Idk, you seem to be spending way too much money. I don’t have any issues with money. There is nothing you actually need in game to play that you can’t get pretty easily. There’s no need to go to the cash shop at all, unless you happen to want to buy mini pets or skins (all of which are vanity items anyway).

Way point costs can easily be made up with DEs. You don’t even need to buy exotics with gold(the cultural ones are way over priced anyway, you’re better off getting exotics from the trading post). You can go to Orr and get exotics from the karma vendors at the temples. In fact, the highest level of gear Ascended is not even obtainable with gold. You can only get them through fractals, dailies, monthlies and guild missions.

If you don’t like doing dungeons you can run around the Cursed Shore doing pent/shelt and Plinx events for money. They aren’t as profitable as they once were, but they still net some gold. Plus there are also the temple events for a guaranteed rare item which you can then salvage for ecto. And it’s not just the temple events in Orr. Many major zone events give these chests. Shadow Behemoth, Frozen Maw, Fire Elemental, Shatterer, Tequatl, Claw of Jormag are all big DEs worth going to.

Give me feeling of 1-80 at 80 :)

Absolutely NOT. They already added Ascended gear and that was terrible enough. Did you actually see the forums when that was announced? The amount of outrage was amazing. You need to understand GW1/GW2 fans are extremely anti-gear treadmill. It goes against everything the games are about. That’s why so many felt betrayed when Anet released Ascended gear. They promised us that they would not be putting out any more tiers of gear this year and they better kitten stick to that promise or there will be hell to pay.

I, personally am still really angry about the addition of Ascended. At the very least they are adding more ways of getting the gear but they are going a bit slow. And ascended backpieces are STILL tied to fractals. They need to add more ways asap (like a way to get ascended through WvW).

Charr are pretty much ripped straight from the Tauren of WoW. And I’m pretty sure they are one of the more unpopular races in that game. Not sure why a developer would choose to make that a playable race. A better alternative would have been Ogres. Again, you want more people to play your game then give them cool races that they want to be. Who wants to be a cow?

How on earth charr like Tauren? they both have horns and ears that are kinda similar I guess… that’s it. They certainly aren’t cows.

Yeah, besides the horns they are nothing alike. Charr are a steampunk inspired feline race. Tauren are a hippy, tree hugger cow race.

And let’s just face it, the Asura are basically just the gnomes of other games with a different name and skin. And that skin is just a weird alien-looking creature that most people didn’t care for from the beginning.

Asura should have been Gnomes
Charr should have been Ogres
Sylvari should have been Elves

Do that and they would have had a much better shot of this game being a mainstream blockbuster like WoW.

First priority should be making playable characters that appeal to the most people out there. The lore can always be changed.

Um, no. I love Charr and my main is a charr. I dislike Orcs and would never play one. We don’t need more boring, cliche fantasy stuff. I prefer Anet’s twist of these fantasy types. It’s far more interesting.

And I’m saying this as someone who likes elves and usually plays them. Elves are nice, but they don’t really fit GW2. Humans basically fit the role the elves would normally take with the whole “dying, once glorious race” thing. I remember the old design for sylvari was pretty much just elves. I was pretty unimpressed. When I saw the redesign I was actually excited to play a sylvari. The new look fits their story/lore so much more. Very glad they chose to redesign.

Wow, this is an excellent find. It should be stickied and be required reading for all the forum warriors.

LOL. That article is great. And too true. I’ve seen it countless times. If you go by the forums most games would be dead and horrible failures. It simply does not give an accurate picture. I’d say you’d need some sort of in-game survey type thing if you were going for more accuracy given that most players don’t visit forums.

GW2 seems to be doing just fine. And it’s certainly not a failed game. Does it have the same population as launch? No. But most games don’t. The population still seems fairly strong though. Anet made a game where people are constantly coming and going. You can take a break and then come back and unlike certain other games you aren’t left playing some horrible game of catch up. You can generally jump right back in.

You have to ignore the doom and gloom folks. If these type of people were correct WoW would have been dead years ago considering the amount of crying and doom saying on those forums.

in Living World

xarallei.4279

Don’t listen to the nonsense Anet. Many do appreciate you adding content to the open world. Especially those of us who hate dungeon running. What I want to see is more focus on story in the open world. I suppose that’s what this living story is aiming for, only I hope it lives up to that in the end. I’m talking about GW1 level of story that we saw in Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall. A story where we actually care about things and want to know what will happen next.

I feel like the whole Elder Dragon story falls flat. They are so impersonal and it just doesn’t make me care at all. I’m kind of wary of the Living Story because it’s just flame legion and dredge. But then again it could be the beginning of something interesting and epic. Prophecies, afterall began with us just fighting Charr. Things got more complicated as the story moved on. That’s what I want to see here. Make me actually CARE Anet.

