I don’t know why people make such a big deal about the $50 price tag. Seriously, that’s how it is during the pre-purchase period. There will be plenty of sales later.
Please lock these free players from the forums. We don’t need a million trolls here, it gets toxic enough at times as is. They also need to be locked from laurels and the tp.
At least they said we’ll get raids. I mean, that’s not a surprise at all but I look forward to hearing about the details on Saturday.
It doesn’t really matter much these days with the mega server system unless you are speaking in terms of WvW presence.
Yeah, well logic would dictate that because the question was specifically posted in the WvW subforums, that he is asking about a WvW presence.
Last I saw Op it was medium. I have no idea why several posters chise to give you a lesson ib=n megaservers that you never asked for, and specifically avoided answering your question.
It was in the General forums and a mod moved it here. So no, they wouldn’t have known since OP didn’t specify.
It’s listed as a medium population server in the server screen and it’s currently in Tier 5 for WvW. But if all you care about it PVE than it really doesn’t matter because of the megaserver.
Its because they are so cliche and badly done they look like ripped off bird wings taped on your back look out of place and everyone has them. When everyone has them they just are not as cool and again gemstore. The other wings u speak of at least look decent and I don’t see them as much as the lame angel demon wings. But whatever I’m enjoying my synergetic spinal blades still which I crafted so :p
And I have the spinal blades too, along with light of dwayna. But I also have the white store wings because they look nice on my sylvari with the dwayna outfit (gasps another store item! the horror). Some of my characters have store items, some don’t. And I couldn’t care less what other people are wearing.
Yeah, just try again. Sometimes you have bad luck and just get a rep who doesn’t know much. I’ve always had very good experiences dealing with customer support so far. Guess I’m lucky enough not to get newbies or something.
The value of an item is based on how you got it.
The value of an item is based on its aesthetics and how it looks with your other skins as you design your character.
If they gave you any skin you asked for in the daily login rewards it would make all skins worthless and give no reason to play the game anymore. That’s exactly how players who want items behind specific content feel if they give items in other (much easier) types of content. Same feeling really
Then those players only care about the reward and content because only they and a select few are able to obtain it.
Which means I was right and it’s about stroking ego.
That’s not really the case. At least not for everyone. There are definitely people who like having super rare, exclusive items so they can be special snowflakes. Just check out the general forum thread about obtaining unobtainable armors.
However, for many people it’s about rewards proportional to the effort. Braindead SW facerolling should not be the most rewarding content in the game. Period. There is no effort involved there. If it does give rewards it should take a very significant amount of time to obtain such rewards because the effort involved is next to nothing.
OP is totally right. The best and rarest items in the game must be given to noobs an casuals for free and in abundance.
This but unironically.
So you actually believe that? You want things to just be handed out for nothing? No effort involved? This is Guild Wars 2, not Communism Online.
There is nothing wrong with bringing back the tribal set so long as the effort put into getting it equals the same effort it took to get in the first place.
I think you underestimate just how many people do WvW and sPvP. Just a bit. If it was such a huge waste of time, Anet wouldn’t bother supporting it at all. They’d give just give up development of it. Clearly Anet doesn’t view it as a waste of time. Time is money and they wouldn’t waste it on something that had an insignificant playerbase.
I’ve seen people in this thread saying stuff like farming SW should be a viable way to earn such cgc rewards. That is not proportional effort. Now, maybe you don’t think that, but it’s definitely been said in this thread.
That really depends on how much you have to farm. Is farming SW for one hour proportional effort to running a dungeon for one hour? No. Is farming SW for two hours proportional to running a dungeon for one hour? Yeah, probably. So long as the exchange rate is right, it balances out. Personally though, I think they need to tighten up how SW works, you shouldn’t be able to just chest farm, the rewards should come from actually engaging the content (but ANet are the ones that currently think it should be a profitable way to play, so argue with them about it).
At this point it’s just very clear we are not going to agree. I thought maybe there might be some agreement on this point, but no that’s not the case. Braindead SW should never be a viable path to hard content rewards. Or put it this way, if it did it would have to take a VERY long time. Like months and months. And not through bandit chests at all. Ever. The bandit chests shouldn’t even exist and I pray that Anet never adds anything like that to the game again.
But I suppose we can civilly agree to disagree on all this.
You don’t have to speed run. Either make your own “all welcome, casual run” LFG or look for one. There are definitely those out there like you that don’t like to rush, rush, rush through everything.
You should reread this thread then. Because that’s exactly what people are crying about here.
Nope. The only people who are crying in this thread is people crying that their strawmen want that. The actual human beings in this thread have suggested no such thing.
Not true. I’ve seen people in this thread saying stuff like farming SW should be a viable way to earn such cgc rewards. That is not proportional effort. Now, maybe you don’t think that, but it’s definitely been said in this thread.
