Also did you just beat the meta or did you wait for the map to change? In Verdant brink, the boxes come at dawn after a successful meta, not on completion of the meta.

It’s not in the bouncy chest boxes you get on the lower right of your screen. It’s in the giant in-game reward chest that appears once the event is defeated.

It is a 100% drop for defeating the entire META event, not just killing one of the gerents. When I killed the one in scar lane, but the event failed I got nothing. When my guild actually beat the meta I got my helm casing in the large event chest by the ley line wp.

Why not have both? That’s what I’m doing. Having fun switching back and forth between the two.

I feel like they talked more during the early betas and now they tend to hardly ever talk and just grunt. I think I’d really prefer the talking to the grunting. I can understand you don’t want them talking too much but I think they could talk a little bit more.

I got my tiger today! Finally was able to get through Dragon’s Stand without dcing. Well, actually I did dc once early in the event but I was in a group and was able to get back in. When I found them I put up my tag and told all the rangers to come get their tigers (seems a lot didn’t know where they were).

Happy to have my tiger, but these guys really shouldn’t be locked behind such an event.

The infusion of light complaints are just plain stupid and are a l2p issue. Don’t bloody hit the rev when it’s up. You can dodge and block UA. The skill must be kept as it is for PVE at least otherwise it will become useless like it was in the earlier betas.

Can we fix this glint facets deactivating bug please? I’ll have 3 active which does NOT drain your energy, but any time I jump maps or use a wp my facets turn off. It’s really annoying. It never did this in beta so I’m not sure why it’s happening now.

Not to mention the Jalis vengeful hammer thing where they stop working even when fighting mobs or champs (not even around walls). Though this is a totally different bug….

Can someone post a map pic showing exactly where the tigers are like we have for all the other pets?

They are in Dragon’s Stand. But you can only access them when the big meta event is beaten.

Don’t care about the shield nerf much, but I’m severely unhappy with the infused light nerf. It’s most unnecessary. Please revert.

Thanks Anet! While I pretty much have druid unlocked on my main, I have plenty of alts and this will make getting elites much more tolerable.

On the contrary, if you’ve been around these parts you’d know Roy has been extremely receptive to us. And no, the majority did not say rev was op. This is just another example of someone not understanding the class and crying for nerfs.

I don’t know about ranger stacking, but I really hate having the pets gated behind this event or gated around some high level mastery. Give me my tiger!

is it possible the tiger was not added yet? Knowing Anet’s history, and the fact that we found one pet in each zone, and there are only 4 zones, that the fifth pet is kept for a release of a new zone?

Or worse, perhaps this pet was put in a fractal somewhere? that sounds like something they would do…

I’ll be really kittened if the tiger is in a fractal or in a raid. >_< Maybe it’s in a place that requires ley line mastery. Which is almost as bad. It’s really silly though, there are plenty of tigers in VB…the juveniles should be there.

I already explored the whole dragon’s stand excluding the mastery gated areas (I bet that’s where the pets are )

There’s also the area that is gated behind beating the blighted tower event. I think there is a good chance they might be there.

The hero points are a pain in the kitten . Especially if you are solo. However, you do not need to grind the same events over and over again. If you get bored of an area leave it. I’ve been to all the new maps already and I rotate around them when I am in the mood.

The fire wyvern is also found around the wyvern scar area of Dragon Stand. Up top. You have to use jumping mushrooms to get to the area. It’s much easier to just get them in the canopy though.

The people who were there doing the event said the only way to access that area was to beat the boss and event leading up to it…but im not sure, I havent done it yet.

Yeah, I was talking to people in map and they said the same thing. That you have to beat that event and then the area behind it opens up and that’s where these pets are supposedly. No one has beaten the event though, so it’s just guessing. But I haven’t seen these pets anywhere else so I suppose they must be there.

That’s the northern blighting tower (the big red circle), tigers certainly can’t be there. Unless you mean they are by the yellow dot?

There is a spot by broken alter that has a vet tiger and normal tigers, but I didn’t see any juveniles. It could be that certain conditions must be met before they spawn though. Who knows.

