Embrace the Darkness will turn the Revenant purple with this pulsing animation. It’s very obvious when it is being used. Just so you know how to keep an eye out for it. It may not have a cool down, but it’s not something that can be spammed due to its high upkeep cost.

Yup, I never bothered using it much because without the evade it was more likely to get you killed and its damage made it not worth using. Now it’s actually useful in pve and pvpers want it nerfed because of 1v1 pvp. It’s infuriating.

Don’t know why so offensive. I suggested just to limit the hits per target. For the “pvp is a team game” thing: the skill would function almost the same because you will hit multiple targets. Just that there are only 2 hits for each of them.

Yay, then it would be useless in pve except for trash! Just what I always wanted. /s

But if people are complaining about exclusives to raiding and are ok with exclusives elsewhere, then they are being irrational.

Not really. If people don’t want to raid, but want the rewards exclusive to raids, then not wanting those rewards to be exclusive to raids is an extremely rational position for them to take, whether it’s one that you agree with or not, and regardless of their feelings on other rewards.

Then they are being bloody hypocrites. You can’t be ok with exclusives for content that YOU like and then not ok with them when you don’t like the content. Then you are just being a selfish kitten .

(Note I’m not talking about you specifically Ohoni, because we all know you don’t like exclusives at all so you not liking raiding exclusives at least makes logical sense.)

There have ALWAYS been exclusive rewards in this game. Liadri, Tequatl, Triple Trouble, Glorious Armor, living story armor, etc. Why is it you only have a problem when the exclusive rewards are from raids?

Why do you think i don’t have problem with those?

I wasn’t talking to you now was I. The person I was quoting was acting as if exclusives were some new thing to raiding. They aren’t.

Now if you want to argue that all exclusives should be eliminated, that’s another story (one I don’t agree with at all, but whatever). But if people are complaining about exclusives to raiding and are ok with exclusives elsewhere, then they are being irrational.

I think the examples people are giving are hardly on-topic anymore…

The best example on the topic is every other RPG ever released so far in gaming history, that doesn’t use a 100% pure random loot system. In every such RPG ever created, items are rewards behind content, very very specific content. Usually the hardest dungeons and the hardest bosses also have the best possible loot. That’s how every RPG ever works, video game or even not video games, like p&p RPGs.

The game masters make dungeons, and they add dungeon-appropriate rewards for them. Usually in a lot of RPGs, since they are single player, and not meant to be repeated, you get the exact item the boss character is using. You want that Staff of Awesome Time Bending that is held by a powerful Lich Wizard? Well you will probably have to go and kill him, or infiltrate his castle and steal it. Farming his minions that plague the countryside won’t reward you the item no matter how many you kill.

You want that epic gemstone that is part of a Dragon’s hoard? You will probably have to infiltrate said hoard and either kill the Dragon or find another way to get it, still doing the actual content. Farming the random goblin army minions won’t give you the item.

Yet in MMORPGs players have this weird idea of everything being available to every type of gameplay although this thing doesn’t exist in any other RPG, so why should it in MMORPGs?

Because “Play your way” was one of the marketing promises? The ability to do what you ENJOY, not what was REQUIRED, and to be able to enjoy the top-tier rewards. Because for 3 years, we haven’t had raids with exclusive rewards, and quite honestly only a very small group of people even wanted them?

Now, ANet has drawn a line in the sand: raiders are more important than non-raiders, and get exclusive rewards that can’t be earned anywhere else. If that’s their decision, well, it’s their game, but its not the game I bought, and not a game I’m interested in supporting.

There have ALWAYS been exclusive rewards in this game. Liadri, Tequatl, Triple Trouble, Glorious Armor, living story armor, etc. Why is it you only have a problem when the exclusive rewards are from raids? This is getting ridiculous. People are just letting their blind hatred of WoW raids get to them and are not thinking things through. This isn’t like WoW where only raiders can get the best stat gear. Anet have always said they want the highest stat gear available to everyone and that has not changed, nor will it.

