This is really upsetting to me. That’s major lore that they have to know is of interest to many of us. It’s so disappointing that they chose to put it in raids. I’m super busy with work atm and don’t have time for raiding. Maybe someday I will, but not right now. Watching youtube or reading the wiki to “experience” this is just not the same thing.

If you are going to nerf UA to kittens you need to increase the damage per hit more than you did. Or up the might. Something. People can’t complain because they can now dodge the thing, so please increase the damage. I’m still skeptical on sword 2 quite frankly.

They should have just left sword alone. Nerfing it because of pvp whining is ridiculous…I almost feel it’s better to just use staff and ignore sword.

AND they haven’t fixed all our bugs. Walls still screw us over. UA stops at walls or gets you stuck in a wall. The Jalis vengeful hammers also are bugged with walls still.

HoT is not challenging

I’d like the see those claiming HoT is not challenging link videos of themselves soloing stuff like, say, some of the Hero Challenges, maybe the one in VB with the Vet Teragriff, pack of wolves and mender. We might learn something.

I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not but isn’t that one the easiest one to solo?

Forum warriors can claim anything. If HoT really offers no challenge to the OP, surely posting such a video should be trivial for him.

But posting that doesn’t prove anything. That is literally one of the easiest HPs to get in VB. Now if he had a video of him soloing it back when it was a champion then that would be an entirely different story. Or pick any one of the other champion HPs.

I still love you Anet, but I do hate when you give in to crying like this and go back on your word. You said you would give us a difficult world boss for HoT. I’m really kitten disappointed.

You should have just removed collections items from the chak gerent event and kept the difficulty.

Horribly disappointing. I liked the chak gerent before. You promised us at least one difficult world boss Anet. And technically the chak gerent wasn’t even that bad before anyway. It did not need a nerf after the nuhoch lane fix.

And it’s BS to say there shouldn’t be any difficult content in the open world. Most of this game is still very easy. It doesn’t hurt to have some open world content that is somewhat difficult and not completely braindead faceroll. God I hope they add an elite zone one day.

Countering revenant?

in Ranger

Posted by: xarallei.4279

xarallei.4279

Revenants are very strong one v. one. They grow weaker the more people are around. Run to a teammate if you can. If you can’t and you are engaging him keep your pet close by so you can split the damage of the UA with your pet. If you can get near a wall…hug it. UA stops working once the revenant is by a wall (seriously, this happens to me on my rev all the bloody time it’s really annoying.) Stealth is also very good against UA. Blocks/invulns work well. Pay attention to when he has enchanted daggers up because he is about to burst you most likely.

Make sure you do NOT hit him when you see infused light (his glint heal) on his bar. If you hit him, you will heal him. Not hitting him means he heals for crap. If the rev is shiro/glint he is very weak against condi. When he switches to shiro light him up with condis (though with your staff/bow I don’t think you can do that, but if you decide to switch to condi spec keep this in mind).

A revenant in Shiro has excellent access to cc breaks with riposting shadows so keep that in mind. When in glint he is more vulnerable to cc.

Now a mallyx condi revenant is kind of a different story. These can be extra tough because of their torment spam and their resistance to condis. Remember if they stack torment on you the last thing you want to do is run away. You need strong condi cleanse against one of these.

But then how do you even play the game at all? I’m not being snarky here, I genuinely want to know. I have a hard time seeing how you can enjoy the game at all if it’s really that bad. I’m sorry things are that tough for you and like I said, I do actually hope Anet hears you out and adds a non-raiding method for acquiring legendary armor. I just can’t agree with you on the buying it with money part.

The selling of raids/dungeons is terrible. It always has been. But there is little Anet can do to control something like that. Unlike something like say…making something BoA instead of BoE, which is what they did with the current set of legendaries. That’s much easier for them to control. Anet outright said that the prestige was not there with the prior legendaries because they could be bought, that’s why they made the new ones BoA.

On a different note, if you tried the first boss how did you like it? If you keep trying who knows maybe you’ll start having fun and actually just want to raid more often just for the hell of it.

I don’t think most people care about who buys what in the gem shop. I myself have bought plenty of skins and minis in the shop. What people don’t like is the ability to “buy prestige.” A prestige item should remain a prestige item and should not be purchasable with money. This is especially true when it comes to raiding rewards. I think if Anet releases the legendary armor through a non-raiding collection many raiders will be very upset. Personally, I’m ok with them releasing legendary armor through a non raiding in-game method. The best compromise would probably be to release it with a different skin through a collection in game.

No, it wasn’t the first MMO. But it did have a huge and very undeniable impact on mmos.

Look I understand that GW2 is a bit of an unusual game. Legendaries have free stat swapping. Ascended has stat swapping, but you need to pay for it. But in this case, so long as runes are such a huge thing and cannot be switched freely it means that the legendary stat swapping is just not all that useful a feature at all. It’s just never going to be a requirement for raiding. To be honest, even if it did have free rune swapping it STILL would probably not be a requirement for raids. It would just be something convenient to have. Two ascended sets would still be equal to that.

You mean like you are doing. BiS is a long established term in mmos used by min/maxers. It means what is best for your character stat-wise. It always has been used this way. It always will be. You are the one misusing the term.

Actually, regardless of whether I agree with eldrin’s overall stance, he is technically right about the phrase (the deal is, if Anet was using BiS to mean stats, then he is wrong in that context).