And please for the love of god don’t shove important story things in bloody dungeons. Bad enough you shove vital personal story parts in dungeons. If you go for instanced content for the stories it should be like the personal story instances where you can go alone or with a few friends.

Then you might consider rewarding better than blues and greens. Not just blues and greens with the odd rare and an infinitely small chance for an exotic and even smaller chance for a Precursor.

Ditto for the dragon encounters and other temple events.

Then they’d need to seriously buff the dragon encounters first. Right now they are pretty boring and faceroll. Yes, they buffed that aura/dot from Claw of Jormag to try to get people to actually protect and help the golems and not stand there just spamming attacks at claw, but the fight is still greatly missing something. The Orr fights are done a bit better. They need to redesign the other fights to be on that level at the very least. It would also be nice if each boss had the chance to drop its own unique reward.

1) Largos. I REALLY, really want to play as one of these. Anet, make it happen!

2) Tengu. Just seems obvious they will add them at some point. Maybe in a Cantha expansion? One can only hope.

3) ummmm, no clue. The other races don’t really fit to be honest.

I would like them to not force us to go into dungeons for our personal story. Sorry, but if it’s my story I should not be forced to group up. It’s fine if it’s an instance that allows 1 person and scales so you can bring friends. It’s not ok for it to be shoved into dungeons that absolutely require groups.

Other then that, I’d just like a better story in general. The original GW1 did a good job with story, but I feel GW2’s story (both personal and especially in the open world) is extremely lacking. The dragons are just boring, impersonal enemies. I just don’t care about them.

April Monthly

I like how they did change it so we could choose which monthlys we wished to do, but I do not see why any PvP or WvW is added into this, there is already a PvP/WvW monthly category for players that wish to play that style of play. Can’t we add more PvE things to this and remove all the PVP/WVW content from the regualr monthly?

WvW doesn’t count for the PVP monthly because that’s for sPvP. Anet doesn’t really count WvW as PvP. It’s a PVPVE hybrid type thing so it’s fine being in the normal monthly. It’s one choice. You don’t have to do it. Just like I don’t like dungeons/fractals so I’m not going to do those.

Thanks again Anet for giving us a choice.

While I feel for the OP and his difficult work situation, I just don’t agree. The laurels are easy enough to get for the majority of the playerbase. It will take you longer to get your laurels, unfortunately, but you will get them in time. Of course, I’m not against Anet adding some other alternative methods of getting Ascended gear. The more the better *coughs*WvW*coughs*. But I don’t think there is anything wrong with the daily system as it is. It’s pretty accessible to most casual gamers.

xarallei.4279

Honestly, I can’t think of a more casual game that I have played. I guess maybe minesweeper or something like this. Or hearts.

I disagree that this is a AAA title though. At least from my definition, a AAA title would have an automatch-making system for things like dungeons. I expect basic functions like this to be in game at launch or shortly after. But for this game I don’t think these types of things will ever be implemented.

Disagree completely. An LFG tool does not make an AAA title. Hell, it was only in WotLK that WoW even got an LFG. Yet, I highly doubt anyone would call that not a AAA game. Rift didn’t start out with one either. I think it’s a deliberate decision on Anet’s part not to include it. But who knows, maybe they will one day.

Is this the most casual MMO ever?

I suppose it is in a way. Out of all the MMOs out there it’s probably the easiest one to gear out characters in. Well, they added Ascended gear (which I still violently disagree with) but exotic gear for the time being is still pretty kitten good and very accessible. Plus, they are starting to add different, more reasonable ways to get Ascended other than fractals. Even considering Ascended gear it’s probably still easier to gear out characters. And this is a GOOD thing imho. I always hated gear treadmills in other games. It’s nice to know I can take a break and then come back and not be horribly behind everyone.

And with a hectic work schedule I don’t have quite as much time as I used to. GW2 is really the perfect MMO for people who don’t have loads of time to sink into a video game.

I would like to bury this topic in the ground after seeing this:

’’DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a highly creative and extremely passionate person to serve as a designer working on content being developed for Guild Wars 2 in China. The game designer will work closely with the design leads to ensure that the core vision, game content, and gameplay created is carried through the development of new content, features and live operation of Guild Wars 2.

PLUSES:

Familiarity with Chinese and Korean online games.’’

http://ch.tbe.taleo.net/CH05/ats/careers/requisition.jsp?org=NCSOFT&cws=1&rid=1354

We can take from this that the to be hired Game Designer will work on Guild Wars 2, we can also take from this that it’s a plus to be familiar with Asian online games.

Ofcourse this doesn’t say specifically that Guild Wars 2 would need a game designer for Asian themes in the game but if NCSoft would ask ArenaNet to stray away from it and keep it neutral. Why request specific for familiarity with Korean and Chinese online games? Also why would NCSoft ask such a thing of ArenaNet to keep it neutral? I don’t believe that they have power over that.

