tag, or a rival server guide decide invade, tem some allie server guild come to defend ou recap objectives.

After hot the WvW is:

a) Eternal Battlegrounds the most active map side by side with Edge of The Mists. in the first weeks, a real visible pop unbalances, but now seems fine. Even new WvW guilds is appearing!

The jungle environment in hot maps is supposedly tough enough even for the inquest. so it is very rare to see “non-native” in hot maps. Tarir depends on magical power to sustain themselves there, and Rata Novus died.

i didnt think it as mess, i think history mode as something separate for core world.

But i agree on needed epilogue. the egg stuff has enough mistery link with a future Season 3. no need to left the characters end for Season 3. i vote for patch with some epilogue.

Since when WvW players are poor? I’m playing WvW few days, I have hundreds of bags to open.

Imagine a well-coordinated guild of 10 people focused on WvW. multiply 50 champ bags x 10. And I’m not counting on kills bags, and gathered materials on WvW maps.

It has something that does not fit well there. The guys of these so called “small guilds” are allegedly well organized, have teamspeak, organize raids in WvW but fail to organize to reverse its gains in WvW, to upgrade to the guild hall?

One of the things I liked in GW2 was the originality of personal history. This business of “you were born to be epic” was very repetitive.

I’m not against them “kill” the character for whatever reason, just did not like the aesthetics, aesthetic style was very “Jesus nailed to the cross”. This was not original.

I agree on almost everything with PopeUrban except on the end of the Pact. To have great battles there needs to be large groups. I do not like much of this crime novel style stories as was the LW2 and much of the HOT. It all just boils down to: investigate it, talk to person X, read the book Y, come to the place Z, make magic ritual C and kill the enemy W. I missed a great battle as “claw island”. Fortunately in hot, the meta-events maps fulfill this gap, but ouside the history.

In fact it is quite strange(to not say ridiculous), fighting a big enemy physically and also big in terms of “magic power”, large enough to be considered a threat to the whole world, with only a group of 5 or 6 people who spend more time behaving as if they were detectives in the style of anime Scooby-Doo.

Vote for Anet in future stories which departs from that line, and then come back with great epic battles like Zaithan fight history.

And ofc, i have same respect for Trahearne as u do. At first, i was confuse with his history. But when i repetead history mode with other alts, its become more clear.

in any mmo, PvPers is the most difficult audience to please and full of complaints. So that in GW2 is the same. Sooner or later begin to transfer their frustrations to game mechanics.

Imagine u doing mortal kombat arcade mode, and after win all challenges and montaro, instead of fight shao khan as final boss(using skills that u already have learned in game), u have to win a soccer match and make 10 points against brazil or germany football team, or a tennis match. Its same feell the ppl who arent into donkey kong games, when playing a mmo and theyre forced into those adventures.

GW2 is one of the cheapest that exist in this regard. I crafted my ascended gear, all without having to buy one gem. It took near 30 days, cuz i was crafting time gated items.

Even in some inflation-season i trade gold for gems and buy something.

The cycle between new stuff on gem store, give time to save some gold.

There is no reason to complain.

Oh and now I’m close to 5k AP. they give 400 free gems. i will save it for when black wings come back on gem store.

The first thing wrong with the WoW is that it exists. As a fan of the Warcraft RTS series, already sensed what was crap ahead, when in version 3 they have reduced the maximum number of units in a army to 90, taking the focus of large armies to “heroes”. Then months later I saw the announcement that Blizzard would turn Warcraft in an MMO. For me it was a funeral.

Anet has to have something to learn from this, is never take the focus of a brand, and please no more mini-games “jumpings” Donkey Kong stuff in GW2. Exploration/fight/MMo game has nothing to do with Marios Bros playstyle.