Yeah, I understand the damage was way high for something so tanky but getting rid of the smoke field is just silly.

I ran into more fire wyvern’s in Dragon’s Stand by that wyvern’s scar place. Haven’t seen the electric one yet though.

I haven’t had any issues with empty maps, but it does feel like the numbers are a bit off. Maybe the server is capping out too soon and not putting enough people on the map. Or maybe they might want to consider raising the cap considering for a lot of these events you need a decent amount of people. A good example is the big Tarir city event with the 4 plant things you need to kill almost at the same time. Each group needs a good amount of people yet time and time again it seems like there’s only enough for only one or two of the plant things. Now this could simply be due to the fact that people haven’t gotten to the map yet, but I’m not sure….

Should I feel bad that when I first got onto the map and walked over there they were already spawned and ready for me to grab. ^^;;; Not my fault, just lucky.

Just got the smokescale in the exact location everyone said it was at. It is night time. I just got to this area so I have no clue what tier it’s at. There are two spawned from what I see, maybe even three considering I just took one.

edit: I think it just spawned quickly because I’ve been here a while and I just see two.

The saddest thing of all is that many of the elite specs aren’t worth the trouble. For the amount of time & effort required they should be total game changers, but unless you’re a Necro, Mesmer or Revenant, they’re more of a novelty than a necessity.

Yeah, that’s why I’m not going to bother unlocking druid on my ranger main. Druid is just not worth it to me atm.

However, revenant feels very incomplete without Herald so I’m going to have to grind that one. And I really want reaper for my necro. sighs

To have to do both mastery grind and hp grind is horribly dull. I’m ok with the mastery thing, but the 400 pt requirement for the elite spec is just too much. And it doesn’t help that many of the hp in the new maps are either a pain to get to, you need a certain mastery for it, and/or they are champions that require a group. Not cool Anet, not cool at all. What’s going to happen when the map inevitably empties out and someone wants to run an alt through?

Same here. I unlocked all my traitlines and and my mistward collection is still locked. I also leveled in the tutorial with my tomes. I want my mistward.

Well they definitely need to fix this. I am not deleting and remaking my revenant. I’ve already unlocked several hero points, not to mention have gotten decently far on the maps. Anet please fix this. Pretty please, with cupcakes on top?

This does bother me a bit. Right now it’s fine. But what is going to happen when the maps empty out but you are trying to get an alt through? Even now with everyone in the new maps I don’t find all that many people at the points (mainly because we are all spread out in the map most likely).

Since I was planning on having 2 revs, I went ahead and made my second. I still don’t have access to the mistward collection despite having all the traitlines.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but even though I’ve unlocked all my revenant traitlines I still have no access to the mistward armor collection.

Hello, well I made my revenant and used up my scroll and tomes to level to 80. I then unlocked all my traitlines, however, I’m still locked out from my mistward armor collection. Someone in the revenant forum mentioned that when you unlocked the traitline you were supposed to get a scroll and consume it. I did not receive any scroll when I unlocked my traitlines.

I’m not going to remake my revenant as I already spent a significant amount of tomes on it and don’t want to waste any more. Please fix this issue so we can unlock our set (I know I’m not the only one with this problem). Thanks so much!

It’s paid time off. I’d much rather be at home than at work on HoT launch day. And the original head start for GW2 was quite smooth overall. Yes, there will probably be some bumps along the way, but for the most part I expect to be able to play. And if I can’t, well I have an extra long weekend and that’s always nice.

I’m going to make 2. One will be a charr female. The other a male human. I actually don’t have many human characters since most of mine are charr, norn or sylvari. So I figured I might as well make one a human for once.

It is a crappy icon, don’t get me wrong. But I think the dragon for herald makes sense. We channel a dragon, you guys kill them. Still think you should get a better icon.

The DH icon is an arrow head. The Herald icon is a dragon because Glint is the legend. You guardians really need to get over this already…

Hell no to the gem store suggestion. That’s an abomination. I’m not thrilled with the 400 points, but I’ll take that over having it in the gem store.

