I would hope that the glint spec is good enough to spec into and not just for swiftness.
If 3 had an evade I would think people would use it little more. It would be useful then if you are out of energy for a dodge and need to evade.
Greatsword lifeforce regen is so bad. You’d think it would be better. I feel like for a shroud spec I wouldn’t even bother using the GS.
If you want glint traits, you need to take her trait line but you do not have to use the utilities/equip the legend. I was running around on my reaper and didn’t bother using any of the reaper shouts. But then again we really don’t know how Glint is going to change the mechanics of legends and legend swapping.
But if the ooc swiftness is tied to Glint traits then obviously you must use that trait line, but you don’t have to use utilities. If it’s tied with the utilities then you must also take the Glint trait line…
WS should NOT be tied to legend please. For instance, I think Shiro/staff is actually a really nice combo. And I do not like using ventari as my second legend. To be honest Shiro works really well with most of the weapons. Locking weapons to legend would be awful.
Overall, I’m loving the weapons swap. I’m very happy they put it in.
Shiro’s heal definitely needs a small buff. As does sword 2. Offhand sword 5 is extremely buggy. It doesn’t work half the time and feels useless. It’s such an awkward skill I really wish it was just a normal pull rather than the weird thing it is. It would also be nice if it had vuln or weakness.
I really like the fact that we can move while using sword 4, but it would be nice if the block lasted maybe a second longer. That’s not a huge deal I suppose.
Read the post right after that. He’s simply going to add a small cd to legendswap ooc.
However that won’t be needed probably, since keeping that up is not a good idea.He also said we are getting more swiftness, so don’t worry
Ah, I didn’t see that one. Though that’s a shame, I like the fact that it doesn’t have a cd. But if that’s what they need to do, then that’s better than taking away IO speed out of combat.
It would be nice if the invocation line (or the glint line?) had something in there to reduce the CD of the swap.
1 second of swiftness? 1? No, really…1?
Impossible Odds is a pulsing quickness and super speed while you are upkeeping the skill.
Does it trigger the cd of legendswap when out of combat? I’m curious to know if we are going to be able to use it (almost) permanently while ooc.
It’s not intended to be constantly used out of combat, but I think in the version you all get to play this weekend that you’ll be able to do what you said..
So you are going to make it not usable ooc? That’s a TERRIBLE decision. The current very of impossible odds is fine and actually makes playing the very slow revenant tolerable. Revenant has no speed increases and no access to swiftness other than equipping a mace and Jalis (neither of which I do).
Yup, rapid lacerations should be baseline. We shouldn’t need to trait it. Shiro is supposed to be a fast attacking spec.
Offhand 5 is incredibly underwhelming. It could at least apply some sort of useful condition like vuln or weakness or something.
The sword main hand needs tweaking. Since they bumped up the damage of the other weapons (which is a good thing! really!) it feels meh. I think it could use a smallish buff.
What do people think of the offhand sword 5? I don’t personally like it much at all. What’s the use of it? For pvp? Because it doesn’t feel useful in pve.
Yup, Victory or Death is completely broken. I’m really surprised we haven’t gotten any sort of response to this. It’s blocking progress afterall. I also heard that even if you do complete it somehow, the Arah dungeon track is not unlocking like it’s supposed to. Haven’t seen that myself though.
Hello, any idea on what is a good condi pve spec? I want to try it on my engie alt.
You love it. Deep down inside, you know you do.
But yeah, I’m not thrilled with condi ranger being the best. I’m hoping HoT isn’t too bad with pushing the condi builds and that zerk is still a great alternative. I would really love if they buffed the remorseless specs somehow.
Hmmmm….I prefer zerk to condi builds. Still I’m not touching my ascended zerk gear since I still suspect they are going to nerf burning. Maybe a bit after HoT’s release when it seems safe I might swap over and try it out. Or maybe I’ll try crafting an exotic set of sinister to have on the side. Or does this only work in full ascended?
This happened to me. I jumped in to help someone who was doing the personal story Arah and no one could use the cannons.
So it’s pretty much undoable now.
I’m deciding between a female charr or a human male. Hell, maybe I’ll just make them both. I have two open character slots with HoT anyway….
For all the people saying Svanir is difficult, let me try and say this as gracefully as I can.
For you, he might be difficult. Perhaps even for a large majority of the population he might be difficult. But for a small group of dedicated pvpers, he is VERY easy to kill. No, I’m not exaggerating, I promise. If need be, I can make video proving that he is very easy to solo. In fact, I’ve had to solo him many times in the past during an intense game and I’ve pulled it off just fine time and time again.
The fact that a dev nearly died trying to kill him is a testament to the fact that the new specialization is not very effective, or to the fact that the dev(s) simply aren’t very good.
I’m not by any means an elite pvper and I killed both of them very easily on my zerk ranger. And it’s not like they were focusing on my pets either, they were running after me the whole time. And I only used my bow sparingly, so I was mainly meleeing them. I was curious because they getting saying in the live stream how hard these guys were and I was very surprised by how easy they were to beat. I know eles are squishy, but it’s alarming at what a difficult time they seemed to have in that video.
I wonder if these classes are just very bad or if some of the devs just aren’t so good. Shiro revenant also had a terrible time against these bosses and actually got downed. Makes me worried for revenants too…

