Also, anyone who uses the word “pl0x” or any other form of netspeak in their thread title has already lost the argument as far as I’m concerned. It simply suggests that the person posting is 12 years old, even if they are actually a mature adult. Stop doing that!
Interestingly, a couple of days ago someone mentioned mounts in-game on map chat (Piken Square server) and was trying to find out if there was any support for the idea. The response was largely negative. When people constantly claim they speak for most people, have they actually tried to gauge opinion from others in-game who never use these forums, or do they mean that by “most people”, they mean themselves and their handful of friends?
Absolutely not.
There are alot of players from other games playing GW2. They want mounts so bad that they all well leave the game. If there is not atleast cosmetic mounts.
So? Let them leave then! GW1 never had mounts and there’s absolutely no reason for GW2 to have them either just because other games have them as well.
Do we really need another thread on this? If the only reasons people can come up with for having mounts in this game are that “other MMOs have them” and “cuz dey luk kool!”, then ANet’s time is quite simply better spent doing something else, like fixing bugs and balancing PvP.
Besides, if mounts were to be released as a pay item in the store and enabled for PvP/W3 then the accusations of pay2win will be flying in from all over the place.
If you’re trying to use a single (first) name then you’re going to have trouble because no matter how unique you think that name is, it isn’t really that unique at all. I learned from GW1 that it was far easier to either give characters a firstname/surname or to add “of x”/“the x” to the end of that name, i.e. “Olaf The Short” or “Erin Of Shaemore”. Never had trouble naming any of my characters this way.
Yes, because you never depended on people more experienced than you when you were a noob, right? You obviously started the game last year in full level 80 exotics.
Yes because some things, are pretty obvious….it’s a fact..
No, that’s your opinion – A million miles away from a fact.
Also, at least provide a source for your copypaste:

That user comment was written in June 2012. A lot has changed since then.
(edited by uknortherner.2670)
I don’t agree with inactive deletions that’s for sure. But if a character was deleted by the user, and the name is not available (only that account can create the name again) then Guild Wars 2 needs to re-think name availability.
I’m sure I’ve read somewhere on here that deleted character names are made publicly available 24 hours after character deletion.
You call for more armour tiers, mounts, “raids” and more dungeons when most people struggle to pull together non-elitist groups for the existing dungeons.
Sounds like copycatting other MMOs to me. Mounts have no place in GW2 and gear grind would make the game a tedious chore to play because it simply allows the elitists to lock out anyone without the super-duper gear. The only reason why gear grind exists in other MMOs is to keep the user subs rolling in.
Again, no thanks.
So basically, you want GW2 to resemble other MMOs? Raids, mounts, vertical gear grind and so on. No thanks.
Also, this isn’t a subs-based game, so there is no reason to be logged in at every waking moment. Many players will be playing GW2 alongside their regular sub game and may not log in for months on end. Likewise, people who have to stop playing for a multitude of reasons (ill health, flooded out, financial reasons for not maintaining an internet subscription etc) should not be punished because somewhere out there, someone and their small circle of friends believe they are entitled to other peoples’ character names because they were late to the party.
I deserve to know if any of my party members are leeching or not.
How to we know it isn’t you elitists leeching off the skill of MF users? When I used to do dungeon runs, it was the rest of the group that was carrying the so-called elitists through, since we had to keep rezzing the useless dead weight time and time again.
Skill, not stats is what matters. You can blame your incompetence on MF or “leeching” as much as you like, but chances are, it is you that is the dead weight in the party.
I wish the autotargeting system in PvE would ignore anything that isn’t the mob that’s already attacking me, especially rabbits and mobs lurking a good 20-30 feet away behind walls and rockfaces. Targeting in general feels somewhat broken in this game.
Same goes for the target nearest enemy button. It rarely targets the thing already doing the attacking and opts for something well outside melee range.
No, “we” don’t need raids.
My thoughts is that this is a suggestions subforum and I don’t see a suggestion here.
There’s no weather patterns as such. Certain areas are permanently raining/snowing whilst other areas are cloudy/sunny. A dynamic weather system would add to the atmosphere, IMO – for instance, occasional rain in Divinity’s Reach.