It’s BS because like I said, I’m pretty kitten sure the cgc folks would be happy with a lot of gold too and that isn’t something that anyone will see. Sure, there are people out there who probably do behave in that elitist manner, of that I have no doubt. But there are plenty who don’t act that way. It’s not black and white. People want harder, more interesting content for fun. People also like being rewarded for their effort.
Necromancer had stuff replaced. Go back and look at the Necromancer elite specialization beta feedback thread. Had lots of issues. Only good skills were RS and for pve. I wont even go there. You can read it for yourself.
like i said, best to wait until you play the Elite Specialization before jumping the gun with threads like this.
And if you went back to the necro forums you would see that they addressed many of the issues that people had with Reaper. Most of the necros seem happy and excited to try reaper out again in the next beta.

What? A ranger with swoop has more mobility than an ele? You can’t be serious.
Oh believe me, I avoid chest maps like the plague. But sometimes you’ll land on a map with them and can’t seem to escape it.
And they will get so offended when you ask in map chat for help defending something. I remember when the beta portals were dropping there were a lot of people going into SW and actually doing events because that was the only way to get the portals in SW (didn’t drop from bandit chests, thank god). The chest farmers would argue that we shouldn’t be on the map and that it was better to go to dry top for that. I personally hate Dry Top, so there was no way I was going there. Did finally get my portal from SW.

Well, I wouldn’t say that. Roy has done an awesome job with Revenant so far and has been incredibly receptive to our feedback. Just great overall communication. I love it. Much love to Robert Gee too of course.
I don’t want to count the other guys out though. Give them a chance to work on things. They might surprise you.
I miss Marionette so much. I wish they’d bring it back. It was a lot of fun.
Anet is adding a pvp legendary. I will most likely never get this because I don’t really pvp. That is fine. People need to learn that they can’t get everything they want, not unless they put in the effort.
And when I say more rewards, I don’t even necessarily mean skins. More gold is fine too.
Oh before this whole thing goes off course, we do currently have a thread all about rewards in HoT going on:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Some-people-don-t-like-hard-mode/first
Anyway, back to SW. I think it’s a step in the right direction overall. The mobs are harder than other zones, but they could do better. Fortunately it does seem like VB is improved in this regard.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
Faceroll content should not give good rewards. It’s bad for the game and teaches people this whole lazy “gimme everything for nothing” type attitude that seems to infect the game.
If they are going to leave it in, then fine. But harder content should reward way more.
People keep saying it’s to show off or brag and yet I have the distinct feeling that if there was no other reward but a good deal of gold people would still happily do the content….again reward proportional to the effort.
It lasts 15 seconds right? How about 20 seconds if you think 30 is too much.
VB has a lot of potential. Yeah, there were some times I was running around and got killed (I’m looking at you smokescale packs) but I don’t feel anything needs nerfing. It’s a matter of learning how to fight things. I had a lot of fun just fighting mobs and figuring the best ways to approach them.
I agree Roy, every class should have strengths and weaknesses. If you say condi is the revenant’s weakness then so be it. I accept that. But some classes are good at everything and pretty much don’t have any weaknesses.
This whole thread is going in circles with the same things being said by both sides….over and over again.

The interaction between Kasmeer and Marjory is just….ugh. I’m sorry, but real life couples do not behave that way. It’s cringe worthy. And I just don’t like their characters to begin with.
I don’t mind Rox though. Taimi can get annoying sometimes, but she is more tolerable than Kasmeer and “Jory.”
Silver Wastes is an interesting map. I do like the mobs there. But Vinewrath is too easy for my taste. The fight was sort of like a take on Marionette, but Marionette is far, far superior.
And one thing I hate about SW is the chest farm. I’m baffled as to why the hell Anet decided to add such an abomination to the game. Running around ignoring events and digging up chests like a braindead monkey gives you the best loot. It’s ridiculous. I really hope they’ve learned their lesson and refrain from adding anything like that in HoT.
It would be nice if the daggers hung out for a bit longer….or if they just get rid of the icd.
I do have to say, it does bother me when I think about his “can’t have everything” quote and then I remember eles and warriors exist in this game. -_- He’s not wrong, so I don’t fault him for saying this. Problem is there are classes that kind of throw that quote out the window…
As long as there is a proportional reward for the effort. It could be gold for all I care, but it needs to be far, far better than anything you get facerolling SW.
But considering the direction they are heading with the pvp and fractal legendaries and given their past behavior with specific content (Liadri, tequatl, TT), I’m guessing the cgc will reward some kind of skin or mini. Maybe both. I imagine there will be titles as well. Now as for whether people can get their hands on these items without doing the content. That will probably depend on whether they are BoE or BoP. Anet seems to prefer BoP these days…
They could introduce some kind of token system. Though I think this is less likely or if they did this it would be for only certain items not all.

