Yesterday me and the rest of the commanders that were are Tequatl agreed to try to go around the bug and it eventually worked. Trick is to get the whole zerg to spot DPSing on time no matter how hard this is.
However, this is a sloppy workaround and I still believe that a fix should be worked on.
On the other hand, ANet employees, I myself work for a big IT company and I know how long it could take to locate even the smallest problem sometimes; I’m fine with that, investigate, reproduce and work on a fix for as long as you want, we would just be happy to know that you’re aware of the issue and you’re looking into it.
Cheers!
Wow! I was thinking that something on my side is broken and I was too shy to bring it up on the forums. I’m also hearing that very very loud noise every now and then, it is as someone said like a pan hitting the floor. I was wondering if it’s my TeamSpeak or some other software, phew!
Hi ANet team, players,
I saw that there’s a thread about the bug with the laser (haven’t paid attention so I won’t comment on this), but I’m surprised there’s not thread about Tequatl becoming invisible after the defense phase.
Basically, what happens is this:
- Defense phase kicks in after his hp reaches 75%;
- People successfully defend the batteries and laser and move back to double damage spot;
- You pick your reason for the bug:
# Some say it is caused by excessive damage dealt to Tequatl;
# Or maybe just a wrong behaviour by the code; - When it’s time for Teq to come back to “life” and everyone to go to their positions, we instead get the animation where he takes off again while in fact, he, as an object, he is still on the same place (also shown there on the mini map)
- Bone walls are spawned randomly afterwards, the usual rotation is DPS -> Destroy bone wall -> back to DPSing invisible Tequatl;
- Defense phase kicks in again, upon successful defending the laser, Tequatl lands?! again and you just DPS him to death.
Bonus chest rewards usually get bugged too and you only get two chests as a reward.
My complaint here, and probably the complaint of many players who do Tequatl on daily basis just for the challenge, is not about the bug with the rewards that occurs, but with the fact that simply stacking under his head and bashing him to death takes away the fun of actually participating in the kill process of one of the hardest champions in-game. Not to mention that many of the achievements required for the “The Sunbringer” title are also nearly impossible to get facing the current problem.
I would be grateful if we get a response from the ANet team if they’re aware of this issue.
Thanks in advance!
Aurora/Winter
ohaider,
It’s your friendly dungeon newbie here
May I ask why almost every stranger dislikes Ascalon fractal? The highest difficulty I’ve did it was 19 and I find it super easy to deal with – I can pretty much run into the groups of Ascalonians and just facetank them.
… also it offers a great chance to sing “Warm kitty, soft kitty” throughout the whole fractal to my guildies on TeamSpeak. c:
I really hope that we don’t get to a point where you’d beat me with a whip, Lady Lilith.
Okay, thank you!
Daw, my ele is still too low level so that I can equip the skin I have in mind for her. Would there be another contest soon, master Lilith?
Hi Maxi and Mother,
Thank you both for your feedback on the build
; Maxi, do I necessarily have to go 30 in fire? I somehow really, really like the 20 points in Arcana. I will check your suggestion once I hit 80 and decide on which one to go with.
Mother, I agree with Maxi on the Air traits; AFAIK and as far as I tried it out, 1 in air attunement is a great auto-attack DPS skill. As for the Shard of Ice, I thought of grabbing Soothing Wave/Vital Striking, but I have the feeling that both won’t be really useful – first has CD of 10 seconds while the latter would be difficult to maintain for me as I’m playing with very low FPS and most of the time I miss my dodges.
Also, do you think it’d be viable to put 3 runes of the warrior/wurm for some extra survivability? I have the feeling that the current hp is just way too low for such a squishy character.
Thanks again, guys!
Hi guys,
I’ve decided that I wanted to re-roll a dagger/focus ele and I’ve spent some time playing around with the calculator. I’m very very newbish to the ele class and probably the build that I’m about to link below is beyond amusing for most of you, but I hope that you’d lend a helping hand with an opinion on what could be changed improved.
