So when we run into Anet people in game you don’t want to talk to us?
But I want to give you hugs and cake? Do you not want cake? Though come to think of it, I’ve never seen Anet people on JQ. I’ve seen you guys on other servers (even as enemies in WvW). Seen you while guesting on Tarnished Coast. But no JQ….
Ah, but don’t worry I don’t actually want to harass you guys in-game. I figure you are running around playing.
Doesn’t change anything. It’s still easy as hell to kill on my server. And we still use the embers. We just split who does it at each burn phase. We never come close to running out of time.
It’s a fantasy MMO, not reflective of real life.

Great. So everyone loses embers and ogre pets because of Tequatl and a couple new open world bosses. But not only that. These bosses will stand alone, by themselves, with practically no one even attempting to kill them within 2 weeks.
So basically the 30 minute nerf was just so that a few members of TTS can do a few bosses a few times a day.
The amount of people that do teq is hardly just a “few.” The high pop servers all do teq and many of the overflows (even ones without TTS) also do teq.
If you want to complain that it takes too many people to kill, that’s a legit complaint. They probably should work on that. But seriously, we don’t need more “help” from Anet in game for this.
Maybe the cooldown should only go into effect if the pet is used in combat? Not sure how to fix the situation if it is really causing issues at big events like teq. The teq I did yesterday, however, went over just fine even with this cd implemented.
Heh feel like I’m watching a bunch of lawyers covering for a client. =D
Client: “I never met that woman”
Third party: “But she’s your mother… whom you lived with for years. How could you not have met her?”
Lawyer: “Obviously what my client meant to say was that they met, knew each other, but he just did not see her the night in question. Yes, what he said is confusing, but the inference is quite obvious if you just listen to his words!”>_>
I am an attorney, so this post actually amuses me quite a bit. Haha…
That’s nice. I’ve reported this thread to Anet. Hopefully they will shut this thread down.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
The first line of your post is where you set the tone for the reader. The first line of Bill’s post was extremely condescending and unprofessional, making the rest of his post seem condescending and unprofessional.
I’m sorry but, no no it wasn’t.
I do think he misspoke and meant something more like “The spamming of these items wasn’t intended by the dev team.” Confusing, yes. Condescending, no. Stop reading insults where there are none.
OMG, the post was not rude. What is up with the overly sensitive people on here. o_O At this point the mods should just trash this thread. It’s pretty useless atm.
I hope he does not get “actioned” for what he said as there was nothing wrong with it (other than misspeaking about a bug, but that’s not rude just confusing). The amount of “outrage” by some people is way, way overboard.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
Some of you fail to even read what I wrote, or maybe you just cannot comprehend English.
I am not asking for, nor expecting, instant success.
I am not saying it should be easy.
I am not saying I want to stand around and spam 1 (in fact I do like a good challenge).
I am saying THERE IS NO HELP IN GAME ON WHAT TO DO.
I am saying THERE IS TONS OF LAG DUE TO REQUIREMENT ON HAVING 100 PEOPLE PLUS 100 CONSTANTLY SPAWNING MOBS.
I am saying IT WAS IRRITATING INSTEAD OF FUN.Do you get it yet? Or is it just beyond you?
And we’re saying you don’t need help. Figure it out. That’s what people did when Teq came out. It’s not that hard. It will just take some time to get a bit coordinated. Have a bit of kitten patience.
The lag is something you’re going to have to deal with. It’s a new event and there will even more people around than usual.
The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug. The decision to throw cooldowns on them were for server performance/stability as the patch notes said, not for balance. Period. This was something that was long overdue.
Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.
As for the Charrzooka, I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that change was. That wasn’t part of the change to summons, or at least that I’m aware of.

I’m sorry but NOTHING he said was disrespectful or rude. Nothing. I think he misspoke and has caused some confusion as to his meaning, but he didn’t say anything violating forum rules. Not unless you are so overly sensitive that anything you disagree with automatically counts as “disrespectful.” Sorry, but I highly doubt that’s the kind of thing the mods are after.
Open world bosses with raid boss quality that actually require an insane raidsize and coordination in a non-endgame zone with limited player spots in the zone itself or you go into an overflow and is totally not appropriate for the level players have when they quest in the area?