No thank you, I hate most of the current characters in Destiny’s Edge 2.0. I’d rather they got killed off.
But you are essentially saying this. By saying that you should be able to achieve the same exact rewards that a legendary pvper or a hard mode content player gets by facerolling sw, that is basically what you are saying. Facerolling sw should never give you the same rewards as that. Period. That is not a proportional reward for effort.
I’m not saying that at all. I’m not saying that “facerolling” content should ever be supported, but there is a gulf between facerolling content and, say, Liadri, and I think good gameplay for the average player is somewhere in between. ANet are the ones that currently support the SW chest trains, and if they support it for some things then they should support it for all things, but ideally they would tighten that one up a bit, make the chests less of the value and actual event participation more of one, for example.
Didn’t you say before “all paths” should be able to lead to these rewards? That people should be able to play whatever they want and get these rewards? Well, that includes facerolling SW and similar content. So either you want all paths or you don’t, which is it?
I told myself I wouldn’t bother posting here as the arguments are just going in circles at this point, but…
I’m not saying that we ever will agree, but it might help if you actually read the words that I typed. At no point did I say anything even approaching : “you should be able to get everything you want with your eyes closed.”
I’m glad there has been a lot of positive feedback for VB and I hope they stick to their guns and do not nerf it. It’s great the way it is (well, minus the bugs of course). And I am glad that Anet has chosen to reward PvPers and fractal runners and will hopefully reward challenging group content appropriately as well. More casual folks will still have lots of things to work towards.
lol.
I’ve pointed out numerous times how I don’t pvp at all and probably will NEVER get my hands on that legendary and yet that is…FINE There is nothing wrong with rewarding those who do well in pvp for their effort. That’s a good thing. That will hopefully inspire more people to try their hand at pvp. It’s a game mode that needs all the support it can get. You can go without one kitten skin.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure they are going to give these rewards out no matter how these people stamp their feet. They been doing it this entire time, they aren’t changing things now.
And I’m baffled as to why the concept of rewards being proportional to the effort seems beyond some people’s grasp. This is something you find in real life folks.
(edited by xarallei.4279)
Considering they put Nike on the post show, whatever the challenging group content is, it better be good. I’m wary, but optimistic since they made that move. I mean they wouldn’t dare put Nike on if the CGC sucked, right? Right? crosses fingers
If there are nice things for the more casual crowd to work toward, what does it matter that you can’t have one skin? I’m pretty sure Anet isn’t going to forget the casual crowd and will probably have a legendary for them to work on.
And then there is the other person who refuses to see beyond black and white. It can’t possibly be that people like challenging content! It’s all about the loot. Hello, it’s probably both. People like the new challenging content and jump to do it for fun. But it’s basic human nature…..people like being rewarded for their effort. If you can get the same thing in some faceroll way, then that’s a slap in the face to people who put in the time and effort. I do wonder, like some others suggested if they made the reward a title and a good amount of gold, whether people would still be stamping their feet about it.
The death knight aspect is what i actually miss about revenant tho.. Hopefully next legend will be dark themed similiar to Mallyx.. Shiro doesnt feel like bad guy at all. Less light stuff, more red/dark purple/black. I would kill for red effects on gloves and ul.
+inst it weird that we have 2 blue and 2 green legends? O.o
Jalis is blue, Mallyx is purple, Shiro is green, Ventari is yellow (or well he should be yellow but his effect doesn’t show up on our gloves), and Glint looks blue I guess. Which other one is green?
Yeah, I assumed they forgot to give him one. lol.
Now you have the skin permanently available to apply as many times as you want rather than chaining it from one armor to another.
That is why it doesn’t feel special anymore to transmute. Now everything is just skins. Transmuting used to be a special thing. You would sacrifice an item but in return get exactly what you want and it would be more special to you to have.
No thank you. It sucked before, I’m glad they changed it to the current system.
there is no problem with good players getting good skins, this is the last time im going to say this so pay attention to what I say! HAVE YOUR HARD CONTENT, THATS NOT THE PROBLEM… the issue is gating it to the top 2% of players in the whole game. It needs to be accessible to a wider range of players. The way they have outlined it is, only players in the top tier of the legendary league will be able to get all the required items to make the legendary pack. So unless they have changed this recently and someone can post a link, I assume its still the standard to go by. not everybody can be in the top tier if you lose pips and tiers by losing matches etc… ergo, these items will be exclusive to the top 2% of players… whether that threshold is 10 players or 100 players is up to anet. but with a touted 450,000 players active and online, that’s an awful lot of people left without any ability to get this item. just find a better way for christs sake, that’s all were asking, we don’t care if its hard, just don’t make it impossible.