Someone lost in pvp and is crying that something is OP. What’s new. There is already a thread with suggestions on how to counter it. The game should not be balanced with 1v1 pvp in mind. UA is strong against one opponent and weak once you throw more people in there.

This is why I hate the fact that Anet chose not to split skills properly in pve and pvp. Inevitably it will get nerfed due to pvp crying and become useless for pve.

This is always the type of response you see right before everyone realizes something is OP. Here is the reality for you. This is the new class from ANET. It will be OP right at the start. Why? Because people aren’t as used to playing it. After launch, it will be slowly nerfed.

Then it will be useless again. Just like it was before. They buffed it for a reason. It was terrible before.

Again, the game should not be balanced over 1v1 pvp. Once you throw even one person (or pet) in there UA’s damage goes down dramatically.

Or at least if they change it, they should change it to what another poster suggested and basically load most of the damage toward the end. That way if someone is not being braindead and is paying attention they can dodge the most damaging portion of the ability. Something like that would at least leave the ability useful in pve. But the ability needs to be strong and it needs that evade. Otherwise it’s useless.

I mean if they absolutely have to nerf it, I suppose I’d rather they do it by this way. Putting most of the damage at the last portion of the ability. Still don’t think it’s necessary, but I hope they don’t do something silly because of the pvp crying. I actually LIKE using this for once. Before it was buffed I basically NEVER used it because it was useless.

Strange ascended weapon on berserker

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: xarallei.4279

xarallei.4279

Yeah, but it has two upgrade slots like he mentioned. One handed weapons always only have 1 slot. This is an issue. There should not be some kind of special one handed weapon that gives 2 upgrade slots. If they are changing it so that all off hands have 2 upgrade slots then it’s ok as long as all two handed weapons get THREE upgrade slots.

And the change would need to be on all weapons across the board, current ascended, exotics, etc. If there are special weapons in HoT that are the only ones that have extra slots that to me is the equivalent of a gear treadmill. Which is something they said this game would not have.

Maybe it’s a bug though, who knows.

I absolutely LOATHE hearts. Please Anet, do not bring hearts to this zone for the love of god.

Anyway, while I do like the chain events I do think there needs to be more random events scattered throughout the zone. If they did that, then I think it would be fine.

As for the zone, well overall I like it a lot. But I played the first beta and unlocked gliding and the jumping mushrooms right away. If you don’t have those two masteries then the zone does get kind of annoying. But the gliding is really fun and actually makes me enjoy the vertical nature of the zone. As for vistas….did you try to get the mastery points on the map? Not exactly like vistas, but it does lead to exploring. You need the gliding for a lot of them though.

in Revenant

The game shouldn’t be balanced for 1v1 pvp to begin with and as others have mentioned you can double dodge, use an evade, use an invuln, use retaliation, use confusion. If you are a ranger, your pet will eat some of the damage. UA is much weaker the more people are around, but it’s strong against one target.

Worst comes to worst I would hope Anet would split the skill between pve and pvp so they don’t make it absolutely useless like it was before for pve.

in Necromancer

Chill should always do damage if it’s traited to do so on targets regardless of whether they have break bars or not. The chill effect should also at least reduce the break bar somewhat. Not sure why they wouldn’t address this. No point in adding this whole chillomancer if the only they are will be good for is trash mobs.

Of course there is still the stack cap. Idk, make it so you can stack the damage on chill like burning and bleeds, but make the chill effect not stack like that. Not sure if that’s possible though.

Edit: Or do like ron just mentioned and make chill add another damaging condi type instead.

Basic Enemy Combat Difficulty

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: xarallei.4279

xarallei.4279

The difficulty is perfectly fine. People just need to practice and learn how to fight the mobs. I’ve been spending lots of time just fighting certain mobs and finding the best and quickest way to take them down on whatever class I am on. Once people are more familiar it will become easier.

