I’ve said it from the start – this should have been a visibility toggle like the shoulders, gloves and helmet. After all, several other MMOs manage to do this without any problems and this was something I remember being asked for even in beta all those years back, so it’s ridiculous that it’s come to this.
I looked at the prices on the TP. Truly a fine example of the Emperor’s New Clothes (Shoes?).
People are more interested in toogle of Chest armor, especially for Norn (tattoo) and Charr (fur).
Don’t worry. Anet will make that option a needlessly convoluted and grindy mess as well…
It’s just a ridiculous situation all-round really. The emperor’s new clothes (shoes?) with a 3500g price tag.
The only thing that’s going to compete for my time in the next couple of week’s is No Man’s Sky. A 50/50 split I reckon.
When I want to go play outside, I just play Ingress. Simple.
I gave Ingress a try the other day when I gave up waiting for Pokemon Go to connect to the servers. Seems like a nice distraction when I’m on my lunch break.
Another week, another fad tie-in. Still, at least I can actually get on GW2’s servers, unlike Pokémon Go.
I would really love a /dab emote. It would be straight up, hands down, THEE most epic emote of all time.
Yeah, until the next “epic” flash-in-the-pan dance fad comes along… Should take a couple of weeks.
Seriously, fad emotes and stupid internet memes are the last things this game needs.
Keep that on the NA servers then, the rest of us don’t give a _ _ _ _.
How do you know the rest of us don’t give a toss? Did you personally ask every single player on the EU server? You certainly didn’t ask me, so don’t presume to speak on my behalf.
Seriously, why do people keep starting nonsensical threads like this?
1. Invisible shoes
2. Electric Guitars.
3. Some sort of Automatic chest/bag/container opener so I don’t need to open a box that has a box that contains a bag.1.Is already in the game, you need to defeat invisible mushrooms for a chance to get them.
Yes, but it seems some people would actually be willing to hand over cash for this rather than endlessly grind a mushroom farm every day. Personally, invisible footwear should’ve been a toggle switch in the first place, like helmets, gloves and shoulders.
Wow, now if only there was some mega thread somewhere on this very forum where a handful of players demanding Anet cater solely to their needs and desires exists. Oh wait – IT’S ON THE VERY SAME PAGE AS THIS THREAD.

My one and only thought on this is – Don’t be silly.
The scaling system is one of the good things about GW2 and I wished that other MMOs used the same system. It makes low-level areas worth visiting again and again, not something that can be steamrolled through and forgotten about. In other games, once you’ve completed the quests (or in the case of ESO, levelled so fast that the quests no longer give XP) there’s no reason to stick around the starter maps. Not so with GW2.
I have around 230g. I think the most I’ve ever had at any one time is around 300g but I usually convert gold to gems for things like character slots, transmutation charges or occasionally new dyes which can often fetch a pretty penny on the TP.
Well, there’s always April Fool’s, although there’s also the foolish who will try to tenuously apply real-world analogues to the in-game jokes to declare their faux-rage – see last year’s GW aeroplane event, and GW1’s Gwen-chan event as examples high levels of indignant rage amongst those seeking to find offence in everything.
So yeah, is there any way to know how much players play the game per day? Or maybe currently in the game?
Why does it matter?
Given how the video game industry behaves these days – pushing out unfinished, broken, micro-transaction-laden anaemic products at a high price tag (combined with review embargoes) – it makes absolutely no sense to be to hand over money months in advance for something entirely unseen.
The sad thing is though, the industry gets away with it because there will always be a minority of people who will hand over cash in a flash because of some misguided loyalty to a given publisher or developer and then attempt to shut down any dissent from the rest of us who prefer to be better informed about what they’re stumping up the cash for.
In the case of HoT – I still don’t have it, and from reading these forums and elsewhere, I have learned that because I’m a dirty casual who prefers to play games for fun rather than grind away what little free time I have, I learned that this expansion wasn’t for me.
More violets, anyone?
Less violence, I say.
Bah. More violence, less violets I say!
Back to the topic, there needs to be a change in how the targeting system seems to prioritise the player interaction between a wandering NPC and a service NPC (in fact, the targeting system needs an overhaul in general). At the moment, I could have my character directly face a service NPC and have a wandering NPC wander up behind my character (and indeed the camera) and hitting F will automatically cause my character to turn around and greet the wandering NPC despite facing the service NPC.
You do realise this thread has been dead for two years, right?
Outside’s weather is broken. Winter was hot enough to give me sunburn and Spring so cold it’s been snowing all day. Also, snow is cold and causes weird pixellation issues when it hits my eyes. The waypoint system is broken too – I gave Outside’s waypoint system a try today, only they’re called “airports” and bafflingly it took me 25 real hours to travel from the starter area (United Kingdom) to a small island on the other end of the map (Australia) and I had to make the journey with 200 or so other players at precisely the same time. It also cost me most of the gold I was carrying at the time.
There’s other things that’s odd about Outside too – my clothes wear out simply by wearing them and there’s no reliable way to fix this short of spending what little gold I have left in places called shopping malls; my hair grows on its own accord and has started to change colour from brown to grey, and I’ve noticed my skin becoming more and more wrinkly as I’ve levelled up. All these aspects about this game needs nerfing if I’m being honest as it’s not exactly encouraging long-term play.