What I’m looking for is something as a hybrid between outgoing damage and boonhappy ele. I checked Zelyhn’s guide quite a few time, huge kudos to that, it helped me understand plenty of things but my build is a bit different than the one suggested by him.
Here’s what I managed to come up with: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQJAodnMISLDW4A+MAfEIwBwI9DG9BEHBCAdwiXhlAA-TxRBwAUOBAX3fooyvbqVsTVFU6BA8AAAA-e
I usually run dungeons and fractals with guildies so I’m not looking for maximizing my damage output rather, as I already said, I’d like to be able to dish out decent damage while granting my party as much boons as possible; looking for that fine line between both.
A few of the things on which I’m not certain of:
Utility skills:
Armor of Earth: The only reason I put it on the bar is because of the stability. I usually prefer to have the passive crit signet but I figured it’s not that much of a difference and sometimes stability is much more important than a few percentages more in critical strikes;
Traits:
Air, Bolt to the Heart: Not sure if I should swap this one of Zephyr’s Boon. As I said, I’m looking for more boons, while I have the feeling that Bolt to the Heart’s effect would be mostly notable on champs;
Water – Not sure if I should keep any points here at all; I’m in doubt if I should maximize my Arcana trait and get Evasive Arcana instead. What do you think?
I went for a combo of Knights and Berserkers gear, I play on an old rig and dodging is not always as easy as it seems so some bonus survivability is always welcome.
Thank you all in advance for taking your time to look into this!
Kite, can you sign me up for the class of Aetherblade 101 in case you get a dungeon mentor? I’m also willing to learn how to go through it.
Did Arah pt3 for the first time yesterday. It was all fun and games until that Crusher showed me the true meaning of “Hammer time!” :c
I’m a guard; Tried using both scepter and staff and it didn’t work. Melee is absolutely out of the question, it’s a suicide. Tried like 50 times already and eventually just ragequit.
Could anyone please share any tips on how to survive all the Liadri’s NPC that insta-kill you during the second phase of the fight? I have absolutely no troubles throughout the first phase, but the second one is proving very difficult as not only we have to escape the shadow circles, but also run from the bombs AND damage Liadri.
Uhm, hai? :o Is there cake?
Why, people, why?
Guys, lets be honest on this one:
Fact: I did farm the Queensdale train even before the spider was nerfed to an elite;
Fact: I got my level 80 exotic gear when I was like level 22 due to the train;
Fact: It was indeed a fun activity and at times a nice way to socialize with people;
Fact: By hitting level 60 I had some pieces of my cultural tier 3 armour aka insane farm.
Now, lets look at it from the other side:
The train is probably the dumbest way of leveling and farming in the game:
- Everything you do is press 1;
- Due to that reason by level 80 you still have no idea how your hero works exactly;
- If someone messes up with the train order, everyone goes into insulting spree (I’ve did it and I’ve seen people doing it);
- It is in a starting area so many new players prefer to just join the train and two weeks later, they still have no idea how to get to Kessex Hills.
So .. yea. Move on just like I did after my first char hit 80. I started doing dungeons and this was when I realized how useless I am because, happily, in dungeons, you’re 5, not 50.
I see, thank you everyone. I guess I should go back to farming other weapons and armour until a new skin is released. Cheers!
For me – it averages about 2 full tickets (converted from scraps) per 25 chests opened. This isn’t a lot, but also remember that you should be buying the skins you like when they are introduced for 1 ticket each.
I estimate that in order to recoup your cost to obtain the tickets, via back conversion through gems, you’d need to sell skins for at least 50 gold per ticket cost.
Hmm, the ones I like currently cost 5 tickets – is there some kind of a rotation with every weapon so that they all go down to 1 ticket?
I don’t know, mate, I like the way collision is at the moment. WvW and world boss zergs definitely don’t need collision while it might be considered for dungeons but I still believe it’d be frustrating rather than fun.
Imagine at the zerg at Teq with collision turn on.
Random guy: stack on commander please!
everyone comes as close to commander as possible
Commander: wave dodge
Everyone: OMFG MOVE PEOPLE MOVE
Everyone else: OOMG SOMEONE MOVE I CAN’T MOVE
everyone dies….Epic-ness!