Try telling those elitists that it’s all about skill when they’re bleating on about MF items.
1) Duelling is supposed to be happening at some point.
2) Absolutely no to inspections. There are enough elitists around already and the last thing this game needs is another feature to allow them to stroke their own egos whilst locking other players out of their oh-so-special groups.
All those boys controlling girl characters…in a beauty pageant….it all seems so wrong.
It’s a game, not real life.
Come to think of it, I wonder how many people still go into MMOs expecting to form a RL relationship? I see MMOs as a game and not some dating service and the gender of the people playing male or female characters in-game are an irrelevance to me.

I don’t see how poker sounds like fun in the aspect of the game. There are plenty of poker sites to play at if you want to play cards.
Maybe not poker specifically, but a game that brings a group together and gets people talking in the main cities.
as is the keg brawl.
no.
I think I meant the bar brawl.
I would like to see mini-games like poker (or a Tyrian equivalent), archery contests, fishing, etc in the main cities to give people a reason for spending time in them rather than Lion’s Arch.
There already is a shooting gallery in DR but it’s disabled at present, as is the keg brawl.
You know what we think. If you had done a search you would not have bothered starting yet another kitten thread on this tedious subject.
Reystar, your idea of “open minded” is to make GW2 a WoW-clone. You keep claiming you speak for everyone, when in fact, you speak for yourself. You certainly don’t speak for people like me.
I don’t want raids, gear grind or any of that tedious rubbish that make up 99% of other MMOs out there. I’m satisfied with what GW2 has to offer, but then, I actually did my research before putting down my £35 for this game.
You’ve said it yourself – you play WoW and you’re not bored of it yet, despite the fact that you do exactly the same grind over and over again. It seems you would be happier going back to WoW full time. What’s stopping you?
Yet, there are people on here demanding 25-man raids! I can’t even pull a five-man team together for a dungeon because of Fractals, frivolous elitism and MF snobbery.
Preview in TP has been discussed countless times already and a simple use of the search function would have told you that, including the reasons why it doesn’t exist already.
^ Indeed, especially as this thread has nothing new to add to the discussion except a paragraph in ALL CAPS that I usually skim right past.
The other thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Race-change-11/first#post1214313
So do the number of threads on this topic it seems. There’s a search feature for a reason, you know.
Learn to use the search function. This has been discussed far too many times already.
It’s interesting that Nappychappy mentions WoW. A boxed game with a $15/mo sub AND a cash shop.
If anyone forced me to link my gear for approval, I would probably tell them to go shove their head up a dolyak’s orifice. Elitism has no place in GW2. If you want me to link my gear, you’ll have to prove to ME that it is you who are not dead weight in the group!
To counter that, I reckon groups would just refuse to take people that don’t have gear inspection enabled.
Meh, there’ll be a lot of people denied a dungeon run by a handful of vocal elitists then, and people like me would be more than happy to dungeon run with the people made outcasts for blocking /inspects.
I don’t quite get where the OP believes that no levels = sandbox? A sandbox to me means deformable scenery, constructible buildings, user-made content (i.e. quests) etc. It certainly doesn’t mean no levels.
Take the levels out of this game and you still have a theme park, only one with no challenge.
If there is, I never hear it. Having said that, I find this game has a lot of sound lagging issues to begin with, so it could end up playing out with around 10-20 other sounds simultaneously (most noticeable in the main cities)
If you mean not wearing all three at once (shoe+chest+hat) then I disagree. Some people’s characters deliberately don’t wear shoes (my ele/necro doesn’t for instance) or chest armour (like a couple of people I know who play norn males), and should not be penalised for that, after all they’re already taking a stat hit anyway. A better idea would be the shard debuff you mention but only if the character is completely naked (lacking all three) as most bots tend to be after a short while anyway.
I’m bumping this thread up because it’s still something that needs to be addressed. Over the last few days when I’ve been playing, I’ve often found when reading through my chat logs that I’ve missed a few whispers from other players simply because I had no idea they had been sent. Some of these whispers were little more than guild invite spam that I couldn’t care less about, but there were others from people who had wanted assistance nearby and I was probably the only person around so in turn it probably made me look ignorant even though I had no idea I had received them.
