If you’d bothered to read the Terms of Service you agreed to when you signed up to play this game, then you already know that at best, you have a right to access GW2. That is what you paid for.

You have the right to make suggestions on this forum. You do not have the right to dictate ANet policy. ANet are under no obligation whatsoever to “fulfil” your demands.

Living in the EU is irrelevant. It does not make your demands or opinions any more important than the next person’s. I live in the UK and I am capable of knowing how to put forward a measured suggestion without resorting to making demands or being self-entitled.

There should be an auto-reject option for duel requests.

I’m sick to death of this analogy. “Guild Wars” was an event in the game’s lore and has absolutely nothing to do with player guilds.

This game has no raids, and hopefully never will.

Seriously, I doubt anyone at ANet are going to listen to someone screaming a list of ultimatums and diktats when there are plenty of other suggestion threads with far more measured arguments.

Sorry OP, but all I’m getting from threads like this is “There are people out there whose play styles differ from my own. This is unacceptable and simply must stop.”

Fortunately, I will continue to play this game as I see fit, rather than as some elitist on a power trip believes I should play.

Some of us came to GW2 specifically to get away from the raids and gear grind mechanics of other MMOs.

ANet have already capitulated to a small vocal elite on gear grind by introducing Ascended-tier gear. Now those same whiners want raids as well. Keep raids out of GW2.

I’m pretty sure this is already the case with human/norn males/females, or at least it did when my characters lost half their armour in the lag-fest known as the Lost Shores opening event. Can’t speak for other races though, unless you mean a gradual appearance of dirt as you move around.

The option to show/hide armour pieces is something I’d like to see though (why should I lose stats for wanting to hide my gloves?), but unfortunately, it seems that ANet have other priorities, like appeasing gear grinders and no doubt raids, inspection and mounts will just be around the corner too.

However, if they added a ‘costume slot’ for armour like what previous games have done, that would be pretty cool although that kind of makes transmutation stones redundant.

Any naked human running around I’ll just treat as a bot and leave them in the dirt when they go down!

As for costume slots, ANet could implement a system similar to LOTRO where you can activate empty cosmetic slots to hide your armour pieces (or insert another armour piece to override the one you’re wearing but keep existing stats). It was one way I could properly roleplay my hobbit, as no self-respecting hobbit wears shoes!

No, I just read the forum rules. If a thread exists that covers something you wish to suggest, you’re supposed to post in there instead and multiple threads already exist for duelling and /inspect. It makes it easier to keep the discussion in one place and also makes it easier for the devs to read.

I’m sure this functionality has been mentioned previously, but I’d just like to point out that I’m one of the guys that would like to see this functionality used a lot more in the future.

I agree. The Lost Shores event was completely unplayable and I ended up dying multiple times (taking heavy damage to my armour, and in one case destroying a piece) because of heavy lag and client instability and this was on an overflow server.

It was all the more difficult because both the mobs and other players kept fading in and out during those moments when the lag passed and I wasn’t surprised to see the event had failed because of it, though I’m left wondering if the event failure is actually a deliberate part of the story chain.

You lose stats that way. Besides which, no matter how many times people have requested the option to show/hide armour pieces (not a fan of hiding chest armour, but each to their own), these requests have been ignored, whereas a few whiny, but persistent people demanding gear progression/grind have been granted their wish in the latest patch even though it goes directly against ANet’s own game philosophy.

Why are some people like the OP completely and utterly incapable of using the search function? This has been discussed far too many times already.

Good luck finding teammates who actually want to work together rather than run off and do their own thing once you enter a dungeon (or bail out altogether when they discover that their teammates aren’t wearing uber-leet armour like themselves). This is why I favour solo play – I actually want to explore and enjoy the dungeons, not speedrun the things like some of the people I used to end up grouping with.

This is one reason why I restrict my friends list to people I know in real life and why I never follow back randoms who choose to follow me. In fact, I hate the “follow” system altogether because unlike a friend invite setup in other games, you cannot stop other people from following you unless you block them completely.

