I wanted to come on and say that it’s the 1st of December and not the 1st of April when I saw the title.

I kind of like the changes so far. Steal never goes on a 5 second cool down anymore when you use it while out of range or when there’s no line of sight. Also, it no longer goes on a full cool down if you use it right when an opponent stealths because you are required to have a target to use it. Some of those scenarios happen more often than you might think, and you don’t have control over when they happen usually either. As someone suggested earlier, maybe there could be an option you can toggle on or off for if you want to require a target to be able to use these types of skills. Regardless of whether the target requirement gets reverted or not, the part with steal not going on a 5 second cool down when you use it from out of range or with no line of sight needs to stay.

They really should have just put a checker on the skill. Do you have the traits that give stealth or any kind of buff on steal? If yes, then it will go on full cooldown while giving you the buffs. If not, then it gets the 5 sec cooldown. I mean seriously, as an amateur programmer I can tell you that this is a simple true/false flag check, it shouldn’t take that much time to set up.

But that’s too much work and ANet are busy with #esports.

The most ridiculous fact about this “noise” reduction is that when I first saw the new Ele fireballs I thought my game is bugged.

So yea, I think that speaks for how much I needed reduction of the visual noise.

Absolute +1. ArenaNet are not realizing that they are killing not just the main thief skill itself but also some of the traits that are related to it and that they worked so hard on. GG, ANet, disregarding your own hard work.

I’m a hardcore PvE player and I can tell you that I’ve been constantly using Steal OOC for the buffs. I was shocked today when I realized I can’t use it anymore and at first I even thought it’s a bug with Shortbow so I swapped over to D/D and S/P but when it didn’t work even there I finally realized what happened.

Now we have a skill that not only is nerfed to the ground but also makes a couple of traits completely useless too.

Well, as a PvE player, I see it as a complete nerf to be honest.

I just realized that actually I have an impressive amount of boxes now. Getting keys for them would be way too expensive, probably would be a good idea to start off with just 10 or something and see how improved the rewards are.

Well, I can always bring my charr ranger to match his charr warrior/guardian. On the other hand, my asura like big Charr … it’s so easy to snuggle into their furry back and let them carry you around instead having to walk by yourself.

Now, this is the correct mentality every player should have towards Charrs, yes.

Don’t mistake elitism for pure jerks, please. People who have been running fractals, especially in high skill groups/guilds, since the dawn of time couldn’t care less what gear you wear and how well you know a given fractal as long as you don’t kitten up real badly. In fact, very big portion of those people would either give you tips on what to do or just carry you through without saying a word.

The people you describe sound like the people that were taking 3 hours to complete a level 50 fractal pre-expansion. Now, with the absolutely nerfed fractals level where a level 21 is in fact … level 3?, those people feel like absolute gods of FoTM. kitten ’em, if you come across such group just leave it and look for another one or start one yourself.

Also, if you’re in Europe, drop me a message if you can’t find anyone to run fractals with, I’d say I have a pretty decent idea of how fractals work and I enjoy passing on knowledge to other people. <- This offer goes out to everyone reading this topic who might be shying away from fractals because of a handful of LFG jerks.

And the vanilla 1-50 is still available to you. You want up to 100 (expansion benefit), then you have to buy the expac. You’re viewing fractals and everything associated with fractals as one entity. It’s called an expansion, it expands content. For you to expand your current vanilla experience, you must purchase the expansion. Otherwise, feel free to do things as you’ve always done.

Make sure you have a bit of time left on the timer when you do it. Me and a couple of guildies were doing for teh lulz, he started his last animation at like 5-6 seconds left on the timer and it didn’t count.

Again, in what way? They even made lower level ones easier, theoretically you could go all the way to 59 with your 70AR, without needing the expac at all. What exactly is gated that was available to you pre-expac?

Yea, you’ve got a legit complaint about elite spec in PvP/WvW; I’ll give you that one. The rest just sound like bitter because you’re not getting the same rewards you used to, which is just.. Meh, tough; expac isn’t what changed that, it’s something that’s needed to happen for a long time.

