Sure wish we could be celebrating Canthan New Year in GW2 this week.
That is all.
Omg, that’s right it’s Canthan New Year in GW1 right now, isn’kitten Must run off to Shing Jea….
Too bad we don’t have Canthan New Year in GW2. That travesty must be corrected.
I think Mursaat is viable. “We” teamed up with them against some dragon. Don’t know what dragon, but “we” allied with the Mursaat, so it’s possible it could be Mursaat. Also Mursaat is very intelligent and powerful, it’s not like they are a lesser race.
See now this is something that doesn’t make much sense lorewise. The Mursaat aren’t exactly good guys. Plus I can’t imagine they are fond of humans. Humans helped to bring about the events that pretty much wiped them out in GW1. Plus, there probably aren’t very many left after that. I suppose Anet could always make new lore discovering “good” Mursaat, but it would feel weird. We didn’t really ally with the Mursaat….at least I don’t think humans did, other races did. And it was very temporary because the Mursaat basically peaced out and left the others on their own.
I mean, I’m all for being a Mursaat. I think that would be cool. But it just doesn’t make much sense unless you created factions in this game and made them a part of an opposing faction to the current races.

I don’t understand why you only want things YOUR way and no other way. You can have both casual content for the average player AND harder content. There is no need to limit things. Luckily Anet has seen the light and is not just sticking with easy-mode, ZZZZ go to sleep, press 1-fest shatterer-like content.
That’s one of the reasons I dislike wurm and wish we could keep marionette. I really hate the gizmo/gadget fest of the wurm. I have abilities and I would like to use them please, not rely on silly barrels or some other nonsense. If only we could keep the puppet…
They definitely will be adding new professions and races in time. We just don’t know when:
“… but we absolutely are going to do sweeping new features that you would traditionally only get in expansions – large regions, content and progression additions to your characters in the form of growth and professions and races. Those are all things that you will see in the lifespan of Guild Wars 2.”
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-14-you-thought-that-was-it-for-guild-wars-2
I do not see the issue OP. Adding new races/classes is standard practice in any MMO. In fact, it’s absolutely expected. Just roll a new warr. Or race change if/when they add that feature. It’s not really a big deal at all.
edit: gah, why the necro? -_-
(edited by xarallei.4279)
That’s weird. I’ve never seen the npc’s on the plats. If that’s true, I agree they should not be there.
The only reason I don’t see Kodan as being a playable race is because well….they are polar bears. Not much room for customizing there.
Maybe not in color, but they could have a wide range of subtle fur patterns, and the same level of variation in face and ’hair" that any of the other races have.
But they can’t as far as faces go. A polar bear head is a polar bear head. It’s not like the charr. They are cat based and there are many different types of cats to pull from for inspiration.
The only reason I don’t see Kodan as being a playable race is because well….they are polar bears. Not much room for customizing there.
No they aren’t evil. Because you don’t know much about the race they shouldn’t be put in? That’s incredibly silly. There’s a lot of potential for creating new, great lore with the Largos.
NO thanks, no need for this elitist wow bs in this game.
GW2 is open world everyone can join in, don’t like it? go back to wow.
If that was the case then dungeons and fractals would not exist. But they do. I honestly have no issue with instanced content for guilds. Don’t like them, don’t do them. That’s what I do with fractals. I just don’t want to see the removal of large scale open world events in favor of instanced only content. That would be bad. Why not have both?
Yeah, I have to say I was waiting for another perma pick to buy because I have been lazy and didn’t get the prior ones. But I don’t think I can buy this one on moral grounds. So I guess I have to wait for another one without the p2w aspect…
Um, Largos are not all evil. Where’d you come up with that. Largos are a perfectly viable race.
For many of us, the issue comes back to active server population numbers.
It has nothing to do with the difficulty (unless you count server recruitment as part of the fight). We want hard fights. Many servers just dont have the numbers to consistently tackle the fights they are putting in the game, meaning people are left out or have to resort to guesting (which causes a whole new set of issues – but is absolutely necessary or people would never even get the chance).
This is the issue I keep pointing out. The small servers need a merge. This will help everyone. The small servers will then have the numbers to pull off the event and will stop guesting on the larger servers. Which will hopefully lead to less overflow problems.
Basically – the fact that you are on a high pop server doesn’t mean that everyone is, or that event is easy.
It is easy. The event is a great event. The problem here is NOT the event. The problem is that small servers need to be merged desperately.
It’s all understood that they trying to help players with lack of skill grow and expand their gameplay, but don’t do it at the cost of fun of above average players. Being dependent on people that are either refusing to listen because they play “how they want” or are simply completely ignorant is down right frustrating. Especially on low pop servers where we don’t “beat Marionette all the time.” And that’s not because of difficulty, but because of players that are simply refusing to listen. Getting achievements done while being completely dependent on people like that is a non-sense (in reference to the dodging achievements at the pads).