I spend most of my time in old Tyria maps. New maps are pretty but they don’t have the variety of wood/ore I need to make gold.
And if I want to pew pew things, I chose Orr or SW over any HoT map. This is the first MMO where I never go to the xpac areas to farm things :/

^This is the prevailing theme of players who bought HoT in my guild. Well it was when they were all still playing. Everyone said HoT was gorgeous and it was fun. It had no long term appeal though. Long term is farming mats and doing events over and over that you find enjoyable. HoT is definitely lacking in that area for some people. Also, dungeons are gone in terms of replayability. Same for Fractals. We’ll see what happens today to rectify them being garbage for the last two months as a long term play option.

One raid, 4 maps and a Fractal and Dungeon Nerf over the last 2 months with nothing added the previous 10+ months prior to the x-pac. If you can’t see why some people would be disgruntled by that it can’t be helped. I can understand why people are content with HoT, but those people should be understanding of why people aren’t.

lol. Tarir farm completely put Silverwastes in the pocket. Theres even a achievment “save golden city 100 times”. in the first 5 times i cant believe in the insanely gold u make here.

I have experience in make condi builds, the only thing I can say is that condition builds require very, very very careful study. And especially in terms of versatility, condi builds have less room to serve both as open Pve and as for WvW.

The good side, is that very fun, when u get bored of zerker style u can switch characters.

Still it feels a bit odd seeing precision on those condition dmg pieces

This is a sample of what im saying. Many condi proc sigils, is proc on critical dmg. So if u want maximize some condi like Bleeding, u will need good crit. chance.

My guild has about 90 to 100 people, however, by noting the historical saw that 90% of the materials are donated by two people, the two heads. As I am the type who does not like questions about third-party finance, do not know where they got much gold, I assume that they play for hours on end.

From the experience I took, with months in a guild that has guild hall, the only thing sure is that so far guild hall is something essentially cosmetic. this does not affect your experience in the game, unless u considers taking pictures in beautiful places something very important.

It’s not something worth and life and death, or condemn the whole game because of it.

Small guilds that do not recruit anyone will be happier to avoid this content.

Heart of Maguuma

  • Add additional mastery points to several maguuma achievements so that players are not pressured to do the mini-game adventures if they don’t like them.
  • Make adventures always available whenever it is possible.

This one is by far the most important to me besides the current meta timers. I currently have 3 tiers of mastery upgrades done as far as experience goes and not enough mastery points to apply them. I don’t know why but I have tried some of the adventures multiple times and can’t seem to get to silver. I think I’ve had 19 bugs about 20 times so far which is exasperating not to mention makes me motion sick after 2 or 3 attempts.
There should be way more ways to earn these points as I’ve said the experience portion is enough of a grind already especially with diminishing returns.

I do not use mincing words to describe it. Adventures are just extremely stupid.I have no idea who gave advice to them about it but need to know a lot of people hate mini-games. If they put to kill the Mortal Kombat Shao Khan I do not hate, but the combination of jumping, timer and random content is the ultimate humiliation.

The proponents of adventures, are missing the main point, this style of play completely beyond the style of the majority of mmo gamers. Many of them are interested in fights or exploration. And worse than jumping(donkey kong/mario bros factor) is the random content. Even a “Tetris” mini-game would be less detestable.

about masteries, with strongboxes+magumma insights(something like vistas) u can avoid much these mini-games.

what i reached without these morons mini-games.

-Exalted 5/5. (required for dark harvest).
-Gliding 5/6. (4/6 is required for dark harvest).
-Itzel 4/6.
-Nuhoc 4/6. (required for dark harvest).

i didnt have yet full Tangled Strong boxes/insights and not dragon stand strongboxes/insights yet.

I love VB. It’s probably my favorite map. Certainly the most polished of all the new maps. And yeah, if you dislike VB you are going to violently hate TD.

you are indeed correct, i despise maguma to such extent that i decided to burn my “Christmas money” on HearthStone pacs rather than upgrading account here.

I wander what are they going to do when in a couple of months people get fed up with maguma and the content required is essentially unsoloable.

with some rebalance of ur build u can solo it. at begin i find impossible solo with classical zerk warrior, then i changed build, doesnt need even touch in gear or runes. With other classes like reaper is a complete cakewalk.

i love exploration, and think the balance of 4 maps is good.

it would be a good idea, a bonus expansion with new maps on some empty spaces, like southsun cove. theres a stretched coast on “tarnished coast”. they can create something here.