a fractal reward track would be nice tbh
Yup, I would love a pvp reward track. I would not expect it to offer the best things like those fancy new skins, but it would be nice to have some fractals rewards available at least.

Not to mention with the pvp reward tracks you can get the tokens to get your gift for the old legendaries. And eotm makes it easy for those who don’t want to really wvw to get badges. Locking new legendaries to fractals only seems against the spirit of this game. I don’t mind if there is a particular back piece legendary that is fractal only. That’s cool and all, but I would hope there are ones you can get outside of fractals.
Not that I really care about this because I don’t really care about legendaries generally and would probably not bother getting one even if it was outside of fractals. I’m just saying it does really suck for those who want the new legendaries and hate fractals.
Now the thing I am concerned about is that ascended water breather recipe. You better be able to put that on the tp because it’s unfair for something like that to be locked behind fractals. We don’t even have an exotic version for god’s sake.
The Winterday pvp track has an exotic breather. It’s the only one in the game as far as I’m aware.
I take it that only unlocks during wintersday? Or is it unlockable any time? It’s only water breathers I suppose and underwater combat is not a big thing, but it severely annoys me how I have complete ascended on my main except for that kitten rare water breather.

Ele with weapon swap would need a huge nerf. Eles right now are in an awesome place. They are one of the most well rounded and solid classes in the game at the moment. They really don’t need weapon swap.
I really want druid to be next, but I have a horrible feeling it will be warrior. -_- I guess we’ll find out when they put out the teaser tomorrow.
Elementalist is the strongest class? Every profession has equal potentials.
Well, that’s simply not true. Any ranger and necro will tell you.
That said, OP why would buffing underperforming classes be a bad thing? They need the buffs.
Rangers are no longer bad, Just saying Loads are now jumping on the proffession its really strong since the patch, so to say they still suffer is a Lie.
The issue with necromancer has existed LONG before tempest, to now see a reveal and be like WOAH! guys WOAH! what about necro they so bad?! why u giving this to tempest???? Im sorry but its just ridiculous to pull up that argument, the proffession has been bad for ages and it isnt ONLY tempest which proves that so just isnt a valid argument really.
My comments have nothing to do with the tempest so I’m not sure why you are even bringing that up. My comment was in response to the person who said all base professions were equal. And the amount of denial by some eles as to just how strong their profession is, is truly astounding. That people can say with a straight face that they are on the same level is rather shocking. And just to note, since some of you assumed automatically it was all about dps and only dps. It’s about what you bring to the table…dps and support. That’s always been one of the main things necros ask for, better group support.
I’m guessing part of this is just pure defensive reactions. You don’t want nerfs. Well, I don’t want you to get nerfs either. I’d just like some of the lesser performing classes to get more love.

While I agree with your first statement, that second is just completely inane. The condition builds on both my necro and my ranger outpace that of my elementalist by leaps and bounds. While a hybrid build for my ele is undoubtedly better than either. And in the case of my ranger power build as compared to my ele, I wouldn’t say one is flat out better than the other, but there is no amount of sustain that is safer than one of the highest damage weapons in the game at a range no other class can even approach.
You will seriously argue that ele is not flat out better than ranger or necro in pve? Seriously? Sorry, what I said was not “inane.”