Don’t mean to be harsh but that sounds like an issue with your server community. Not the event itself. If even overflows are successfully doing this then your server should be able to pull it off. But as you say, “people aren’t listening.” It’s a different story if you are on a small server and don’t have the numbers. Yes, that is something Anet needs to address for sure (merge small servers). But if you actually have the numbers and people aren’t doing what needs to be done that doesn’t make the event bad. And it doesn’t mean Anet should remove it or never do these types of events. Because other servers are successfully doing these events and having fun.
Though I agree with you that the achievements themselves should be tweaked a bit to be a little less dependent on the behavior of other people. If you successfully dodge on the platforms you should get the achieve regardless of whether the whole thing fails or not.
How on earth is adding EotM a “small” update? Some people…..shakes head
I agree. Even though sprockets are kind of useless imho it does set a bad precedent. Back off this kind of thing Anet. Please.
NPC? You mean pets/minions? Don’t use them.
Minions may be a bad idea, but pets make this Warden cheese easy.
Tank and spank.
It’s like this fight was designed by a Ranger.
Depends on whether the ranger knows what they are doing. I’ve seen some pets do exactly what OP is talking about basically ruining the fight. Not that I’m bashing rangers! My main is a ranger (though I usually go to Marionette as an ele).
I’m really kind of irritated by some of the comments in this thread claiming this content is “elitist” or “why can’t we have content that average players can do” in response to devs saying they want something a bit higher then average so people will grow and push themselves. Seriously? There is already content for the “average” folk. The whole open world for the most part is for average folk. So there is an issue now when adding something that pushes you a bit out of your comfort zone and now we must get rid of it because YOU don’t like it? Well, there are plenty of us who do like it and why shouldn’t we get content too.
And my server beats Marionette all the time. There are a number of servers that are the same. Even some of the overflows of late have been beating it. It’s really not that “elite.”

NPC? You mean pets/minions? Don’t use them.
In your opinion. I find them interesting.
Even fractals was just grinding the same instance over and over and over as “progress”.
By having exclusive content, you set a challenge for players that makes them want to actively improve at the game and progress their characters, as opposed to joining the zerg train in overflow.
Um, raids are the same thing though. Grinding the same thing over and over again every week. Just with more people.
That said, I’m not against instanced content for guild groups. Guilds do need more things to do together. However, they should NOT remove open world events. Many of us really enjoy them and I think it’s rather selfish of some people to want to get rid of that content totally in favor of instanced only. Why not have both? (Not saying you are saying that specifically, but some people have.)
I vote for Largos too. Tengu is also a big possibility.
Yes, please. I’ve been saying for a while that I absolutely want to see Largos as a playable race. Make it happen Anet! I’ll give you cookies!
Yeah, I personally really like these events. The Marionette is my favorite in the game right now and I am really sad that it’s only temporary. Please Anet, make it permanent some how!
I do not want these big events shoved in some small instance. That would ruin part of what makes them fun…their massive scale. That doesn’t mean I’m against instanced content for large groups. If they want to add that in as well, I won’t complain. But just don’t take away these open world events.
Not everything is meant for everyone. I don’t like fractals, but you don’t hear me complaining when they do fractal updates. I really like these new events. The marionette, in particular, is a lot of fun.
I do love having an awesome character creation. However, GW2’s isn’t that bad. It could be better for sure. It’s loads better than Wildstar’s. My god that character creation is so bad I can only pray that will will update it and add more things.
roll a new necro (you can delete it later) and then take the mask and tansmute to white item. The mask is not soulbound after this so you can take it and transmute it onto anything else for any cloth wearing character.
let people on platforms who have already completed help out with other platforms
We tried really hard to get this in. Every solution we came up with had technical constraints.
Why not take the invisible walls down between platforms so that the adjacent plats that are done can at least help out the ones in trouble? I know this is possible because on one of my early attempts at marionette my platform finished early and so I thought “hey, why not help the guys next to me out” so I started blasting the boss on the platform next to me. It WORKED. I was actually hitting and damaging their boss. I actually thought this was normal and was very surprised the next time I went in and couldn’t help the platform next to me. I suppose it was a bug, but obviously a good one.
Yeah, I do see them adding races long before them adding classes. Classes are more difficult to deal with because of balance issues.
Cantha
Cantha
More Cantha
Oh and Elona would be nice too.
Besides those two things, a proper wardrobe system, a better way of getting ascended gear, GvG, GW1 style missions with up to 8 players, Underworld type area, new races (Largos please), and a new ritualist and/or dervish profession.