I started playing video-games when appeared Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat like games. I always thought that people who spend hours jumping is ppl dumb enough to not get bored with repetitive content that was just randomized. … Super Metroid is sample of legit exploration despite excessive jumping.

In Pc era, i come to RTS and fight games, then appeared MMO’s, They are doing a combination of exploration and struggle.

Then someone had the idea to clone the Donkey Kong in HOT, I’m surprised it has not yet bananas as Jungle currency.

and still call this “adventure.” Jump out there makes you a ballerina, a dancer, or a cover of Michael Jackson not a “adventurer”.

I’m paying a friend to come here at home and make the stupid mini-game for me, so take my dark Harvest.

Even make my full ascedend gear, in 30 days, grinding 4hrs per day, not appear torturous as this mini-game, if they put it for 1000 gold I would prefer the farm/grindd than submit to this humiliation.

In dungeons “old times”, i didnt find that toxicity at all too. the frustated runs is a combination of squishy team+low dps team = wipe. When running dungeons i avoided lfg titles like “lf1m zerk” or “exp expected” and things goes fine.

Oh and you guys expect in a few days, will appear rooms sales in raids in LFG, as there was "Arah 10g, no participation needed ". As like in other MMOs, “elite content” ends in people using the game to make money fast.

in open HoT Maps, pve-metas, i did not find these all toxicity, an average I would say 98% of meta-events I attended were cooperative. I have now something like 20 or more sucessfull AB meta completed.

I have farmed Auric Basin Weapons, and collections that depend in Tangled Depths and Dragon Stand. The only thing between me and my Dark Harvest are now the stupid mini-games like fallen masks. All these metas requires a very cooperative community to suced and i find it.

If there is toxicity, as I predicted, that is related the Raids.

About Raids i just want to ask only two things.

1-put a option to disable that advertising on the game events section on the right, i have no interest in “experiment” raids.
2-Please put the raids in a different category in the LFG tool. Visual pollution is ruining the work of cooperative maps.

A combination of glass like+transparency+movement+big graphic is a FPS killer. But in terms of code is simple to solve, if its become more “static” like when rev change the “spirits” it will reduce fps consuption a lot.

LFG system should get a rework, this shouldn’t be too hard to code either.

Great guide, very well written and even though it’s a huge wall of text enjoyable to read. Might even deserve a sticky?

There’s just one thing I’m missing- how to I prevent getting a kittening DC right before that big bug is about to bite the dust, since that’s by far the biggest difficulty for all HoT Meta’s- being able to stay until the very end and not getting kicked out of the game all the time >_> .

try stay in a squad, the map instance save your progress now, even if u comeback in another instance, the “join dude in tangled depths” and u progress is there.

i have DC issues months ago, try some sorte of DNS clean. aparently anet solved their server issues, and im able to stay in long chain events.

Any taxi for AB is for Octovine only and not for a fresh map.

Since two days ago, it is emerging shyly, fresh events AB adverts. In particular, always do with Taxi “AB event farm” or “AB fresh”. Some friends and I gave the kickoff and began to emerge this kind of Taxi.

Solo play in HoT is harsh. anyway the main problema is the mobs on your way to some point, must avoid than fight them, mainly the raptors.

i still use zerker on Warrior, but after many length tests for months, i find that discipline+defense+strength is still superior to any combination with berserker trait line.

I do not know why, for incredible as it may seem, what bothers me most at the moment is the LFG tool, I do not know if it’s because I’m also a developer software, and has notion that this detail is easy to solve.

Reorganize the LFG tool categories, it would be a simple measure of them with very effectively impact. Much of the hatred of HOT comes from the difficulty of ending the meta-events, and this tool would help a lot without the flood.

i have full ascedend, but dont like overzealous game modes, so im avoiding raids til someday i see on LFG something like “all welcome”.