Also, there seems to be a requirement to go “offline” for eight hours every night – server maintenance maybe? It’s hard to say because I experience weird things from time to time whilst offline – distorted graphics and garbled conversation with randoms. Apparently, this is called “dreaming” according to the Internet, which is a sort of an inter-connected MMO-type thing filled with cats.
I know this has been asked before, but it seems to only come up on Reddit (going off Google searches) and I’ve no interest in registering for that cesspit, even if the devs seem to spend more time there than here these days.
I recently came back to the game after a six month hiatus and rolled a ranger. So far it’s been a lot of fun except for one small problem – the pet. I stow away the pet when I attempt jumping puzzles or roam around the main cities but as soon as I drop from a ledge greater than a foot in height, my character’s pet reappears again often getting in the way.
A simple hotkey toggle would help (saves me trying to locate the mouse cursor on a busy screen) but a better option would be for a stowed pet to remain stowed until I have specifically used the toggle switch. However, the last time I asked a simple QOL enhancement, Anet made it an ultra-rare 2000+g drop involving mushrooms or something so I’m not too hopeful.
No.
Haven’t seen anyone talking about this anywhere, but wouldn’t it be cool if we could invade other servers in their pve zones? I know we got wvw, but it’s not always too easy to find people to gank or whatever you want to do. I think a invasion system kinda like Dark Souls have wold be pretty cool to have in gw2. What do you guys think?
Then it wouldn’t be PvE, would it? Also, I can’t see what fun there’s to be had in doing this – if you want to mindlessly gank noobs for some pointless internet-cred or to entertain some Twitch morons, there’s plenty of other MMOs that will allow you to do that. GW2 isn’t and never will be one of them.
Just what this tired, money-driven, DLC-obsessed, macro-transaction-fleecing “AAA” industry needs… Yet another “Me too!” MOBA.
So, nothing about increasing the drop rate of Invisible Boot Chests and todays Mushrooms are greedy as ever. I guess, I have to buy them now. Oh, wait!
Yeah, their (limited) availability on the TP dried up a long time ago.
This is a ridiculous situation really. OK, there wasn’t a huge demand for a visibility toggle, but the fact I can jump into nearly any other modern MMO and check a box if I want to hide armour pieces (or overlay them with non-armour pieces) and yet here I would be expected to fork over £40 for an expansion I don’t want then grind the same boss every day from here to eternity for a 1/10000 drop merely says to me that this is the biggest troll of them all.
I could say “Well played, Anet”, but I can’t bring myself to stoop to that level.
I haven’t bought HoT yet and have no plans to. From what I’ve read about it, there’s little there that actually holds any interest for me and certainly what little that does cannot justify the inflated price tag.
Why not just add a toggle like they did for the gloves. Seems pretty lame to put something in that people really want with a stupidly low drop rate that doesn’t really do anything game changing. You have a look in mind and you want these… Good luck? :c
It’s pretty simple really.
1. It keeps people on the HoT maps to find them.
2. The ultra rarity of the item encourages people to RMT to be able to purchase them on the TP.I’d imagine if they could go back in time, Anet would absolutely have done the same thing with shoulders and gloves.
So it’s an ultra-rare drop that requires HoT (which I have no intention of buying) to even get to see them drop (or a lot of real money to convert to gold to buy them on the TP) when a simple toggle switch would’ve sufficed.
Yeah, this feels like a real kick in the teeth for those of us who have been asking for a visibility toggle for this over the last three years.
How is this a question?
I don’t think the option is meant to be visible. Assuming that Anet are intending to add a visibility toggle to boots in the future, this is probably an internal placeholder intended for keeping the existing boot stats whilst toggled.
Do you folks think this could become a possibility?
Well, it hasn’t been in the three years it’s been repeatedly asked for…
On Asura and Charr, such an option would be indispensable, but we have NPCs from all races whom seem to forgo any kind of footwear – take Queen Jennah for instance or the many Asura and Sylvari NPCs.
I think such a toggle should be available.
Steam is not the be-all-and-end-all of PC gaming. GW2 has done pretty well for itself over the last three years and doesn’t need to be on there.
OP, you’re not the first special snowflake to post a barely-comprehensible “I’m quitting!” thread on this board, and you won’t be the last.
The game will not suffer in any shape or form by you no-longer being there.
Wasn’t there a similar thread to this yesterday?
This is pretty much the GW2 forum community in a nutshell. A bunch of old, selfish, 9-5 dads and soccer moms that want to keep the game as casual as possible.
This is pretty much the pro-duelling crowd mentality in a nutshell. A bunch of whiny children kittenort to insults when they don’t get what they want.
I agree. There is no reason to not add dueling and mounts other than, “I don’t want it, so I absolutely don’t want others to have it ever.”
I disagree. There is no reason to add duelling and mounts other than, “I want it, so I absolutely don’t care less what others think.”
Also, the only “entitlement” I’m seeing here is from the special snowflake who started this thread when there is already an active Duelling thread in place. Spamming new threads for the sake of it when you’re not getting your own way OP is being entitled.