No. sPvp needs all the love it can get. It’s been a neglected game mode and now Anet is trying hard to develop it more and give it the love it needs. Leagues is part of it, but it needs strong rewards/incentives. Want that legendary? You’re going to have to work your kitten off for it. I’m hoping this encourages people who have never stepped into pvp to maybe give it a go. Hell, I’m seriously thinking about it myself. And for certain people who say things like “go play sports or chess if you want to be competitive” well given how Anet is pushing the esports scene you are wrong. Anet wants spvp to be very competitive. Otherwise they wouldn’t be pushing these tournaments and creating the leagues. And yes, there will be exclusive rewards. That’s the game they are creating, you are going to have to live with that or move on.
And I’m saying all this as someone who is NOT pvp player. I may not be a pvper, but I want to see the scene be brought back to life. I want it to thrive. I want it to be a success.
And I don’t think anyone here is saying the more casual players shouldn’t get anything. Of course, they need something cool to work towards as well. But no, they don’t need THAT particular skin. And no, they aren’t going to leave in droves if they can’t get that particular skin. They haven’t left yet after not getting things currently in the game that are difficult to get, they aren’t going to leave over this either. As long as their are rewards enough for them to work towards there should not be a problem here.
I wish they wouldn’t use the sepia. I want to be able to walk around old LA and get that nostalgic feeling. This is the only way to see our beloved old LA afterall. The sepia makes it washed out. Hate it.
Why? If you don’t like the challenging group content, don’t do them. Remember this isn’t WoW where the only way to get the best gear in the game is raiding. There is no gear treadmill. The most the challenging content will have is probably skins and titles. Not really a big deal. Don’t let yourself get worked up over this, it will be fine I’m sure.
Exactly. It’s really mind boggling. This game has many exclusive skins. If you want sunless skins you must do teq, if you want regurgitated armor you must do TT, if you want fractal skins you must do fractals, etc. If a pvper wants those things they must go into pve. Fractals are now getting their own legendary, pvp will get it’s own legendary. Most likely there will be some sort of normal PVE legendary back piece too. So what is the problem exactly? Because you can’t get every single skin out there? If you want it, you must make the effort to get it. Like I said, the legendary pvp back is great and I’d love to have it but I’m not so great at pvp. So I probably will never get it. And that is OK. Because the best pvpers deserve something for their efforts.
They aren’t bringing back dungeons. Those are toast. 5 man content is fractals. That’s what Anet is going to continue to support. And of course whatever the challenging group content is, but I highly doubt that’s going to be 5 man dungeons. More likely to be a raid of some type if anything.
What kind of fps do you have with a 4.0 Ghz machine in zergs or at tequatl? I’m looking into buying a new pc and the machines I was looking at were 4.0.
I have an i5 2500k 3.3 Ghz and things get very laggy at teq.
Now if you want to bring up them going back on their word you should have just brought up the existence Ascended period. But that’s a whole other can of worms that I don’t think we need to open up here. Anyway, now that they have definitively said that Ascended is the final tier and that they will never have another tier after this….well, I would really like to believe this. I will be holding them to those words.
Yes, that’s the purpose of legendaries. The showy skins and the free stat change. That’s why it’s really not a big deal. If it was the only ascended back piece then it would be a very big deal. Believe me, I’m very much for everyone having the chance to have the highest stat gear and I hate the very idea of gear treadmills. I was very opposed to the introduction of ascended gear to begin with. I still don’t like the idea of it, but I’ve come to accept the fact that it’s not going away and while it’s very grindy it’s not particularly hard to get.
And so? You can MAKE ascended backpacks. It’s not like this legendary backpack is the only ascended backpack out there. There is mawdry, there are the spinal blades, there are the dwayna and grenth backpacks. Seriously…
But you told me just a post above that ascended doesn’t have better stats… I almost felt bad i crafted the kitten ed set.
So it does have better stats after all.
Do legendary items have better stats than ascended? Since the packs will be legendary and all that … it’s gotten me curious.
On the off chance that you are genuinely confused, I will explain. Ascended gear is the highest stat level in the game. Legendary backpacks are ascended gear. They are NOT a higher level stat gear than ascended. Ascended backpacks are also obtainable in numerous other ways (mawdrey, spinal, grenth, dwayna, not to mention all the fractal ones). Therefore there is no stat advantage given for obtaining the legendary back pack. If there were no other possible way to obtain ascended back pieces except for this legendary that you can only get in pvp or whatever, that would obviously be very wrong and against the spirit of this game. Stat gear should always have numerous ways of being obtained. But that isn’t the case here because you can get yourself an ascended backpiece. It’s only the skin you are missing out on.
