My main just entered Bitterfrost for the first time couple hours ago, i must say the map is very well done.

The amount of CC and conditions require better player awareness, also bring some stun breaks. It quickly became one of my favorite map now.

same, when you become familiar with encounters, you do not have to change even a single trait.

Golden Ooze nearly impossible to complete

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

ugrakarma.9416

Try to use DH with longbow. I saw a solo player kill the golden ooze by luring him in circles (healer oozes can“t catch the golden ooze) and shooting from distance with longbow with some traps to help the dps.

Btw, Legendary Vinetooth Prime is much harder to kill. It took me 1 week to find a map with players who know that we must cc him.

it’s not harder to kill but easier to fail which is not quite the same.

I am slightly surprised that 10 people couldn’t manage to kill the ooze fast enough

Same, i play hot like 1 year, and the ooze never seems a issue. Smoother than Balthazar Champ.

but my 2 cents: single target classes focus on ooze, luring him and making him move in circle, then, the strong aoe guys like elementals, or viper-necros can take care of smaller ones.

The Meta Should be a Lie

no thank you.
Enough of the circus in this game, which already has a horrible state of visual coherence and class roles. The Zergs here look more like a rio carnival parade, than a legion of soldiers to the war, since “anything can, everything is allowed.”

I am in favor of the idea, that certain classes must be forced to certain weapons, reducing the “carnival parade” factor.

I always play warriors because I like greatswords and hammers.

But it seems to me that crying in GW2 for “balancing” has gotten us to the ridiculous point of having a warrior efficiente with a longbow, or with shield+mace.

There is already diversity in this game with the actual professions, if one dont fit your style, change profession!

If we follow the current path, it will not make any difference to a ranger or warrior, or a necromancer, because they have made all professions fit the idea of “one size fits all”. That is, in the name the “diversity of builds” or “theres no meta, anything works”, they kill the diversity of professions, and if all professions are the same, there no diversity at all.

The only problem with new zone is the aggro range seems very large. Not even in HoT is that way.

This seems more like a bug than intentional, is very non-standard.

We better report this in the bug area.

Abount conditions seems fine, i play with glass canon warrior, non condi cleases in any way, and map seems fine. Btw the map can be traveled with glide, nnd those geisers that launch you into the air.

A team of focused, thoughtful, moderate people solving the problems of the world, is cliche of modern novels to please “normal people” im happy that LS3 Is moving away from it. What saved the character Taimi in this series is precisely the pinch of Machiavellianism.

I have no idea who writes these stories, but if one day this team reads this, I suggest that they read the book “The Last Letters from Stalingrad”, and thus have a deepest possible immersion of the anguish and sorrow of soldiers in a battle field.

As I think you have too many critics out there, so I will go to the good points.

Nothing to complain for while. I completed the history and map exploration yesterday smooth without any “guide”, based only on a intuition… I notice that the Anet team responsible for these maps seems learning more and more with errors and correctness. This new map is still better balanced than the previous one. With this third map I am confident about the quality of the next chapters. The celebration here for the team is deserved, open the champagne.

1) History. We have aggression, we have tension, we have hate, angry, balanced the paternal (or maternal) role with Glint’s cub. I’ve always felt really lacking in really tense chapters and for some reason Hot Historyle’s did not bring me that. In this new LS3 chapter the intense fights reminiscent of the first time i was in Claw Island battle.

2)Map design: is in state of art. Coincidentally these days before the patch, I remembered Neverwinter online and the Dwarven Valley map that was absurdly beautiful. (Anet’s team could look after the neverwinter “campaign” concept later).

ab is dead. has been for a little bit now. only 5 maps total normally when it used to hit 9 everytime.

I can't AB Multimap!

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ugrakarma.9416

ugrakarma.9416

I completed Ex-Machina, and “The Great Reformer” while AB multi is around, these achievments requires tons of HoT currencies. But, i do not see specific need to ‘distribute’ the population to other metas.

There is no pratical argument for that purpose.

Someone just think is beautiful the 4 maps supposedly have “equally distributed” population and so.

The current format of Tangled Depths is perfectly “farmable” solo, or with group of 5 people. U do the outposts events, that requires less people, u get chack acid, and when the lanes events is complet, popup more Cached-Supplies on the lanes, u run and open the caches before the meta. Note that this cicle is independent of the Gerent-Meta.