I said it when Tequatl was redone, I say it again, this is bad game design. It is the worst open world game design I have seen in 15 years of MMO gaming.
I very much disagree. I actually like teq. And it isn’t a hard fight. It only requires a bit of coordination. The game needs MORE of that, not less. The only thing they might want to tweak is that they should make it scale a bit better so that you don’t need a huge, huge group to complete the event. That might make it easier for smaller servers at least. Keep the current difficulty with massive amounts of players though.
I love the world bosses and definitely want to see more from Anet. That said I have nothing against them adding more content like Liadri.
So you want them to hold your hands? You are meant to figure out the correct strategy. With time people will start to realize this isn’t your typical zerg stand still and press #1 boss like shatterer and is more like Teq where you actually need to coordinate. Once people figure that out and figure out a strat things will go more smoothly. From what I’ve heard it’s not a hard boss. It just will take some practice.
Very unlikely. Due to their stance on expansions. Don’t even expect this years down the road maybe after GW2 10th anniversary.
That’s actually not true. In a recent interview they specifically said they were going to add new zones, races, etc….everything you’d expect from an expansion. They just didn’t say how they planned on releasing it….through an expansion, through the LS, through the gem store (bleh, I really hope not that choice).
edit for quotes from interview:
“The thing that we haven’t decided yet,” he went on, "is what form that type of content will take. Is it right for Guild Wars 2 for that kind of boxed expansion? Is it right for that to be something we add, live, through storylines in the game? Is that something we want to sell through our in-game store? There are a lot of different options available to us.
“… but we absolutely are going to do sweeping new features that you would traditionally only get in expansions – large regions, content and progression additions to your characters in the form of growth and professions and races. Those are all things that you will see in the lifespan of Guild Wars 2.”
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-14-you-thought-that-was-it-for-guild-wars-2
Largos please. They are awesome. Tengu is the most likely to appear though.
So… since theres no rune set that focus boon duration only i guess i wont be able to use 75%( 30% traits 45% runes ) anymore unless they create or modify a rune set for it.
Yeah this is a huge concern for me. I can only hope one of the sets being redone has a focus on boon duration.
Yeah, it really is. I honestly do not see how nerfing zerker is going to help support builds out.
Having skins in the gem store is fine. But they really do need to offer more in-game skins. I do NOT like the RNG lotto skins. They need to do away with that.
You should go ahead and listen to the broadcast:
http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/496005243They are changing runes so a single set has more of a purpose. Take their example with Rune of Strength, now imagine how they can apply that to boon duration. Sounds like a rather interesting change to me.
Idk, I’m pretty skeptical. I use a mix match set for boon duration and if I lose out on my boon duration because of this I will be pretty annoyed. If they manage to do it in a way so that a full set gives me the same amount of boon duration then maybe I will be ok with it (though I’ll still be slightly annoyed because now I’ll have to buy more runes and I bet prices will be going up).
On a different note, the changes to nerf zerker don’t make any sense to me. I don’t see how this is going to make support specs more valuable at all. People are still going to go zerker and all this does is make things like celestial more useless. They need to buff support specs.
Another example: (quote from dulfy) “We moved stat weights to later bonuses (i.e. 4, 5, 6) so people don’t use mix-match rune bonuses.”
Why? Let people be creative and mix and match. Why the hell would you do this?
You might as well not let us mix and match armor skins.
While you’re at it, only 1 dye color per armor set.
Wait what? On top of the silly nerf to celestial (which did not need a nerf at all) they are screwing with runes? Well, that’s just great. /sarcasm
I don’t see why they want to take away our choices. It’s a terrible move on their part.
How? Lol. Never winter store has MUCH more pay to win than gw2. I purchased a $40 mount on never winter so I could keep up in PvP. Need that 150% speed bonus
Yeah, I honestly don’t know what that person is smoking. NWN’s cash shop is far worse. I do think Anet has been very in your face with the cash shop. And I do wish they’d back off a bit. That much is true. There is constantly this or that new item being introduced. But none of it feels necessary. NWN on the other hand you feel pressure (like the mount issue you mentioned) because there are things that actually deeply affect you in that cash shop.