OK, even if ELE was the most OPed class in the game, it wouldn’t make people stop having reasons to play other classes. People need to be less ridiculous.
This.
I main a ranger for god’s sake. There is little reason for me to play it other than the fact that I love the class. Even if ele elite spec is great it doesn’t mean you should stop playing what you like. Unless you are a flavor of the month reroller or something.
I was wondering the same thing. My ele is my second most played character and I usually run with a staff (though I do have daggers, a scepter and a focus in my bags). But I’m just not sure that overload is enough to make it worth taking the tempest trait line.
Why do you say that? Revenant is weak compared to other classes. I don’t see how adding the ws in this case means they won’t buff other things. The class was so bad off they needed the ws and it STILL needs help quite frankly even with weapon swap. And like Kidel said above, it’s not like adding the ws makes the class overpowered. Not with that energy cost and cd. It just gives the class more versatility.
Please don’t listen to OP. Let us test out the weapon swap for ourselves in the next beta.
So….healing spring is being looked at, right? I know the original intent was to “fix” it so it works with trapper runes, but you ended up breaking it and now no one uses it. Not even the very people you broke it for (trapper stealth rangers). I’d rather have a properly functioning HS and if it means it not working with those runes then so be it. Fix HS not healing the pet. Fix HS not going off when I stand on it at full health for a condi cleanse or regen. Just give it the old functionality please.
So the thief in this thread admits that he is not afraid of melee ranger at all and he is only afraid of LB and rapid fire and he wants that nerfed?
Yeah, no. LB is fine and ranger does not need more nerfs.
Its meant to go along with Glint legend and Shield off hand.
keep that in mind.
From the datamined shield abilities, Glint is support heavy. At least for the shield…who knows about her actual utilities, but I’d suspect they are also support based considering how heavily each weapon seems to be geared towards their legend.
Um, axe is our best offhand. It has been for a while now. At least it is the best for pve purposes.

Please let’s not be yet another class that complains about the revenant (we already have necros, thieves and even a warrior doing that).
That’s not to say that we don’t need fixing because god knows we do. But let’s not drag the poor revenant into this.
Again, I will point to the remorseless ranger and say that they have better fury uptime right now. The damage modifiers outside the power line in general are not good enough atm compared to other classes.
I think that first one is just the legendary stance button and not a utility skill.
They need to give revenants other ways of getting fury. Right now the numbers for the GM make it unworthy AND you have to factor in that revs don’t have reliable sources for fury other than a heal skill and breaking out of a stun (and how often does that happen?) Have a look at a remorseless rangers, they have numerous sources of reliable fury (pet swap trait, weapon swap, GS trait, warhorn). If they are going to make this fury GM a “thing” then they need more synergy with other traits and skills.
Then you are stuck with mace and the jalis road for your swiftness. That’s basically what I was doing during the beta to get around. It’s a bit clunky but better than nothing.
Too easy to pull off for an evade? Mesmer sword 2 is easy to pull off and still has an evade. That doesn’t seem like a good excuse unless sword 3 is unusually long. As it is, it’s starting to look like sword 3 is going to be almost useless in pve. At least if everything stays the same. Which is a huge shame.
As a ranger, I have a hard time sympathizing with a warrior. You’ll be fine OP. Warriors are still the darlings of Anet and bring a lot to the table.
I would like to see this. The jalis skills need to help with survivability more. Currently they are very lackluster in this regard. I would think it would need to be baseline though. Currently I see very little reason to use Jalis.
No. At least they should never allow free transfers to t1. I think free transfers in general is a terrible idea. We had that when the game launched and it was horrible for WvW. We were begging them to end the free transfers it was so bad.
This again? I guess you missed the madness on the forums back when HoT prepurchase was announced.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pre-purchase-community-address/
This is going to be how they do expansions from now on. People need to get used to the idea.
It would be nice if they buffed OH sword a bit more so you’d have reason to use it for damage.
Plus I’d still like to know if you can move while using the block.
I can see what happened. He’s focusing on that mesmer in the distance and shooting RF at him. However, that is NOT the mesmer that attacked him. That one was in stealth and basically popped out of stealth right next to him and burst him down very quickly.
I have a feeling she is going to be more on the support side. Though if she helps with survivability I won’t complain. But they really need to buff Jalis in terms of that, he is the “tanky” stance afterall.
Spamming skills has never been so punished.
This. This so much and that’s why I like the idea of rev and its why all the players are asking for weapon skills to not require energy.
Well so much for that, apparently theyre getting weapon swap and no energy cost on weapon skills..
They are getting a weapon swap (as they should), but you are incorrect about the no energy cost on weapon skills. All but the auto attack costs energy.
Meh, so s/a looks like it will be meta for revenant? I really don’t want to use that, would much rather go s/s.
