We need mounts~!

uknortherner.2670

Why does everyone hate on mounts.
1. There freaking awesome
2. It would implement features for riding them like different Swing styles/moves
3. They could make the game more fun haveing to actually spend the time riding around the world more to find stuff not just way point there after you’ve only been there once

1. No, they’re not.
2. In what context? PvP? dungeons? PvE?
3. As if people would actually do that. Their idea of “fun” would be parking their humongous mounts at strategic points in jumping puzzles making them impossible to complete; obscuring as many people as possible who have gathered together to chat (another form of trolling against RPers) amongst other things.
4. You have the broom from the gem store. There’s your mount.

You haven’t provided a single good reason for why mounts should be implemented into this game.

Not just the Dry Top megaserver, but also the instanced Living Story components as well. I was getting chronic lagging this morning both in the time it took for particle effects to update properly (or even bothering to appear on-screen at all), and even key presses going unregistered no matter how many times I was trying to cast spells and dodge. These issues were in addition to server lag/server dropout issues I’ve been getting over the last couple of days.

GW2 needs to gain new features

Makes me glad I’m a casual player then. I haven’t finished this Living Story update yet. I guess I chew my content more before swallowing. ^^

Same here. I have this thing called a “job” which eats up a lot of my free time, and GW2 helps me unwind after a hard day’s work. So far I’ve only done two parts of this living story update because I like to take my time doing it. People who steamroll through content because they have a lot of time on their hands shouldn’t assume that everyone else is in the same position.

I would like to see a full-on expansion at some point, but can you imagine all the moaning that would go on from the serial complainers if there were no free updates for a year whilst the team worked on it?

Saying that they CAN’T do is bullkitten. 16 years ago in UO you ran through a quest line that allowed you to “embrace your Elvish heritage” and gave you the option to change your race from Human to Elf.

They could do it.

You’ve gotta love these armchair developers who believe they know more about the game code than the devs themselves.

Players Grovel (and would pay) for 3 requests

Posted by: uknortherner.2670

uknortherner.2670

Not bothered about any of those things. Sorry.
I’m even less enamoured by the idea of paying to have these things implemented.

What I want to see are useful, functioning features like a proper block function that removes everything associated with a blocked user – whispers, emotes, mail, guild chat visibility and even visibility in general. Additionally, by blocking someone, they should not be able to ‘follow’ me and see where I am in-game.

Also, for RP purposes (not as though Anet actually gives a toss about RP), additional visibility toggles for other armour pieces. Since Anet decided that customisable town clothes are now out of the picture and armour transumations will now cost even more than before, there’s few options less for customising our characters except through overpriced gem store items. Then again, Anet has already said no to toggleable boots so there’s no chance on them implementing any other switches.

No, I would not pay for either of these to be implemented though.

To Those Who Have Quit This Game

Hey, lets give it another shot, they have come closer and closer to perfecting their craft.

i see a bright future and no i am not a fanboy, never been. Either way, i think this game will become better than most of us expect it to become.

I haven’t left, and I have never started a flounce thread, but I am finding myself playing less and less these days. Part of it is down to the fact I now have a job, but a lot of it is down to Anet taking away the things I enjoyed about this game because of a few vocal elitists calling the shots.

Magic find as an item stat? Gone because the elistists viewed it as “leeching”.
Queensdale champ train? Gone, because casuals were making more gold (supposedly) than the elitist-controlled zerker runs in the dungeons. Elitists moaned about it, and Anet capitulated.
No gear grind? Gone because the elitists demanded extra tiers to elevate them above us “casual” players (see: Ascended gear)
Casual-friendly dungeons? You’re kidding of course. The elitists will not allow anyone near them who is not equipped to the nines in full zerker gear and a minimum of 5,000AP. Same goes for fractals and open-world “raids” – something else the elitists demanded and then complained about because they couldn’t keep ordinary players out.
RP? Forget it. Thanks to the megaservers, random encounters with RPers are now virtually impossible. The new wardrobe system was also a kick in the teeth for those of us who liked to customise our characters without paying out huge wads of cash to do so.

I have no intention of leaving, but it’s high time Anet realised there’s another 95% of the player base out there who want to play the game their own way (and not as a second job), and not the way these elitists demand they play it.