I came here for this.
Yea, I myself prefer to farm the keys instead of buying them. ~15 gold is a bit of an overkill for me, not to mention the Dreamthistle skin on TP which costed nearly 250 gold last time I checked it.
Anyway, thanks everyone, I guess I can just keep farming them up and hope for the best.
Cheers
I have my glow boosted up to the top, I think, but my eyes still glow at night, it’s super pretty indeed. I will try to get you a screen shot when I get home
I completely agree with Melanie’s post. I usually do runs with guildies in AC p1/p3, TA up and forward and CoF pt1. Nothing complicated, easy and quick way to get some gold.
Hi guys,
Could anyone on here share from personal experience how much time did it take you to collect 5 Black Lion Claim Tickets in order to get one of the weapon skins? I really like the Dreamthistle ones but I have the feeling that it’d take me years to even get 2 or 3 of the tickets. I’ve opened quite a bit of chests since I joined the game but so far I’ve only got like 6 ticket scraps.
I know this really could vary with every player, but probably an average number of opened chests could give me an idea on how much time I’d need.
Thanks!
Hi,
Still a newbie to GW2 but I’d also say that probably AC story and TA up is a good place to start. Let us know how it goes, I’m interested in soloing myself after some time
Good luck!
Hi Chug,
I think we might have something similar to offer, you can check out our recruitment thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/Cloud-of-Sparrows-Seafarer-s-Rest/first
Cheers
This is very impressive! Hope I will be able to solo a veteran one day QQ
And why is this topic not on their forums? :o
Holy crap, I didn’t even notice lmao.
I’m doing TA with guildies every day. I can’t promise a free spot at the moment, but I can invite you to our party in case we have such if you’d like.
Edit: TA only level 55 that is – still need to practice for the Aetherblade path.
No. Charrs are cuddly and fluffy kittehs.
I don’t see how one or two new/low level players could slow down the party.
Yes, it is slower
?
Sorry, meant to say that I don’t see how one or two low level players could be much of a weight to the party. Still on my first coffee cough
Kudos, Digital!
Honestly, I don’t see how one or two new/low level players could be much of a weight to the party as in DPS and survivability. Yes, it is slower, but in fact, I’d pick a friendly, new to the dungeon player over an experienced guy who just rushes forward and abandons the party at the first wipe, any day.
A few days ago we ran pt1 in AC with a guildie for 3 guys who were under level 50; Yes, it took us over 1 hour but the challenge was worth it at the end and the guys were super nice so I don’t regret it at all. I don’t care about your gear and build as long as you listen if you’re new or you follow the party if you’ve been in the dungeon before.

Good morning, dungeon masters!
Lately me and my guild have been running nearly all paths in AC, Caudecus, TA and CoF on daily basis but these tend to get a bit boring after a few days. We still haven’t really done any of the other dungeons, is there a thread where I can read more about HotW, CoE, Arah etc.? (:
Thanks!
I currently use a mix of knights and soldiers gear as I only joined GW2 one month ago and my guard is the first character that I got to 80, therefore I thought it’d be good to actually get plenty of survivability rather than damage and low tankiness.
You’re right about reviving the rest of the party and you put up a good point that I’m maybe being more of a weight rather than a helpful hand. May I ask what the average DPS that you get with your Zerker gear? I’ve decided to go for celestial accessory and rings but I think that swapping some of my soldiers gear for zerker could work if the damage increase is something that I could actually notice.
I currently hit for 1/2k up to 5k crits with around 5 might stacks but at the same time I have absolutely no troubles tanking pretty much every boss in let’s say fractals for example while granting some boons to party members or reviving the fallen.
Edit: Oh, missed all those posts while I was writing this one. Okay, let’s see:
Lilith, I haven’t tried sword and focus but I was thinking about scepter and focus. I will give them both a go, thank you!
Maha, I don’t have a warrior – I don’t like the idea of having multiple characters that use nearly the same mechanics/armour etc. It just feels as if I’m playing my guard but with different skills. I have my thief to make up for that though.