There is going to be an expansion of sorts. It’s just a matter of how will they release it:
“The thing that we haven’t decided yet,” he went on, "is what form that type of content will take. Is it right for Guild Wars 2 for that kind of boxed expansion? Is it right for that to be something we add, live, through storylines in the game? Is that something we want to sell through our in-game store? There are a lot of different options available to us.
“… but we absolutely are going to do sweeping new features that you would traditionally only get in expansions – large regions, content and progression additions to your characters in the form of growth and professions and races. They specifically mention professions and races. Besides, we need another plate wearing class to even things out. Though I’d prefer to see a new ritualist or dervish.
You can always create a thief with the anonymity hood, and transmute it to a white quality (and low lvl) head armor, this will make the hood account bound.
This is what I did with my ranger. Worked fine and looks great. And yes, my ranger is a Charr female and I like the way it looks.
I can’t imagine deleting any of my characters. Especially, the level 80s. Why don’t you just buy gems and transfer normally? You can use gold if you don’t want to waste actual money.
Idk, I prefer to have control over what instance I am in.
Yeah, The best solution is to move to a single virtual server as ESO is attempting to do. What we have currently in games, server based, grew out of technical limitations and old thinking about resources and the distribution of work across them. A single virtual server, is where we are headed.
I want to say something about the “one” ESO server I really do. Alas, NDA….
As for GW2, the only thing I can think of for them to improve overflows is add the ability to choose an overflow. In Tera you could choose what channel you were in when a zone was particularly crowded. It’d be nice to choose an OF. Then again everyone would just try to get into the TTS one. ^^;;;
Well, it isn’t “one” server, it’s many servers. And it’s many instances of software. The move around virtualization is non-different from what is happening everywhere in IT.
And, if I were designing instances I wouldn’t have channels. In fact, I would have as a design goal, that players never know they are in an instance.
I don’t see how that is possible unless you build an absolutely flawless system that will never separate people. Which I don’t know is possible considering you do have to set a cap at something on any given “instance.” Unless the server is so massive it can handle thousands of people in an instance (which I have never seen in any MMO), people will get separated at some point. It’s just a matter of what is the best way of getting them back together again.
Leave it the way it is Anet. If you are in the zone and not willing to help out with the event then you should face the consequences when that event fails. If you don’t want to, leave the zone and give the spot to someone who actually wants to help.

I think warden 2 is fine. It’s pretty easy. However, I have been a victim of loading into 3 and into a downed state. Something needs to change on this one.
The wurm seems a bit overtuned. However, I think Marionette is fine. If I’m on the main we kill it most of the time. The overflows have a much harder time though. Too bad it’s not permanent. If it was, given enough time I’m sure OFs could get it (like they do with teq….sure, they aren’t always perfect but they do down it on some OFs at least).
idk, I think wurm needs tweaking but I think Marionette is pretty decent as it is. My only regret is that it’s temporary.
That and I kind think you should improve the loot a bit. I think I get more from tequatl atm. Maybe I’m just having bad luck though….
I don’t want to see this as a fractal. I would love for it to somehow continue being permanent in the open world. A lot of us like this encounter, but do not do fractals.
Wait you farm world bosses and aren’t drowning in dragonite? I have so much of the stuff it’s annoying. I’m running out of bank space because of it. I do wish there was some kind of trader so I could trade the dragonite for emp fragments or something.
If they want to add instanced content for large groups I’m all for that. That said, I am NOT for removing open world content like teq. I actually enjoy those events a lot. Teq is much better since the revamp. It will be great to see the other bosses revamped in some way. The only thing they might want to tweak is the amount of people needed for the new worm event. It’s currently a bit on the high side. Might want to tweak it so smaller servers won’t have so much trouble.
It’s nice not having another stand still and hit #1 fest that goes on with the other world bosses. So Anet, please DO keep releasing interesting world bosses.
Yeah, seriously. I NEVER got the monthly done before they made the change giving us choices. Now I’m always able to get it done. That’s one change that was for the better.
I do miss heroes. Not sure if you can implement that system into this game, but it would be awfully nice if you could. That and bring back GW1 style missions while you’re at it.
Yeah, it really sucks that we can’t dye hair accessories in game without using the makeover kit. And even then you are just offered the boring starter colors. If I’m paying actual money to change my hair accessory color I should kitten well have access to all the colors I have unlocked for it.
oh nvm, I found the first one. Was trying to figure out what on earth this was supposed to be about:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/CDI-Process-Evolution
To be honest, this one is kind of boring for me. I would think people are just going to repeat what they said in the first one.
I fly with my tag on quite a bit. I seem to have plenty of great conversations. And cake.
On JQ? If you do, I will find you and hand you some cake. Maybe pie too.
Now as for this dailies thing. I actually like the large choice is dailies. But I’m not a completionist. I’m someone who just likes knocking the daily out and it’s nice having choices. I greatly disliked how it was before when we had no choices for dailies and monthlies.