What i see players with inadequate builds or even WvW builds trying HoT maps, so they rely on an easy environment, and an easy atmosphere is always to have big Zergs doing everything.

2. Why the Mystery Cave is sealed by a Forgotten stuff?
I read several times the summaries, and even again the history brief in-game, and it was not clear why the cave of last Caithe memory is sealed by an “old magic”.

3. Theres more plot-holes, unsolved mysteries on LS2?

Condi Necromancer it is what has more versatility, u can be a “viper horror”(check metabattle for build), and when u get bored, just swap 1 trait line, Soul Reaper over Death Magic, to become a pure/agressive melee. The Reaper mode itself is like have a 2 professions in one.

You can even use high-risk builds, focused on high damage at cost of tring surving with little defense. My favorite in HoT is a pure glass canon Warrior (berserker + arm + strength traitlines + zerk gear). The risk of being killed more easily give more excitement in exploring the hot maps. In this style of play, rather than just stand and strike u have to use more “movement” and evades..

The only complaint i have is the mini-games.

-I paid a friend to come here at home and do the Fallen Masks.
-I’m paying for it again to do the Sanctum Scramble.

Not every style of play is viable for all people. Some people like me, really hate jumping.

I am told to fight. I have no problem in understanding boss mechanics as the achivments the LS2, but “jumping” is a problem. I also like map exploration/discovery “hidden places” so in this, hot is OK.

Explore the maps when you understand them is pleasant, but I noticed that there is still a certain lack of intuitiveness and guides. In Tangled Depths for example, is not very clear “loot phase” of the map (I will write a guide on this map in the future).

I play vanilla hammer/greatsword for pvp and wvw, and condi-necro spam for wvw only because on pvp condi necro sucks. And see no reason to nerf anything. Condi classes are most glass-canons, u can destroy Mesmers with greatsword/hammer swapping. The warrior have a infinite condi clear on discipline trait Brawlers Recover.

Necros dont have much stability options without sacrifice dmg, so warrior hammer demolish them even on reaper shroud. if they have stability traits on reaper, they dont do much dmg.

Being a roamer warrior in WvW It is a different story. Roamer WvW is a specific type of game where classes take advantage of the surprise factor, as Mesmers and Thieves have advantage. U need to learn how to take “surprise advantage” a positioning here.

i use this meta build, still great, the only class who scare me on 1vs1 is the well skilled guardians ou well skilled dare devils.

1) given how gw2 works, we will propably never do that. It would break the game for the newcoming players. Most old maps are frozen in time for them.

Imagine that you went to orr, expecting to find Zhaitans wasteland and suddedly come into lush greenlands with people on map chat saying “lol, you came too late, all is gud now”

What I’d like to see is for them to give us a reason to visit one of the parts of Orr that is currently uncharted – possibly the space between Arah and Malchor’s Leap. They could open up the gate at Bayt Fallahin for players with the relevant expansion, for instance, and make it a zone transition. They could then use that zone to show us what Orr has become since Zhaitan’s fall without spoiling it for players who haven’t gone through the personal story yet.

in this case, to open new maps I agree. I am against changing the old ones.

I say more: it would be amazing.

Silverwastes chests train, and opening chest in a 53 char gives 3x, 5x more gold. But chests train is incredible boring. Silverwastes isnt time gated.

In AB theres some sort of coordination, so its no “easy content”, its fun at some point and is time-gated.

Because someone would have problems with that?

Because it invested heavily in ectos/handling high prices in marketing.

I was farming gold for Volcanus, and gave up AB,
contrary to what they say, no one is getting “rich” with it, the market corrected himself, with the price drop, only those won gold were the first farmers of AB.

OK let’s be honest then … how is someone looting 20 chests or 200 chests, in an intended loot map, impact you negatively as a player from an economic POV? I’ve already asked this question … I don’t see an answer yet. Again, I see lots of speculation that this is the worst thing for the economy ever … so someone CERTAINLY must be able to tell us WHAT this terrible thing is that is actually ingame …. I don’t mind waiting for an answer …

Until then, yes, I’m going to say it’s jealousy because if you can’t point out a REAL SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE game impact, then what other motive do people have to insist this needs to be fixed?