Let’s look at some definitions for BiS:

Best in slot (also “best-in-slot”; usually shortened to “BiS”) is a term meant to describe the very best item, enchant and/or gem available to a character for a specific slot. While there are differences in opinion there is usually a generally held idea of what is the BiS. This term is used by the twink community for things that are best for particular levels, while it usually refers to level cap things.

Some players consider such “BiS lists” to be absolute, while others consider best in slot to be relative to your other gear, talent specialization, and play style.

Best-in-slot slot gear can change from patch to patch and may only be correct if the underlying methods or theorycrafting used to determine the item’s status is correct.

Gaming acronym for Best in Slot.
It refers to a piece of gear that is the best piece you can equip on a specific place (like a weapon, or a piece of armor).

Best In Slot is used by gamers to define a piece of gear which is simply the best for their gaming character in a specific slot (eg. head slot, pants slot etc.)

In none of these is it saying, “We are talking about stat differences no matter what and everything else is wrong.”

The reason stats are what is primarily thought of when speaking about BiS gear is because most games don’t give you weird stuff like the ability to swap stats. Legendaries in this game are technically BiS, due to the ability to swap stats, but it is debatable how useful the stat swapping is when you take into account the importance of runes/sigils.

It’s not a common usage of BiS simply because it’s not a common feature. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong. But like I said, if Anet meant “BiS by stats,” then eldrin doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on. Anet would be wise to be mindful, in the future, of how the phrase can be interpreted, given the uncommon design of their game.

Edit: Mixing up names.

BiS is a theorycrafting term used by min/maxers. Anyone who has played WoW and raided for any amount of time knows what this means. They don’t have to say “we are talking about stats!” That is obviously implied. The whole idea behind best in slot is what gear/set up will give you the maximum amount of dps your character can possibly get. That is the same when you are talking about legendary and ascended. No raid leader is ever going to say “LF2M legendaries only,” but you will see LF2M full ascended only." It’s not about what an individual player personally feels is more desirable for his character. If that was the case it would include the look of skins too, which it doesn’t. Pretty skins have nothing to do with BiS.

And without the ability to swtich runes the whole legendary stat swapping being “better” is highly questionable at best. You are better off having two ascended sets.

The fact is BiS being about stats IS the common usage and it’s obviously what Anet is talking about when they discuss BiS and not invalidating people’s hard work. If you notice most people here are not confused about this term. They know what it means. I think Anet knowing most people’s familiarity with it assumed most people would know exactly what they are talking about and they didn’t feel they needed to spell it out. Apparently they do though. Maybe Anet is right whenever they say things are “too confusing” for people afterall. I had always assumed they were just babying players.

Actually Colin has said that ascended is never going to be replaced. He’s made these comments in several interviews. Here’s one off the top of my head:
https://youtu.be/gIJeblpbcr8

At around the 8:30 mark of the video. And like I said, this isn’t the only time. He’s said it multiple times. In fact, his statements are the whole reason why I bothered to make ascended gear to begin with. I was always paranoid of it being replaced and felt that it wasn’t worth the cost of making it. After he made his statements saying ascended is the final tier I decided I’d suck it up and craft my gear since it won’t be replaced. Hopefully. O_O

edit: Oh and this statement:

And the main issues I have with you isn’t that you want legendary armor. Fine, you want a way to get legendary armor that is not tied to raids. I can actually get behind you on that one.

But that’s not all. One, you seem to want a way to buy your way into legendary instead of actually playing the game. And two you keep accusing Anet of fraud and deception when there is no such thing. Just a misunderstanding on your part because you don’t recognize what BiS is and the way Anet defines it. Accusing Anet of fraud is outright libelous.

You would probably have far more sympathy and a better reception to your statements if you refrained from making libelous comments and just focused on asking Anet to create legendary armor tied to some non-raiding collection. You can keep making the statements you are making, it’s a forum for discussion afterall but you shouldn’t be shocked when there is push back to some of these comments. You are going to get responses and you have to deal with that.

of course legendary is objectively the best in slot. It´s not even debatable.

Legendaries have the ability to switch stats on the fly which make them objectively better than ascended items. They also tend to be the best looking items in a game that is all about cosmetics (at least it used to before the ascended gear treadmill was introduced for raids)

In six months to a year legendary armor will be required for raids so that you can change stats on the fly for every raid boss. Ascended gear will become the new exotics and people will exclude you from raiding if you only have ascended gear as it is the case now with exotics and raiding.

This is so ignorant it’s not even funny. Changing stats on the fly is useless when you have to change runes. It’s far more efficient to have two set of ascended then to be constantly changing legendary. No one is ever going to require legendary for raids. Ever.

So you are saying you support p2w basically. Because people should be allowed to spend their money as they will and get whatever they want? And we shouldn’t care that it takes away from the prestige of the items in question. There are no history books or record books in mmos. The only way to distinguish people who have actually done the work from not is with the actual item. So yes, making that prestige item buyable with money degrades it. Again, thank god western gamers reject this type of thinking.

You want legendary, you need to earn it. That’s the way legendary should be. It’s a prestige item.

Yes, because all legendary weapons out right now have been earned on an epic quest, and not on the TP or by simply falling over them after a valuable pre dropped from a random mob, or because people cashed in to buy their chosen legendary. Right? No? Strange enough.

And Anet said that was a MISTAKE. Which if you notice they have since rectified by making all future legendaries account bound and not for sale on the tp.

And your analogy is off. It’s more like here is the world cup…..oh but you don’t have to actually play to win it. You can pay money and have it just handed to you! But oh that’s the same value as playing the game and earning it. Yup. Same thing. /s