Everyone knows that Pascal cards will be the bomb when they’re released sometime next year and every PC gamer in the know is already saving up for them.
Again with this “everyone” nonsense. Just try speaking for yourself and stop speaking for the rest of us, ok?
everyone is just so short sighted.
the sales on steam would be extra profit.
the cut will be worth it.
Clearly if Anet thought it was worth it, it would’ve been on Steam at launch. It clearly isn’t worth it to them.
I wonder if the OP gets equally offended by Islamic State destroying anything they see as “unislamic” or “pagan”, like the reports of the destruction of the Temple of Bel coming out of Syria this morning, or the beheading of muslims who follow the “incorrect” version of Islam in their criminalistic view?
Probably not. Far easier to get worked up over a vague symbol in a computer game!
Funny, really. There’s a lot of annoyed people on here obsessing on thewhole F2P thing, yet when I went in-game last night, the atmosphere could not be more different… Or welcoming.
Standing outside DR in Queensdale (Piken Square server), a crowd had amassed setting off fireworks, laying on food and all sorts, welcoming in the new players – A massive contrast to what I’ve seen in other games that went F2P and a massive contrast to all the QQing on this forum! I think that says a lot about the (in game) GW2 community as a whole.
OP, who is this “we”?
The entire GW2 playerbase?
You and your guildies?
…or just you?
I certainly don’t recall wanting capes, so you’re not speaking about me.
We are getting raids and f2p aids.
Source?
Guys, check the thread Ayrilana linked above. The EULA thing isn’t new and isn’t a threat, as researched in that thread.
You’re assuming that the conspiracy nuts on these forums are actually interested in the truth. This is why this new thread was created in the first place, because the OP had seen that other thread and tried to run with a new conspiracy long after the original had already been debunked.
And, off topic, and, it’s not my thing, and… but lol. Just lol:
Test.8734:That kind of empty hyperbole is below you.
Followed by:
Destiny is one of the worst games released this century so far.
But it’s true! $500 million budget – $10 million on the game and $490 million to Eurogamer to run near-daily articles about this overhyped, DLC-laden, empty, grindy, generic shooter of a game!
MMOs that were supposed to be the “death” of Guild Wars 2:
Wildstar
Archeage
Generic WOW expansion
Secret World
Elder Scrolls Online
…and many more.
I see GW2 is still very much alive. Sadly, I also see that the doomsayers and trolls who hyped up these other games and threatened to leave en masse when they launched are still here like a bad stench.
DX11/12 threads are the new Mounts threads.
No need. You simply didn’t need to click the link that brought you to this page.
That doesn’t fix anything since the title of the threads still show up, anyways I gave my feedback!
I manage to avoid clicking on the raids!/mounts!/race change!/DX11 NAO! threads that keep popping up almost daily. It’s not hard.
This was actually asked for year or more ago, and turns out some of the devs actually like being shoeless, however nothing came of it so…. not looking good for you.
Supposedly a dev responded on a similar thread a year or so back on the PvP forums (back when the Suggestions forum still existed – but for some reason they responded to a thread on a forum many PvEers would never have seen) which few people saw saying that the only reason why they allowed the toggling of helmets and gloves was because of clipping issues on certain armour configurations (we had to fight tooth and nail to get a ‘hide helmet’ option during closed beta) but they had no plans to extend this funtion beyond those two things – then they added pauldrons to the mix.
I’m not expecting much out of this thread TBH because aside from a few people here, there is more vocal support for toggleable features on Gemstore outfits, and Anet will probably consider that option instead because there’s potentially money in it for them (people holding off buying outfits because only the headpiece can be hidden) in the long term.
Can I get a hide option to not see all the players that want to “hide x item” ? these threads are point less since everyone wants their own custom version of the game.
No need. You simply didn’t need to click the link that brought you to this page.
I support this. In fact, I would love to see an option to hide EVERY piece of armor, similar to what RIFT lets you do. It’s not unprecedented for NPCs to walk around barefoot (Jennah) or bare-chested (many Norn NPCs, even in the snow), and some outfits would look best with gloves hidden.
But “hide shoes” would be a great start.
Indeed, what’s the point of having tattoos in the case of Norns or luminescence (Sylvari) if you can’t show any of it off? It’s the equivalent of the old RPG joke where you spend hours crafting the face of your character, hair, beard and all only to slap a helmet over everything once you get into the game.
Do you want to get ringworm? Because that’s how you get ringworm.
Or paranoia about getting ringworm. Seriously, I must’ve gone barefoot many times around Australia when I was out there a few years back (it’s a common sight) and there’s not a single trace of ringworm anywhere in my body. I must be missing out!
In all seriousness, though, I don’t see why not. It can help people make new styles with the wardrobe without missing out on armor, and it could help with people’s RP and/or immersion.
The reason why I want to see such an option in this game is bacause many of the light armour boots/shoes really don’t seem to match the rest of the armour (on female human characters anyway – they seem to work better on male ones), and on some sets like the embroidered set, bare feet just seems to be a better fit.
Oh, and don’t even get me started on the Asura and Charr…
