If they claim to know your DPS or gear, report with extreme prejudice.

You mean if they claim to know your dps AND gear. Knowing your dps with a DPS Meter is perfectly legal and it’s useless trying to report it. Only if they know your build and/or gear is it an issue that you can report them for.

You don’t want anything to work like renegade SB3. That ability is terrible. First you need to be at max range for it to even do the best damage (useless for raids) and on top of that it’s bugged and doesn’t work properly on uneven terrain or if you have any sort of object blocking part of it. Which most likely means it will continue to have this “feature” for another two years or so.

Renegade's Design Aimed Inconsistently...?

in Revenant

xarallei.4279

Rev was never overpowered in PVE that’s for sure. They were wanted in the beginning for Natural Resonance, but after that got nerfed and they didn’t get buffed in any other way to compensate revs just disappeared from raids. Now you don’t really see them outside Deimos. Power rev is crap and while condi rev is definitely better now, there are still much better condi classes to bring over a rev. Renegade is supposed to fix this, but who knows. I am annoyed that they never reverted any of those nerfs they gave us because of pvp. With skill splitting there is no reason to not reverse those nerfs, especially with power rev being in such a bad place now.

I don’t have a problem with the idea of SB. When I first heard it was going to be that I was fine with it. Maybe because I play condi ranger and our SB works well. So I assumed renegade SB would be decent. But for god knows what reason they forgot about raiding and made attacks like SB3 work only at max range. They forgot that rev in essence is still a melee class. Their other condi set is a melee set and for raiding you need to be in melee with the rest of your group. Why they are ignoring this is anyone’s guess.

Getting into a raid will be very hard with zerker gear and that weapon set (the power ranger set is usually LB and sword/axe, but even then nobody wants power rangers these days). You can probably pug lower tier fractals with a power ranger just fine though. In open world of course you can run with whatever you want. But yeah, the gear to get for dps rangers these days is Vipers for condi ranger (with shortbow and Axe/torch). Condi is the name of the game for many classes now. But we don’t know if PoF will introduce a better condi set yet…

Irenio said shotgun is not healthy

in Ranger

xarallei.4279

in the guildchat Irenio specifically addressed the renegade where he specifically pointed out shotgun designs are not healthy for the game or the players (and he is my hero from now on because of that)

As someone who plays ranger and rev, I find his statement incredibly frustrating. I feel once again, that the devs do not know what they are doing with revs. SB3 on renegade shortbow is next to useless in a raid environment because you need to be at range to use it properly. You need these skills to work in melee range because that is where the raid is. Did they forget how raiding works or are they planning on changing it so drastically that we don’t need to be in melee anymore? So they think shotgun is not healthy, so instead they create something that’s the complete opposite and is useless. Why not just do away with these weird mechanics where you either have to be in melee to do the most damage or at range to do the most damage?

DPS meter really?

Or say:

Casual T4’s, 2hr run YAY.

The attitude here is what people don’t like.

And the other half of us don’t like the attitudes of those thinking they are entitled to get rewarded for selfish play and behavior.

So let me see if I get this right, coming in to a run that has no specified rules with your own build just playing to have fun is a bad attitude? Many people who run “sub optimal” specs simply enjoy playing the game their way. Some players are unable to play at the “meta” level: a player I know had a stroke and can only use his right hand. His dps is a bit lower then others when it comes to moving and fighting, so that makes him “entitled” or his play and behavior “selfish”.

Seriously; expecting everyone to play how YOU want all the time is just as selfish if not more then then them wanting to play their way. If someone enters a run that says speed run, DPS etc then I understand. The attitude I’m referring to is the toxicity in some of the posts, and the assumption that anyone not playing “meta builds” wants to be carried for free.

It is incredibly rude if the listing specified that they want meta or speedclear exp. You know full well that these people don’t want sub-optimal specs, but you join them anyway? Yeah, that’s rude. (General you btw, not you specifically). On the other hand if the person only lists “VG” and nothing else. Well, that’s on them…

Many of these issues stem from people either not listing their group correctly in the lfg or people not reading the lfg listing properly. If you list your raid, list it very clearly. Whether it’s “all welcome/laid back” or “training” or “meta exp” and “speedclear.” And people joining need to respect those listings. Otherwise, they should not be shocked and come crying here when they get kicked.

The Kalla Legendary on the other hand gets interesting when compared against Jalis. For one, the Razor well adds Bleed for each person who hits with it, but the bleeds count for you and take your stats. So if you got 5 people hitting each second it’s going to add a lot of bleed. The Energy drain one is the uncapped damage add which I see getting a nerf because holy crap if it’ll let us add damage on each hit with no ICD. B

Now this I agree might very well get nerfed. But revs are used to nerfs I suppose.

Ah I edited my post but you didn’t see the edit in time. Anyway, for pve raiding hitting 25 targets doesn’t matter. There usually are never that many targets in raids. In WvW I suppose I see it being an issue.

For raid, I can see some uses from the Elite and Razorclaws.

Are you guys seriously did the testing properly?

Short bow is doing so much aoe condition damage with just #1 (pierce trait) and #4.
It can hit up to 25 targets, causes massive bleed and torment, while dealing aoe burning.
This is everything ranger SB wants.