Also, like the first game, ANet for some reason went for an account-based friends system rather than a per-character system which makes it difficult to play a different character without all your friends knowing. In GW1 this was all the more frustrating because I had all the EPs whereas most people on my list only had Prophecies and unless I logged in as invisible (or completely forgot to), It often meant several minutes of sifting through whispers and copy-pasting the same message over and over again.

Use the search function. Duelling has been discussed countless times already.

Except, as marianojc points out, groups are hard to come by or difficult to pull together, so a scaling system or hireable henchmen/heroes would be useful.

Nobody seems to want to do story mode (and those that do always demand that cutscenes be skipped) and in the groups I’ve joined in the past, the first demand has usually been “link your gear” followed by a boot out of the group.

Why should any sane human being have to put up with nonsense like that? If soloing/group scaling making dungeons more accessible to us mere plebs, then who cares if gear stat-addled elitist snobs get offended?

May as well add a solo mode to the dungeons because once the elitists get their way, everyone else will be locked out of the dungeons for good.

Keep GW2 the way it is. All those raid/gear progression advocates have plenty of WoW-clones to choose from. GW2 isn’t one of them and that’s the way it should be.

While they’re at it, stick in an on-screen guide to the game’s alphabet so that I can actually read those posters all over Lion’s Arch.

I would like to see an option for gloves and boots to be toggleable in PvE mode (can’t speak for PvP because I don’t play it), especially for my elementalist. Toggleable chest and leg armour? Neh, not so much – people might mistake my toon for a bot.

Exactly the reason(s) why inspect would be a bad thing. It would just make the elitists like this person here even more egocentric than they are already. Not to mention it gives them an excuse to blame others for their own incompetence in failing to complete dungeons.

It’s also the reason why I want a solo option for dungeons (though set at 10 levels higher for increased difficulty), so I don’t have to put up with these elitists in my group. I’ve dealt with enough of them in the past who have demanded I link all my gear despite the fact I’m the one heading the group and couldn’t give a toss about MF items or gear choice. Competency is all that matters to me.

They’ve already reduced mobility by slowing the player down in combat whilst a mob-swarm assaults you at full speed.

Necromancers and Elemantalists by nature are meant to be ranged. Elementalists in my experience (my main is one) are virtually useless in close-quarters combat.

I’m left wondering how ships could be implemented. The waterways aren’t particularly wide and in most cases are far too shallow. Interesting idea though and a welcome change from the usual cries of “Mounts, NAO!”.

It’s particularly jarring when I enter a tavern or a house and see NPCs just standing around and all the chairs completely empty, or when I see an NPC snoring away on the floor when there’s a bed less than a foot away from them.

You’re assuming that NinjaEd directly posted in this thread rather than one of the daily “Mounts, NAO!” threads that keep turning up and getting merged here.

Anyone who has tried running a dungeon with a random group will know first-hand what a pain it can be. From people breaking off from the group and trying to speedrun (and sending mobs back the other way when they die), to elitists insisting on no MF armour, I have found the experience to be far from fun. For me, the ability to run dungeons solo, but with a difficulty level high enough to not make it a walk in the park would be ideal.

The thing is, the tab target should be an aid, not an auto-aim. Your suggestion would be kinda like putting auto-aim into a first person shooter game.

The thing is, if you’re in the midst of a battle, you tend to only have one finger free to hit tab. Manually clicking on mobs is difficult when there’s a lot of particle effects on-screen and you’re trying to rotate the camera at the same time to see what’s attacking you from behind.

I have the same problem with my bog-standard Microsoft mouse and had just assumed it was the mouse itself that was starting to play up. I can hold down the RMB to rotate the camera, but occasionally, the game will stop registering the right click and free the mouse pointer instead, especially if there’s a lot happening on-screen like a boss battle.