But I’m sad that the launch is 3 am EST. I don’t think I can make it. I think I’ll go to bed really early and wake up early instead. Still thinking about it because I do think it would be cool to watch the twitch stream as they “press the button.”

But the first thing I’m going to do is make my revenant and rush as quickly as possible to the jungle. Not giving up my ranger, but my rev will basically be my other main.

I wish they’d tell us how many points we need to unlock all the skills and traits. The fluff items I can wait for, but I do want my full Herald unlocked as soon as possible.

I would be even more scared if some of the hero challenges require the highest level of masteries.

e.g. the gliding mastery
Ley Line Gliding Ley Line Gliding: Learn to enter ley-line energy flows while gliding to be moved along with the flow, gaining access to otherwise inaccessible places.

This one would require 16million exp to unlock. To put it into perspective, you need 200k exp to level up for level 80 character. That is equivalent leveling up 800 levels!

If that is the case, I probably won’t fully unlock my elite specs until next year.

Now THIS is one thing that did cross my mind and concern me. If the hero points are in areas inaccessible without high level masteries that is a problem. Now if you just need something like gliding and bouncy shrooms then that is fine because those are relatively easy to get. But if I need ley line gliding mastery….that’s going to hurt. Then I might really be forced to go into old tyria for my HP on my rev. Which is exactly what I don’t want.

I also wish we knew how many points we need to unlock all the traits and skills for the elite spec. I don’t really care about fluff items like skins, those can wait. But I want my traits and skills in a reasonable amount of time.

Except you don’t! There are enough hero challenges in the jungle you don’t need to do any in the core tyrian world – those simply speed you up on day one if you already got them.

Thanks Colin for finally clearing this thing up. I’m not super thrilled about the amount of points needed, but I am glad that you are able to get enough points exploring the jungle alone. That was a huge concern of mine. Imagine leveling my Revenant with tomes and instead of running to the jungle to explore the new maps and level my maguuma mastery I’m stuck running around old tyria so I can unlock my Herald. That would have been very lame. This will at least allow me to level my masteries as I earn my hps. Plus the WvW hero point change will be good for my alts later on.

Thanks so much for this change. It’s an amazing change for pve rangers.

Oh thank god. To finally have this brings tears to my eyes. It’s really frustrating to have your pet die instantly to unavoidable AoE from bosses. AoE is around more than ever with HoT….I remember in the beta my pet was dead for most of the fights against the legendary wyvern.

This is a valid point, and a good one at that. My only argument to this would be…

The Elite Specs and Ascended Gear are not a part of the “core” aspects of the professions.

While they certainly help a great deal, and offer new and interesting powers we haven’t had yet, it is not considered a “core” aspect. Because they are not “core” aspects, then that means they are “optional” aspects, which as you pointed out… are locked behind content to provide incentives to play other game modes.

So then the argument boils down to: “What is a Core Feature of the Characters?” and I think that can be answered by asking “What do Free-Players have access to?” Anything not on that list, Which includes most of the HoTs content, at least in my opinion is optional content.

I am open to any arguments that would stress otherwise.

Anything that affects gameplay and gives an advantage to other people is not really optional. And let’s be honest here, if you’ve played any of the elite specs you would be hard pressed to say some of them don’t give huge advantages. The existence of these specs will effect WvW dramatically and as such there should be a valid way to get hero points in WvW. It’s very different from an optional fluff skin which doesn’t affect anything. There is simply no comparison here.

Now maybe some of the elites simply need nerfs or the core specs need buffs to fix this, but as it is there is a huge problem. But honestly, what on earth do you have against there being multiple ways of getting elite specs? Again, this doesn’t even just affect WvW folks, this is a problem for people with many alts as well.

This hero point system is boring as hell. There has to be a better (more fun) way of letting people get elite specs. A special class quest line or something. Anything. I think even with my WvW alts, I would be down for an interesting class questline to unlock the elite specs.