See, the problem here is this; No, I don’t think Anet intended for people to swap maps to get more access to Grand chests but it is clear that AB was intended to be THE loot map in HoT. Now let’s go a mile high … other than a completely academic argument that it’s ‘not intended’, if there hasn’t been a massive, negative impact on the economy of the game, then what compelling reason does anyone have to fix it? I’m not trying to score internet points here … in a game where Anet wants players to make mats available to each other on the TP to exchange wealth, and included a loot phase in AB to facilitate that, explain to me how it makes sense to nerf MMapping when it achieves that goal? I mean, it’s absolutely ridiculous in the context of the game to pursue it.

It is the same I think.

before patch, theres was a great demand for mats obtained in HoT maps, mainly for Guild Halls upgrades, and there was a great inflation. This demand will increase further, as it seems, the new legendary items will require these materials.

They are becoming gradually making the ascended to become more accessible. The clues indicate that ascedend will be the new “exotic”.

But there is always ANet either has to change supply (nerf AB, buff another event, add a better new event) or change demand (add new crafting recipes, mystic forge recipes, etc) to keep AB farm from eventually having an overall negative impact on the game.

As I explained above in my last post, AB was already “nerfed” before. And the economy at the time was not good. Inflation was high due of demand caused by Guild Hall Mats. So they buffed all 4 HoT maps. The most notable was the increase in time to mine the Noxious Pods Dragon Stand.

Apparently the new legendary items that lies ahead, will require huge amount of HoT mats.

Also, multimapping has made it impossible to get a regular taxi for the AB meta.

Also, the sheer number of rares being produced has rendered major sigils and runes almost as worthless as minor ones (to the point that some of them can’t even be listed on the TP any more).

Believe whatever you want, it’s intentional, and that’s my point. I think it’s pretty ridiculous to think Anet ‘messed up’ a whole underground area where you can loot 20 or so chests after the meta is complete in AB and ‘messed up’ not having similar areas in the other three HoT zones.

Being able to loot one AB worth of chests was intended, being able to loot more than that wasn’t. If it was, Dragon’s Stand (the other “loot a bunch of chests after beating the meta” map, btw) wouldn’t lock the instance once the meta was complete.

AB originally have keys rewarded tied to participation on the map. So its intentional.

In patch where there was this change, was announced that the intention was to increase the amount of rewards given by HoT maps. At the time, I “predicted” that turns the new farm hotspot instead of Silverwastes.

But there is always some form of farm, I see no point in changing. The worst-case scenario that have happened, its just changed some old farm hotspot/material like fractals 40, then so “ruined” someone’s farm, someone that for unknown reason do not have any means to farm AB. But play only to farm gold is a personal choice, so who chose it, must adapt to it. Farm will always be there whenever people with time left to spend long hours playing.

So as there was always farm in the game, whether Orr, ie Fractal 40, Silverwastes. Why just now in AB this has become a problem and would “collapse the economy”?

No one can reasonably argue that its ‘too much’ loot without presenting observations of REAL ingame effects due to ‘too much loot’ from AB. It’s just silly.

good argument.

The price of ecto is down considerably since people figured out how to multi-loot efficiently. Those who AB/ML gain the benefits of selling their rares or ecto; those who don’t get less from selling the ones they obtain through the less-lucrative farms. (The same holds true for other mats; that one is just easier to see in the graphs.)

And again, I’m not arguing this is something ANet needs to post about, let alone address. I’m just saying that there’s plenty of evidence that AB/ML has disrupted the economy.

how is this different from any other farm? like sw for example? nothing changes.

It’s the pace at which the AB farm generates the mats compared to other farms like SW that’s the problem.

A farm that produces 100 logs per day is going to affect the market a lot more quickly than a farm that produces 50 logs per day – where the logs both farms get are identical.

Only those who do not know the hot maps would make such a claim.

AB is far behind other hot maps. I can empty 100 chaks acids in 30 min in TD, 100 pacts cowbars in 30 mins in VB, and they all u can just switch instance and give the same loot level of AB.

Only AB and DragonStand have the loot phase locked behind events.

if they “fix” the AB multimap, they should make it like VB or TD, spreading like 100 exalted chests over the map.

