In the closed beta it was available in PvE as the Tribal armour. I wonder why ANet removed it?
I would like to see the SAB made permanent too.
No. I’m sick to death of mount posts and really, that’s all this is.
Strange how I don’t have these problems. I don’t often play W3 but when I do, I’m playing solo and only group up with others if they are heading in the same direction I am (I go on there to explore).
You say that you want to build your own device to get walls down. Now let’s be serious – how many sieges have you read about in real life where a lone warrior has successfully orchestrated the wholesale destruction of city defences and the like?
You also say that you want to see enemy players from a distance. I take it you have already explored the graphics options since the last update – specifically the two new settings specific to W3?
You’re also saying that you don’t like four maps when one is good enough? I think that’s the first time I’ve seen anyone complaining that there’s too much content!
Somehow, I don’t think the OP was interested in GW lore. As I said, he drew a direct comparison with WoW and every thread he has started has insisted on introducing one element or other because it’s “cool” and WoW has it, not because it’s lore-friendly.
Nowhere did I assume that every class used by Blizzard was their creation. The OP used WoW as a reference and failed to elaborate on how druids would fit into GW2 lore, just like he failed to elaborate on what purposes mounts would have in the game other than being “cool” and because “WoW has them”.

This isn’t WoW. Simple as.
Is it an easy addition? The game would need some way to tell cities from non cities. If the only difference between the two is that cities do not currently have mobs, then how would the auto toggle know when to turn on or off?
In theory, you would have a whitelist containing the internal names for the major cities and a toggleable flag that causes the player to switch into town clothing when they enter those cities. Once they left that city and enter a region not on the whitelist, then they revert back.
In practice? Who knows. I’m not a programmer so my theory could be a million miles away from reality.
There’s nothing to “discuss”. There’s countless open threads on this tedious topic already and a simple search would have shown you that.
Since the last update, culling in PvE seems to have gotten worse. In Divinity’s Reach, for example, players will flicker in and out of existence over distances greater than say ten yards (metres), or just materialise right in front of my toon, even though they’ve probably been stood there for minutes. In the open world, it’s worse: I’ve battled a few bosses around Queensdale, wondering where the additional damage I’m taking is coming from, only to see a skale or two (or even the odd veteran) pop into existence for a split second right next to my toon before vanishing again.
It has nothing to do with graphics settings (draw distances and everything else other than reflections are set to high or ultra in my game) and everything to do with overzealous server-side culling.
Illegal, where? Not in the UK it ain’t.
Will probably happen eventually as the first game (+EPs) is already available on Steam, albeit at inflated prices.
Er… What happens when an “offline” character goes online?
if you read better the OP, you will see they disappear
Second to last paragraph. D’oh!
Must. Read. Slower.
Er… What happens when an “offline” character goes online?
“Until then, byebye”
Uh huh. It’s one of those posts that manages to combine the tedium of those “Mounts!”, “Houses!” and “I’m leaving!” topics all in one.
Currently, if you set the UI to anything but normal on a non-widescreen setting (4:3, 5:4), you end up with text being poorly rendered or unreadable in the TP due to missing pixels. For people like me playing on such a monitor (1280×1024), screen realestate is essential so I have little choice but to set the UI scale to small.
The solution, it seems is to implement anti-aliasing on the text itself to make it more legible.