(edited by winterchillz.2564)
Hello, Lilith! Thanks for the kind reply, I was, in fact, expecting to be bashed. Indeed, you’re right but I still won’t underestimate it considering the fact that I rarely see any other might stacks except for my own staff, virtue of justice and crit hits.
Oh whoa! Look at that title!
Well now, this is getting a bit scary for me – I main an AH (inb4youareuseless) hammer & staff/greatsword guardian and honestly this thread is frightening. Just to clarify – I don’t join any zerkers/speed parties when doing dungeons on my guard, so let’s see if I’m doing this right:
I prefer staff over greatsword nowadays, in fact I’m not sure when was the last time I used greatsword in general. Why? In dungeons for the movement speed stacking, short but useful might stacks and my 5th spell that blocks creeps when we’re skipping parts of the dungeon.
This is when my hammer comes out → I stack might with staff and then I switch to hammer and just bash down the champ until my staff’s 4th is off CD, then I repeat the process.
Can I get a place in a party or should I hop on my “meta” thief?
My thief that I made after the feature patch just hit 80 yesterday. At level ~75 I had only 3-4 traits unlocked… Note that 1 or 2 of them were unlocked in WvW. Seeing the requirement to get a trait seems as if ArenaNet tells me how I should play: go to this territory, find this, complete this map, finish that dungeon…
I really, really dislike the new system; it doesn’t give us any flexibility as in trying out new builds or even trying out the build you want unless you complete half the world map and half the dungeons. So now, instead of being able to actually experiment with my thief build, I had to pick one from the internet and just go and mindlessly grind the traits.
Please reconsider the new system, it does more damage rather than helping out.
9.5/10! She looks adorable.
My guardian Aurora Nightblossom; Sorry for the bad quality of the screens >.>"
Anything is easy if all the players know what to do. The knowing part is the factor you can’t control when dealing with 150 players on a map.
That’s why there should be people who would explain the strategy to the rest and try to organize it for the rest. Just throw in some useful advice and hope for the best.
I’ve never did Wurm, but please don’t touch Teq! He needs no “fixing”, he’s just fine! I did him 4 times so far, 3 out of 4 successful and I already have my title. In fact, now that I know a bit about what’s the strategy for it, I’d even say that he’s not even remotely as hard as people describe him to be.
The one fight that we lost against him was probably the biggest fail in Teq attempts – at the end of the 25% defense phase, people begun heading back to the landing site at the 20ish second as usual; problem was that no one noticed how quickly the East battery was dropping therefore exactly 1-2 seconds before the laser was charged, we lost it. We only had 2 minutes to kill him and 1 minute of them was lost in trying to run all the way back to him since we got wiped.
So yea, Teq is quite easy actually. I find Jormag to be far more difficult.
Day number 2 on Tequatl – success yet again. I hope that on the third run I will be able to get the title, only 2 achievements left.
I’m sorry OP, but I will have to disagree with you. In fact, I am happy that there’s a boss that actually requires some kind of team work and cooperation to be taken down. Feels much better than the mindless DPS-everything-down.
Well, just did my first Teq today and I must say that it wasn’t as hard as I expected it while reading this thread. I even managed to get 7 out of 10 of the achievements!
Hm, all these posts actually pump me up to learn how Teq works exactly and start practicing it with my guild. In addition to that I absolutely want the “The Sunbringer” title
Meet Aurora Nightblossom from the Seafarer’s Rest server. Recently hit 80, on the photo – pieces of cultural tier 3 and dire draconic armour.

Cloud of Sparrows [CoS] is a small, friendly guild based on the Seafarer’s Rest server. Our mission as members of Cloud of Sparrows is to help the new and veteran players to Guild Wars 2 and share the adventure of going through the story of the game and find a small friendly place they can call home.
We like the comfort of having the friendly environment, therefore we have a membership cap of 50 members split in two types: 45 official members and 5 guests. At the moment, we have open spots for new members so here I am spamming GW2’s forums. :P
Cloud of Sparrows is a guild that values its members and aims to create the environment that many of us would like to call “home”. Our goal is to have a friendly place where you can relax and have a good chat with friends after a long day at work or school. We do dungeons, including fractals, map exploration, group leveling and some PvP and WvW, though the general base of our members is focused on PvE.