And how many players religiously farm that for hours and hours? If it was the most profitable, it would be what is done. It must not be the most profitable as people stop to farm AB when it is up.

is only the most popular, being popular, is not proof that it is more profitable, the masses tend to be mimetic and act irrationally. I “farmed” the Hot maps, since launch and I can guarantee that the economy of the three maps(TD, VB, AB) is quite similar.

I checked the Grand Exalted Chest loot on wiki, theres nothing special, is very similar to Crystallized Supply Cache, theres on average 50 in a TD map, if u have more acid to open it, u can just switch map instance like AB, plus theres no meta. Same for VB and cowbars.

The AB farm is just placebo effect. Ironically the meta-event, which locks the loot phase behind him,(unlike VB and TD that allows straight run to collect the loot), is what makes AB just less boring than running day and night in VB or TD.

In terms of economy, what happened to prices was not accidental, but more deliberate. Apparently it is the intention of Anet to make the HoT maps the big farms of materials in the game. That was their intention to launch the patch that makes it easier to obtain keys.

Player Housing? anytime soon?

Im not into a “big” housing system.

But a kind of room where there medals, ranks, trophies and things that player accomplish, could be simple and easy to implement, and would not require so many resources from game/development.

It is very strange that the commander of the pact, the killer of 2 dragons, looks like a nomad and dont have his personnal bunker.

hope the staff think on this with care.

i have no issues with my ranger, the normal behavior of companions is try res u. marjorie always came resurrect me. I noticed that it’s something to do with the distance between the npc and me.

and im kinda into hibrid builds, not the meta ones. my ranger uses rampager armor, the pet was tiger, the Tiger is very aggressive, test it..

Guild Wars 2 as a Real Time Strategy Game?

I do not remember where and when I read it. It seems that the RTS approach was what inspired WvW. It was probably what inspired the approach of large meta events that have in some maps and thing “commander”. … RTS has always been my great passion. When the Warcraft they limited the number of units to only 90 and increased the focus on the thing of heroes, I sensed that the game was going through a bad way, then came the announcement that Blizzard would shift it into an MMO. …. It is probably because of this that in Guild Wars 2 I like more the Personal History of the LS2, why the Personal History have more battles “open field” as the LS2 follows a more investigative line, where the plot goes further by “behind secrets hidden behind doors.”

Water in the map!

kitten I hope there is a good amount of underwater content and that they might consider working on that aspect of the game (laying foundations for the purpose of DSD in the future).

Just as they did the thing of gliding to air. They could create a new type of game mechanics to oceans, perhaps control ships in a big ocean, to reach some place after Ring of Fire…… Or some kind of “steam like” submarines… If not to get to a place after Ring of Fire, they could implement some regions inland sea that lies between Ring of Fire, Dragon Stand and Orr. Maybe an adventure involving something around 3 fallen dragons?

Maybe we’re secretly getting another map: Lush Overlook! It’ll be the pass between DS and rata sum, as well as the edge of the continent. The story goes we’ve been tracking Lazarus’ magic signature through the jungle. When we reach the edge of the continent we see a boat or something and conclude he’s heading to the ROF, boom Ember Bay.
How do you think we’ll get the journey to Ember Bay set up?

Yes, the ends of Rata Sum has a lot of potential and a wonderful view at night. The sky is clean and starring and toward dragon stand we can see a great and mysterious mountain. And they also have a harbor.

About Ember Bay journey, if we’re lucky, there no will be another “asura gate”. It seems to be a trend of them involved traveling around aircraft.

Ring of Fire is very near Dragon Stand, will have regard to the second area in DS that have not yet implemented (Deserted Coast and Thorn Hollow)? I’m a huge fan of GW2 and geography maps system. Dragon Stand is in the state of art in visual terms. The idea of map the whole world is like a utopia to me:)

When I started playing, I do not quite understand the purpose of guild wars, then without much to do, I began to explore the maps, I ended up playing for 6 months to complete the Core Tyria. Playing casually, reaching a maximum of 2 hours per day.

For those who enjoy the aspect map exploration game, the HoT maps are a gift from the Gods, are state of the art.

For some reason that I do not know explain, I really like Dragon Stand. This map has the mysterious atmosphere that there is always something to discover. The meta-event with the Vigil leading the final blow in mordremoth, is one of the best.