I would also like to note that it is inevitable that we travel to Cantha and Elona for that matter, it is a part of Guild Wars as much as Tyria is. It might take months or years before we go there but we will return because it would be silly to believe that developers haven’t thought of returning to other continents while working on the original ‘’Prophecies if you will’’ Guild Wars 2.

Ofcourse they are going to say we might do it, we haven’t really thought or talked about it much but that’s ofcourse the code of secrecy they must obey. Otherwise tomorrow we would read just about everywhere that an expansion of some sort is leaked or hinted by an ArenaNet employee.

Returning to other continents with the new game engine of Guild Wars 2, it would be of epic proportions to see the renewed Kaineng City, Jade Sea, Desolation and what have you. I know for certain that it was on everybody’s mind at ArenaNet when they saw Guild Wars 2 take shape and how epic those area’s would be.

I would love to believe that this was some sign that Cantha is going to happen, I think they just are hiring people to port the game and make it more palatable to the Asian MMO crowd. It’s a very different market from the Western mmo market.

They need to bring in Cantha though and I hope it’s not far off. I’m too curious about what’s up over there and I can wait to explore the areas to see what has changed.

It doesn’t need to be hints. Just reminders of the region. But Anet seems to like leave options open for themself which they can work on in the future.

As regarding Cantha I do think they’ll put it in the game. I think NCsoft’s making a bad picture of themself if they would forbid an entire region for a number one selling game 2012. They are the publisher and not developers and their role regarding Gw2 is marketing. I wouldn’t be THAT much concerned that Cantha won’t be in the game. However what I am concerned about is how much NCsoft is going to destroy it by making Anet do huge changes that lore won’t do much of a help. ‘’The Great Collapse’’ is a joke and makes me angry at NC so yet again. The region will most likely come. But as for the moment we can just spectaculate about how it will be.

I know. I was already not fond of NC Soft. This news just makes me bloody hate them. Seriously, I wish Anet could totally break free from them completely. I think I’ll definitely be boycotting any NCSoft games (not GW2 of course but I don’t consider it an NCSoft game, it’s Anet that’s really behind it) in the future.

2) Please allow us to sort armor by type in the Trading Post. It’s annoying when I’m trying to look for something for my ranger and a ton of light and heavy armor pops up.

3) This is more likely something for a future expansion but, please allow us to unlock more weapon skills that we can choose from. Keep the action bar as it is, but give us more choices.

4) Cantha. It needs to happen.

5) I second the idea that personal story needs to have a single player mode for all parts of it. You really shouldn’t need to get a group to go into dungeons to complete your own story.

6) You know that cat with the witch hat that you summon with the Witch town clothes/broom? That cat is cute and I’d love to have it as a permanent pet. Maybe put it in the cash shop next Halloween? While I do feel your pain (I’m more into WvW and I don’t do dungeons or fractals….that’s just not my thing), the crafting one is super easy. I actually don’t mind it at all.

However, Anet could solve all these problems by implementing what they were supposed to implement….an ability to choose which monthlies you want to do just like the dailies. And it WAS supposed to be in game. When the patch launched there was even a message stating that you “only need to do a subset of the dailies or MONTHLIES”. It specifically said monthlies….yet here we are at reset without the ability to choose. Very disappointing.

I mean I am happy with this monthly. It means I’ll actually get to do it for once. But next month I expect the same old dungeon and/or fractal requirement which means no monthlies once again. Now before laurels I didn’t care about it. But with the implementation of laurels it’s kind of a big deal now. That’s why we need choice. Please put it in Anet. Please. I’ll send you cookies!

This is very disappointing considering when the patch went live there was a notice IN-GAME that you could choose a subset from the list of daily or MONTHLY activities. It specifically said you’d be able to choose from the monthlies yet here we are at the reset and it is not allowing us to choose.

So yes, this month is all well and good and I’m happy about it but I expect next month to be more of the same dungeon thing, which means it will be yet another month I don’t complete.

I’ll actually be able to do the monthlies because I won’t be forced to do dungeons. Very happy right now.

Seems instanced pve got a lot of love with the fractals and open world didn’t get much at all. Which is a huge shame. You need to encourage people to be in the open world, not in instances.

No. Legendaries are being upgraded to Ascended.

Basically, you know how Legendaries = Exotics now. Well, once Ascended gear is released they are buffing Legendaries to be on par with ascended. And exotics will become obsolete.

Yeah, just tell her to make her character on another server in the meantime. When the server is listed as “high” she can then transfer to TC. She just has to constantly be checking the status. Try at odd hours. Like early afternoon on a weekday or very late at night.
