Or, alternatively, stop trying to force your minority view on the majority of players. It was made clear from the start that there would be no mounts. Now stop being a crybaby because you could not be bothered to do any research before purchasing the game.

I tend to skim past threads titled “my suggestion” etc because on the few I bothered viewing, they turned out to be useless mounts/raids/gear progression demand threads which have been done to death already with a lot of shouty all-caps text speak gibberish.

Anyway, back to the point, I would love to see a spectate option for PvP in general like GW1. I wasted a lot of time watching these matches in the previous game and it would be a nice addition here too.

The only purpose inspecting serves is to stroke the egos of elitists who have nothing better to do. It’s hard enough trying to do a dungeon run without elitists calling the shots over who can join their special party.

I’m really getting bored with this tired argument. Just try getting a group of five together for story mode dungeons without sitting around for three hours, dealing with prima donnas who want to speedrun everything and elitists who demand to view your armour spec once you’re inside a dungeon (and then promptly bail at the first opportunity they get)and then come back here and use that tedious argument again.

I want to be able to enjoy these dungeons, not put up with a bunch of whinos who want to speedrun everything for the “phat loot”.

I know this thread is old, but the guild invite spam is getting beyond ridiculous now. There needs to be an option to autoblock/auto-decline all incoming guild invitations and possibly whispers as well.

This morning, I was bombarded with a combination of guild invites and whisper spam inviting me to join certain guilds, whilst all the while a few of us (none of whom were doing the actual spamming) were battling a champion mob. I know that setting my appearance to invisible gets rid of the whispers but it does nothing about the invite spam.

By “purpose”, you mean sitting around for three hours trying to pull a 12-man team together (when it’s virtually impossible already to find a 5-man team to run a dungeon), a further two hours of planning and discussing tactics and then another couple of hours of actual raiding peppered with shouts of “noob” and “stick to the plan!” followed by an underwhelming boss battle and poor loot drops. So that’s seven hours of “work” for what again? There’s no fun in this old, tired mechanic.

I don’t know who this “we” is that you speak of, but this player does not want raids.

As for my post being unintelligent and non-contributing, the same can be said for the flood of mount and raid spam that do the rounds every few days. Yes, it may not be the same people posting, but it’s no coincidence that every few days we get around three or four near-identical threads posted in one day by people who appear to view the search function as something that’s beneath them.

Seeing as these character auras appear to do absolutely nothing in the game anyway, why not just get rid of them full stop? The targeting system is already a mess and these auras do not help in the slightest.

Those “p0rn” sounds are actually the sounds the female NPCs make when they’re stretching, but seemingly stuck in a loop. You can mainly hear them in the bank in DR. As I pointed out in another thread, it feels akin to entering a brothel.

I assume it’s a bug because when this sound’s playing out, none of the female NPCs in the immediate vicinity are actually stretching.

But minis are collectibles!

I see what you mean though. There should be an option to lock individual items in your inventory so that they don’t automatically get transferred when you hit Deposit All Collectibles.

For the time being, use a Bag of Invisibility to store your minis.

I think it would be pretty cool if people actually bothered to use the search function instead of starting nearly-identical threads every day.

The worst one I’ve come across so far is at the bank in Divinity’s Reach. A constant string of female groans (not seemingly coming from any of the NPCs in there) playing at random pitches so quickly that it almost sounded like I had stumbled into a brothel.

It must be a glitch. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself every time I have to go in there.

I disagree completely with what the OP has said. Dungeons are pretty much off-limits to anyone except elitist snobs anyway, so why make it even easier for them to discriminate? You’d almost be forgiven for believing that these self-styled elitists begging for /inspect options had never been noobs themselves in the past.

Ah, but you see David.4821 entered the game on day one at level 80 and equipped with full exotics with a clairvoyant sense of dungeon layouts. Not once was he ever a noob who tagged along with better players than himself who actually bothered to show him what to do. It’s people like him that make me wish for soloable/scalable dungeons.

