Funny, with a job, social life and other commitments, I’ve only managed to clock up 820 hours across my four characters since beta and have yet to experience most dungeons (CBA with the elitism and speedrunners), don’t have a single legendary and certainly don’t feel like I’ve exhausted or grinded out everything this game has to offer.

So when it comes down to it, the pro-mount argument can be boiled down to the following:

1) Mounts are cool.
2) I want one.
3) Other MMOs have them.
4) I’m a Skritt obsessed with collecting shiny things.

Hardly compelling reasons for wasting resources and besides, you already have “mounts” in the Gem store. Go and play with those.

How many more Mounts threads do we need? Is this the level of desperation the pro-mount camp has lowered themselves to that they need to start a completely new thread every few hours if they don’t get their own way?

One-second lag spikes every three to four seconds in game causing momentary freezing and rubberbanding. This has been going on for the last couple of days (possibly longer, but I’ve only been playing intensively the last two days) and is happening in Divinity’s Reach, Queensdale, Lion’s Arch, Clock Tower (rendering playing it pointless), EotM and probably anywhere else that isn’t a solo instance.

I’ll try an /ip and tracert later when I’m playing again.

Well, if those “ppl” (learn to spell for Grenth’s sake) go off to WoW for another month of grinding to end game, can we at least ensure they stay there this time, rather than coming back here time and time again, posting every other month that expansion X or generic trinity mount-humping grinder Y is going to “kill” GW2. It gets tedious reading this rubbish after a while.

WoW, Neverwinter, EQN, ESO and ArcheAge – all games that were going to “kill” GW2 either through launch or expansions, but guess what? GW2 is still here, as too, unfortunately the doomsayers who keep threatening to leave every time a new MMo goes live.

As for my plans – Well, I might roll a new alt to see what impact the changes have had, but more likely I’ll continue with my existing chars and continue exploring the world since, even on my 80 necro, I’ve probably only seen about 45% of the map so far (and only fully explored about 15% of that!).

One thing I will be doing less of though is visiting these forums. There’s only so much white noise one has to filter out to discover threads of interest (like this one) against a background of organised complaining by flouncers who threaten to ragequit every time a new announcement is made or a new patch is released and yet are still here. It gets more and more tedious every time.

It looks like the total number of results returned is restricted to around 300 items, which was probably the same as it’s always been, but now that it appears as one big scrollable list rather than separated into pages of ten items each, it feels like it’s fetching fewer items than before (it isn’t).

The best you can probably do is a search by rarity (click on the cog icon) if you have a rough idea of what you’re looking for, or search by name.

Roll a new character. There’s your race change.

GW2 generated about 25 million dollars in last 3 months, a little bit less compared to Q1(30 million $), which is almost the same as 2013 Q4. I don’t have early figures about the whole 2013 fiscal year, but here I can come up with some financial status about GW2. Yes it remain stable, and is probably going to reach 100 million dollars at the end of 2014. I know YoY2013 is a little bit decreasing, but if u take a look at other major mmos on the market (swtor, wildstar, eso, ff14). I have done some research on these mmos (each game forum, 3rd party figures from mmorpg.com),every figure I saw told me GW2 surely has the largest player base among those MMOs, but nearly gets the lowest revenue(swtor get 150million in 2013, which has the smallest player base among those mmos above).

Here are some thoughts about why it has gone this way. One thing must be the B2P model. GW2 is the only B2P game here, this surely won’t get as much as P2W and P2PØ at the beginning, but what comes after is the gemstore. As GW2 is not a P2W game, anet can’t put stat related stuff in the gemstore like other MMOs, but they can surely sell good looking skins, which they didn’t. You can’t say black lion weapons are awesome nor armor skins from “style” section in the gemstore. Some of them are even ugly. I believe this is the only mmo that I complain compay dont sell enough on their real money in game market. This is weird, if I work as a product manager who develop few products that won’t match the needs of the customer, I would probably get fired many times already, and from the fiscal report we can see the most revenue anet got, was from gemstore transactions and new players (China launch is not included in 25million because it’s break down to loyalty revenue). Both of them are actually the same thing because people buy stuff from gemstore no matter if they are new or veterans.

Summary: Of all the mmos that was mentioned before, GW2 has largest player base, while making the lowest revenue (it’s still stable 2 years after launch which is good). Anet you really need to reconsider the stuff on gemstore and decide what to do next. Do it quickly.

I will never pay for a subscription in any MMO, especially one that charges an up-front fee for the box and expansions (WoW, Wildstar, ESO etc.) and then continues charging for the privilege of continuously accessing said content you’ve already paid for. Hell, ESO even locks an entire class behind a THIRD paywall.

Audio lag and drop out has pretty much been an issue since Beta. I’ve tried playing around with the sound settings, even turning quality etc. to minimum and it makes no difference. GW2 is the only game I have where I experience these issues.

I’m not sure if it’s down to the game engine struggling to manage all the assets (both sound and visual) in one go, or if a lot of the sound assets are being streamed from the server for some reason rather than loaded off the HDD.

Yeah, the artists really put a lot of effort into making the environment’s and characters pretty. Now if only we ca get first person to take even pretty screenshots (i.e. without my charr photo bombing the whole time :P).

I wish there was a free cam mode similar to Oblivion and Skyrim’s ‘tfc 1’ command where you could position the camera anywhere you liked for some great photo opportunities.

Rummaging through a load of pics I took a while back and annoyingly, this one is the only one where I remembered to turn off the UI.

Taken just before LS2 featuring my ele alt I was levelling up at the time. I thought those Zephyrite ships were a breathtaking sight at the time.

I honestly wish there was a form of direct trading to circumvent the tax on the auction house. I doubt there aren’t ways for anet to implement systems to reduce scams and trade abuse to a minimum and it is a matter of choice for someone to engage in direct trading and assume the risks. Having the option to trade with others doesn’t mean you have to use it, it wouldn’t really affect the tp given that its not based on a single server population but the entire game population for the region.

If Anet did this, then these forums would be flooded with QQing “I got scammed” threads in no time.

I’d say most light armour would look better with boots disabled. For some reason, the boots never seem to match the rest of the armour set, except for the human (female) T3 cultural armour. For Asura and Charr, boots in general just don’t seem to work at all.

225g here. 1 lvl 80, 4 >lvl20s and no legendaries (not interested) or ascended gear. Been playing on and off since launch but rarely play these days due to work.

2. It would implement features for riding them like different Swing styles/moves
3. They could make the game more fun haveing to actually spend the time riding around the world more to find stuff not just way point there after you’ve only been there once