MM necros are viable now? I’ve been slowly leveling my necro as an MM. I assumed that once I hit 80 I’d have to change specs due to MM not being viable. So I guess that means I don’t necessarily have to give it up. Just need to find a good build at 80….
Yeah, it sounds a bit unfriendly over on JQ.
Not true at all. I’m on JQ and am in Queensdale a lot. If you ask in map chat where the train is 99.9% of the time people will definitely answer. Maybe that poster was simply unlucky that day and caught a rather quiet group (which is unusual because people are always calling out where the train is).
And people talk all sorts of nonsense in LA all the time. They are probably too chatty. Honestly, I wonder whether he isn’t on at odd hours or something. The server is lively.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
The LS update vs. Expansion is actually a great example of some Human psychology.
People rather get a expansion ( A big amount of content at one time (and get one every year))
than
Get the LS (A bigger amount of content, but spread over a year)
The LS is not the equivalent of an expansion worth of content. I wish they people who have bought into that hype would stop saying it is. It’s not just pure content, it’s the quality of the content. The quality of the LS is not up to par. And quite frankly what has been released is not really the equivalent of an expansion anyway. Most people associate things like new zones, new classes, new races, new weapons, etc with expansions. We only got one very small new zone that not very many people even go to (Southsun Cove). Most of the LS was temporary. Now they’ve gotten a bit better with that and are putting in LS stuff that is more permanent, but they have a long way to go.
Now could they theoretically release expansion-like content through the LS? Sure, they could but they sure as hell haven’t so far. Part of me really wants to see Cantha and Elona and yet part of me is scared because the LS so far just hasn’t been very good.
I don’t want Cantha and Elona ruined with a bad LS. I’m hoping we see an expansion. If they really intend on sticking to the LS format then they better pick it up because if the LS for 2014 is more of the same I’m going to be pretty disappointed.
And please, for the love of god…no more ascended gear or new tiers of gear.
Teq is done. Well, on higher pop servers at least. Though on weekdays he tends to only get done right after server reset. You can tell which servers are highly populated by looking at WvW standings. Gold and Silver league servers tend to have higher populations, especially Gold.
Go to Lion’s Arch. It’s easier to find stuff there. You can get there through the big purple asura gate in the sylvari city (or in any of the main racial cities). Another way to get there is to hit the pvp icon on the upper right area of your screen (it’s next to the question mark). Open that and hit “Go to the heart of the mists” once you port there you will see the large purple gate in front of you. Go through and you are in Lion’s Arch. Don’t worry, you will not actually have to pvp in the heart of the mists. It’s just a little trick one can use to get to Lion’s Arch if you don’t feel like paying way point costs or going to a main city. Lion’s Arch is useful because it has a bunch of gates that allow you to travel to the different starter zones for each race.
LA is all one level so it’s much easier to get around than the Grove. The bank is in the Trader’s Forum area.
Idk, the people on my server are nice enough still. But you are more likely to see nasty people in fractals and dungeons unfortunately.
Ascended gear also drops, most probably by a rate which is comparable to the time and effort needed to craft it all.
Drops are absolutely NOT a viable way to acquire this gear when you are looking for a specific set of stats (which most of us are). You pretty much do have to craft. At least until they release an alternative method.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
I’d rather Vanquishing not be relegated to dungeons. Vanquishing would be something I might want to do on my own sometimes or a group sometimes.
Yeah, pretty much. I am spoiled. Not that GW2 is perfect. It still needs a lot of work (but hopefully these CDI threads will help with that). But it is still a game with a lot of potential.
I resubbed to WoW a month ago and I’m just not feeling it. The combat feels so weird and clunky now. Though I have to say I do miss being a dedicated healer. One thing Anet needs to work on is moving away from Zerker and finding a stronger place in the game for support roles.
Let me know if you see a dev playing guardian.
They always seem so bored in their videos when they talk about the guardian.Me 5 minutes ago. Shout out to the folks hanging out with me!
Daw, that’s a cute charr. Those are rare imo.
Cute Charr exist! I think my charr is pretty cute personally. I love running around with her in game with her ranger kitty pet (called Pudding…I have another named Cupcake) and the mini white kitten. Kitties all around!