How about combat mode? It allows you to play without holding down the right mouse button and puts a fixed cross hair or circle on your screen. ANet already said that while they can’t authorize it, because they never formally authorize any outside programs, it is not a program that will get you banned.

Earlier today my Necromancer was downed by three low-level bandits. Not really an issue until I entered the downed state and all three bandits suddenly became invincible to my attacks.

This was on level ground with no obstructions whatsoever and the bandits were literally stood over my char. Naturally while they were invincible to my attacks, my char was not invincible to theirs and death occurred in mere seconds.

Clearly some work needs to be done with this invincibility issue (along with auto-targeting mobs behind walls and rocks but that’s a debate for another time), because incidents like this and underwater mobs randomly turning invincible when they’re less than an inch from my character’s face is frustrating, and the cheap deaths even more so.

I wish people would learn to use the search function. This feature has been requested loads of times already and ANet have also commented on it, and no, duelling is not something every game needs and the lack of duelling in GW2 does not make the game look bad.

Sadly, this already seems to be the case on the server I’m on. In LA last night there were a couple of people wanting to run a dungeon who were specifically asking for Guardians and healer builds. Unsurprisingly, other players mocked them.

Fractals are bad enough with ostensibly progression-limiting gear tied to a RNG and the show-stopping disconnection issue. Throw in the ability to screen players for the exact gear tied to RNG and you’ve got an awfully ugly picture.

It’s probably one of the reasons why I’m all for scalable/soloable dungeons to be honest. I stopped doing dungeon runs long before the arrival of Fractals because of the number of prima donnas who joined my group and insisted on doing things their way (speedrun, exploration mode only, no MF) and ended up dropping out of the group anyway because the rest of us actually wanted to enjoy the exploration.

I’m against this for all the reasons runeblade mentioned above, though it seems that he himself is one of those “parasites and leechers” because he expects a full party composed of exotics and ascended wearers to carry him through.

IMO, there should be a mechanism in place that allows you to choose whether to spawn where you left off, or at the nearest waypoint to prevent these deaths. I’ve had issues in the past where I’ve logged in only to find my char already dead on the ground, surrounded by an aggro mob triggered by a dynamic event I had no control over.

People will moan about just about anything it seems. It was bad enough reading the Wintersday thread elsewhere on this forum with people whinging all the way through because the patch and event were late in coming and now they’re moaning because it’s finally here?

Though I don’t personally RP myself, I am on an unofficial RP server and the people RPing around me really helps create a more immersive atmosphere.

I agree with the points made by the OP but would also like to add to that list small but immersive features like:

• Useable chairs/benches/beds – in pubs, outdoors, etc by both the player and NPCs,
• Toggleable visibility on gloves and footwear – Allowing a little more visual customisation without sacrificing stats and actually allowing my street urchin elementalist to actually look like one,
• Dynamic weather – Especially in the major towns,
• Daily schedules for NPCs (sleep, work, congregate, converse, drink etc like the Elder Scrolls games) so that 90% aren’t just standing around doing nothing though obviously that would probably take a lot of time to implement.
• A day/night cycle that matters – different (or shadier)NPCs available at night and nocturnal mobs.

Some of these suggestions (like useable seats) would aid RPing to a degree whilst the rest would add more to the general atmosphere of the game allowing for greater immersion.

Not just charr. What about the asura? There would be absolutely no way they could balance themselves in high heels.

If ANet focused itself entirely on bugfixing then there would be people moaning about the lack of new content. It seems that they can’t win either way.

Another vote for an Android app here. Not everyone is locked into the iOS ecosystem.

Why don’t raids belong? Because you don’t like them? There hasn’t been a single GOOD answer on why the people who enjoy raids shouldn’t be able to do raids. For how much ANet talked about having options and stuff like that, those options seem to get pretty exclusive of what some people might want to do.