Mounts don’t use gas.
Nah, they just expel it.
From http://www.guildwars2guru.com/arenanet-tracker/topic/256859-wvw-end-of-culling-and-pve/
ColinJohansonThe initial release of this system will be for WvW only. There are additional complications we need to solve with PvE due to the number and variety of creatures on screen that WvW doesn’t need to account for. Later this year, we’ll be expanding as much of the changes to the PvE open world as we can as well.
So it seems that they are working on it, but it’s somewhat more complicated than W3 was.
I read somewhere that PvE culling removal was being looked at after W3, but I can’t find the source now. All I do know is that many places like LA and DR appear virtually deserted even though map chat is full of chatter thanks to server-side culling.
I could’ve sworn that in BW3 you could see players for miles in PvE.
There is absolutely no way we should be expected to pay real money to wear the same clothes as NPCs in-game, and I do wish that people making these suggestions would stop placing all their cards on the table.
Unique clothing items? Perhaps. Clothing that already exists on townsfolk and other NPCs? Absolutely not. They should be buyable from an in-game clothing vendor, not with real cash.
@OP
Mini Pets
I ended up selling mine on the TP once I realised there was no way to keep them on me (apart from using an invisibility bag). Mini pets are a nice idea, but their implementation leaves a lot to be desired.
City Clothing
As it stands, you can assign a hotkey to switch between gear and clothes. Just assign one and use that when you enter a city. At the moment, town clothes are largely a waste of time as you can’t acquire any of the clothing the other townsfolk wear and you simply look the same as every other player unless you hand over gold/cash for gems.
Shared Gold Between Characters
I just use the bank for that. I keep an average of 10g in there in case I need it for any of my alts.
Wait, you saw it being played, didn’t like the mechanics yet bought it anyway and now you’re moaning about it? Right.
I get the impression that to most hardcore players, the very concept of “fun” is an irrelevance. It’s numbers, kills, gear, money, prestige. The game is simply a second job to them.
For people like me who sit somewhere in between casual and hardcore, GW2 suits me fine.
OP, you do realise that many of these small guilds are actually made up of family members or close friends who want to play together, right? Who are you to dictate how small or large a guild must be to exist?
Want a trinity? Go play a game that has it and stop trying to turn this one into WoW II.
The update was announced on here hours ago. It’s hardly ANet’s fault that you didn’t bother to read the announcement.
And thank you once again for reminding me that GW2 is a unique community that loves to use the word “elitist” (meaning people who maintain standards) because of the dumbed down level of community who needs carrying.
It’s like talking to brick walls with you. Whatever, I’ll just get back to enjoying the game whilst you continue your witchhunt. Nobody cares.
@Phira: It sounds to me like it’s the MF “leechers” who are scraping your corpse, and this dead horse of a thread off the ground.
Thank you for joining us and further reinforming me of the large proportion of people who leech and get carried.
Again, you seem to be talking about yourself. Grow up and learn to play the game instead of moaning about players who are clearly superior to you.
And you are defending MF gear because?
Because it annoys whining, scapegoating elitists like you. I choose to play the game how I see fit, not how you would demand me to.
@Phira: It sounds to me like it’s the MF “leechers” who are scraping your corpse, and this dead horse of a thread off the ground.
OP, who is this “everyone” you speak of? You don’t speak for me.
I want to know if there’s a way I can grab a botter’s ID once they’ve done their vanishing act. I’ve seen botters spawn at a node, mine it and vanish again, but by the time I’ve realised what’s happening and moved my mouse pointer over to them, they’re gone.
It just won’t stop will it? Day after day, another bloody mount thread. Give the small group of overtly-vocal, entitled whiners a cosmetic mount and they’ll demand a mount with stats. Give them a mount with stats and they’ll demand flying mounts. Give them flying mounts and they’ll demand $15 mounts a la WoW. Where does it end?
ANet need to make a clear statement on this so that these threads can be finished off once and for all.

If your phone not iOS, not Android and not even WinMobile – I dunno for what you are still using that garbage
Believe it or not, some of us want phones with battery life measured in days, not hours.
I would add an automatic ban on repeat threads on mounts.
Not this again…
Considering that trying to pull together a good group for dungeons (i.e. one without elitists and morons wanting to kick you after the final boss) is about as pleasurable as pulling teeth at the moment I would like to see the return of heroes/henchmen. Why should I, and people like me be dependent on people moaning about MF gear and stats, or trolls who want everyone else to do the hard work before kicking them from the group to invite their friends after the final boss?
This is an increasingly common problem and yet another reason why I can’t be bothered running dungeons any more. You should be able to report them for griefing seeing as that’s basically what they’ve done to you. If you can’t do it in-game then see if there’s a report option on the support site.
Being able to sit in a chair would be a start…
It will never happen. If you want to buy your way to the top, then there’s plenty of other games out there that can meet your requirements. ANet have made it clear that there will never be anything available in the Gem Store that will allow players to buy power.
As far as I’m concerned, Ascended gear should never have made it into the game in the first place.
The real question is, are daily mount threads needed? I believe the answer is NO.
I think almost all Guild Wars 2 players are getting bored of this topic being posted day after day after day.
Then it wouldn’t be “guesting”, would it?
The only “horde” I’m seeing here is the dozens of guesting threads being started here by irate elitists looking for yet another scapegoat to blame along with those dastardly MF users and “noobs”. Was there something wrong with the countless other threads you could’ve posted in?
Oh, and:
I could have put it in the suggestions thread and I no doubt some dead piece of weight will move it there, but in the mean time it will get more visibility here.
You mean the mods? Hope you enjoy your infraction then.
(edited by uknortherner.2670)
This is really getting beyond a joke.
There’s enough threads on this already. What is so hard about using the search function and contributing to one of those instead of blindly starting another one?
15% weekly interest would lead to hyperinflation very quickly, not to mention it would make acquiring gems with in-game gold a doddle.
With real banks, high interest accounts usually come with restrictions, i.e. limits on deposits/withdrawals and even service charges for using that facility. Unless such restrictions are applied to the in-game bank as well, you would pretty much end up with a currency that’s fundamentally worthless.
1. Defeats the whole point of guesting, no?
6. There are two different teams – one working on content and one on bugs.
8. As I don’t use either of these abominations, I agree. However, announcements are usually linked to in the Wiki anyway (link at the top of the page).
10. As far as I’m concerned, with the countless repeat threads on raids, duels, mounts and now, guesting as well, the forums aren’t being moderated hard enough. The ability to use the search function should be a prerequisite to starting any new thread in the Suggestions subforum.
14. Absolutely not. GW2 is not a pay-to-win game, nor a triple-dip one. People bought into this game because it was a one-off purchase and because there is no sub.
The last thing this game needs is another viral fad.
As far as I’m concerned, Gem Store items have no place in dailies.