In Cloud of Sparrows, we are keen on the idea of pure democracy – every member in the guild has the right to vote on changes, suggestions and feedback by the rest of the members. Every member has the absolute right and is encouraged to state personal views on different guild matters.
Last, but not least, I’d like to point out that constant representation, unless spoken to me or an officer otherwise, would be greatly appreciated. We also won’t be used as a looking for group guild and this is strongly discouraged. We don’t want to force anyone to represent, neither are we looking for conflicts, it’s your own decision at the end of the day, but you representing the guild and spreading the word around for us is what will help us grow together.
What we have to offer:
- Small but very friendly, family-like environment where you can almost always (not in 5AM for sure) find people who are willing to help you with whatever you need;
- Very high knowledge in dungeons and fractals;
- Willingness to teach new players the given profession builds, dungeons and fractals;
- Guild runs in dungeons, whether story or explorable mode, high-level fractals, boss hunts, map completion, story quests;
- Website and private TeamSpeak server for constant communication with guild mates;
- Guild missions & events;
- Daily dungeons and fractals groups;
- Guild Hall, in the face of Lost Precipice, & Guild Scribe
What we’re looking for:
- Friendly, open minded, outgoing and mature people who are ready to work towards and dedicate their time to helping other players and building the guild;
Our short list of requirements:
- Our very general requirement is that you will be nice towards the rest of the members. Drama in our guild is not tolerated and is to be dealt with immediately.
- Be familiar and agreed to keep within the boundaries of our Code of Conduct (link to it posted below).
- Activity and representation – we don’t mind how much time you spend online, it’s your time and real life is always far more important than a video game.
- However we’d be happy if you keep your representation at all times – your representation will spread the word about your guild and contribute towards it. Exceptions are always made if raised as a point during the joining process.
- If the membership cap is reached and we have suitable applicants, we will be forced to remove any players that haven’t been representing or have been inactive in the last few weeks. No hard feelings will be held and you’ll be always more than welcome to come back.
Please feel free to contact me in-game, usually after 4 PM GMT, or ask your question below, I’d be happy to answer as soon as I get on.
Or you can contact our officers:

Read our Code of Conduct at: http://cloudofsparrows.shivtr.com/pages/coc
Note: Please, instead of applying on our guild website, try to reach us in-game for a chat and guild invite. The website application is nothing else but a simple registration. Thanks
For further information and/or guild invite you can whisper me in game.
Thank you for your time, sir/madame!

Or does everyone who I asked on /map chat quite a few times is?
As I’m coming from another MMORPG, I’m used to the holy trinity system that’s out there. Pretty early in the game I decided that I’d want to roll an elem, not only because it’s super fun to play but also because it provides amazing party support.
A few times I asked what it’d be a good build for a support elem and 95% of the answers that I got were stating that support elem “sucks”. Okay then, since this is a game and we all chose how to play, I’m not bound to be following the obviously popular dagger/dagger build so instead I went with the standard for mages staff. Before the patch I went on and checked my traits and skills and I eventually figured out that the water and arcana combo would work great due to the larger AoE and superb healing. Now, after the patch it seems that this is even improved.
As I couldn’t know for sure if support would work, I went on and joined the train and a dungeon run. During the first few train runs I had fire att on with the only idea to deal damage. Once we reached Troll in Queensdale, half the train got destroyed by his nukes and conditions. I changed to water and although the 3 and 5 skills (sorry, I’m not good at remembering names) have relatively long cooldown, I was still able to deliver a nice amount of healing.
So my question is – after the latest patch, should I still focus on the celestial gear or I should go for something different?
Thanks!
Well, goodbye to all the strangers which I met during leveling in Queensdale and Kessex Hills, probably I should have added you all to friends; welcome to everyone with whom I can’t exchange a word because of the language barrier.
Same happened on Seafarer’s Rest today as well.