There’s so many people on the GW2 forums that say they’ve left or hinted they left, yet still feel they care to comment in the forums. confused

Why wouldn’t they? I’m also not playing anymore (I log in sometimes to say hello to guild), but why shouldn’t I visit this hilarious forum and laugh at cheesy comments like this one of youirs and in the same time check out on the progress of a game?
I also haven’t played Mass effect for a while and I still visit bioware forum sometime… Why not?

The difference being you are taking a break from the game whereas these flouncers announce they are permanently leaving it for “better” games – games so good that they still have a lot of free time to come here and keep posting about how “better” those games are and how they are no longer playing GW2.

Megaservers and RP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: uknortherner.2670

uknortherner.2670

I’ve logged in around three or four times over the last week. On Piken Square, my home server, I have seen precisely zero RP in Divinity’s Reach and fragmented RP in Queensdale and Rata Sum. I feel like a complete stranger on my own server: I don’t recognise the players who now inhabit DR, nor their guilds and the RP chatter that used to fill map chat and local chat in the game world has been replaced either by silence, or an assortment of different languages that I don’t understand.

I’m not an RPer. I’m not part of an RP guild (though it would appear that it would’ve made no difference if I was). I switched to PS because I wanted to be immersed by the RPing that went on around me. I miss the random encounters with RPers when I’m out exploring; I miss the RPing that went on around me in the taverns and lodges around Tyria even if I didn’t participate, but above all, I miss the familiarity of seeing certain guilds running RP events outside the main cities, something that has now been completely lost because of this change.

[Suggestion] An idea to battle whisper spam

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: uknortherner.2670

uknortherner.2670

With the way the friends list is set up at the moment, people only have to “follow” you to be classed as a friend (it’s not reciprocal) to see where you are and I don’t think a friends-only whisper option would work because of this.

I find whispers to be annoying in general and no longer have the option enabled in any of my chat tabs. If people want to talk to me, they can use /say or mail me.

PvE Dueling

the forums are split between those that want duels and those who can’t be bothered to decline a duel request.

Ah, of course. Those of us who don’t want duels are in fact lazy and are not in fact fed up with trolls and petulant 12-year-olds who think that bunny-hopping around, whispering “duel me brah” and “u scared?” every five seconds is a perfectly mature way to conduct themselves.

I believe the mentality of the pro-duel camp on this thread is reason enough for duels to never be implemented in this game.

Roleplay?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: uknortherner.2670

uknortherner.2670

Although I’ve said this before, it seems even more relevant now: I chose Piken Square as my home server because although I don’t RP myself, the RP by other players on the server made the world of Tyria that much more immersive. Since the Megaserver went live, that immersion has largely gone as I’m no longer placed on the same instance as the RPers, even in Divinity’s Reach. Instead, I’m now surrounded by bunny-hopping trolls, 12-year-olds who think the height of maturity is to send suggestive whispers to my female chars, which I would probably find discomforting rather than pathetic if I was actually female and morons who think casual racism and homophobia is that more more acceptable and easier to get away with because they’re hiding behind a keyboard.

Such a waste. I miss my old PS community.

I am happy to stand corrected if I misread that info though

It’s a shame the devs didn’t bother responding to similar threads in the PvE parts of the forum, considering there’s probably a few of us that don’t PvP (myself included, though I sometimes do EOTM which is more of a zergfest than PvP) and have no reason to even look at the PvP subforum.

Leveling is the worst it's been

Prior to the patch, playing an elementalist, even in a starter area was an exercise in frustration: Attacks felt weak, and a level 20 ele could easily be one-shotted by a level 4 bandit if you didn’t see the attack coming.

Post patch, I rolled another elementalist to see if anything had change for what I had come to consider a completely useless class. It had: Attacks felt powerful, addiing stones to armour actually felt like it made a difference, and the staff, an incredibly weak weapon before now actually felt like it had a purpose.

My current ele is only level 12 and I have yet to venture beyond Queensdale but the difference pre- and post-patch is like night and day. Stranger still, I’m finding that I’m enjoying playing an elementalist again for the first time since launch.