You wanted moar cuteness? Here you are <3
That is awesome. I really do need to get that outfit.
7. Mini pets: I have a few mini’s but never use them as i see no point, perhaps if they have an ability like renew food buffs when they expire (providing u have some in ur inventory to renew with) or +2 to each stat or +5 to a specific stat certain mini’s connected to certain stats etc etc. this would not only make them more appealing to use but also more appealing to collect.
I greatly, greatly disagree with this. Minis are supposed to be vanity items only. They should not add stats or do anything to give an actual in-game advantage to players. Especially since so many minis are in the gem shop. And I’m saying this as someone who actually owns minis from that shop and would have that advantage over others. They are just cute pets to have following you around.
If they want to do something with the minis it should be something like polymock.
On a mini related note, I don’t suppose we could “transfer” minis we have in GW1 to GW2 somehow? I would love to have my mini Kuunavang in GW2. It would be also awesome to have Canthan New Year again and have the special celestial minis be released like GW1 does.
I would say rewamping zones and adding to them is important. I already wrote that I love the idea of regional achievements, but new zones should be really a priority. It’s just because many people like me feel like suffocating when we run the same zones over and over again and for half of the year I had to revisit almost all of them to do some LS that forced me to repeat the same things on various maps.
So I would say new zones, them please add some regional achievements so we have something fresh and some new things to do in spare time if we want. Not like “it’s the only thing you will get so zones can be reused”, I think we all are past that.
Yeah, I want new zones badly. Not just because it’s fun to explore new places, but because of the stories/lore that could be introduced from places like Far Shiverpeaks, Cantha and Elona. I’m telling you Anet, if you did a Cantha or Elona expansion (or massive patch if you insist on this no expansion thing…I think that’s a mistake though) people would come back for that. People want to know what is going on in those areas.
Let me know if you see a dev playing guardian.
They always seem so bored in their videos when they talk about the guardian.Me 5 minutes ago. Shout out to the folks hanging out with me!
Awww you look so cute! I think I must buy that outfit for my ranger female Charr.
We need more Charr in general. I love Charr.
Letting players swap out skills on a weapon isn’t appropriate for GW2.
First of all, would you rather new weapon skills be placed on existing weapons, or would you rather get those skills on whole new weapons? ’Cause my thief really wants to use a staff as a melee pain-stick.
Secondly, keeping weapon skills locked is important for balancing the game – let’s not make it more complicated than it already is.
Swapping out skills in combat? I agree that should never happen. However, new skills to choose from per weapon while out of combat? I see no reason why that is not compatible with GW2. Hell, I think that’s how it should have been to begin with. I want new skills per weapon and utility skills and elites. That makes for a more interesting and complex game. More thoughtful decisions that people have to make. Adding more weapons per class? Sure, I’m all for that as well. But we definitely need more skills per weapon. Anet moved too far away from the way GW1 was. They felt GW1 was too complicated, but quite frankly they went the opposite way with GW2. We need the complexity of GW1 back. Not completely like that, of course but it certainly can’t be what it is now.

I remember in a prior thread you guys brought up Teq and possibly bringing up other bosses to that level. And I answered that it was a bad idea. I’d like it to work somehow though, because it would be interesting to have the world boss difficulty raised a bit more. However, my fear is they will all turn into Teq. Now Teq is a decent fight, but he either isn’t done at all on some servers or on ones like JQ he is only done at server reset and that’s it. If you miss that one event, you’re done. You’re just not getting Teq that day at all. It’s just a bad system overall atm.
You either have to nerf the fight or do something to entice people into doing this fight more often and not just at the first fight after server reset. I would like to keep the fight’s current difficulty if possible, so that means you must choose the latter course and give people enough incentive to return to teq. Not sure what you can do. Maybe drop additional loot even after the first kill for the day. Only it will not be as good as the first kill’s loot. Something along those lines…
You just need to think of ways of raising difficulty but not doing so in a way that will scare people off. The reward needs to match otherwise people just won’t show up.
I have been negative in the past towards champ trains because I have new friends in game and they are very baffled by the train.