As I rarely check the chat window unless I’m actually communicating with people, there really needs to be a sound played when these whispers are received.
They ran a parallel Wintertide event in GW1 over Christmas so it seems that the devs haven’t completely abandoned the game just yet. Sadly, there were very few people playing when I logged in at the time.
This isn’t a suggestion…
What’s really needed is dynamic weather and synchronised day/night cycles for the zones. Shaemore’s been crying out for a bit of rain since the Centaur invasion!
Why didn’t you post on this thread here instead of starting a new one?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Stop-Server-Transfers/first#post1179558
I got one of these a few days ago in a PM titled “I LOVE YOU”. I reported it and moved on.
Though it may explain why these forums have been extremely sluggish over the last few days with server timeouts and the like.
I’m a PvEer so personally, I don’t see an issue with being able to transfer between servers. I don’t do PvP or WvW and couldn’t care less what happens in those modes, so why should I be stopped from switching to other servers?
The guesting system could work but only if ANet lose the friend requirement. It’s a somewhat restrictive mechanism that would’ve stopped people like me from experimenting with RP servers. Sorry, but I came from GW1 where I could switch between server/region/channel at will.
Killstealing can’t happen in this game however, but yes it can still be annoying to be relentlessly stalked by some idiot with far too much time on their hands.
The only alternative at the moment is to switch servers as AFAIK, the friends/blocked list does not list which servers people are on.
Alternative /sit styles that would allow my down-and-out human female urchin to sit on the ground in a more appropriate manner (i.e. the male sit style), or my male norn to get in touch with his feminine side (female sit style)! Or, a sit/stance style that reflects your chosen background.
Also:
/drink – drink with a beer mug, /drink2 – drink from a wine glass for those with a more refined taste.
/eat – eating animation with random food.
/scratchhead – for when pondering isn’t enough! Also, /facepalm
/juggle – no point in wanting to join a circus if you can’t manage the basics!
Wow – I wasn’t even aware that getting drunk actually affected the ability to dodge properly!
/wanders off to the bar.
Ahem, yes I would like to see intoxication mean a little more than a filter effect on-screen. For instance, if your character is walking, they could struggle to walk a straight line and even occasionally stumble into objects, or if they’re running, they could lose their balance and fall down, face first.
Why are you afraid of people seeing you online? Lawl.
What an utterly useless response.
There are many reasons why some people will choose to go invisible now and again – perhaps they want to go off exploring on their own, or try out a new alt? Invisible should mean exactly that – being completely off the radar from your “followers”.
Not to mention that some of these volunteer player mods might ban or infract any posts here on the suggestions forum that do not fall in line with their own personal view on how the game should evolve. For instance, pro-mounts mods deleting any posts against the idea of mounts (and vice versa) and so forth. I’ve seen this happen on once-popular The Sims forums where paysite owners and paysite sympathisers banned anti-paysite members for posting an opinion.
Who would end up moderating these volunteer moderators?
(edited by uknortherner.2670)
Also, it’s funny seeing all of the people cry that they don’t want mounts…. use a waypoint if you want. Run if you want. Stop trying to hijack a good idea for a game company just because you are a crybaby.
Or, alternatively, stop trying to force your minority view on the majority of players. It was made clear from the start that there would be no mounts. Now stop being a crybaby because you could not be bothered to do any research before purchasing the game.
How can you say you have the statistics to say the idea of mounts comes from a “minority” of people?
I didn’t say anything about having statistics. I can however use the Search function – a concept completely alien to the pro-mount crowd, and the number of overwhelmingly negative posts about mounts outnumber pro-mount posts. It’s precisely this reason why a small number of people keep starting new threads each day with the same tired arguments in favour of mounts, i.e. “cuz they luk kool” and “cuz otha MMOs hav em”, whilst deliberately ignoring the reasons against such a feature (world design, game lore, etc).
(edited by uknortherner.2670)
Oh, look it’s another mounts thread. Because we haven’t had a thousand of these already, so we clearly needed one more.