Snipers are VERY squishy and can be burst down quickly. This is especially true for any class with reflects. Smokescales are a little tricky, but the key is to make sure you don’t try to fight them inside that smoke circle of theirs and to dodge their teleporting attack.

Oh and it’s not true that elite specs are supposed to be superior to core specs. I don’t think Anet ever said that. They are supposed to be something that gives you more options. A new play style, etc.

edit: To poster above. It’s already been confirmed that there will be 4 maps. Four maps, three biomes for most of them (though maybe not all?)

If the first boss is easier and more casual player friendly, it might be possible for the more casual folks to get some goodies too. It will take longer of course, but it might be possible. From what I remember I could have sworn they said each boss will get more difficult. That doesn’t mean the first one will be a walk in the park, but it might be doable for pugs/casual folks.

Why wouldn’t you have exclusive rewards for specific content? Even Tequatl has exclusive rewards, and Fractals, and Dungeons, and Dry Top, and the Silverwastes… What would be the purpose of not having exclusive rewards?

Very correct, now all they have to do is implement legendary armour, skins, minis and titles for the top tier in pvp and wvw and the game will be able to offer something for everyone …

If you want the rewards for certain content, then you have to do that content. That’s what exclusivity means. What are you getting at?

He wants exclusive rewards for pvp and wvw. Not the same ones as the raid gives. Which I agree with. Those game modes need more love and while a legendary back piece is a step in the right direction, it’s not really enough.

So basically the game only gets challenging with end-game content? That might sum it up for me then. To me, leveling has primarily been the experience. I remember doing quests at around lvl 20-30 in WoW and it was a challenge and getting a good party was essential in dungeons and the like, as well as getting good equipment. I liked the leveling system in WoW and how PvE was challenging no matter what level you are. I wish I could go into the settings and set the difficulty at this point lol.

Any chance the dev’s will nerf the difficulty so it’s more difficult throughout the whole game?

I’m confused because you actually said WoW leveling was challenging. I have always found it faceroll. And it still is faceroll, right up to level 100. I don’t find it any more challenging than leveling here. That’s not to say I don’t agree with you about leveling in GW2 being easy, because I actually do. They should return the difficulty to what it was in BWE 1. However, that’s most likely not going to happen and you’ll have to wait until level 80 to really meet some more difficult mobs in the open world. Good news is Verdant Brink is pretty good difficulty wise for HoT. I’m only afraid that Anet will cave in and nerf it.

If casuals succeed in clearing the raids of GW2 , I will quit the game."

I was checking out some topics regarding raiding on Reddit when I came across something unbelievable.

Get a load of this post :

“Everyone, we gotta send Anet a message.

Make sure you post on the official forums and send Anet lots of emails. Tell them that no raid in Guild Wars 2 should ever be puggable.

Real players like us deserve our bragging rights and legendary armor.

Casuals should never be allowed to clear a raid. Say no to PUGs. Lets do this people!!"

WTF, seriously?? Check it out yourselves. This is the topic:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3iy258/guild_wars_2_raiding_has_to_be_hard_duh_why_and/

The raids had better be puggable . To hell with your “bragging rights”.

Well that thread writer is very rude. BUT, he has a slight point. If content is so easy that people can just pug it then that really is not challenging group content. Quite frankly there should probably be a hard mode to resolve this. But I don’t mean hard mode like heroic vs normal raids in WoW. I mean hard mode versions of fights more equivalent to Ulduar during WotLK. I think that would be a good way to keep things inclusive for more casual players, while still allowing more hardcore players to get their harder content.

I appreciate the sentiment, but the idea is bad. One of my guilds is a very large guild. Everyone is very excited about raiding, but the way things are I highly doubt we’ll be able to get everyone into raids as is. Now this type of bonus would be beneficial at the very start. People would rotate in and out. But what happens when the whole guild does the raid? Then they start bringing in strangers and benching our own guildies. That’s not right.