Well, it’s hard to tell on these targets because they die quickly. Which is why I said I wish I had special forces. For the class targets my mace/axe definitely killed them faster. And yes, I did use 4 and 1 on the SB. Didn’t go down as fast. I had full ascended vipers too. Plus I changed the spec away from the default pvp one.

Plus there is the real issue of SB#3 being pretty much useless if you are in melee (which if you are raiding, you are in melee most of the time). It only works best at range.

edit: I did not test on multiple targets. Mainly because that’s useless for raiding purposes. The only time you have that many targets is on trash mobs or something and GW2 raids don’t have a terrible lot of those. I care more about my damage on bosses.

no need for any dps meter there is a golem to test it on to see all that

Golems are a terrible metric to go by. You need to see your dps on actual bosses. There is no boss in the game that just sits in one place doing absolutely nothing while you beat on it. The dps there is not really realistic for most normal players.

Leave the damage Condition and Power

As far as I know, top damage classes in PvE are Thief, Elem and Guard and their builds are power. In addition, open world PvE significantly favor power builds. From PvE standpoint things seem fairly balanced between power and condition.

Thief’s top spec is condi, not power. Power ele and guard are only high on large hit boxes. Though guard is respectable at least. If you look at the small hit box benchmark it’s mostly condi, condi, condi. There is a definite bias toward condi as far as raiding is concerned.

Those benchmarks always make me so sad. I want to play a power rev, but it’s just not viable at all. I gave in and flipped my gear to vipers. Power ranger is also a dead thing. So despite my condi ranger being nerfed, I’m sticking with it because power ranger is just terrible atm.

Use these together with the foods that boost a single condition (like +15% burning) and your traitlines (or sigil if you have no traits for it) and DPS is more or less comparable, so only classes that stack alot of different conditions like Necro are affected, my Guardian, Warrior and Thief are the same as before.

I would say Necro and Revenant got hit the hardest.

Actually, I think condi rev is doing slightly more damage than before so it’s not been hit that hard. Necro is well, just necro….they have their own problems that go well beyond food issues.

As for the whole condi food issue, like others have said it really did need a nerf. And I’m saying this as someone who plays a condi ranger (who actually probably got hit the worst of anyone). But I’d rather they buff my class then mess around with food to be honest.

We’re already there.

Stop believing in fairy tales. We have a power meta and we’ve had one since day 1 launch.

Delta (creator of arc) was communicating directly with Chris and unlike BG (as much as I love his work), Delta was listening to Chris and complying with his requests. He removed the gearcheck off of arc a long time ago and the only part left was the QoL build templates which was separate from the actual addon. And even that he took down recently in order to confirm with Anet that it’s okay. So no, you are most likely not going to be banned for using arc.

Note Chris in the thread even said “To the developers I am already in dialog with, keep up the good work.”

Bhagawan did not comply and so he was banned unfortunately. He already pulled down the meter I think and it will break when the next patch hits. It’s highly doubtful Anet will ban anyone else at this point.

What would be the point? The meter is dead now anyway and you’d only make a lot of people very angry. What’s done is done. BGDM is gone.

No Xarallei he didn’t misunderstand as BGDM and arcdp are the mostly used and Anet made their stance about the semi compliant BGDM, no direct memory compliant dps meter is available atm. So everyone using such one now is in direct violation with TOS.

For god’s sake read what Chris said in those threads. Chris also responded in the new goodbye thread as well. Meters generally ARE legal. The thing that got Bhagawan into trouble is he insisted on releasing a non-compliant version of his tool as well as the compliant one. Arc does not have a non-compliant version anymore. Stop spreading misinformation.

Well, that’s not a fair comparison.

  • He hasn’t unlocked all of his skills. Not to mention traits.
  • His equipment is probably a bunch of greens and blues.
  • The footage is most likely from a press demo pre-release. (Noticed the compass?)

You didn’t have to be lvl 80 for champion, veteran and elite to be challenging.
The video is a perfect example of how EPIC the event was.
You obviously missed Beta and release in 2012.

Oh I miss that event. It was loads of fun back then. It got the nerf bat hard.

“hard and fun”

To often i get the impression that players who consider hard content to be fun, fail to understand that not everyone considers hard content fun.

This is true. But there can be a compromise. Like I said before, you don’t need regular trash mobs to be hard. Those should be a normal difficulty. Also, things tied to HPs or mastery points should also be soloable. But that doesn’t mean there can’t be more difficult group content in the open world too. Which is where things like the bounties come into play. Maybe we will get interesting world bosses too. But hopefully, there will be content to satisfy BOTH groups of people

Depends. I absolutely think anything tied to HPs needs to be soloable. That was a mistake that they made with HoT.

And there is nothing wrong with big boss world events and stuff like that. I love those things and yes, they need a group. I’m actually sad that they nerfed several of the world bosses so that they are too face roll now. There should be some difficulty to these massive events.

However, regular random mobs across the map? Yeah, those don’t need to be really hard. The last thing I want is to be trying to get from point A to point B and being dismounted every five seconds by trash mobs that take long to kill. That is NOT fun. That is boring as hell. IMHO the bounties are a great way to integrate group content. The random champ event here and there is fine too (not hero point or mastery related please). And then world boss level events should be challenging of course.

WoW has beginner mode raids and I can tell you from experience people don’t learn anything from them. The current difficulty is really not that bad all you need is to find a training group.