Exactly my point. I did level 50 fractal as 3man without even having the Agony resistance for it. I’m not the kind of player that took hours to complete a 50 fractal pre-patch, I don’t want easier content, which is the case of Fractals right now. Fractals, as an instance, originated in the vanilla game so if they change something to it, I believe all the changes should be accessible to vanilla players too.

As for whether or not I’m bitter about rewards – I couldn’t care less, I’m just supporting what seemed to be an expectation of most people, or at least people who were generally doing Fractals – once dungeons are nerfed, rewards in Fractals will be increased and that’s not the case.

This was coming for awhile, expac just seemed like the right time to do it.

And supposedly the rewards should have been moved to Fractals & Raids. Fractals is obviously not the case and if they do add it to Raids, why HoT players would be able to do gold and anyone who doesn’t have HoT has to remain with a finger in one’s mouth?

See above. This is a drastic change that anet is doing specifically to get gold out of the economy.

See above, Fractals rewards were supposed to be buffed and they’re even worse than they used to be. A key to unlock one of the boxes costs 1g and most of the time you get a 10s junk item out of it. Where’s the reward buff we’re talking about?

Mastery in PvP? Of what do you speak? Are you talking about the couple of champions that are expac only? Do gliders and mushroom jumping even work in PvP? Res speed mod doesn’t, speed boosts don’t either, legendary crafting I doubt makes a single bit of difference… Please do elaborate.

What Masteries influence the outcome of a pvp match?

I meant the Elite specilizations. Today I got insta-finished by a warrior, no casting of the finisher, nothing. When I asked what was it he said it’s the new elite spec. So he can use his Elite spec in PvP while I cannot just because I don’t have HoT? How is this fair?

I want to state my disappointment with the current turn of tides, as it is in my eyes, with the Guild Wars 2 development. I’ve been playing for a bit over an year now and before anyone bash me, you should know I got a little bit over 2000 hours online in less than 6 months, so yes, I did dedicate a lot of my time to this game.

In my opinion, this pretty good game went from ‘Buy to Play’ to ‘Pay to Win’, which is utter kitten. Why? Let’s look at what the pre and post expansion release brought us.

As of the vanilla game, every player had the full opportunity to participate in all of the concent on equal ground as everyone else. True, some content like high level fractals required a bit of grinding in order to acquire the needed gear, but at the end of the day it was still easily achievable without much trouble.

Pre-release of the expansion the game went Free to Play. Nothing bad with that, right, population grows, more people to do the content with. I didn’t mind it as a player who bought the game, I really didn’t, it’s nice to increase the player base number.

Post-release of the expansion, okay, new content was added, that’s true, no denial, but what else anyone who still haven’t purchased the expansion got:

- Dungeon rewards nerfed to the ground;
– Fractal rewards nerfed to the ground and require you to waste gold on keys if you want to have a chance to get reward in first place;
– Fractal levels locked behind Masteries unless you have a couple hundred gold to waste on agony infusions;
– PvP? Yea, well, you should know Masteries apply in there too, so have fun being underpowered as opposed to a HoT player;
– WvW, I don’t know yet, simply because I haven’t gone in there but I’m even scared to at this point.

I’m not bashing everyone who bought HoT, don’t get me wrong. I just feel disappointed that suddenly I find myself being locked out of content and underpowered in content that I’ve done just fine before the expansion although I have paid to play this game.

So, what do I and other players who don’t have the expansion, have as an option? Quit, stay and play whatever content we still have or being forced to buy the expansion?

Idk, I’m really torn right now.
Some of the changes I like a lot, but at the same time there’s things that just… just no.
Rewards are pathetic but we’re used to that, not like ANet ever got difficulty/time spent/reward given down or got even close to that. Not that I like it but yeah.

Also in case anyone didn’t see it on leddit, 150AR for scale 100, but you can unlock additional agony slots on rings and get +7 infusions from masteries (Basically you can make it to about 70-80 without HoT, after that you’re done)

I’d say that it’s kind of unfair for people who bought the vanilla game but then I’d get all the kittens telling me I’m cheap and I should buy the expansion, kek.