But then since the point of those options is for stuff like if you don’t want to do FotM, they’ll add ways to get the same rewards without doing them, meaning you’re not forced into raids, what effect does it have on you if someone else is in a raid group? What does raid content actually hurt in this game? It seems like more people wanted a single player game with a chat window than a group based game.

My objection to raids is the same as with mounts and gear progression. People knew what kind of game they were purchasing and ANet made it no secret that they weren’t trying to ape every other MMO out there.

People who want raids seem to be the same people who want GW2 to be exactly like the subscription MMOs they’ve come from. People like me however came to GW2 precisely because it had none of that grind that other MMOs espoused.

Can you honestly tell me what is fun about doing raids? I’ve done them in the past and they weren’t fun. Sitting around for a couple of hours to pull a group together, a further hour discussing tactics and then four hours of mindless button-mashing and grinding for a crappy reward at the end. Where’s the fun in that? It was more like a job – a job where I was paying for the privilege of being yelled at by so-called “elitists” who insisted on doing things their way for gear that was slightly better than what they already had.

Your suggestion that raids would not need gear progression doesn’t hold, unfortunately. Once we have raids, the same vocal elite will then demand better and better rewards; they will demand an inspection system to lock out anybody who doesn’t meet their ideal character/gear build, and like the current dungeons, they will become exclusive to elitists only whilst the rest of us struggle to pull together a more casual group who actually want to enjoy playing the game.

The only saving grace is that there would be no holy trinity, but you can bet your bottom dollar/pound/euro that these elitists will be demanding that back too.

I agree on both points. With those particle effects, it can be nigh on impossible to set ground markers for spells because it’s extremely difficult to see them when there’s a lot of explosions going on. Likewise, using quick cast is just as useless because the mouse pointer blends in with the rest of the bright colours on the screen, so an option to change its colour would be somewhat useful.

As frostkisses has pointed out, this topic has been raised countless times and a search would have brought them all up. In fact, a similar new thread was locked a few hours ago.

Raids IMO have no place in GW2. I personally could not think of anything more dull.

It’s also annoying because you don’t necessarily return to normal running speed once you’re free of the mobs.

Honestly, when I first came across this in the Norn starter area (rampaging minotaurs), I thought it was a server bug when my running speed was cut by three quarters, not a feature. I’m fairly certain that the third beta weekend did not have this annoying feature, so it was probably something that was introduced to the final release.

It’s also annoying whenever you inadvertently enter an aggro mob area and you end up surrounded by several mobs who can run and attack at varying speeds whilst your own character is reduced to a crawl. ANet have gone on record in the past as saying if a feature isn’t fun, it is then removed. Well, ANet, being forced to crawl whilst being aggroed by half a dozen mobs who can still move with speed isn’t fun!

I’ve responded to similar threads to this one before, but my opinion still stands: Scalable dungeons (1-5 players) for both story and explorable modes so that you are not dependant on pulling together a 5-player party.

Someone will wade in here and say “but GW2 is an MMO! Go play Skyrim if you want a single player game.” but to useless arguments like that, I simply say, try and show me a PUG made up of people who actually want to do story or explorable modes, complete with cutscenes with no intention of speedrunning the whole thing and I’ll show you a bridge I have for sale.

Why not ask them what they’re wearing? All inspection does is allow elitists to kick out anyone from their PUG whose armour doesn’t meet their personal requirements, and dungeons are already pretty much inaccessible to many people already.

You can only group if you can actually manage to find one. That’s the problem, and seeing as the personal story also requires dungeon runs that leaves most of us out of luck.

I gave up running dungeons a long time ago because 1) I could never find a group that actually wanted to explore the dungeon rather than speedrun it, 2) some members of the group insisted on specific armour builds, and 3) nobody wanted to run story mode. Those that did insisted on skipping cutscenes or running on ahead.

I’m 100% in favour of the OP’s suggestion.