I agree entirely (well, apart from the SWTOR bit because I’ve never played it). My squishy elementalist has this knack of targeting something tens of yards away (both via tab and via auto-targeting) when I’m being assaulted by a mob no less than a couple of feet in front of me and it’s incredibly frustrating.

Equally annoying is when I’m being attacked by a bunch of harpies but my elemantalist conveniently targets that veteran cave troll half a mile away instead and all tabbing does is find anything but the mobs actually attacking me.

There’s enough threads on this already, including a merged one which a simple use of the search function would have shown you. Why make another one?

No, people have suggested it be a gem shop item but AFAIK, ANet hasn’t commented on character customisation yet.

Personally, I’d rather see vendors/NPCs in-game offer such a service for in exchange for in-game currency rather than real money.

I don’t. There’s enough elitism already when it comes to MF items and dungeons. Giving the vocal minority an option to ‘inspect’ other players will more or less lock everyone else out of the dungeons altogether.

I agree with this. Also an option to block whispers too (the only whispers I seem to get is spam for guild invites), though this can be easily achieved with a custom chat tab.

Only if it’s optional. Personally, I don’t necessarily want people on the forums to know what characters I play. I played a few F2P games in the past where character info was tied into my forum account and it made for some annoying stalker-like activity within the game itself.

I imagine it’s probably too bandwidth-heavy (so, expensive) for ANet to afford, though I was sure they mentioned ingame voice chat at a past public event.

I wouldn’t mind if the halo actually represented a selected mob or npc. More often than not, a mob/npc will be highlighted but my character will interact or lock onto something else a good distance away.

I agree with the OP and those who believe that heroes/henchmen should be an option. I am frankly sick to death of trying to run dungeons with a group only to find members bailing or demanding a speedrun when I want to actually explore the dungeons. A solo mode therefore would be ideal for me so I don’t have to put up with this nonsense.

It’s not a case of not posting on the forums but it’s just that people keep starting new threads on the same subjects (mounts, raids, bots) over and over again and they get tiresome very quickly because:

1) It suggests that the thread starter could not be bothered to search the forums to see if the topic has already been discussed (merely typing in “mounts” in the search bar above would’ve brought up the merged thread Awesome linked to),

2) It may lead to the suggestion that the thread starter views themselves as “special” in some way in that they demand their point be heard even though the same point has been made already many times before,

3) They deliberately ignore the general consensus (or even lose an argument) and prefer to spam the same tired argument over and over again,

4) It leads to a lot of noise on the forums which eventually results in the search function bringing up useless threads instead of useful ones.

I’m not bashing you, but believe me – stick around these forums for a few days and you’ll quickly grow annoyed at the influx of duplicate threads retreading the same tired ground again and again!

As Awesome already pointed out, there’s already a merged thread on this. Why did you feel the need to start yet another pointless thread on this?

As others have said, if Anet adds dueling they can add an Option to the Game Menu> Options window that says:

Auto Decline Invitations to Duel
Auto Decline Guild Invites
Auto Decline Party Invites

Really they already should have an option to auto-decline party invites i think. Then.. people who /never/ want to Duel.. or /never/ want to Party.. or never want to be part of any Guild never ever have to manually decline invitation requests. The game does it “silently” and automatically for them.

Absolutely. Especially on the Guild and Party invite front. The number of times I’ve been running a dynamic event (usually a boss battle) and someone’s stood on the sidelines spamming Guild or Party invites to the rest of the group instead of participating is annoying to say the least.

As for dueling, I’ve said it countless times – I have no objection to it as long as I can auto-block duelling requests. I personally find duelling in some games to be nothing more than an annoyance, especially when I have a character doing something else (i.e. crafting).

Another +1 from me. I don’t particularly like the way some gloves work with some armours so it would be nice to hide them. Same for shoes as well. After watching those early elementalist videos a year or so back, I had assumed this would be an option, offering a degree of visual flexibility without sacrificing stats.