On the other hand though- look at this pic- these guys are having a lot of fun and they are not harming anyone.
I did have a good laugh when the “self appointed dictator of Queensdale” told map to leave Shadow Behemoth because the train is at boar……
lol, that’s weird. On JQ the train derails when SB is called out in map and the zerg comes rushing to SB. Then of course they run off and start the champ train again.
The Anet people I have seen was a human elementalist and the latest one was a Charr Guardian in the overflow server waiting for Teq to spawn. Oh we asked the Anet Charr what he did and I believe he said he was a programer.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
Oh I totally forgot to put guild things in and that’s super important too.
GvG needs to be added, Guild Halls, more Guild missions and guild rewards. You need to add more things for guilds to do together.
Oh along with the return of Vanquishing it would be nice to have an Underworld type zone. That would be nice to do with the guild too actually…
One thing about Factions. I did not put it on my list because I am very wary of Factions. The game is kind of grindy enough and adding rep grind to the mix could be disastrous. I just think about other games and having to do rep grind on every single character…..ugh. It’s just really miserable to me. If it was account wide maybe I wouldn’t mind it, but per character? No….just no.
I know I’m prob repeating a lot of what has been said, but it’s important to show support for these ideas…
1) weapon/armor skin locker. The current transmog system is terrible and clunky. It should be very easy for me to switch around looks and it just isn’t.
2) more weapon skills, more utility skills, more elites, more weapon types for each class.
3) Customization of our home instance and/or reintroduction of the Hall of Monuments
4) More titles to work toward
5) mini activities (like polymock) and a revamp of the way minis work. They should not be in the bank or in our bags. They should have a tab in our Hero panel where you can summon them.
6) more armor and weapon skins to get in-game. Especially would love more cultural armor.
7) Bring back “vanquishing” somehow and titles appropriate for vanquishing. Perhaps access to special weapon and armor skins when you vanquish areas.
8) New zones. Let us go to the Ring of Fire. Let’s see Elona and Cantha again. Go to the Far Shiverpeaks and take back the Norn’s land. There are plenty of opportunities for great stories here.
9) New races. Would love to see Tengu or Largos as playable races.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
JQ does it. Though it seems kind of random when we do it. We’ll usually be off doing one world event or another and someone will suddenly blurt “Karka Queen?” and we’ll all go off. I’m guessing it’s best to try prime time (evenings).
Yeah, it will probably be a plate class. Which is kind of disappointing to me because I want to see an updated version of the Ritualist or Dervish, but neither of those are plate classes.
GW2 lore is far inferior to GW1 lore. Anet needs to go back to its roots and draw more on that old lore and bring it into the new. There is so much left hanging from GW1 that needs to be resolved. Instead we get the molten alliance and Scarlett. -_-
It’s kind of mind boggling. Here you have this good lore to use as a base and you completely ignore it. Here is hoping after the Scarlett stuff ends we’ll see stories based on the old lore. Not to mention they’ve been ignoring the whole Dragon thing. I want more stories about the Dragons. This can even tie in with the old lore. We can head to the Far Shiverpeaks and have a bunch of Living Story events where we fight our way through Jormag and his minions to retake the land for the Norn. See the Eye of the North again. Fix up the HoM for players to use (it’s currently kind of a mess atm and is only used for our GW1 HoM reward vendor).
Open the gate to the Crystal Desert and let us cross it to Elona and see what Palawa Joko is doing. Let’s take a ship and head for Cantha and see what they’ve been up to. Maybe Bubbles has been giving them a hard time and we have to help liberate them.
Or the White Mantle and the Mursaat? Maybe we could see a come back from them. So many things they can work with.
Another thing about Factions/rep grind. Please make it account wide. Nothing is more miserable then having to grind rep on every single character (I’m looking at you MoP). If you don’t make it account wide then at least make it so that after your main gains the rep that the alts all get a big rep boost or something so they gain rep faster. Still think account wide is the way to go though.
I would love for emp to drop from champs or world bosses too. Or to be able to trade bloodstone dust for emp. Don’t nerf the bloodstone drops please, just allow it to be used in more recipes or create a vendor that allows us to trade mats in for other mats.
